A method has been developed for the preparation of ion-exchange fibres based on polyacrylonitrile, using alkali metal alkylsiliconates as modifying agents.

3-Methyl-4-chloro-4,5,6,7-tetrahydrobenz[1,2-d]isoxazole was synthesized from 3-methyl-4-oxo-4,5,6,7-tetrahydrobenz[1,2-d]isoxazole. The compound is used in the alkylation of malonic ester and methoxytetralone enolates. Bi- and tetracyclic derivatives of the pyridine and hydropyridine series were obtained by catalytic hydrogenation of the alkylation products.

The chemical technology of fabrication of nutrient medium for growing fungi and plants will solve urgent problems of the ecologically clean use of the cellulose-containing wastes, formed in large amounts during textile processing of cotton and flax fibres. The conditions for fabrication of composite materials of any geometric shape and size having a fixed density, porosity, moisture content, and air permeability were developed. Designing a nutrient medium will allow creating aesthetically attractive articles for decorating interiors which meet the requirements of modern design.

The concentration of monoamines (MA) and activity of monoamine oxidase (MAO) in the neurons of the hypothalamic arcurate nucleus were investigated during the estrous cycle. The MA concentration was increased in estrus and reduced in diestrus. MAO activity, on the other hand, was highest in metestrus-diestrus and fell sharply in estrus; definite negative correlation was thus observed between these parameters. The overall change in the MA concentration as well as the change in MAO activity in the arcuate nucleus were shown to be brought about by only a relatively small proportion of its cells, about the same in both cases (15–20% of their total number).

The process of cleaning up cellulose acetate spinning solutions and model solutions from traces of acid dyes with polyacrylonitrile fibre anion-exchangers has been investigated. Optimum conditions for carrying out the clean-up have been determined.

It is possible to prepare a nitrogen- and phosphorus-containing polyampholyte by treating an amino-containing polyacrylonitrile fiber with phosphorous acid and formaldehyde by the Kabachnik-Fields reaction.
