2. High‐Resolution Nighttime Temperature and Rock Abundance Mapping of the Moon Using the Diviner Lunar Radiometer Experiment With a Model for Topographic Removal

The Diviner Lunar Radiometer Experiment on the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) has been mapping the surface temperatures of the Moon since 5 July 2009. Diviner has since collected over 500 billion radiometric measurements with excellent spatial and local time coverage. However, the most recently published high‐resolution Diviner global maps only use data collected from 2009 to 2016. In this work, we compile ∼13 years of Diviner data to produce improved global maps of nighttime brightness temperature, bolometric temperature, regolith temperature, and rock abundance (RA). Errors in Diviner's pointing have been corrected and past effective field of view modeling has been optimized to improve data georeferencing without spatial interpolation. We estimate an effective resolution of ∼330 m longitudinally and ∼700 m latitudinally at the equator, which corresponds to an improvement of ∼3.5× longitudinally and ∼1.3× latitudinally. In addition, we develop a thermal model that accounts for indirect scattering and emission from surrounding topography. The resulting temperature anomaly maps better highlight variations in temperature caused by thermophysical properties by removing most topographic effects. These improvements allow for the identification of smaller and fainter thermal features than was previously possible. The improved effective resolution of Diviner maps allows for excellent spatial correlation with other high‐resolution data sets. To demonstrate this, we compare Diviner RA to a manual survey of boulders in the Apollo 17 landing site region. We show that Diviner RA correlates well with the areal fraction of rocks larger than ∼1–2 m in diameter visible in LRO Camera imagery. The Diviner Lunar Radiometer Experiment on board the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter has been mapping the temperature of the lunar surface since 5 July 2009. Past Diviner data has been used to produce global maps of nighttime temperature and to determine the thermal properties of the surface. However, the most recently published global maps only used data collected from 2009 to 2016. We recreate these global maps using all data available through July 2022: over 5 years of additional data. We implement several improvements, including a correction for errors in instrument pointing, which result in an increase in effective resolution of ∼3.5× and ∼1.3× in the longitudinal and latitudinal directions, respectively. This allows lateral brightness temperature variations to be resolved at a finer scale than was previously possible. In addition, we develop a model that mostly removes the effect of topography on nighttime temperatures. 4. Novel analogs of ghrelin: physiological and clinical implications

- Abstract
Ghrelin, the 28 amino acid peptide recently identified as the natural ligand for the growth hormone (GH) secretagogue (GHS) receptor, has multiple activities in addition to stimulation of GH secretion, including stimulation of feeding and weight gain. To utilize these actions for potential therapeutic benefit, we have produced analogs of human ghrelin with enhanced metabolic stability, affinity for the GHS receptor, and efficacy in stimulating weight gain. We have also discovered an analog of ghrelin, BIM-28163, that is an antagonist at the GHS receptor and that fully inhibits GHS receptor activation induced by native ghrelin. In vivo, BIM-28163 does not increase GH secretion but fully blocks ghrelin-induced GH secretion. In contrast, BIM-28163 acts as a full agonist with regard to the ghrelin actions of stimulating weight gain and food intake. These results suggest that a receptor other than the GHS receptor mediates the actions of ghrelin on feeding and weight gain. This concept is strengthened by our observation that at certain hypothalamic sites, BIM-28163 acts as an antagonist of ghrelin-induced neuronal activation, while at other sites, both ghrelin and BIM-28163 induce neuronal activation via the same receptor. Collectively, these results indicate the existence of a novel ghrelin receptor that may regulate the feeding activity of ghrelin. Using BIM-28163 as a tool to define the endogenous role of ghrelin in normal GH secretion, we have demonstrated that antagonism of the GHS receptor in normal rats does not impair the pulsatility of GH secretion but lowers the pulse amplitude and mean GH level. These results demonstrate that endogenous ghrelin acts to amplify the basic pattern of GH secretion established by the interplay of hypothalamic GH-releasing hormone and somatostatin. These studies demonstrate the feasibility of creating ghrelin analogs that are selective for specific activities, as well as their utility in dissecting the role of ghrelin in both normal physiology and specific pathologies.

Facial drawings of 2- or 4-yr.-old hoys or girls differing in attractiveness were attached to an episode which depicted a mild misbehavior. Neither the attribution of responsibility for the behavior nor the choice of an indulgent vs punitive response was associated with the child's attractiveness, sex, or age. These findings suggest that the halo effects of attractiveness discriminations may not be fully operative at these ages.

The preovulatory gonadotropin surge is a critical event in reproduction. Although many explanations have been given for the inhibition-disinhibition cycle referred to as positive feedback, none are completely satisfactory. Recent evidence indicates that the preovulatory surge of gonadotropin is induced, in part, by the disengagement of inhibitory synaptic connections in the hypothalamic arcuate nucleus. This disinhibition of gonadotropin-releasing hormone secretion results in a massive release by the estrogen-sensitized pituitary gonadotrophs. Investigations are presently underway to determine whether other areas of the hypothalamus are involved in this estrogen-induced synaptic plasticity.

25. Physical attractiveness: The influence of selected torso parameters

Front-view line drawings of male and female physiques were rated for attractiveness. Both subject sexes rated female physiques with greater curvature as less attractive. Male subjects' ratings were unaffected by breast size while female subjects showed slight negative evaluation of large breasts. Both subjects sexes rated broad shoulders as attractive in male physiques. Greater chest muscularity resulted in slightly higher attractiveness ratings; waist slimness was also judged attractive, particularly by female subjects.

Facial drawings of infants from 2 wk. to 4 yr. varying in eye height, pupil size, and mouth shape were rated for attractiveness by 181 female and 82 male undergraduates. Stimulus age was the most influential determinant of attractiveness. None of the facial variables showed a consistent effect at all ages though eye height was influential at 1 yr. and older. Judged in the context of a substantial age range the very young seem less attractive in absolute terms and possibly less susceptible to discriminations of attractiveness.

28. Sorption of methanol on zeolite HBeta investigated by in situ MAS NMR spectroscopy

- Abstract
Methanol adsorption and desorption experiments were performed on acidic zeolites applying a new in situ MAS NMR technique. 1H MAS NMR spectra of dehydrated zeolites were recorded during injection of nitrogen gas loaded with methanol into the MAS rotor. The spectra indicated that in zeolite HBeta also silanol groups are involved in the adsorption of methanol which is in contrast to the behaviour of SiOH groups in zeolites HZSM-5 and HY. The desorption experiments show that about 70% of the methanol molecules contributing to adsorbate complexes in zeolite HBeta are weakly hydrogen-bonded at silanol groups.

Groups of rats learned a discrimination problem in a four-choice apparatus while exposed to one of six auditory stimulus conditions. The stimuli were: a selection of Mozart, an amelodic version of this piece, a selection of Schoenberg, an amelodic version of this piece, white noise, and quiet. None of the groups acquired the discrimination more quickly than quiet controls. Ss exposed to the Schoenberg music, the amelodic version of it, and to white noise performed more poorly than the controls. Presence of nonrhythmic auditory stimulation is detrimental to performance on a discrimination task.

The discovery of the excitatory function of the brainstem reticular formation helped in the formulation of a number of psychological theories relating to arousal. The demonstration of sensory inhibition, and the discovery of inhibitory centres in the cortex, hippocampus and mid-pons provided a physiological explanation for the phenomenon of habitutation. The measurement of indices of arousal and habituation, together with careful clinical assessment, proved useful in a number of diagnostic studies.In normal subjects arousal was subjectively perceived as wakefulness and was associated with predictable changes in physiological measures. The excitation-inhibition balance, measured by the amplitude of the orienteering reflex, its rate of habituation, and habituation point, was correlated with the Neuroticism Score on the Eysenck Personality Inventory.Thought disorder schizophrenics failed in habituate, and paranoid schizophrenics had difficulty dishabituating, indicating abnormal inhibitory function. Some neurotic groups with symptoms of chronic anxiety, had an abnormally high state of arousal.Impaired habituation in cases of Korsakoff's psychosis implicates the hippocampus in the mediation of inhibition. The catecholamines have an important role in regulating excitation, as shown by the increase in arousal associated with L-Dopa administration, and the decreased arousal shown after alpha methyl dopa.

- Abstract
In eight asthmatics, amitriptyline produced clinical improvement and reduction in use of other anti‐asthma medication. In another series of 12 asthmatics, the FEV, was increased by a mean of 17% after an intramuscular injection of 25 mg of amitriptyline. In guinea‐pigs, amitriptyline counteracted the bronchoconstrictor actions of histamine, 5‐hydroxytryptamine and acetylcholine. It was more potent than imipramine or desmethyl‐ imipramlne. It is suggested that amitriptyline may prove of use in the treatment of asthma. Its effect is probably not due to an antidepressant action; it may be due to antagonism of bronchoconstrictor substances.

33. Asymmetries in Snowfall, Emissivity, and Albedo of Mars' Seasonal Polar Caps: Mars Climate Sounder Observations

- Abstract
The stability of the residual carbon dioxide cap near the south pole of Mars is currently not well understood. The cap's survival depends on its radiation budget, controlled by the visible albedo and infrared emissivity. We investigated the role of CO2snowfall in altering the albedo and emissivity, leading to the observed asymmetry in the net CO2accumulation at the two poles. Uncontaminated snowfall increases albedo, and lowers emissivity, due to scattering by optically thick clouds and granular surface deposits. Data from the Mars Climate Sounder (MCS) show that fall and winter snowfall is correlated with higher springtime albedo at both poles. For the seasonal CO2deposits in each polar region >60° latitude, we find mean albedo values of 0.39 in the north and 0.51 in the south, and winter 32‐μm emissivity values of 0.84 in the north and 0.87 in the south. Using a radiative transfer model and the MCS data, we find that the north polar deposits have ∼10× higher dust content than those in the south, explaining the ∼31% lower albedo of the north seasonal cap during spring. Our model shows that greater amounts of snowfall can explain the ∼4% lower emissivity of the north polar seasonal cap. These findings demonstrate that winter snowfall and dust transport affect the composition of Mars' seasonal ice caps and polar energy balance. Snowfall and dust loading are therefore important in modeling the CO2cycle on Mars, as well as the planet's long‐term climate variations. The permanent carbon dioxide (CO2, also known as dry ice) deposits on Mars control the planet's global atmospheric pressure. Seasonal fluctuations of the CO2cycle drive pressure variations measured at the surface anywhere on the planet. These variations are buffered by the stable permanent CO2deposit at the south pole. The north pole has the more favorable altitude and pressure to be in equilibrium with the atmosphere, but satellite observations showed that the residual cap at the south pole was in equilibrium and not the north. Other studies found evidence of carbon dioxide snowfall in both polar regions. Using data from Mars Climate Sounder on board the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, we found that there is an asymmetry between the optical properties of the northern and the southern permanent caps. We attribute this asymmetry to dust and snowfall quantities, which promote more CO2accumulation in the south, relative to the north. - Abstract
ObjectiveFractional flow reserve derived from coronary CT angiography (FFR-CT) is a novel tool for assessing the significance of coronary artery stenosis. The primary aim of this prospective study was to evaluate the diagnostic performance of a novel on-site rapid FFR-CT algorithm as compared to invasive FFR as the gold standard in a real world workflow. Our secondary aim was to determine whether the FFR-CT diagnostic performance was affected by inter-observer variations in lumen segmentation.MethodsWe enrolled 44 consecutive patients (64.6 ±8.9 years, 34% female) with 60 coronary atherosclerotic lesions who underwent coronary computed tomography angiography (CTA) and were referred for invasive coronary angiography (ICA) in two European centres. ICA with FFR measurements were performed within 60 days after coronary CTA in all lesions. An FFR value of ≤0.8 was considered significant. Coronary CTA scans were evaluated by two expert readers, who determined the effective diameter stenosis (EDS) and manually adjusted the semi-automated coronary lumen segmentations. All extracted vessels were evaluated by an on-site FFR simulator to calculate the FFR-CT values.ResultsThe mean FFR-CT value was 0.77 ±0.15 and the average coronary CTA based EDS was 43.6±16.9%. On-site lumen segmentation, manual adjustment and FFR-CT simulations were performed in an average of 9 minutes, (range: 3–25 min). The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value and negative predictive value of FFR-CT vs. EDS with a cut-off of 50% were the following: 90.5%, 71.8%, 63.3% and 93.3% vs. 52.4%, 87.2%, 68.8% and 77.3%. FFR-CT demonstrated significantly better diagnostic performance as compared to EDS (AUC: 0.89 vs. 0.74 respectively; p<0.001). The FFR-CT AUCs of the two readers did not show any significant difference (0.89 vs. 0.88; p=0.74).ConclusionOn-site FFR-CT simulation is feasible and has better diagnostic performance than anatomical stenosis assessment. The diagnostic performance of the FFR-CT simulation algorithm does not depend on the readers who adjust the semi-automated lumen segmentation adjustments.

Those plastics that have been used by food industry as packaging (especially in sweet industry) have strict requirements. Most of these plastic constructions are primary or secondary packaging with direct or indirect contact with foodstuff. Over the appropriate mechanical properties, these packagings need to be safe enough to be used as direct contact material without any dangerous material migration or transfer. Recently the polyethylene-terephthalate (PET) is that material which is widely used for this kind of purpose and application. To substitute the PET, only that kind of alternative material which are fulfilling the requirements of applications and compliant to the relevant regulations can be applied. The cost-efficient application of plastics strongly depends on the mechanical properties of the material. In light of these facts, both types of polylactic-acid (PDLLA, PLLA) and the PET were tested. Comparing their mechanical properties PLA could be used as a real alternative of PET.

- Abstract
Introduction: The increase of left auricular volume (LAV) is a robust cardiovascular event predictor. Despite that echochardiography is more often used, cardiac MRI is considered more accurate. Our objetives are to validate "fast" LAV measures by MRI vs the considered gold standard (GS) and to compare Echo and MRI in a wide spectrum of patients. Methods: In a non-selected popullation with MRI study previously realized, we measured LAV by biplane method (BPMR) and by area-length in 4 chamber view (ALMR) and compared them with biplane (BPe) and discs method (MDDe) in 4 chamber view in echo. To validate MRI measurements, we measured LAV in short axis slices (Simpson Method, SM) in a group of patients and considered it the GS. Results: 186 patients were included (mean age 51 ± 17 age; 123 male; 14 in AF) with clinical indication of cardiac MRI (Philips 1,5 T). In 24 patients SM was calculated. 29% of cardiac MRI were considered normal. Mean underlying pathologies were myocardiopathy (27%), Ischemic myocardiopathy (17%), myopericarditis (10%), prior to AF ablation (4%), valvular disease (6%) and miscellaneous (7%). Excellent correlation was obtained between "fast" MRI measurements and SM in MRI (SM vs BPMR interclass correlation coefficient ICC=0.965 and SM vs ALMR, ICC=0.958; P<0.05) with low interobserver variability (ICC=0.983 for SM; ICC=0.949 for BPMR; ICC=0.931 for ALMR). "Fast" measurements by MRI showed stadistical correlation between them (CCI=0.910) (Figure). Correlation between Echo and MRI measures was only moderate. (BPRM vs BPe CCI=0,469 mean difference -30 ml; ALMR vs MDDe ICC=0,456 mean difference -24 mL). Conclusions: ‘fast’ LAV measures by MRI are comparable with the MRI GS and also between them. Echo values seem to underestimate compared to MRI, so its use may not be suitable.

- Abstract
Purpose: Although delayed-enhancement magnetic resonance imaging (DEMRI) is essential for diagnosis of cardiac sarcoidosis (CS), the test was not available when pacemaker was implamted. Recently, MR-conditional pacemaker has become avilable and we hypothesized that this device would be useful for diagnosis and management of CS. The aim of this study was to assess the diagnostic ability of MR-conditional pacemaker about CS in patients with advanced A-V nodal block (AAVB). Methods: Twenty-seven AAVB patients (14 men, 13 women; mean age, 69 ± 11 years) who were implanted MR-conditional pacemaker were studied. DEMRI was performed 6 weeks after implantation of permanent pacemaker. In patients with positive for DE, additional examinations like echocardiography, radioisotope imaging, biopsy, and coronary computed-tomography were performed due to confirm the diagnosis of CS and exclude coronary artery disease. Results: DE was observed in 12 patients (44 %). Out of 12 patients, 2 patients were excluded for having prior myocardial infarction. Seven of 10 (70 %) patients were diagnosed of CS by the consensus criteria. Compared with non-CS group, CS group had significantly lower age (61 ± 12 years vs. 72 ± 9 years p = 0.017). There was no significant difference about sex, angiotensin-converting enzyme, brain natriuretic peptide, and left ventricular ejection fraction between 2 groups. Six patients had started corticosteroid therapy and 5 patients (83%) recovered A-V nodal conduction. Conclusion: MR-conditional pacemaker was useful for diagnosis and management of patients with AAVB caused by CS.

- Abstract
Clinical PET acquisitions of the heart suffer from artefacts and drops in image quality due to the poor spatial resolution of the PET system. Moreover, cardiac PET images are further degraded by the blur caused by the breathing and beating motions, thus hampering diagnosis and evaluation of myocardial pathologies. Anatomy-enhanced PET reconstruction, using a high-resolution CT, has proven useful in brain imaging. In cardiac datasets however, due to the motion artefacts, the application of any restoring technique on datasets affected by motion blur needs to be preceded by the validation of the proposed method on realistic static datasets. In this work, the validation is performed using static cardiac ex vivo datasets obtained from a number of sacrificed sheep, scanned on a clinical PET/CT scanner. The aim of this work is to assess the effectiveness of reconstructions of the acquired datasets with different CT-based anatomical priors, in comparison to reconstructions currently applied in clinical practise. The gold standard to which all reconstructions are compared consists of images of the same hearts scanned on a small-animal PET scanner, whose high spatial resolution allows for almost artefact-free images. Encouraging results were obtained so far, with improvements in volume delineation and uniformity of activity values when anatomical information was used. Fig 1 shows the gold standard image (left) compared to a regular clinical reconstruction (middle) and to a reconstruction using the high-resolution CT as anatomical information (right).

- Abstract
Sudden cardiac death (SCD) is a common late complication in patients with tetralogy of Fallot (ToF). Reduced baroreflex sensitivity (BRS) is an independent predictor of SCD and BRS reduction was reported in ToF. Relationship between BRS and carotid artery distensibility (DC) in healthy subjects was reported by us earlier. We also found that DC was reduced in ToF patients. In the present study we tested the hypothesis that reduced BRS is related to increased carotid artery stiffness.

- Abstract
Background: The outcome of radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA) of atrial fibrillation (AF) has improved thanks to left atrium (LA) anatomy reconstruction by computed tomography with adaptive statistical iterative reconstruction algorithm (CT-ASIR) before the procedure. However, CT-ASIR strategy is associated to an increase of cumulative effective radiation dose (ED) in these patients. Recently, a model-based iterative reconstruction algorithm (MBIR, GE Healthcare, Waukesha,Wisconsin) has been developed (CT-MBIR) for image noise reduction reducing the ED close to chest X-ray exposure. The aim of this study is to compare the CT and RFCA characteristics, AF recurrence after procedure and radiation exposure between RFCA guided by image integration with CT-ASIR versus CT-MBIR Methods and Materials: One-hundred twenty consecutive patients with drug-refractory paroxysmal or persistent AF were addressed to CT-ASIR (Group 1; N: 60; mean age 60.3 ± 10.1 yo; male: 46) or CT-MBIR protocol (Group 2; N: 60; mean age 59.7 ± 11.3 yo; male:45) for evaluation of LA before RFCA. All patients were subsequently treated by image integration-supported RFCA. Image noise, signal to noise ratio (SNR), contrast to noise ratio (CNR), RFCA procedural characteristics, rate of AF recurrence and CT radiation exposure were measured and compared between the two groups. Results: The two groups were homogeneous in terms of demographic characteristics, cardiovascular risk factors, prevalence of persistent AF, medical therapy and echocardiographic characteristics. The mean follow-up was similar (578 ± 284 vs. 591 ± 278 days, respectively, p:ns). Group 2 showed a higher signal to noise ratio (25.9 ± 7.1 vs. 13.8 ± 5.1) and contrast to noise ratio (22.7 ± 6.5 vs. and 14.08 ± 4.1) of left atrium as compared to Group 1 (p<0.001). No differences were found in terms of RFCA parameter [procedural duration (130.9 ± 130.6. vs. 143.8 ± 80.4 min); fluoroscopy time (27.9 ± 14.1.0 vs. 32.0 ± 16.4 min); pulmonary veins isolated (3.8 ± 0.4 vs. 3.9 ± 0.4)] and the rate of AF recurrence (31% vs. 29%) between Group 2 vs Group 1. Group 2 showed a 94% reduction of ED as compared to Group 1 (0.4 ± 0.04 mSv vs 6.4 ± 1.8 mSv, p<0.01). Conclusions: CT-MBIR allows accurate non-invasive reconstruction of LA anatomy in AF patients undergoing to RFCA with a submillisievert effective radiation and comparable success rate of RFCA with CT-ASIR technique.

- Abstract
Purpose: 3D echocardiography (3DE) enables fast 3D acquisition but subsequent manual navigation to find 2D diagnostic planes can be time consuming. We have developed and validated an automated machine learning-based technique to find apical 2-, 3- and 4-chamber (A2C, A3C, A4C) views that enables fast volume navigation and analysis. Methods: 3DE volumes were acquired (Philips iE33: X3-1 and X5-1 probes) from 30 healthy volunteers and 36 clinical patients with suspected valve disease and coronary heart disease. 66 end diastolic volumes were used to assess the accuracy of apical standard view finding by our method against manual plane finding. To do this, dedicated software was developed with a machine learning approach and a 3-fold cross validation of results was performed. Results: Automatic A4C view detection was possible in 60/66 (91%) of volumes; detection failures were due to suboptimal myocardium wall integrity or lack of right ventricle in the scan. A2C and A3C views were extracted from the A4C view using the known geometrical relationships between apical standard views (A2C to A3C: 30°~40° and A2C to A4C: 90° of rotation over the left ventricle long axis, as shown in the Figure). In average, our method accurately found the heart apex and mitral valve centre with a 7.1 ± 5.7 mm and 7.2 ± 5.3 mm error, respectively. Conclusions: In order to automate clinical workflow, we have developed a new and fully automatic machine learning strategy for apical standard view finding which performed well (91% detection accuracy) on volunteer and clinical 3D echocardiograms.

The procedure was complicated by Ellis Type III perforation of mid-LAD after stenting, which was successfully sealed off by cover stents. Post-procedure echocardiogram showed small pericardial effusion (<5 mm) without tamponade. Few hours later, the patient developed severe hypotension (70/40 mmHg) without chest pain which was not responsive to initial fluid challenge. There was no new ST changes on ECG, nor any visible active bleeding and drop in hemoglobin level. Urgent echocardiogram showed increased percardial effusion of around 1 cm, but without any classical features of tamponade. Nevertheless, pericardiocentesis via subcostal approach was done with 150 ml blood-stained fluid drained. Yet the patient remained in severe shock despite addition of inotropes. A second careful search by echocardiogram revealed a large pericardial hematoma (4.5 cm × 2.5 cm) compressing the right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) to a slit-like passage, which is best viewed in the parasternal short axis view (Figure A). This resulted in obstructive shock. Subsequent computerized tomography also confirmed the presence of periaortic hematoma extending to, and compressing on the RVOT (Figures B). Relook angiogram showed no new perforation, and it was presumed that there has been delayed oozing leading to this presentation. The patient was managed expectantly with volume replacement and gradually recovered. Conclusion: Acute pericardial hematoma at RVOT location can cause cardiac tamponade in the abscene of classical echocardiographic features in usual windows. Clinical correlation with meticulous search are the key to uncover the diagnosis.

- Abstract
Purpose: Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) is the clinical gold standard technique to exclude left atrial thrombus prior to electrical- of pharmacological cardioversion of atrial fibrillation. We aimed to evaluate the diagnostic performance of cardiac computed tomography angiography (CTA) regarding the detection of left atrial thrombus compared to the gold standard TEE. Methods: In total 444 patients were referred to left atrial angiography before atrial fibrillation ablation procedure (149 women, 295 men, mean age 56y) between February 2011 and January 2014. We have investigated the patients who subsequently underwent TEE (n=201). Results: CTA excluded left atrial thrombi in 178 cases. In all negative CTA cases were confirmed by TEE (true negatives). In 23 cases CTA showed incomplete contrast filling in the left appendage: 19 false positives and 4 true positives. According to our results sensitivity of cardiac CT is 100% [95% CI: 40.2%-100%], specificity was 90.4% [95% CI: 85.4%-94.1%], negative predictive value was 100% [95% CI: 97.9%-100%] and positive predictive value was 17.4% [95% CI: 5.1%-38.8%]. Conclusion: Cardiac CT was very sensitive to diagnose left atrial thrombus, the negative predictive value proved to be 100%. In patients where cardiac CTA excludes left appendage thrombus subsequent TEE examination may be unnecessary.

- Abstract
The increase in the detection rate for premalignant changes of bronchial epithelium was studied in 56 symptom-free volunteers from the risk group of Czech uranium miners (mean age 50.69 years, mean WLM 21.06 (1 Working Level Month is equal to the absorption of latent energy of 2.08 × 10–5 J/m3 in one month, i.e. 170 working hours)) by the additional employment of the System of Autofluorescence Endoscopy (SAFE-1000 Pentax) to conventional white-light bronchoscopy, comparing results with those of bronchial biopsy histopathology examination. Histopathology using hematoxylin and eosin staining confirmed intraepithelial neoplasias in 15 areas in 10 persons. White-light bronchoscopy sensitivity was 21.05%, and specificity 93.7% which an autofluorescence bronchoscopy sensitivity was 78.95% and specificity 81.89%.
