Der Brückenträger der Öresundbrücke wurde als Stahlverbundträger aus Groß‐Fertigteilen mit einer Regellänge von 140 m errichtet. Für die Vorlandbrücken wurden Einfeldträger von Stütze zu Stütze vom Schwimmkran Svanen eingebaut und mittig über den permanenten Stützenlagern zu Durchlaufträgern bis zu 1470 m Länge verschweißt. Auch beim Bau der Hochbrücke kamen Groß‐Fertigteile mit einer max. Länge von 140 m zur Verwendung, die auf den Querträgern der Pylone und auf Hilfsstützen im Öresund abgesetzt wurden. Anders als bei den Trägern der Vorlandbrücken dienten hierbei die Diagonalen und die oberen Gurte des Fachwerks seines bereits abgesetzten Trägers als Unterstützung und Fixierung für den neu zu plazierenden und zu verschweißenden Träger. Die Schrägseile der Hochbrücke bestehen jeweils aus zwei Bündeln von Stahllitzen, die parallel in PE‐Hüllrohren verlaufen ‐ die unteren Verankerungen der Schrägseile sitzen an Ankerkonsolen am Träger, die oberen an einbetonierten Steelboxes in den Pylonbeinen.

As for the unlabelled (±)-1(e)-(m-methoxyphenyl)-2(e)-(dimethylaminomethyl)cyclohexane 1(a)-ol, tramadol, (T), pronounced stereochemical effects were observed for the isotopomers with regard to the extent of formation of O- and N-demethylated metabolites. The pharmacological active O-demethylated metabolite M1 was formed from the unlabelled as well as from the labelled (+)-tramadols about 6 times less than from the corresponding (-)-T. In contrast, the N-demethylated metabolite M2 was formed from the (+)-tramadols about 1.5 times more than from the corresponding (-)-T. These steric effects were modulated by the smaller apparent isotope effects for the isotopomers. Isotope effects were expressed as kH/kD (calculated from concentrations) and as DV, DV/K and HKm/DKm (from Eadie-Hofstee plots).

Tramadol (T), racemic 1(e)-(m-methoxyphenyl)-2(e)-(dimethylaminomethyl)-cyclohexane-1(a)-ol is an effective analgesic drug. Metabolites were formed by O- and N-demethylation. Six deuterated tramadol isotopomers have been synthesized; their kinetic isotope effects in oxidative demethylation reactions were investigated in vitro using human liver microsomes. In comparison to unlabelled (±)-tramadol, (±)-T-OCD3 and (±)-T-D9 displayed an unequivocal (< 3), (±)-T-ND6 and (±)-T-ND3 a noticeable, and (±)-T-cyclohexyl-D3 as well as (±)-T-15ND2 no measurable isotope effect. Metabolic switching (favoring the N-demethylation) was observed only after incubation of a tramadol with a trideuterated methoxy group. Additional N-CD3-groups prevented this metabolic switching. Metabolic switching favoring the O-demethylation was not observed. The isoenzyme responsible for the O-demethylation was always saturated under the experimental conditions required to detect the metabolites.The two tramadol isotopomers containing deuterium in metabolic inert positions (other than the methyl groups, i.e., (±)-T-15ND2 and (±)-T-cyclohexyl-D3) were expected to display no isotope effects. This expectation could be verified in this study.

Abstract:  A novel monoclonal antibody (mAb), 8D3 (IgG2a), that specifically recognizes the murine transferrin receptor (TfR) was produced by immunizing a Lewis rat with a polyoma middle T oncogene-transformed endothelioma cell line. The 8D3 mAb was obtained by immunohistochemical screening for exclusive staining of vessels forming a blood–brain barrier (BBB), but not of other vessels. The anti-TfR mAb 8D3 recognizes the TfR also in FACS analysis and in western blots and should prove to be useful for affinity purification of the TfR. Whereas 8D3 brightly stains BBB-forming vessels in the central nervous system of mice, it does not stain the fenestrated capillaries within the choroid plexus and the circumventricular organs. In testis, where the blood–tissue barrier is located at the level of the Sertoli cells, the 8D3 mAb specifically stains Sertoli cells but not endothelial cells. Finally, in vitro, 8D3 does not interfere with iron uptake of lymphocytes as it does not influence their proliferation. Taken together, 8D3 represents a versatile new tool to study the tissue distribution of the murine TfR and TfR-mediated transcytosis across tissue barriers in the mouse.

Materials can be engineered to have enhanced hydrogen storage capabilities for a given electrolysis working condition by modifying the composition of the first few atomic layers. The changes in composition of the near surface can affect the balance between the Volmer, Tafel, and Heyrovsky reactions, which changes the chemical potential of the adsorbed hydrogen, and ultimately controls the electrochemical insertion of hydrogen. To this end, the hydrogen stored under galvanostatic conditions was investigated after altering the composition of the Pd surface with various combinations of Pb, Bi, and Pt. It was found that the addition of an underpotential deposition (UPD) of Bi on the Pd cathode increases the hydrogen content from PdH0.77to PdH0.81at −10.9 mA cm−2, and the addition of a small amount of Pt to the UPD Bi (Pt/Bi atomic ratio of 0.13 ± 0.01) further increased the hydrogen content to PdH0.87. For comparison, the same change in hydrogen content from pressurized gas loading experiments would require an increase in hydrogen fugacity from about 16 to 2400 atm. This work provides a fundamental basis for the future design of surface alloys yielding enhanced electrochemical hydrogen storage in Pd and other hydrogen absorbing materials.

19F NMR is used for monitoring the In vitro behaviour in locust organs or tissues of an ester with a fluorinated alkoxy structure and a chiral acyl moiety. In carrying out analysis directly in the biological media, the problematic extraction of polar metabolites is avoided, contributing to an easier and more reliable monitoring. Thus, in diluted haemolymph a remarkable enantioselectivity of the transformation is evidenced. Over a four hour period the ester R remains unalterated, while the S enantiomer is completely hydrolyzed. This enantioselectivity is the reverse of the trend which is generally observed in the hydrolysis of esters by lipases.
