AbstractSummaryA new method for the preparation of aldehydes and ketones from alkylnitrites and BF3.Et2O or anhydrous ZnCl2is described. Twelve different nitrites were tested obtaining yields over 90%. When these Lewis acids were substituted by anhydrous AlCl3, the yield decreased to a value below 20%.
