Définir et discuter les différences épidémiologiques, pathologiques et pronostiques du cancer de la vessie chez les patients âgés.

We report a unique, pulsed intracavity optical parametric oscillator (IOPO) whose output spectrum is electro-optically (EO) tailorable based on an aperiodically poled lithium niobate (APPLN) working simultaneously as an optical parametric gain medium and an active gain spectrum filter in the system. We have successfully obtained from the IOPO the emission of single to multiple narrow-line signal spectral peaks in a near-infrared (1531 nm) band simply by electro-optic control. The power spectral density of the EO tailored signal can be enhanced by up to 10 times over the original (nontailored) signal.

La littératie en santé est la capacité d’un individu à accéder, comprendre, analyser et utiliser l’information afin de prendre des décisions concernant sa santé. Les outils du numérique occupent une place grandissante dans l’accès à l’information médicale. Des études ont montré qu’une faible culture numérique et médicale augmenterait les hospitalisations et les effets indésirables. La population des personnes âgées (PA) avec un cancer est donc susceptible d’être mise en difficulté par un faible niveau de littératie. L’objectif principal de cette étude était d’évaluer la faisabilité pour cette population d’un questionnaire décrivant la littératie en santé et en santé numérique.

We are developing metrology for rapid, quantitative assessment of elastic properties with nanoscale spatial resolution. Atomic force acoustic microscopy (AFAM) methods enable measurements of modulus at either a single point or as a map of local property variations. The information obtained furthers our understanding of nanopatterned surfaces, thin films, and nanoscale structures.

Landauer's principle states that the erasure of one bit of information requires thefree energy kTln 2. We argue that the reliability of the bit erasure process isbounded by the accuracy inherent in the statistical state of the energy source(“the resources”) driving the process. We develop a general framework describingthe “thermodynamic worth” of the resources with respect to reliable bit erasureor good cooling. This worth turns out to be given by the distinguishability of theresource's state from its equilibrium state in the sense of a statistical inferenceproblem. Accordingly, Kullback—Leibler relative information is a decisivequantity for the “worth” of the resource's state. Due to the asymmetry of relativeinformation, the reliability of the erasure process is bounded rather by the relativeinformation of the equilibrium state with respect to the actual statethan by therelative information of the actual state with respect to the equilibrium state(whichis the free energy up to constants).

Aromatic polyesters of p-hydroxybenzoic acid (PHBA) display a number of unique ordering processes, including 1) formation of single crystals of the homopolymer during polymerization, 2) reversible and irreversible topotactic transitions, and 3) ordering of the liquid crystalline melt of copolyesters of PHBA. In this paper data are presented to describe the incipient formation of crystals during the polymerization of PHBA. Electron diffraction data is used to define the nature of the topotactic transitions. Approaches for achieving isotropic, uniaxial and planar flow patterns for liquid crystalline copolyesters of PHBA are then described.
