Abstract

MRI-guided transurethral ultrasound ablation (TULSA) is an incision-free in-bore procedure for customized prostate ablation using directional thermal ultrasound under real-time MRI thermometry guidance and control. MRI thermometry during treatment measured 98% (95-99%) thermal coverage with ablation precision of ± 1.4 mm, confirmed by immediate posttreatment CE-MRI. The TACT Pivotal study of MRI-guided TULSA for whole-gland ablation in men with localized prostate cancer met its primary PSA endpoint, with low rates of toxicity and residual disease.
