The effectiveness of pediatric care is made more challenging to analyze by the need for specialist nursing and by the specific characteristics of pediatric patients, as opposed to adult patients, such as ongoing rapid growth and development, and different physical, cognitive, and emotional demands. Previous research has identified "Pediatric Nursing-Sensitive Outcomes" (PNSOs) in intensive care unit settings, though pediatric intensive care beds only represent a very limited percentage of hospital beds. To improve care quality and safety for a larger population of patients, this study aims to identify PNSOs in lower and medium-complexity care units (LMCCUs). This study uses the Delphi method to gather expert opinion on priority PNSOs in LMCCUs, with a 75 % consensus pass threshold. A preliminary list of PNSOs was identified from a literature review and used as inputs for two Delphi rounds conducted between January and March 2023. 27 panelists were recruited and passed 17 PNSOs: pressure injury; failure to rescue; patient/family experiences; central line-associated bloodstream infections; surgical site infections; healthcare-associated infections; medication errors; hospitalization breastfeeding continuity; peripheral intravenous infiltrate or extravasation; pediatric falls; pain assessment and management; vital sign monitoring; nutrition; discharge planning; family-centered care practice; healthcare environment; nurse voluntary turnover. This study contributes to research on PNSOs and builds consensus on priorities for LMCCUs. Future research should clinically evaluate these PNSOs and their association with organizational and professional variables often investigated in an adult but not a pediatric setting. • Peer and manager support can mitigate exposure to work-related stress and emotional exhaustion in particularly complex and demanding periods of work. • Proactive organizational interventions reduce nurses' work-related stress and increase their job satisfaction and quality of life, even during a healthcare emergency. • Support from superiors and colleagues, confirmation of trust from patients and family members, empowerment, autonomy, and relations with head nurses can increase job satisfaction and engagement at work. The purpose of this study was to verify whether a proactive organizational approach can limit nurses' work-related stress and help preserve their job satisfaction and quality of life during a health emergency. A longitudinal mixed methods study was conducted. Data were collected before and after the transformation into a SARS-CoV-2 Hospital and the implementation of organizational interventions. Focus groups were conducted to investigate quantitative data. After the implementation of interventions and as the pandemic progressed, work-related stress decreased and job satisfaction and quality of life increased. Through proactive organization, even during an emergency, nurses are prepared for working, and work-related stress due to changes is reduced. To investigate the simultaneous effects of work-related stress and job satisfaction on cardiovascular nurses' quality of work life. Prior research has investigated nurses' work-related stress, job satisfaction, and quality of work life as separate aspects and not in specific nursing settings, such as cardiovascular wards. Cardiovascular care settings can be particularly stressful for nurses, who are often faced with distress, depression and patients and caregivers' physical and psychological exhaustion. A multicenter cross-sectional study was conducted among 1126 cardiovascular nurses from 10 hospitals in Italy. Work-related stress, job satisfaction, and quality of work life were measured using valid and reliable questionnaires. Structural equation modeling was performed. Nurses working in critical cardiac care units experienced more stress than their colleagues working in other cardiac units. Nurses working in cardiac outpatient clinics reported lower quality of work life than those working in other cardiac settings. There was a negative relationship between work-related stress and nurses' quality of work life, which was partially mediated by job satisfaction, indicating that stress generated by the work environment negatively affect nurses' quality of work life by reducing their job satisfaction. Cardiovascular nurses' quality of work life is negatively affected by work-related stress. The work-related stress is mediated through job satisfaction. Nurse managers should maximize nurses' job satisfaction by providing comfort at work, supporting professional development opportunities, sharing organizational objectives, and actively listening and addressing nurses' concerns. Aim: To evaluate the outcomes of patients with vascular ulcers in outpatient settings after the implementation of the integrated computerized medical record. The computerization of care pathways can influence the clinical outcomes of hospitalized patients and represent a useful tool in the continuity of care of patients from hospitalization to the specialist outpatient clinic, filling an information and communication gap, up to promoting home management. Method: A computerized medical-nursing outpatient file was implemented at a university hospital, containing initial assessments, re-evaluations, treatments, photographs with vascular lesions, elaborated on the current TIMERS ® guidelines and principles and shared with the vascular surgeon. It also includes medical history, allergies, diagnostic reports, drug therapy, blood tests, pain assessment (NRS scale), lesion size and specialist advice. Results: 80 patients were taken care of from discharge in the Nursing Outpatient Clinic for continuity of care from September 2022 to December 2022. The sharing of clinical-assistance information between the two services and healthcare professionals (vascular surgeon and nurses specialized in wound care) creating a direct communication bridge between the professionals involved and allowed users to benefit from continuity, reducing treatment times and outpatient visits and improving the wound healing process. Conclusions: The patients benefited from a clinical and organizational integration of their treatment path, allowing constant monitoring of the vascular lesion and directly collecting the information necessary for the continuation of the therapeutic process. Aim To test a model to evaluate the influence of emotional labor on burnout and the mediating role of work-related stress reported by nurses. Nurses are particularly exposed to work-related stress caused by their relationships with their patients. Even though their emotional involvement can cause work-related stress for professionals, nurses recognize this as a fundamental part of the caring relationship, and it has been proved to be therapeutic for patients. The effects of emotional labor contribute to stress, and prolonged exposure to it contributes to burnout syndrome, with repercussions on nurses' health and quality of life, and patients' quality of care. A multicentre correlational study was conducted on a sample of 207 nurses from different clinical areas in three hospitals in Italy. A self-report questionnaire was used to measure levels of emotional labor, burnout and work-related stress. High levels of emotional labor and work-related stress increase burnout syndrome in nurses. Work-related stress mediates the relationship between emotional labor and burnout. The Oncology ward is identified as the major clinical area exposing nurses to emotional labor. The results of this study highlight the mediating role of work-related stress in the relationship between emotional labor and burnout, offering a new field for intervention to interrupt this process. • Burnout in nurses affects the quality of care offered to patients, and is directly influenced by emotional labor. • Stress plays a role of moderation in the relationship between emotional labor and burnout. • Results show opportunities for improving the care offered to patients, acting on nurses' stress and EL.
