- Abstract
The capillary tube technique of cell migration was employed to detect active graft rejection immunity in guinea pigs. Peritoneal exudate cells of grafted animals, when mixed with those of graft donors, caused moderate inhibition of migration. The lymph node cells from such graft-sensitized guinea pigs had a much more significant inhibitory influence on the migration of peritoneal cells from donor animals. When the peritoneal cells of reciprocally grafted animals were mixed, inhibition occurred to a somewhat greater extent than was seen with lymph node cells in unidirected sensitization. The extents of inhibition found in these experiments were smaller than those usually seen in the detection of delayed hypersensitivity to soluble proteins.
