With the acceleration of the urbanization process, agricultural water is occupied by domestic and industrial water. In order to ensure the food security of the river basin and the high-quality development of the agricultural economy, it is of great significance to carry out evaluation research on the carrying capacity of agricultural water resources. In this study, we take the Yellow River Basin as an example and use the data of 2019 as the input. Based on the construction of the evaluation index system, the improved entropy weight method is used to determine the evaluation index weight, the TOPSIS model is established to evaluate the carrying capacity of agricultural water resources, and the fuzzy comprehensive analysis method is adopted to verify the results. The results of the study show that Gansu, Ningxia, Inner Mongolia, Henan, and Shandong are in a critical state, Sichuan, Shaanxi, and Shanxi are in an overload state, and Qinghai Province is in a critical overload state. The carrying capacity of agricultural water resources in the whole basin is in an overload state. The carrying capacity of agricultural water resources in the Yell ow River Basin is not optimistic. To ensure the food security of the basin, it is urgent to study and improve the carrying capacity of agricultural water resources in the basin. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
