A bended ribbon biomass particle model was developed to explore the dynamic transport properties inside a riser reactor. Residence time distribution (RTD) of the particles was analyzed by using the Eulerian-Lagrange method. The effects of sampling height, particle density, particle size and gas-to-solid mass ratio on RTD were investigated. The coupled Computational Fluid Dynamics and Discrete Element Method (CFD-DEM) model was verified firstly by experimental data on pressure drop and residence time distribution density function. The simulation results demonstrated that the ribbon biomass particles display a typical annular-core spatial distribution during transportation. The RTD of particles exhibit an approximate single-peaked normal distribution. The mean residence time (MRT) can reach up to 0.7 s when the particle density is 1200 kg/m3. Particle with higher density has longer mean residence time. The flow patterns are closer to plug flow if particle length over 12 mm. The particle flow pattern is not sensitive to changes in particle density and size, while the gas-to-material mass ratio has a significant impact on it.

Macrophages remove apoptotic cells via phagocytosis, also known as efferocytosis, during inflammation to maintain tissue homeostasis. This process is accompanied by various metabolic changes in macrophages including the production of lipid metabolites by fatty acid oxygenases. Among these, highly reactive metabolites, called lipid-derived electrophiles (LDEs), modify cysteines and other nucleophilic amino acids in intracellular proteins. However, the landscape and functions of the modifications by these electrophilic metabolites have been poorly characterized. In this study, we used activity-based protein profiling to quantitatively profile the cysteine reactivity landscape and identify the potential targets of endogenous LDE modification during efferocytosis in mouse peritoneal macrophages. Using this methodology, we identified multiple cysteine sites that are highly likely to be modified by LDEs generated by 12/15-lipoxygenase (12/15-LOX), an efferocytosis-related fatty acid oxygenase that is highly expressed in peritoneal macrophages. Among these, actin-depolymerizing protein Cofilin-1 was found to be a target of 12/15-LOX-derived LDEs. In vitro Cofilin-1 activity was attenuated by 12/15-LOX-derived LDEs, and intracellular actin stabilization and efferocytosis were substantially enhanced by the LDE treatment of mouse peritoneal macrophages. These results highlighted the role of intracellular LDE modification during efferocytosis in macrophages.

Broadband shortwave infrared (SWIR) light-emitting diodes (LEDs), capable of advancing the next-generation solid-state smart invisible lighting technology, have sparked tremendous interest and will launch ground-breaking spectroscopy and instrumental applications. Nevertheless, the device performance is still suppressed by the low quantum efficiency and limited emission bandwidth of the critical phosphor layer. Herein, we report a high-performance Ni2+-doped garnet solid-solution broadband SWIR emitter centered at ∼1450 nm with a large full-width at half-maximum of ∼300 nm, thereby fabricating, for the first time, a directly excited Ni2+-doped garnet solid-solution phosphor-converted broadband SWIR LED device. A synergetic enhancement strategy, adding a fluxing agent and a charge compensator simultaneously, is proposed to deliver a more than 20-fold increase of the SWIR emission intensity and nearly 2-fold improvement of the thermal quenching behavior. The site occupation and mechanism behind the synergetic enhancement strategy are elucidated by a combination of experimental study and theoretical calculation. A prototype of the SWIR LED with a radiation flux of 1.25 mW is fabricated and utilized as an invisible SWIR light source to demonstrate the SWIR spectroscopy applications. This work not only opens a window to explore novel broadband SWIR phosphors but also provides a synergetic strategy to remarkably improve the performance of artificial SWIR LED light sources.

PTENP1 has been demonstrated to function as a tumor suppressor in several cancer cells. However, its expression and biological roles in gastric cancer (GC) have not yet been investigated. In this study, we demonstrated that PTENP1 was frequently decreased in GC tissues and cell lines, which might be partly associated with DNA hypermethylation, and lower PTENP1 expression was associated with larger tumor size, more advanced stage, deeper invasion depth and lymphatic metastasis. In addition, our data suggested that PTENP1 could regulate GC cell proliferation, apoptosis, migration and invasion in vitro. Furthermore, we demonstrated that PTENP1 could modulate the PTEN protein expression. Taken together, these results suggest that PTENP1 functions as a novel tumor suppressor in GC and its suppressive ability may be involved in the modulation of PTEN.

Artificial light-emitting diode (LED) light source, regarded as a front-runner technology for the promoting of plant growth, has attracted much attention toward the burgeoning fertilizer-free indoor plant cultivation. It still remains a challenge that explore a far-red-emitting phosphor of high-thermal stability. Overall, we report a Mn4+ion-doped ordered double perovskite tungstates prepared by high-temperature solid-state reaction method in air. The crystal structure, morphology, and fluorescence properties were investigated and discussed in detail. The far-red emission of the optimized CaSrMgWO6:1%Mn4+, covering the wavelength region of 630–780 nm, matches the absorption ranges of the chlorophyll aand phytochrome (Pfr). The value of Dq/B is estimated to be 2.81. Most notable is the excellent thermal quenching resistance of the Mn4+emission, remaining 86.7% at 150 °C, thereby suitably fabricating a far-red LED device. The LED light-driven regulation of the physiological and biochemical changes enables a proof-of-concept garlic cultivation. The growth of weight, stem length, and root length of the garlic was significantly promoted with the extra supply of the far-red light. This work demonstrates that the as-obtained far-red-emitting phosphor holds a promising perspective for the phosphor-converted far-red LED light sources toward the flourishing fertilizer-free indoor plant cultivation.
