Ozone (O3), as an environmentally friendly oxidant, is widely used to remove emerging pollutants and ensure the safety of the water supply, whereas the restricted accessibility of O3and limited collision frequency between pollutants and O3will inevitably reduce the ozonation efficiency. To promote the chemical reactions between O3and target pollutants, here we developed a novel gas–solid–liquid reaction interface dominated triphase ozonation system using a functional hydrophobic membrane with an adsorption layer as the O3distributor and place where chemical reactions occurred. In the triphase system, the functional hydrophobic membrane simultaneously improved the interface adsorption performance of emerging pollutants and the access pathway of O3, leading to a marked enhancement of interfacial pollutant concentration and O3levels. These synergistic qualities result in high ciprofloxacin (CIP) removal efficiency (94.39%) and fast apparent reaction rate constant (kapp, 2.75 × 10–2min–1) versus a traditional O3process (41.82% and 0.48 × 10–2min–1, respectively). In addition, this triphase system was an advanced oxidation process involving radical participation and showed excellent degradation performance of multiple emerging pollutants. Our findings highlight the importance of gas–solid–liquid triphase reaction interface design and provide new insight into the efficient removal of emerging pollutants by the ozonation process.

Odontogenesis is dependent on serial temporal and spatial epithelial-mesenchymal interaction. Multiple signaling networks have been identified in the inductive interactions of odontogenesis at the early stage. Technical obstacles and heterogeneity of the dental follicle (DF), which is the origin of the majority of periodontal tissues, have hindered the clarification of the molecular blueprint in early periodontal tissue development. This has in turn hindered studies of new/effective periodontal regeneration therapy. In this study, we comparatively analyzed the gene expression profiles of DF at E17 (when DF cells are histologically recognized) and PN2 (the initiation of periodontal development).

Conventional microbial electrolysis cell (MEC) for treating nitrobenzene (NB) suffers from insufficient mass transfer, leading to low removal efficiency. Electrochemical filtration (EF) was coupled with MEC to construct an EF-MEC system, which increased the removal rate of NB by 6.5 times in comparison with a conventional MEC. The EF process enhanced the convection mass transfer of NB and hence increased its removal. The EF process was also accompanied by a lower loading rate of NB so that 88.1% of NB in the feed could be reduced and the conversion ratio of NB to AN was high up to 98.2%. Therefore, the toxic effects on anode biofilms were relieved, leading to the enrichment of electroactive microorganisms, especially Geobacter, Desulfovibrio,and Rhodopseudomonas. The enriched anode electroactive microorganisms reciprocally promoted electrogenesis and hence the removal of NB. This EF-MEC system has functionally complemented the benefits between the EF and MEC processes, and it is very promising in treating NB-contained wastewater.

In order to improve the driving range of two-speed pure electric vehicle (EV), within the constraint of EV power performance, and the optimization objective is the minimum vehicle energy consumption under the NEDC (New European Driving Cycle) drive cycle, transmission ratios of an EV were optimized by using genetic algorithm (GA) under the economy shift schedule. The driving range and the power performance before and after transmission ratio optimization were analyzed. Simulation results show that the proposed optimization algorithm is effective, and the driving range improves by 1.73% and the acceleration time increases by 0.006s after optimization, but still meets the requirements of vehicle power performances.

Based on the rapid response advantages and test problems of the thin film resistor, the analysis and research on two aspects are focused: First, the thin film resistor is used as a current sensor which is applied in high-voltage DC transformer. The structure and performance of the thin film resistor are analyzed and simulated. Second, the dynamic characteristics of the thin film resistor are tested by indirect temperature measurement method. The problem of current rapid temperature measurement is solved. The dynamic temperature characteristic curve of the thin film resistor is analyzed by using multi-exponential spectral analysis method. The thermal characteristics of the fine structure for the thin film resistor are described by spectral characteristics. Moreover, more test information of the fine structure from comprehensive test results is separated to guide the improvement of the thin film resistor structure.

Abstract: Cattle experimentally infected withBabesia bigemina orTheileria sergenti or mixed infestations of the two parasites were treated with Total Alkaloid ofPeganum harmala L. The results showed that treatment was effective againstB. bigemina infection, had a marked effect on the course of infection withT. sergenti and some effect on the course of the mixed infection.

Abstract: Eighty two cattle naturally infected with haemosporidians were treated with total alkaloid hydrochloride ofPeganum harmale L. (0.5 mg/kg/day). Fifty eight cases withTheileria sergenti showed a cure rate of 86%; thirteen cases withTheileria annulata showed a cure rate of 85%; eight cattle infected withBabesia bigemina showed a cure rate of 88% and three cases ofAnaplasma marginale were completely cured. The results suggested that the curative effect of total alkaloid ofP. harmale was better than that of diminazene aceturate and produced minimal side effects. The alkaloid could also be administered to pregnant animals. It was concluded that the total alkaloid ofP. harmale showed a marked effect as a treatment for haemosporidican infections in cattle.
