Experimental data related to 40 MHz Argon plasma parameters in the RF power and pressure ranges of 25–200 W and 0.2–0.5 Torr are presented. Electron temperatures are obtained using both double probe and optical spectroscopy methods. Acceptable consistency between results is obtained. Double probe method is also used to obtain the plasma electron density. At any particular pressure value, the effect of increasing RF power seems to be restricted to increasing plasma electron density rather than affecting the plasma electron temperatures. Signature of the Paschen law effect is reflected on the relation between pressure and electron plasma density. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: This study examined predictors of psychological distress in a sample of 334 international students studying at different public universities in Turkey. The standard multiple regression analysis was used to clarify the contributions of individual characteristics, interaction with Turkish students, perceived discrimination, Turkish language proficiency, perceived cultural distance, integration to social life in Turkey, and life satisfaction to psychological distress of international students. The results revealed that life satisfaction, integration to social life in Turkey, Turkish language proficiency, and length of stay in the host country (Turkey) account for 32.8% of the variance in the international students’ psychological distress levels. The study concludes that factors contributing to psychological distress of foreign students are related to some individual characteristics and personal factors. Hence, foreign students need to go through a preparation process/program in their home country. Then a guidance and orientation program needs to be provided in the host country. This study investigated the differences among 403 middle adolescents regarding Marcia's four identity statuses in terms of perceived parental attitudes and gender. The Extended Objective Measure of Ego Identity Status (EOM-EIS-2) and Parental Education Scale (PAS) were used to collect data. Results showed that children of authoritative parents scored significantly higher on identity foreclosure than those of neglectful parents. Children of permissive parents scored significantly higher on identity foreclosure than those of neglectful parents. Abstract: We examined the effects of pre-operative conventional and hyperfractionated radiotherapy schedules on wound healing and tensile strength in 90 female Wistar rats weighing between 182 and 240 g. The animals were randomized into three groups (n =30 each). Group I was sham-irradiated. Group II (conventional) received 20 daily fractions of 200 cGy, to a total dose of 4000 cGy. Group III (hyperfractionated) received 40 fractions of 120 cGy, twice daily, to a total dose of 4800 cGy. Four weeks after radiotherapy, incision and primary repair with simple suturing was performed on one side of the neck. Twenty-one days after wounding, all the rats were sacrificed. Non-parametric Kruskal–Wallis and Mann–Whitney U-tests were used for the statistical analysis of wound tensile strength. The chi-squared test was used for the statistical analysis of the histopathologic findings. The hyperfractionated group had a significantly lower tensile strength than that of the control group (P =0.03, z=–2.18). According to the histopathologic findings, fibrosis was increased significantly in the hyperfractionated group as compared to the other groups (P =0.038, χ2 =6.52). Hyperfractionated radiotherapy significantly reduced the wound tensile strength in the early evaluation period as compared to the control group. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

The article presents a study which examines the accuracy of endometrial curettage in patients with endometrial carcinoma. Based on study of pre- and postoperative grades of 168 patients, 22 patients have endometrial hyperplasia and the remaining 136 patients had endometrial carcinoma preoperatively. It concludes that preoperative sampling with endometrial curettage for patients with endometrial carcinoma has a diagnostic accuracy of 91% for histopahologic types and 61% for grades of the tumors.
