A secondary field, caused by moving bunches of particles in decelerating structures, was found. The basic properties of electron linear accelerators depending on the effect of beam loading were analyzed. The operation of a linear accelerator in stationary and transitional modes, and with short pulse loading, was studied in detail.

Data on the relationship between the luminescent properties of aromatic amino acid residues and their physico-chemical properties in the protein macromolecule are presented. Some techniques and procedures for studying such states in proteins are discussed. Findings are cited concerning changes in the state of tryptophan protein residues produced during enzymatic reactions of urease and myosin.

Formation of the enzymatically active rnyosin-ATP complex produces a reversible change in the fluorescence of the tryptophan residues, which may be interpreted in terms of a structural rearrangement causing the tryptophan to enter a more hydrophobic environment. Fluorescence is used to follow the kinetics of the formation and decomposition of the enzyme-substrate complex.
