Career-best changes in body mass and physical fitness test performance among Division 1 college football players encompassing 28 years at the same institution. J Strength Cond Res37(4): 806–815, 2023—Understanding typical changes induced by collegiate American football strength and conditioning programs is essential for optimizing program design and athletic development. The purpose of the study was to evaluate body mass and physical fitness test performance changes at a Division 1 program with 28 years of coaching stability. Initial and personal record results were collected from 1,102 players who were subdivided into 3 position groups: combination players (COMBO), skill players (SKILL), and line of scrimmage players. Players followed a linear periodized training program with biannual body mass and performance testing. Tested variables included body mass, strength (bench press, back squat, and front squat), impulse (power clean, push jerk, and vertical jump [VJ]), and speed/agility (10-yard dash [10YD], 40-yard dash, and 20-yard shuttle). The fixed effect of time and position group on the dependent variables was assessed using linear mixed models. If appropriate, post hoc tests using the estimated marginal means were used to evaluate the source of any significant effects. Significance was accepted as p< 0.05. Normative values were produced by descriptive statistics (i.e., weighted means). All players and position groups increased/improved across all tested variables (p< 0.05). Improvements were 8.2%, 11.9–18.3%, 13.5–17.5%, and 3.6–6.0% for body mass, strength, impulse, and speed/agility, respectively. Line of scrimmage improvements were absolutely larger across most tested variables and relatively larger for back squat, VJ, and 10YD vs. SKILL and with VJ vs. COMBO/SKILL (p< 0.05). These results reveal typical expectations for 4–5 years performance improvements and that position group differences in trainability may influence game readiness and training needs.

Durch das Gesetz zur Umsetzung der zweiten Aktionärsrechterichtlinie (ARUG II) wurden §§ 111 a bis 111c, betreffend Geschäfte mit nahestehenden Unternehmen und Personen („related party transactions“), in das Aktiengesetz eingefügt. Definitionsnorm, welche den Anwendungsbereich der in §§ 111 b und 111c AktG normierten Instrumente zum Schutz der börsennotierten Gesellschaft und deren Aktionären vor Wertabflüssen bestimmt, ist § 111 a AktG. Zur Bestimmung des Begriffs der nahestehenden Person verweist § 111 a Abs. 1 Satz 2 AktG auf die internationalen Rechnungslegungsstandards. Einschlägig sind etwa 44 Paragraphen und 108 gleichrangige Anwendungsleitlinien. Eine Durchdringung des relevanten Normkomplexes aus rechtswissenschaftlicher und insbesondere gesellschaftsrechtlicher Perspektive zur Explikation des Begriffs der nahestehenden Person gemäß §§ 111 a ff AktG unter Aufarbeitung des auf den originären Anwendungsbereich der Standards zugeschnittenen, wirtschaftswissenschaftlich dominierten Schrifttums steht bislang aus. Dieser Aufsatz soll hierzu einen Beitrag leisten, Anknüpfungspunkt für weitere Diskussion und Anwendungshilfe für die Praxis sein.

Purpose: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) repair with a commercial modular stent-graft.Methods: Between February 1998 and May 2000, 66 consecutive patients (56 men; mean age 70 years, range 51–87) were recruited for a single-center study to examine the safety and efficacy of the Excluder stent-graft for endovascular AAA repair. The patients were predominantly asymptomatic (2 symptomatic) and categorized as ASA III or IV (62, 94%), with aneurysms that ranged from 35 to 89 mm in diameter (mean 56). Surveillance included clinical examination and computed tomographic aortography at discharge, 6 weeks, and at 6, 12, and 24 months.Results: All endoprostheses were implanted as intended, but 1 patient succumbed to an intraprocedural brainstem infarction (1.5% 30-day mortality rate). The major and minor morbidity rates were 21% and 4.5%, respectively. Primary technical success at discharge was 68% (45/66), largely as the result of a 30% (20/66) endoleak rate. The aneurysm exclusion rate at 30 days was 88%. During the mean 5.8-month follow-up, no device migration, limb kinking, aneurysm rupture, or limb thrombosis was observed.Conclusions: Endoluminal AAA repair with the bifurcated Excluder stent-graft is safe and efficacious in the short term. Longer surveillance will have to demonstrate if the excellent early results can be maintained over the years.
