Abstract: To investigate the effect of regenerative cooling channel geometry on pyrolysis of endothermic hydrocarbon fuel, a series of supercritical pyrolysis experiments of n-decane in the rectangular and circular tubes were conducted. Moreover, sensitivity analysis of production of propylene and methane as well as CFD simulation were also done. The results showed that gas yield and conversion in the circular tube with an inner diameter of 2 mm had a similar tendency with the one of 1.5 mm in inner diameter. The conversion in the circular tube was much less than that in the rectangular tube at the same outlet temperature. The heat sink of the rectangular tube at the same outlet temperature was larger than that of circular tubes, but the temperature at the corner of the rectangular tube was relatively high. According to the experimental data of the test tubes, a correlation between the conversion and the temperature in the rectangular and circular tubes at the same outlet temperature was fitted, providing a reference for the design of regenerative cooling channels.

Abstract: Abstract: Metal hydride represents a promising candidate for hydrogen storage, because the technique is essentially safe, compact and flexible. However, the properties of the metal hydride tend to change in repeated hydriding/dehydriding cycles, which will inevitably affect the performance of corresponding hydrogen storage system. The effect is investigated in this paper by numerical simulation using a commercial package COMSOL MULTIPHYSICS 3.5a, and a typical material- LaNi5 is chosen for discussion. Through sensitivity analysis, the influences of variation in key properties over repeated cycles on the charging time of a tank-type storage system, are evaluated and some useful conclusions are drawn. Abstract: Abstract: A comprehensive performance evaluation index that reflects the heat transfer capacity of the metal hydrides reactor was introduced, and some advantages of this index were discussed. A mathematical model of hydrogen adsorption and desorption was set up, and the validity of the model was confirmed by experimental data reported in literatures. Numerical simulations about working processes of two types of classical reactors (tubular and disc reactor) were performed. The results of comparative study show that the new index can be used in a quantitative evaluation of the reactor performance, and it is more reasonable than traditional ones. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
