Within tourism and hospitality, research and focus on the festival and event industry has been increasing. However, research on smaller art and culture festivals has been lagging. Small to medium-sized art and culture festivals and events are key contributors to society and impact well-being for local communities, resident attendees, and tourist attendees. More specifically, queer film festivals are experiencing a rapid increase in both quantity of festivals worldwide and total attendance at festivals in recent years. These festivals, which celebrate LGBT2Q+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Two-Spirit, Queer, and additional identities) people and communities, have a key place as history makers, storytellers, and community gathering places within the LGBT2Q+ community. The current research examined the diversity of attendees at the 31st annual Vancouver Queer Film Festival (VQFF) in 2019. VQFF is an initiative of Out on Screen, a LGBT2Q+-oriented organization based in Vancouver. The 31st edition of VQFF in 2019 attracted nearly 10,000 people over the 100+ film screening sessions during the 11-day festival. An examination of sociocultural impacts of VQFF on the local community and resident attendees' expectation for future programming was completed using a 54-question Qualtrics survey. Questions were asked about future programming, community benefits, subjective well-being, cultural/educational impacts, and demographics. With a sample size of 362, a structural equation modeling analysis showed a direct relationship between cultural/educational benefits, community benefits, and subjective well-being. In addition, community benefits and subjective well-being contributed positively to loyalty with an indirect connection between cultural/ educational benefits and loyalty. Regarding future programming, respondents had higher interest for art and cultural-related programming as opposed to education-related activities. The number of craft breweries in British Columbia has grown significantly in recent years, numbering over 140 in 2017. Very little is known about the effects of the craft brewery industry in British Columbia, specifically as it relates to impacts not related to brewery revenue and job creation. Beyond British Columbia, the craft beer industry has not empirically examined nonrevenue impacts in a manner that reflects the global growth of the sector. Tourism experiences, such as those offered by craft breweries, are becoming increasingly important for resilience and sustainable growth and success of destinations. The goal of this research was to determine who visitors to craft breweries are, how tourist and resident patrons differ, and what effects craft breweries have on tourists who visit breweries. A 55-item survey was distributed at 11 craft breweries in three regions in British Columbia during the summer of 2017. Results found differences between tourist and resident patrons in selfimage congruency, age, and travel party size, but no difference in gender, education, or household income. From a tourism standpoint, it was found that memories have a significant, positive impact on loyalty regarding the brewery and the destination. For tourists, strong connections were found between social involvement and both authenticity and place attachment for those who were more socially involved in craft beer. Comparisons to previous research in the wine industry provide additional commentary. Implications for craft breweries, destinations, and future research in this area are discussed. The relationship between economics and sustainability within the event industry is becoming increasingly important. Events with a reputation of not being sustainable (i.e., motorsport events) are chronically underserved in the literature. This research incorporated the revised New Ecological Paradigm (NEP) as a theoretical foundation to assess sustainability attitudes of motor racing event attendees at a series of major racing events in Monterey County, California (USA). The NEP assessment created the basis for examining relationships between sustainability attitudes and motorsport event patrons' characteristics including demographic information, tourist patrons' total trip spending, and per-day spending. Interestingly, patrons attending these traditionally nonenvironmentally sustainable events were found to have similar NEP scores to other event and nonevent research. Sustainability attitudes were not significantly different based on demographic variables, including age and income. However, an inverse relationship was found between environmental attitudes and spending. Tourist patrons with a less sustainable environmental worldview spent more per day and more per trip than those with a more sustainable environmental worldview. This study used choice modeling to assess demand by saltwater anglers and non-anglers, visiting the South Carolina coast, for value-added experiences and services associated with charter boat trips. Diverse non-fishing trip attributes including onboard amenities, onshore activities, quality of captain and crew, onboard nature-based tourism, onboard culture-based tourism and interpretation and education services were tested. Sampling of saltwater, recreational fishing, license owners and coastal tourists in 2013 produced 544 surveys (anglers = 277, non-anglers = 267). Study results showed that both groups placed importance on Quality of Captain and Crew, Onboard Amenities and Boat Fee. Only non-anglers placed importance on Onboard Nature-based Tourism. The marginal willingness to pay of Quality of Captain and Crew (high level) was $115 for anglers and $69 for non-anglers and of Onboard Amenities (high level) was $41 for anglers and $63 for non-anglers. Volunteers play a critical role in the production of festivals and events in many ways, such as providing assistance to artists and vendors, direction for attendees, and grounds keeping. However, determining what motivates volunteers, how they become satisfied, and how likely they are to continue volunteering at an event has been overlooked. This is especially true in reference to the music festival industry, which has seen unparalleled growth in the last decade. In order to further understand music festival volunteers, the concept of self-image was examined at the 2013 Austin City Limits Music Festival to determine linkages between self-image congruency and motivation, satisfaction, and intent to return using structural equation modeling. This music festival is of specific interest to the development of understanding the role of self-image in festivals and events due to the scale and size of the festival as well as the festival's requirement of being a local resident in order to volunteer. As such, the importance of understanding these local volunteers at a mega-event, which hosts 75,000 attendees per day over two 3-day weekends, is vital. This study found that self-image congruency has an impact on motivation, satisfaction, and intent to return and develops practical linkages and theoretical support for the consideration of self-image congruency when examining festival and event volunteers in a tourism context.
