The decarbonization of buildings and communities has become a requirement for sustainability. In this regard, South Korea has set a target of net-zero-energy buildings, wherein all public buildings with a floor area exceeding 500 m2must cover 80% of the primary energy consumption using renewable energy systems by 2030. This study investigated the improvement and maximization of energy from renewable energy systems through energy sharing between buildings by retrofitting an existing community. The feasibility of achieving a positive energy balance was investigated via simulations. The existing community is comprised of two residential houses and two office buildings. Through the retrofit design planning of the existing community, the total capacity of renewable energy could be applied at 75.4 kW after renovation. Through simulation, power generation rates of the building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) and photovoltaic and thermal (PVT) systems were analyzed. The renewable energy generation rates were 2.48 times higher when using BIPV and PVT systems. Therefore, the analysis of the annual energy balance of the community indicated that 46.2% of the surplus energy can be generated via renewable energy systems, compared with that of conventional community. Thus, the retrofit community can be renovated into a positive energy community.

Alicea, SK, Parrott, AD, Manos, TM, and Kwon, YS. Comparison of the affective responses to continuous training and high-intensity interval training protocols: application of the dual-mode model. J Strength Cond Res35(11): 3069–3075, 2021—High-intensity interval training (HIIT) is time-efficient and has physiological benefits similar to or greater than that of continuous training (CT); however, there are mixed results regarding how HIIT protocols influence affect. The purpose of this study was to compare acute affective responses between HIIT and CT protocols over time using the Dual-Mode Model (DMM) as a theoretical framework. Subjects included 12 healthy women (aged 19–28 years) who completed a HIIT protocol consisting of a 2-minute work interval (100% V̇o2max) followed by a 2-minute rest interval (∼55% V̇o2max), and a CT protocol set at the workrate corresponding to their respiratory compensation point (RCP; ∼80% V̇o2max). Protocols were matched for average intensity, total duration, and energy expenditure. After blood pressure, anthropometrics, body composition, and V̇o2max measurements were taken, responses were recorded for affect (Feeling Scale [FS]), arousal (Felt Arousal Scale [FAS]), and rate of perceived exertion (RPE) before each protocol, during the last 10 seconds of every 2 minutes during the protocol, and at time points 2, 5, and 10 minutes after the protocol. Heart rate was also monitored continuously, and exercise enjoyment was measured before and after exercise. A repeated-measures analysis of variance revealed no significant differences in affect between CT (M = 2.5, SD= 2.1) and HIIT (M = 2.6, SD= 2.1) protocols over the duration of the exercise. There were no significant differences in mean RPE between CT (M = 12.9, SD= 2.7) and HIIT (M = 13.0, SD= 1.9) protocols (t= 0.333, p= 0.745) or in enjoyment between CT (M = 2.3, SD= 1.1) and HIIT (M = 2.0, SD= 0.9) protocols (t= −0.288, p= 0.492). In addition, based on visual inspection, the general patterning of the mean FS and FAS values between HIIT and CT was similar within the circumplex model, supporting the DMM. In conclusion, a HIIT protocol at V̇o2max and 1:1 exercise:rest interval did not result in a different affect response, perceived exertion, or enjoyment level when compared with a CT protocol at RCP.

Hernandez, DJ, Healy, S, Giacomini, ML, and Kwon, YS. Effect of rest interval duration on the volume completed during a high-intensity bench press exercise. J Strength Cond Res35(11): 2981–2987, 2021—Between-set rest intervals (RIs) are one of the most important variables in resistance training; however, no known research has investigated the effects of RIs greater than 5 minutes during high-intensity strength training. The purpose of this research was to examine the effects of 3 different RIs on repetition sustainability and training volume (sets × reps × resistance) during a high-intensity bench press exercise. Fifteen resistance-trained male subjects (mean ± SD, age = 25.5 ± 4.5 years, and bench press 1 repetition maximum [1RM] ratio [1RM/body mass] = 1.39 ± 0.1) completed 3 experimental sessions, during which 4 sets of the bench press were performed with 85% of 1RM load. Subjects performed the bench press using 3 different RIs in a random counterbalanced design. Data were analyzed using both a one- and two-way analysis of variance with repeated measures. As sets progressed, repetitions were significantly different (p< 0.05) between all RIs, and only the 8-minute RI (p< 0.05) allowed for the complete sustainability of repetitions over 4 consecutive sets. Subjects attained the greatest training volume (p< 0.05) using an 8-minute RI between sets compared with a 2- or 5-minute RI. Similarly, a significantly greater training volume was achieved using the 5-minute RI compared with the 2-minute RI. Resistance-trained men, with the goal of greater volume during strength training, would benefit from longer RIs, specifically using an 8-minute RI between 4 consecutive sets of a bench press exercise.

This research aims to study the effect of climate change on the phenology, growth, and physiological traits of Silene capitataKom., a Korean endangered species II. This study increased CO2concentration in a closed glass greenhouse, with the daily mean temperature and CO2concentration respectively being 4.61 °C and 93.63 ppm higher than the outside temperature (ambient conditions, control). The seeds of S. capitatawere sown in control and treatment environments in March 2013 while seedlings were transplanted into individual pots in May 2013. To research phenological changes, the first day of the flowering and ripening of the plants transplanted in 2013 and first day of leafing in 2014 were observed. The growth and physiological responses of mature leaves were also studied in 2013. There was no difference in the first day of flowering, but the first day of ripening was earlier in the treatment group than the control group. There was no difference in the number of rosette leaves between the two groups, but leaf area was wider in the treatment group than the control group. Transpiration rate and stomatal conductance were higher in the treatment group than the control group, chlorophyll content decreased, and photosynthetic rate and water use efficiency were the same for both groups. As a result of simple regression analysis among the transpiration rate, stomatal conductance, photosynthetic rate, and water use efficiency, stomatal conductance increased when transpiration rate increased. Stomatal conductance increased with photosynthetic rate in the control unlike in the treatment group. The photosynthetic rate and water use efficiency increased with transpiration rate in the control group unlike in the treatment group. Furthermore, water use efficiency increased as photosynthetic rate increased in both groups. Due to high CO2concentration, the photosynthetic rate was no longer controlled by the stomata, which appeared to suppress the excessive production of photosynthetic products by reducing chlorophyll content. It is believed that the phenological responses of S. capitataunder climate change conditions will advance and that stable growth will be difficult in regions lacking moisture due to the high transpiration rate.

Background Bisphosphonates are widely used as bone stabilizers, which can cause major side effects including bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (BRONJ) that occurs more frequently in the mandible. Consequently, there is a need for a detailed investigation of BRONJ of the maxilla and, in particular, of involvement of the maxillary sinus.Objective Our aim was to evaluate the characteristic radiologic and clinical manifestations in patients with maxillary sinusitis and a history of long-term bisphosphonate use.Methods Between January 2015 and July 2018, 55 patients with symptoms consistent with chronic rhinosinusitis who underwent a paranasal sinus computed tomography (CT) and had a history of >12 months of bisphosphonate therapy were included in the analysis.Results Radiologically and clinically evident chronic rhinosinusitis was noted in 24 of the 55 patients, of whom more than half (14/24, 58.3%) had BRONJ. The CT studies demonstrated that the maxillary sinus was involved in all 24 patients, characterized by unilateral involvement (70.8%) and bony remodeling in the posterior maxillary region (90.5%). The evidence of osteitis on CT and/or single-photon emission CT was observed in the majority of cases (19/21, 90.5%) and 12 patients (50.0%) had oroantral fistula. However, there were no differences in the clinical appearance of the diseases with respect to the radiologic aspects.Conclusions Besides its well-known effects on the mandible, long-term bisphosphonate use can also affect the maxillary sinus, with typical clinical and radiological manifestations.

In this study, we aimed to provide the recommended occupational exposure limits (OELs) for multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and graphene nanomaterials based on data from a subchronic inhalation toxicity study using a lung dosimetry model. We used a no observed adverse effect level (NOAEL) of 0.98 mg m−3and 3.02 mg m−3in rats for MWCNTs and graphene, respectively. The NOAELs were obtained from a 13-week inhalation study in rats. The deposition fractions of MWCNTs and graphene in the respiratory tract of rats and humans were calculated by using the multi-path particle dosimetry model (MPPD model, v3.04). The deposition fraction in the alveolar region was 0.0527 and 0.0984 for MWCNTs and 0.0569 and 0.1043 for graphene in rats and human lungs, respectively. Then, the human equivalent exposure concentrations (HECs) of MWCNTs and graphene were calculated according to the method by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). The HEC was estimated to be 0.17 mg m−3for MWCNTs and to be 0.54 mg m−3for graphene, which was relevant to the rat NOAEL of 0.98 mg m−3and 3.02 mg m−3for MWCNTs and graphene, respectively. Finally, we estimated the recommended OELs by applying uncertainty factors (UFs) to the HEC as follows: an UF of 3 for species differences (rats to humans), 2 for an experimental duration (subchronic to chronic), and 5 for inter-individual variations among workers. Thus, the OEL was estimated to be 6 μg m−3for MWCNTs and 18 μg m−3for graphene. These values could be useful in preventing the adverse health effects of nanoparticles in workers.

In this study, we observed their growth and physiological responses using a variety of duty ratio under the mixed light using red, blue, and white lights. The red+blue mixed light was treated with 95%, 90%, 85%, 80%, and 75% duty ratios and red+blue+white mixed light with 85% and 70% duty ratios. We examined the width and length of leaves, total number of leaves, and number of shoots to examine their growth responses. The physiological responses were studied by measuring their photosynthetic rate, transpiration rate, stomatal conductance, water use efficiency, chlorophyll content, and fluorescence (Fo, Fm, and Fv/Fm). We found that lower duty ratio caused the length and width of the leaves to grow longer under red+blue mixed light but that it did not cause any difference in the red+blue+white mixed light condition. In addition, there was no difference in the number of leaves and shoots among all treatments. In the red+blue mixed light condition, the photosynthetic rate was no difference, but both transpiration rate and stomatal conductance were the highest at 95% duty ratio than in other ratios. Water use efficiency pattern was similar to that of photosynthetic rate; water use efficiency was no difference. Chlorophyll content was the highest at 95% duty ratios, and it was the least at 90%, 85%, and 75% duty ratio. Foand Fmvalues were relatively high at 85% and 80% duty ratio and low at 90% duty ratio while Fv/Fmshowed no difference. Under the red+blue+white mixed light, all physiological items showed no difference between 70 and 85% treatments. But, photosynthetic rate, water use efficiency, chlorophyll content, and Fv/Fmwere relatively greater in the red+blue+white mixed light than in the red+blue mixed light. Therefore, red+blue+white mixed light treated with 70% duty ratio could lessen the environmental stress and save more power when cultivating Silene capitatain a plant factory.

This study was conducted from March 2011 to February 2013 in order to evaluate the ecosystem value by examining the organic carbon distribution and cycling in the Quercus glaucaforest, evergreen oak community at Seonheul-Gotjawal, Jeju Island. The amount of organic carbon distribution was 124.5 ton C ha− 1in 2011 and 132.63 ton C ha− 1in 2012 for aboveground biomass. And it was 31.13 ton C ha− 1in 2011 and 33.16 ton C ha− 1in 2012 for belowground biomass. In total, the amount of organic carbon distribution in plants was 155.63 and 165.79 ton C ha− 1in 2011 and 2012, respectively. In 2011 and 2012 respectively, the amount of organic carbon distribution was 3.61 and 6.39 ton C ha− 1in the forest floor and it was 78.89 and 100.71 ton C ha− 1in the soil. As shown, most carbon was distributed in plants. Overall, the amount of organic carbon distribution of the Q. glaucaforest was 238.13 ton C ha− 1in 2011 and 272.89 ton C ha− 1in 2012. In 2011, the amount of organic carbon fixed in plants through photosynthesis (NPP) was 14.22 ton C ha− 1year− 1and the amount of carbon emission of soil respiration was 16.77 ton C ha− 1year− 1. The net ecosystem production (NEP) absorbed by the Q. glaucaforest from the atmosphere was 5 ton C ha− 1year− 1. The carbon storage value based on such organic carbon distribution was estimated about 23.81 mil won ha− 1in 2011 and 27.29 mil won ha− 1in 2012, showing an annual increment of carbon storage value by 3.48 mil won ha− 1. The carbon absorption value based on such NEP was estimated about 500,000 won ha− 1year− 1.

Medial femoral torsion (MFT) is a common pathologic gait in cerebral palsy (CP) children that can be corrected by femoral derotational osteotomy (FDO). It is not clearly known as to how much various gait parameters change after FDO. The aim of this study was to quantify changes in gait parameters after FDO. The study group included 19 young CP patients (28 limbs, age<20 years, average age: 13.2 years) with symptomatic MFT, treated with distal FDO. The study group was divided into two groups: the unilateral FDO group (UG) and the bilateral FDO group (BG). The mean degree of derotation was 24.6° (25.0° for UG, 24.4° for BG). Pre-FDO and post-FDO values of Staheli’s rotational profiles and kinematic data were compared. A paired t-test and Pearson’s correlation were used for statistical analysis. The mean internal hip rotation was 71.4±6.9° before surgery and 48.6±10.7° after surgery in the UG (P<0.05) and it was 63.8±15.8° before surgery and 40.9±9.2° after FDO in the BG (P<0.05). The change in the foot progression angle (FPA) was 12.9° in the UG group (P<0.05) and 12.6° in the BG group (P<0.05). The degree of FPA had changed by about a half of the surgical derotation angle. Changes in the mean hip rotation during gait were 14.8° in the UG (P<0.05) and 6.7° in the BG (P<0.05) groups. The overall pelvic rotation was not changed after surgery. However, in patients with preoperative compensatory pelvic rotation of more than 5°, there was a change of 5.3±4.8° in the UG and 6.6±1.54° in the BG after surgery (P<0.05). There was also a trend showing that the younger the patient, the more the pelvic rotation changed (P=0.069). In-toeing gait because of MFT improved with FDO in CP patients. The expected degree of postoperative correction of FPA and hip rotation is about a half of the FDO degree. The degree of compensatory pelvic rotation should be considered to determine the correction angle of FDO, especially in young patients with preoperative pelvic rotation of more than 5°.

In this study, the growth and reproductive response of seedlings, grown in plastic pots with sand, to moisture and nutrients were analyzed in order to study the environmental conditions required to create an alternative habitat for Epilobium hirsutumL., an endangered plant. Vegetative and reproductive growths of Epilobium hirsutumL. are accelerated with increase in moisture and organic matter content in the soil. Among vegetative organs, the number of runners related to asexual reproduction was the highest when the moisture content was over 25% and nutrient content between 7 and 14% in the soil. But the number of flowers related to flowering responses, among reproductive organs, was the highest when the moisture content was maintained at 75% and when nutrient content was 21% in the soil. The number of seeds, related to sexual reproduction, was the highest when the moisture content was over 25% and nutrient content between 14 and 21%. The study results show that a place with high moisture and nutrient content in the soil is advantageous to asexual and sexual reproduction of Epilobium hirsutumL. Therefore, we must serve periodically nutrient and seeds to sustain population in in situ conservation. Furthermore, it is advisable to create in riverside where abundant nutrient content have, making alternative habitat of Epilobium hirsutumL. Also, we must find species that have high contribution degree index through vegetation survey.

The dual microcatheter technique is an alternative treatment for stent-assisted coiling in acutely ruptured wide-necked aneurysms because of no antiplatelet therapy. We assessed the safety and efficacy of this technique in ruptured wide-necked aneurysms. Between March 2008 and March 2016, 56 acutely ruptured aneurysms were treated with the dual microcatheter technique. The angiographic results, treatment-related complications, and clinical outcome were documented. Angiographic follow-up was available in 37 patients at a mean of 20.6 months (6 to 81 months). On the postembolization angiograms, 27 (48.2%) aneurysms showed complete occlusion (Raymond 1), 15 (26.8%) showed neck remnant (Raymond 2), and 14 (25.0%) showed body remnant (Raymond 3). Treatment-related complications occurred in seven patients (12.5%) and six patients remained asymptomatic. The permanent complication rate was 1.8% (1/56). A good outcome (modified Rankin Scale (mRS) score, 0–2) was observed in 64.3% of patients at the time of discharge. Five patients had died, all of the sequelae of subarachnoid hemorrhage. The overall mortality rate was 8.9% (5/56); however, the treatment-related mortality rate was 0%. Of the 37 aneurysms for which angiographic follow-up was available, 21 (56.8%) aneurysms demonstrated recanalization. Five aneurysms with recanalization were retreated endovascularly. There was one aneurysm re-rupture on follow-up and it rebled 21 months after the initial procedure. The dual microcatheter technique is a safe and effective treatment for acutely ruptured wide-necked aneurysms due to low treatment-related complication and mortality rate. However, the high rate of postembolization incomplete occlusion and recanalization remains as the main challenge.

Arteriovenous graft for hemodialysis vascular access is a widely used technique with many advantages. However, it has crucial complications with graft thrombosis and infection. We recently experienced an unusual case of arteriovenous graft complication involving graft thrombosis related to fistula formation between the graft and the natural vein with infection. We diagnosed this condition using Doppler ultrasound and computed tomography angiography. Successful surgical treatment including partial graft excision and creation of a secondary arteriovenous fistula using an inadvertently dilated cephalic vein was performed. The dialysis unit staff should keep this condition in mind and try to prevent this complication.

Delayed cranioplasty after decompressive craniectomy was performed using various reconstruction materials and methods. Bone graft infection is a major concern with cranioplasty. This study identified factors that are related to bone graft infection after cranioplasty.

To assess the correlation between central corneal thickness (CCT) and anterior scleral thickness (AST) in Korean patients with normal tension glaucoma (NTG) and primary open angle glaucoma (POAG).

Various bacteria were isolated from the casing layer soil of the culture bed of P. ostreatusand their role in fruiting body induction of the edible mushroom, P. ostreatus, was investigated. Analysis of the bacterial community isolated from the casing layer soil revealed that the composition of genera and number of cultivable bacteria were different for each sterilizing treatment. Bordetellawas predominant in the bulk soil whereas Flavobacteriumwas predominant after sterilization of the casing layer soil. Fluorescent Pseudomonaswas predominant in the non-sterilized casing layer soil. Total number of the bacterial genera in the casing layer soil was higher than that in the bulk soil. In particular, an increase in the fluorescent Pseudomonaspopulation was observed in the non-sterilized casing layer accompanied by induction of fruiting body and enhanced mushroom production yield. The results suggested that specific bacterial populations in the casing layer play an important role in the formation of primodia and the development of basidiome in P. ostreatus.

Since layup orientation of the laminates greatly influences its properties, an NDE technique for layup orientation determination would be very beneficial. It is desirable to perform contact-less nondestructive evaluation to assess material properties and defects of composites because of permeation of coupling medium such as water. An ultrasonic technique would be very useful, which could be used to test the part after and before curing laminates and requires less time than the optical test. First of all, conventional ultrasonic experimentations were conducted using water as a transmitting medium. In contrast, air-coupled ultrasound is non-contact and has clear advantages over water-coupled testing. Therefore ultrasonic systems for air-coupled and conventional ultrasound were set out for different measurement modalities for acquiring ultrasonic signals as a function of in-plane azimuthal angle. Firstly, a manual scanner was built for making transmission measurements using a pair of normal-incidence shear wave transducers to find the effect of fiber misorientations of orthotropic composite laminates. With the transmitter and receiver on the same side of a laminates, Lamb waves were generated and used for the amplitude magnitude. As a result, it was confirmed that the influence of fiber direction in the laminates could be detected by the non-contacting or contacting inspection from one-side and the detectability was improved by using shaped tube for reducing the specular reflection on transmitting. Furthermore, a vector decomposition model was utilized for lay-up error of the orthotropic laminates. Finally, aircoupled results well corresponded somewhat to those of contact ultrasonic examination in the orthotropic laminates.

A nondestructive technique would be very beneficial, which could be used to test the part before (uncured) and after curing CF/Epoxy. A new method for nondestructively determining the ply layup in a composite laminate is presented. The method employs a normal-incidence longitudinal ultrasound to perform C-scan of ply interfaces of the laminate, and extracts fiber orientation information from the ultrasonic reflection in the laminate. Using two-dimensional spatial Fourier transform, interface C-scan images were transformed into quantitatively angular distribution plots to show the fiber orientation information therein and to determine the orientation of the ply. In order to develop these methods into practical inspection tools, an automated system using a motor has been developed for different measurement modalities for acquiring ultrasonic effects of ply-layup error. Therefore, it is found that the efficiency of developed system shows between the practical testing and model in characterizing cured/uncured ply-layup error of the laminates. A C-scan image of a ply interface seem to have the ply-layup error information of the two neighboring plies of CF/Epoxy composite laminates.

abstractFor economic evaluation of cooling plant equipment in the preliminary design stage, it is necessary to simplify energy prediction method, which should include the efficiency corrected by part-load ratio. This study proposed a simplified correlation method with regression equations of time-average partial loads and chiller capacity. DOE-2 program was used to carry out a parametric study of twelve variables. Five input variables were considered to be significant and were used in the regression equations. To test the accuracy of this method, calculated results were compared with DOE-2 simulated results. Testing showed good agreement between these two results with 5.9-7.6% error. It is hoped that this method can be used as an easy prediction tool for comparing energy use of different cooling plants during the early design stage.

ABSTRACT This study was conducted to determine the effects of diflubenzuron (DFB) on the growth and development of the silkworm, Bombyx mori(L.). The DFB treatment extended abnormally the larval duration and affected negatively on larval spinning of the 5th instar. All the larvae treated with high DFB concentration (2.5 × 10‐1and 2.5x 10‐1μg/μl) lost their spinning capability and finally died, whereas 62% of larvae treated with low DFB concentration (2.5 × 10‐1μg/μl)) spinned cocoon. The larval weights depended sensitively on the DFB treatment period rather than on the DFB concentration. The DFB treatment decreased the larval maturity less than 6% without regard to the concentration and treatment period. All the larva, when treated with DFB before the 5th days of the 5th instar, were not matured.

When various properties of poly[2,5‐di(n‐alkyloxy)methyl‐p‐phenylenenaphthalene‐1,8:4,5‐diimide]s (Cm‐NAPIs, m = 4, 6, 8) as aromatic 6‐membered polyimides were compared with those of poly[2,5‐di(n‐alkyloxy)methyl‐p‐phenylenepyromellitimide]s (Cm‐PYPIs, m = 4, 6, 8) as 5‐membered ones, it was deduced that O atoms of C=O of Cm‐NAPIs are not coplanar with their imide ring plane. This noncoplanarity led us necessarily to assuming that the 6‐membered ring polyimide chains should have cis/trans‐like isomeric structures. Detailed spectroscopic studies and ab initio calculations for appropriate model compounds are provided to support our assumption.

Background: Standing biomass, litter production, rate of litter decomposition, amount of litter on forest floor, and amount of soil organic carbon distribution were investigated from March 2016 to November 2018 in order to evaluate the ecosystem value through organic carbon distribution in the Pinus densifloraforest at Namsan, Seoul Metropolitan City. Results: The amount of organic carbon in the Pinus densifloraforest was 261.09 ton C ha−1during the research period, and fixed organic carbon in plant through net photosynthesis was 3.2 ton C ha−1year−1. The organic carbon in plant was 62.77 ton C ha−1(24.04%), in litter on the forest floor was 3.65 ton C ha−1(1.40%), and in soil was 194.67 ton C ha−1(74.56%). The value of plant, litter on forest floor, and soil organic carbon distribution were each 6,277,000 won ha−1, 365,000 won ha−1, and 19,467,000 won ha−1. The value per ton of fixed organic carbon in plant through net photosynthesis was 320,000 won ha−1year−1and the value of ecosystem services stored in carbon in the Namsan forest ecosystem was about 26.1 million won ha−1for 3 years. Conclusions: The results of this study suggest that the pine forests of Namsan rapidly decompose leaves due to the high atmospheric temperature and accumulate a large amount of organic carbon in the soil to provide climate control regulatory service function.

Double-tiered subchondral support (DSS) procedures with optimal distal dorsal cortical distance (DDD) have been reported to be effective in treating distal radius fractures, but there have been no studies of osteoporotic distal radius fractures in elderly patients. In this study, we demonstrated the efficacy of the DSS procedure with optimal DDD using a variable-angle volar locking plate system for the treatment of osteoporotic distal radius fractures in elderly patients.

Vertical diodes for cross-point phase change memory were realized by selective epitaxial growth (SEG) technique using cyclic chemical vapor deposition method. H2/SiH4/Cl2 cyclic CVD system was introduced in batch-type vertical furnace equipement, replacing conventional single-wafer H2/dichlorosilane/HCl CVD system. It provided excellent capacity of 40 wafers per batch. Selectivity loss which is one of the most crucial features in SEG process for diode application was controlled with both the amount of SiH4 and Cl2 and the period of gas supply, and practical value of selectivity loss was confirmed to be less than 100 in 200-mm wafers. Structural and electrical properties of pn diodes were investigated, and cyclic SEG silicon diode showed more eligible electrical ability to current flow than that of poly-si in terms of forward current and ideality factor as well as lower reverse leakage current.
