Central Queensland University (CQU) is different from most Australian universities. From the 1980s, its engagement with and commitment to international education extended across CQU's faculties and courses, bringing vast change in two decades. This chapter identifies the various stages of CQU's international education activity and determines both the motives and outcomes of a range of activities on- and offshore. To what extent were the motives for its unprecedented expansion in the later 1990s driven by limited access to domestic students and funding? What kinds of education was it in a position to provide? The resulting contextual analysis of the advantages and vagaries of international education at CQU is based upon a close study of the paper-based and online records over the period in question. In Queensland, Australia, senior social workers have pioneered the coordination of tissue donation at coronial autopsies, seeking consent for the donation of heart valve, bone and eye tissue after sudden deaths which have been reported to the coroner. The urgent need for tissue for transplantation is balanced with the counselling, information and practical needs of potential donor families in their shock and grief. Social work assessment, advocacy, liaison, counselling, crisis intervention and particularly communication skills have been utilised, both as an integral component of obtaining informed consent and in working with families' experience of grief and loss in sudden, traumatic bereavement. This tissue donation program, over a period of eight years, has maximised the availability of tissue with its high donation rates, while upholding the rights and needs of potential donor families through provision of an effective social work service. The paper will reflect upon key social work knowledge and processes which have respected the subjective experience of client and worker while working within a medical model. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Chapter 4.6 of the book "Second Language Writing Strategies: A Study of Three Chinese Post-Graduate Students" is presented. It looks at the writing strategies of Ally, a 41-year-old Chinese post-graduate student at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), while writing academic papers in English in an authentic writing context. It highlights Ally's skill at acquiring all kinds of assistance from outside during her writing process. It notes that concerns over her language proficiency limits Ally in setting her academic goals.

Chapter 4.7 of the book "Second Language Writing Strategies: A Study of Three Chinese Post-Graduate Students" is presented. It presents a summary of the case of a Chinese post-graduate student who is doing an academic research at Queensland University of Technology. The questionnaire, the semi-structured interview, the retrospective post-writing discussion, the assignment drafts and final paper are analysed. The student struggled to adapt herself to the English academic community since English writing is different from Chinese writing.
