A biography of James Plemon Coleman, the former Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, is presented. He was born on March 12, 1947 in Choctaw County, Mississippi and studied at the University of Mississippi. He then enrolled at the George Washington University Law School for the law graduate program. He became the youngest member of the Mississippi Supreme Court in 1950. The article also includes a collection of Coleman's judicial papers of political achieves.
