Abstract: The fast urbanization in Chongqing metropolitan has had a great impact on the environment and resources. The water resource has been recognized as one of the key elements to the sustainable development of this region. This paper presents a method of predicting the regional Water Resource Carrying Capacity (WRCC) using the supply-demand balance model. The method predicts that the WRCC of Chongqing metropolitan is from 8.8 million persons to 14 million persons in 2020 and it will not become the bottleneck of the social and economic development of Chongqing Metropolitan in the coming period of time. However the climate change and its impact on the regional ecology will have an effect on it. The results show that the usable capacity of Passing-by water is the most important element of the WRCC of Chongqing metropolitan therefore the protection of the ecological environment in the upstream area is very important. Abstract: This paper conducts further study in sedimentary environment of Ordovician and living environment of Sinoceras in Wansheng Stone Forest through the analysis of biofacies characteristic of Sinoceras of this district. Combined with the study of mollusk growth pattern, this paper initially studies the reason why Sinoceras has large individual scale. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: In this paper, a dynamic low-carbon model was developed to show a quantitative and consistent future snapshot. This study presents three scenarios for Chongqing''s energy consumption and related CO2 emissions up to 2020, which includes basic development scenario, macro-policy control development scenario and low carbon development scenario. It explains the crucial technologies for Chongqing city as it leaves a business-as-usual trajectory and embarks on a low carbon pathway. A major finding from the scenario analysis is that low carbon and energy-saving policies can dramatically improve Chongqing''s position. Under the low carbon scenario, several suggestions for policy making are proposed. This dynamic low-carbon model would benefit from the allocation of decision-making powers in the areas of regulation, policy-making and planning for low carbon development. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: This paper presents a preliminary assessment of the potential for CO2 geological storage in Chongqing, China. Currently, there are about 116 large stationary CO2 point emission sources which emit 85.57 MtCO2/yr totally. These stationary sources are mainly belonged to four industries: cement, power plant, iron & steel and synthetic ammonia industries. In the three kinds of geological storage formations, namely, deep saline formations (DSFs), unmineable coalbeds and depleted gas fields, the total basin-scale theoretical storage capacities of CO2 reach 24.36 Gt, equivalent to about 285 times of the annual total CO2 emissions in Chongqing. The DSFs have the largest potential storage capacity accounting for 98% of the total storage capacities. The matching results between CO2 point emission sources and candidate geological storage formations show that 94.8% of the point emission sources (accounting for 97.1% of annual total emissions) can find at least one candidate geological storage formation in its adjacent areas. This means that, for Chongqing, the CO2 transport cost is likely very low. The research findings indicate that there is great potential for CO2 geological storage technology to deploy in Chongqing and for this technology to deliver profound and sustaining impacts on reducing CO2 emissions and developing low-carbon economy in Chongqing. This preliminary study is expected to stimulate more researches, critical thinking and policy actions to promote positive measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions so as to mitigate the impact of global climate change, as well as to set a good example for other regions in China. Abstract: This paper makes a research on “dragon scale felsenmeer” in Wansheng District in Chongqing by analyzing geological structure of limestone area in which “Crackle” has formed in South China through referring large amounts of data, and combing with the analysis of Ordovician sedimentary environment and diagenetic conditions. Based on the analysis, this study has made an initial judgment that “dragon scale felsenmeer” is controlled by sedimentary pattern in regional structure dynamic and sedimentary environment, and the pressure in diagenetic conditions. Abstract: Low carbon economy has become a worldwide trend, many countries are seeking low carbon means to achieve environmentallyfriendly economy growth. However, various Greenhouse gases species in different industries, as well as various detection technology development levels in different countries lead to different carbon emissions accounting results eventually. So the accurate micro-level accounting on carbon dioxide emission is difficult to achieve while in the mean time, it is the basis for subsequent scenario analysis, which plays a crucial role in carbon pricing and carbon credits market promotion. That''s why the regional carbon dioxide emission accounting is a hot issue in low-carbon economy. Nowadays, automotive manufacturing industry has become a big fuel consumer in China and an important source of air pollution. So an accounting method focused on carbon dioxide emission in Chinese automotive industry is essential and practical significant. This paper proposed a whole-life cycle carbon emissions methodology to account carbon dioxide emission in Chinese automotive manufacturing industry, which is based on GREET and MOBILE model.
