The pressure drop in a helical-coil heat exchanger is studied. The helically coiled tube with a coil pitch of 1080 mm and coil diameter of 950 mm is fabricated by bending a stainless steel tube of 8m length and 15.6 mm inner diameter. The total height of the helix tube is 2.8 m. The concerned range of mass flow rate for two-phase flow is 25-100 kg/m2s. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation analysis of pressure drop in the vertical helical-coil heat exchanger is carried out.

Cutting temperature is a key factor in impacting the solid carbide end mill’s life, the rule of solid carbide end mill temperature field is the research focus. In this paper, the solid carbide end mill helical side edge is regarded as a helical coil heat source, the tool chip friction surface is considered as a surface heat source which consists of countless helical coil heat source. Based on heat source method, the model of continuous dynamic temperature field simulation of a solid carbide end mills cutting process is established.

According to the problem of low energy utilization of plane spiral coil used in micro-ICP, a kind of micro stereo helical coil was designed. Made 24 different structural parameters of stereo spiral coil whose diameter range 3~10 mm. Using comprehensive experimental method tested different parameters’ coils inspire argon plasma. In 13.56MHz RF power, relationships between argon pressure, coil turns, coil diameter and combustion /maintaining power of micro-ICP excitation source were tested. From spectrometer observed 17 argon emission spectrum in 690~860 nm. Spectral lines intensity influenced by RF power and work pressure. Experiments proved that micro-ICP excitation source using stereo helical coil is feasible. It can form Ar plasma and inspire Ar spectral lines.

Evaporation of refrigerant-oil mixture was studied in a smooth and micro-fin tube without / with four different inserts (twined coil, wire coil, twisted tape, and helical-coil). The refrigerant was R-600a and the oil was the EMKARATE RL 32H with a viscosity 150 SUS. The test was conducted at a saturation temperature of 15 , vapor qualities from 0.1 to 0.49, inlet oil concentration from 0 to 5 mass% oil, mass flux of 200 – 500 and heat flux of 10.24 . The enhancement factor (EFs) is larger for the lower oil concentration (at l %), while the ratios for the higher oi1 concentration (at 5%) are generally smaller than l and decreased rapidly as the oil concentration increased. In addition, new correlations to estimate the evaporation heat transfer coefficients for the R-600a mixed with the lubricating oil in micro-fin tube containing different inserts have been developed.

A method is presented based on geometric-curvature characteristics in which a scanning path planning for laser bending of a straight tube into a curve tube in a two- and three-dimensional space. In a two-dimensional (plane) bending, the steel tube is divided into several segments according to the extreme point and inflection point of the desired shape of the tube, taking the extreme point as the initial place of the path planning, using different scanning space for every segment in order to identify the scanning paths. For a tube bending in a three-dimensional space, a projection decomposition method is used, where the three-dimensional is decomposed into two two-dimensions, and respective scanning path planning and process parameters are thus acquired. By combining the data in the two-dimensional planes, the three-dimensional scanning path plan was obtained. Finally, an experimental verification is carried out to bend straight tubes into a two-dimensional sinusoidal and a three-dimensional helical coil-shaped tube. The results show that the proposed method of scanning path planning is effective and feasible.
