- Abstract
The aim of this work was to develop and test a methodology to generate design schedules in a dynamic and stochastic cellular manufacturing environment. The analysis is done for a newly established company with an increasing trend in demand. The goal is to choose design schedules that can handle expected and unexpected fluctuations in demand with minimal cost. The methodology chooses the best design schedule based on actions required to handle fluctuations in demand. The influential factors for generating and picking design schedules are observed. These factors include product demand, additional action costs, and machine costs. Using these costs, the correct coverage level to design for can be chosen. The correct coverage level and design schedule can be chosen by applying the methodology presented in this thesis.
