The objective of this work was to evaluate rates and methods of potassium application for plant cane (Saccharum spp.) grown in a dystrophic Typic Haplustox with a sandy loam texture in the Brazilian Cerrado. The experiment was carried out in the municipality of Aporé, in the state of Goiás, using the RB92579 sugarcane variety. The experimental design was randomized complete blocks, with three replicates, in a 5x3 factorial arrangement, with five potassium rates (0, 60, 110, 160, and 200 kg ha-1 K2O as potassium chloride) and three application methods (100% at the bottom of the planting furrow and covered with soil, 100% side-dressed on the sugarcane rows 60 days after planting, and 50% in the planting furrow and 50% side-dressed). The amount of potassium in the stalks in the control treatment was greater than that of the potassium stock extractable by Mehlich-1 in the 0-60 cm soil layer. Stalk and sugar yields increase linearly with potassium rates, approximately 20% with 200 kg ha-1 K2O compared with the control treatment (without potassium). Potassium content in stalks also increases with potassium rates. There is no significant effect of the potassium application methods on stalk and sugar yields and on cane quality variables.

Sugarcane is the most promising among renewable biofuel-producing crops. An adequate availability of water and nutrients, especially nitrogen (N), is of utmost importance. From the hypothesis that the source and the rate of N fertilization influence the N use efficiency of an irrigated soil&ndash, sugarcane system, this study aimed to evaluate the stalk and crop residues (pointer and leaves) yield, as well as the N utilization, from different rates of ammonium nitrate and urea by irrigated sugarcane in the cane plant cycle, using an 15N isotopic dilution technique. The soil used for the experiment was an Oxisol (Rhodic Haplustox) Cerrado (savannah) phase. The experiment was carried out at a farm of the Ra&iacute, zen Mill, which was located in the municipality of Jata&iacute, Goias State, Brazil. The sugarcane variety IACSP95&ndash, 5000 was used in a randomized block design, with three replicates, four N rates (30, 60, 120, and 180 kg ha&minus, 1), and two fertilizer sources labeled with 15N isotopes (urea and ammonium nitrate). The average value for N utilization was 60.17% for the ammonium nitrate source and 44.95% for urea. The responses in the percentage and quantity of N in the sugarcane from the fertilizer increase with the increasing N rate. The soil was the main N source for sugarcane. The higher stalk and pointer yield was recorded at the average rate of 143.61 kg N ha&minus, 1. Further studies are needed to evaluate the residual effect of N in the next cycles.

No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2020-01-01 Increases in production and final quality of the sugarcane crop require the search for new management and evaluation techniques within the production system, which can range from water and nutritional management, such as the application of water saving irrigation associated with sources (conventional and alternative) and phosphorus doses combined with the use of a sophisticated mathematical method, such as multivariate analysis. It can explain the variations caused by the application of irrigation and the sources and doses of phosphorus throughout the crop cycle. Due to the complex relationships and interactions of the soil-water-plant-atmosphere system, the use of multivariate analysis is able to indicate the best management options to be used. The experiment was carried out in a dystrophic Red Yellow Latosol, medium texture. The experiment consisted of randomized blocks and three replications in a 3 × 4 × 2 factorial design comprising three sources of phosphorus (triple superphosphate, Bayóvar natural reactive phosphate, and Araxá natural phosphate) and different doses (0, 90, 180, and 360 kg of P2O5 ha−1) in the presence and absence of filter cake (7.5 Mg ha−1, dry basis). Irrigation with rescue equipment was applied in a single blade of 80 mm. Biometrics, nutritional status, and agroindustrial performance of sugarcane were evaluated. The principal component analysis evidenced that the phosphate fertilization associated with filter cake is responsible for increases in sugarcane biometrics, specially tillers at 6 months (0.589) and final tillering (0.577); nutritional status of iron (0.349), manganese (0.348), boron (0.347), sulfur (0.332), and phosphorus (0.331); and agroindustrial performance of sucrose (0.476), stalk yield (0.470), and total recoverable sugar (0.439). The water saving irrigation potentiated the use of phosphate fertilizer associated with filter cake, increasing the nutritional status of the plants. However, the correlation was irrelevant and or negative for levels of potassium and calcium. In addition, it favored biometrics and agroindustrial performance by expressing a direct and positive correlation with stalk yield, sucrose, and total recoverable sugar, but an inverse correlation between final tillering and plant height, tons of pol per hectare, and total recoverable sugar. Nitrogen fertilization is essential to raise sugarcane yield in soils deficient in N. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of nitrogen application in production and borer attack on sugarcane. The experiment was conducted at Escobar District, State of Paraguarí, Paraguay. Three sugarcane growing seasons were evaluated during 2011-2013. The experimental design was randomized blocks with seven treatments and three repetitions, with annual application of increasing of nitrogen (0, 30, 60, 90, 120, 150 and 180 kg ha-1). At 360 days of each crop cycle, harvest was performed with the following assessments: industrial plant height, number of internodes per plant, infestation intensity index and yield. The nitrogen rate of maximum technical efficiency and maximum economic efficiency was determined. Statistical analysis of variance, means comparison and regression were performed. Nitrogen fertilization did not affect plant height and number of internodes, but increased yield and borer attack. For every kg ha-1 of nitrogen applied 0.25 t ha-1 of yield is added, and 0.27 % of infestation intensity index increase is obtained. The rate of maximum technical efficiency was 157,4 kg N ha-1 for a yield of 73,6 t ha-1, and the rate of maximum economic efficiency was 136.5 kg N ha-1 for a yield of 88,2 t ha-1.

Remineralization consists in add milled rock into the soils, as a soil conditioner, providing some minerals and elements. Besides the low cost, the consequences of their application are not totally elucidated. Therefore, the hypothesis of this study include the basalt rock dust treatment can improve the sugarcane yield, soil and plant chemical attributes; basalt rock dust increases the microbial index of soil quality; the rock application change microbial communities in the soil; and the rock weathering change the soil mineralogy. The aim of this study was evaluate the effects basalt rock dust application on sugarcane crops its consequences in soil mineralogy and microbiology. Despite not consistent to the four areas, basalt rock dust treatment can improve the sugarcane yield, soil chemical attributes, and microbial index of soil quality but a little is noticed in plant chemical attributes. The microbial diversity was not the same to the four areas, but it can be more related to geographical patterns than rock application, even with a little shift occurring, it cannot be attributed to the treatment. Weathering signals were noticed but there are two questionable points: the time to occur this weathering, may be quicker than it was thought, and the amount of weathered minerals. Basalt rock dust application improves sugarcane yield, it was notable its mineralogical changes in the soil and it does not cause damages to the soil microbial diversity. The microbial activity and footprints of soil microbiology in these conditions could elucidate the reason why occurred the yield improvement.

O Brasil é o maior produtor mundial de cana-de-açúcar e, devido à crescente demanda por fontes renováveis de energia, a área cultivada encontra-se em expansão. Regularmente, a cultura é plantada em solos com baixos teores de nutrientes, o que pode limitar sua produtividade. A adubação potássica da cana-de-açúcar é feita basicamente no sulco de plantio, o que pode comprometer a eficiência de utilização desse nutriente devido a possíveis perdas por lixiviação ou salinidade às raízes das plantas. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar produtividade de colmos e atributos tecnológicos da cana-de-açúcar em função de doses e modos de aplicação de K. O experimento foi conduzido em um Latossolo Vermelho distrófico durante o ciclo de cana-planta, com o cultivar SP90 3414, em esquema fatorial 2 x 4, sendo dois modos de aplicação (100 % no plantio e 50 % no plantio + 50 % em cobertura) e quatro doses de K (0, 100, 150 e 200 kg ha-1 de K2O), com quatro repetições. Aos nove meses após o plantio, foram avaliados a altura das plantas e o perfilhamento e, na colheita, a produtividade de colmos e os atributos tecnológicos da cana-de-açúcar. Sugar cane is usually planted in soil with low nutrient levels, which can limit the yield. In sugar cane, potassium is basically applied in the furrow, which can decrease the K use efficiency due to leaching or salinizaton to plant roots. The goal of this study was to evaluate stalk yield and technological properties of sugar cane as related to K application rates and methods. The experiment was carried out in an Oxissol during a plant cane cycle of variety SP90 3414, in a 2 x 4 split-plot design, with two K application methods (a - 100 % in the planting and b - 50 % in the planting and 50 % side-dressed after six months) and four K rates (control, 100, 150 and 200 kg ha-1 K2O), with four replications. Nine months after planting, plant height and shoot number were evaluated and, in the harvest, stalk yield and technological properties were obtained. The K rates increased sugarcane growth and shoot number in both application methods; the stalks and sugar yield increased with potassium rates, reaching a peak at a dose of around 160 kg ha-1 K2O; the estimated maximum yield (160 t ha-1) was obtained with 130 kg ha-1 of K2O in split application (in the furrow and side-dressed after six months) and with 150 kg ha-1 of K2O when the fertilizer was applied in the furrow only.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a adequação das estatísticas acurácia seletiva e valor do teste F para genótipo como medidas do grau de precisão experimental, e determinar o número de medições (repetições) necessário à predição do desempenho de genótipos de cana-de-açúcar (Saccharum officinarum). Foram utilizados dados de produtividade de colmos, de três colheitas realizadas em 68 ensaios de competição de genótipos de cana-de-açúcar. Em todos os ensaios, os genótipos foram avaliados no delineamento de blocos ao acaso, com três repetições e número de genótipos entre 16 e 28. Foram realizadas análises de correlação e de trilha e calculada a frequência de ensaios em cada classe de precisão experimental. Foram estimados os coeficientes de repetibilidade e calculado o número de repetições necessárias para predizer o valor real dos genótipos. As estatísticas acurácia seletiva e valor do teste F para genótipo são adequadas para avaliar a precisão experimental, em ensaios de competição de genótipos de cana-de-açúcar. Ensaios com três repetições identificam genótipos superiores de cana-de-açúcar, com 80% de exatidão no prognóstico de seu valor real. The objective of this work was to evaluate the appropriateness of the statistics selective accuracy and F-test value for genotype as measurements of the experimental precision degree, and to determine the number of measurements (replicates) necessary to predict the performance of sugarcane genotypes (Saccharum officinarum). Data on stalk yield from three harvests in 68 genotype competition trials of sugarcane were used. In all trials, the experimental design was a randomized complete block, with three replicates and number of genotypes between 16 and 28. Correlation and path analyses were performed and the frequency of trials was calculated in each experimental precision class. Repeatability coefficients were estimated and the number of needed replicates was calculated to predict true genotypic values. The statistics selective accuracy and F-test value for genotype are appropriate to evaluate the experimental precision of sugarcane genotype competition trials. Trials with three replicates identify superior sugarcane genotypes, with 80% accuracy of the true prognostic value.

According to the results, 4 hybrids out of 6 have shown 15.73- 83.00 % heterosis in seed yield, 4 hybrids 10.90-70.25 % heterosis in oil content, 3 hybrids 5.48-8.86 % heterosis in plant height, 4 hybrids 4.08-30.67 % heterosis in head diameter, 4 hybrids 2.55- 15.90 % heterosis in 1000 seed weight, 5 hybrids 12.23-21.87 % heterosis in steam rate (in Bolvadin), 3 hybrids 4.00-14.06 % heterosis in coat rate, 5 hybrids 5.57-15.03 % heterosis in oil percentage. On the other hand, 3 hybrids out of six showed 3.89- 7.92 % negative heterosis in coat rate. The seed yields of two hybrids are in the same group with that of the check variety, V. 8931. These hybrids are early maturing, short and resistant to Broomrape. The first experiment which was arranged randomized block design with four replications and the second with three replications. The aim of this re search was to determinate of depression of selfing in inbred lines of V. 8931 and Ekiz 1, and also selection in various characters like as; resistant to broomrape, hull percentage, and oil percentage, in 5.th generation selfed sunflower lines. These had been selected inbred lines which will be use to obtain synthetic Variety and hybrid seeds. Depression of selfing in inbred lines of Ekiz 1 and V. 8931 were found in this experiment. In the seed yield, thousand seed weight, plant height and non fertilization in head, depression of selfing of V. 8931 in-VII bred lines were between 20.32-21.29 %, 13.09-18.51 %, 13.16-18.70 %, 31.21 %, respectively. In the seed yield and thousand seed weight, depression of selfing of Ekiz 1 inbred lines was between 19.42-21.12 %, and 16.20 % in or der. In inbred line of Ekiz 1/1, Peredovik/1 and Peredovik/3 broomrape wasn't found. Frequency was found between 1-10 % in inbred lines of V.8931/1, V.8931/2, V.8931/3, V.8931/4, Ekiz 1/3, V.1646/2, V.1646/3, V.1646/4 and Peredovik/4.
