Recent theory conceptualizes emotion regulation as occurring across three stages: (a) identifying the need to regulate, (b) selecting a strategy, and (c) implementing that strategy to modify emotions. Yet, measurement of emotion regulation has not kept pace with these theoretical advances. In particular, widely used global self-report questionnaires are often assumed to index people's typical strategy selection tendencies. However, it is unclear how well global self-reports capture individual differences in strategy selection and/or whether they may also index other emotion regulation stages. To address this issue, we examined how global self-report measures correspond with the three stages of emotion regulation as modeled using daily life data. We analyzed data from nine daily diary and experience sampling studies (total N = 1,097), in which participants provided daily and global self-reports of cognitive reappraisal, expressive suppression, and rumination. We found only weak-to-moderate correlations between global self-reports and average daily self-reports of each regulation strategy (indexing strategy selection). Global self-reports also correlated with individual differences in the degree to which (a) preceding affect experience predicted regulation strategies (representing the identification stage), and (b) regulation strategies predicted subsequent changes in affective experience (representing the implementation stage). Our findings suggest that global self-report measures of reappraisal, suppression, and rumination may not strongly and uniquely correlate with individual differences in daily selection of these strategies. Moreover, global self-report measures may also index individual differences in the perceived need to regulate, and the affective consequences of regulation in daily life. Araştırma, COVID-19 salgın günlerinde İstanbul’da yaşayan üniversite eğitimli çalışanlara odaklanmasıyla, giderek artan İstanbul Çalışmaları yazınına katkı sunmaktadır., This study examines the walking practice, which provides re-engagement with the city during the curfews in the COVID-19 pandemic. Restricting the use of vehicles or city users’ voluntarily avoidance of public transportation to reduce the transmission risk refers to Istanbul’s quite limited transportation opportunities during the pandemic. After discussing the historical/philosophical dimensions of being on foot as an urban experience, the study focuses on how walking in the neoliberal city built on fast/uninterrupted mobility is remembered “thanks to” the pandemic. In the research, “university graduate employees” were reached through purposeful/snowball sampling. Forty-six individuals who participated voluntarily reside in Istanbul’s twenty-three districts from centre and periphery. In the study, beyond the socio-demographic findings on the change in public transport usage, various themes were reached in the participants’ perceptions, evaluations, and experiences according to the qualitative analysis findings. The themes discussed regarding “walking” within the scope of urban history/sociology and social/environmental psychology are as follows: the desired performance, the performance achieved as positive affect, a way of coping with pandemic days and taming the city, as a socialization method, and a political act. The research contributes to the “Istanbul Studies”, focusing on university graduate employees living in Istanbul during the pandemic days.

This study reflects on the ways in which children, during pandemic times, expressed themselves and came into contact with their teachers and classmates through Image-Letters, ways of saying and saying themselves to the world through audiovisual media. Sensible sharing of their daily lives were revealed by these media and made us think about the diverse childhood of this time. The theoretical framework that supported this work had the contribution of De Certeau regarding studies on everyday life, Walter Benjamin with his writings on childhood experience, Sandra Corazza and Walter Kohan with their contributions to studies on contemporary childhoods and Virgínia Kastrup who supported us on to the cartography method, a methodological approach that allowed us to follow the research process. The objective of this work was to observe the ways in which children communicate through verbal-visual media and what type of content and everyday fragments they choose to share their experiences during the pandemic period.with the school institution. It is important to highlight that the dissemination of the images was authorized by the children and their guardians through a free and informed consent term, in compliance with the ethical principles of research with images of children. Furthermore, the images are available through QRcode and can be accessed through a smartphone camera. Background Ambulatory monitoring is gaining popularity in mental and somatic health care to capture an individual's wellbeing or treatment course in daily-life. Experience sampling method collects subjective time-series data of patients' experiences, behavior, and context. At the same time, digital devices allow for less intrusive collection of more objective time-series data with higher sampling frequencies and for prolonged sampling periods. We refer to these data as parallel data. Combining these two data types holds the promise to revolutionize health care. However, existing ambulatory monitoring guidelines are too specific to each data type, and lack overall directions on how to effectively combine them. Methods Literature and expert opinions were integrated to formulate relevant guiding principles. Results Experience sampling and parallel data must be approached as one holistic time series right from the start, at the study design stage. The fluctuation pattern and volatility of the different variables of interest must be well understood to ensure that these data are compatible. Data have to be collected and operationalized in a manner that the minimal common denominator is able to answer the research question with regard to temporal and disease severity resolution. Furthermore, recommendations are provided for device selection, data management, and analysis. Open science practices are also highlighted throughout. Finally, we provide a practical checklist with the delineated considerations and an open-source example demonstrating how to apply it. Conclusions The provided considerations aim to structure and support researchers as they undertake the new challenges presented by this exciting multidisciplinary research field.

Conservatism is currently a significant political ideology that determines the political sphere in Turkey. As known, conservative ideology is represented in the center-right parties in the country. However, the conservative Islamic ideology, which became visible as a political actor in the 1970s, was brought to power first at the local level and then at the national scale in the 1990s. Today, it can be argued that this is why Islamist conservatism leads central politics. This political alteration has also been reflected in the culture and daily life of society. After all, Islamist conservatism becomes visible in daily life with transformations that we can refer to as modern popular and consumer culture. Principally conservative women play a notable role in building this synthesis in everyday life. With these concerns, the article tries to find out how the contents of these specific experiences take place, particularly through interviews with upper-middle-class women, with particular deep interviews that were conducted in a neighborhood the upper-middle-classes lived in Istanbul. Then the data obtained from these interviews were divided into themes and analyzed the connections formed by upper-middle-class women with new forms of life in Turkey, and their contents are tried to be learned.

This study aims to evaluate the feasibility and explore the efficacy of the Arm Activity Tracker (AAT). The AAT is a device based on wrist-worn accelerometers that provides visual and tactile feedback to stimulate daily life upper extremity (UE) activity in stroke patients. Methods: A randomised, crossover within-subject study was conducted in sub-acute stroke patients admitted to a rehabilitation centre. Feasibility encompassed (1) adherence: the dropout rate and the number of participants with insufficient AAT data collection; (2) acceptance: the technology acceptance model (range: 7–112) and (3) usability: the system usability scale (range: 0–100). A two-way ANOVA was used to estimate the difference between the baseline, intervention and control conditions for (1) paretic UE activity and (2) UE activity ratio. Results: Seventeen stroke patients were included. A 29% dropout rate was observed, and two participants had insufficient data collection. Participants who adhered to the study reported good acceptance (median (IQR): 94 (77–111)) and usability (median (IQR): 77.5 (75–78.5)-). We found small to medium effect sizes favouring the intervention condition for paretic UE activity (η2G = 0.07, p = 0.04) and ratio (η2G = 0.11, p = 0.22). Conclusion: Participants who adhered to the study showed good acceptance and usability of the AAT and increased paretic UE activity. Dropouts should be further evaluated, and a sufficiently powered trial should be performed to analyse efficacy.

This article proposes an innovative direction for Christian social practice by reclaiming and revitalizing the diaconate of all believers. While the ministry of the laity received attention in ecumenical circles in past decades, the diaconate of all believers now needs elaboration and reception. A focus on the diaconate of all believers can provide a vital theological and practical paradigm for expanding Christian social practice. In this paradigm, diaconia engages the world through the involvements of Christian people in all their roles and relationships in life, including family, work, civic engagement, and church. Christian communities need to undertake focused education and intentional formation of the diaconate of all believers through their worship and educational practices. The liturgy provides substance for this formation process. Reclaiming the diaconate of all believers as a primary expression of the church’s diaconal practice means reorienting the ministry of deacons, pastors, and bishops in relation to the universal diaconate. The recovery of the diaconate of all believers has significance for a revised ecclesiology and theology of ministry that places ministry in daily life at the forefront of Christian social practice.

ABSTRACT Given the current conditions of complexity, we consider it fundamental to question how to understand what is being implemented under the idea of the "new normal" in the formulation of daily life which implies its establishment. We recognize that this daily life has been expropriated from its actors through the most invasive and homogenizing technological operation that has operated globally until today, condensed in the conceptual character known as the "algorithm". The thesis of this essay argues that daily life in the so-called new normal is globally mediated by algorithm management and, in its effects, constitutes the establishment of a totalitarian and altericidal project of planetary character. In this sense, the purpose of this writing was to reflect on how this altericidal project underlies the establishment of a life channeled by "the algorithm" and its pretension of rationality. It is concluded that the current algorithmic governance and its digitalization consolidate the deprivation of human agency, which sets the urgency of looking for effective ways to intervene in this regard.

Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder that affects millions of people worldwide. Its slow and heterogeneous progression over time makes timely diagnosis challenging. Wrist-worn digital devices, particularly smartwatches, are currently the most popular tools in the PD research field due to their convenience for long-term daily life monitoring. While wrist-worn sensing devices have garnered significant interest, their value for daily practice is still unclear. In this narrative review, we survey demographic, clinical and technological information from 39 articles across four public databases. Wrist-worn technology mainly monitors motor symptoms and sleep disorders of patients in daily life. We find that accelerometers are the most commonly used sensors to measure the movement of people living with PD. There are few studies on monitoring the disease progression compared to symptom classification. We conclude that wrist-worn sensing technology might be useful to assist in the management of PD through an automatic assessment based on patient-provided daily living information.

Social withdrawal is often presented as overall negative, with a focus on loneliness and peer exclusion. However, social withdrawal is also a part of normative adolescent development, which indicates that groups of adolescents potentially experience social withdrawal differently from one another. This study investigated whether different groups of adolescents experienced social withdrawal in daily life as positive versus negative, using experience sampling data from a large-scale study on mental health in general population adolescents aged 11 to 20 (n = 1913, MAge = 13.8, SDAge = 1.9, 63% female) from the Flemish region in Belgium. Two social withdrawal clusters were identified using model-based cluster analysis: one cluster characterized by high levels of positive affect and one cluster characterized by high levels of negative affect, loneliness and exclusion. Logistic regression showed that boys had 66% decreased odds of belonging to the negative cluster. These results show that daily-life social withdrawal experiences are heterogeneous in adolescence, which strengthens the view that, both in research and clinical practice, social withdrawal should not be seen as necessarily maladaptive. ispartof: JOURNAL OF YOUTH AND ADOLESCENCE vol:51 issue:5 pages:915-926 ispartof: location:United States status: published

We aimed to identify activity limitations and participation restrictions encountered by children and youth with disabilities for which assistive products and technology could be helpful. We used a convergent, parallel, mixed-methods design involving a nationwide, French survey composed of closed questions (quantitative) and open questions (qualitative) that enlightened the quantitative data. A total of 1055 responses were received, and 962 included: 92 from children and youth with disabilities, 493 from relatives and 377 from professionals. Difficulties frequently checked and described in detail were participation in recreational activities, leaving the house and traveling, participating in a group, and getting ready. Transversal explanations for difficulties were spontaneously provided (e.g., lack of accessibility and mobility). Solutions proposed included personal assistive devices to facilitate home life, high-tech devices, devices to compensate for impaired body functions, and adaptation of the familiar environment and daily activities. Few public solutions were proposed. The necessity of human assistance was emphasized. The mixed-methods design and involvement of different stakeholders identified common, macroscopic trends in difficulties encountered and desired solutions. Products and technology are required in the following domains: the familiar environment, accessibility and mobility, sports and leisure, high-technology, and family support. We provide suggestions to facilitate the development of innovative solutions.

Traditionally, narcissistic characteristics are believed to be relatively stable, while clinical accounts and recent research show that narcissistic states are variable and fluctuating in actuality. Narcissism research tends to focus on cross-sectional, group-based, trait approaches. Momentary ecological assessments (EMA) allow one to discover individuals’ true colours by observing narcissistic experiences while they unfold in real-time and real-world settings. Within momentary ecological assessments, inspecting single cases enables insight into individual dynamics and presentations. Therefore, this project will look closely at individual cases collected through EMA and describe their grandiose and vulnerable narcissistic experiences.

Background Children’s time use is a complex developmental phenomenon in need of a more in-depth, detailed understanding. Objective The present study aimed to provide a comprehensive description of children’s everyday lives in middle childhood and examine how different portfolios and patterns of daily activities occurring at home, school, and community are influenced by multilevel ecological factors. Method Based on cross-sectional, multi-informant data from a sample of Portuguese 3rd and 4th graders (n = 209), this research expands previous literature by providing a mixture of variable- and person-centered analytical approaches to children’s time use. Results Findings indicate that children’s everyday lives are characterized by a diversity of participation portfolios which embody multidimensional, heterogeneous, and qualitatively distinct participation patterns. A total of five different time use clusters were found: “less-active studious”, “highly-engaged players”, “less-involved after-schoolers”, “highly-active homebodies”, and “sedentary home screeners”. Both portfolios and patterns of activities significantly varied as a function of child characteristics, parental education, family functioning and culture, and the environment quality of activity settings. Conclusions Variations in ecological affordances and constraints may represent different levels of exposure to developmental opportunities. An ecological developmental perspective of children’s time use is necessary and useful to enlighten how families, schools, and communities can positively influence children’s lives and effectively support their well-being and growth.

Ancak aile hala en dayanıklı kurum olarak varlığını sürdürmektedir., The aim of this thesis is to try to understand social change processes in Turkey by using the daily life of the family, which is described as the central "building block" of society, as a starting point. Although the family, which is the most slowly changing basic institution accepted in every society, is seen as the most stable social institution, it is not a completely fixed and unchanging structure. Although change in the family has aspects that can be explained by general social change theories, every family, even every individual, experiences this process differently under their own subjective conditions. In this thesis, in order to understand the change and transformation of the family in their daily life, men and women from three generations and different socio-economic statuses, totalling 77 participants, were given in-depth interviews, and answered 102 questions on family, marriage, migration, settlement, education, business life, family economy and consumption habits, religion perception, state, and gender. After determining the question posed by this study in the first part of this thesis, the question’s purpose, importance and limitations are determined. The theoretical and conceptual framework of this study is formed in line with the basic concepts in the second part of the thesis. In the third chapter, information about the model of the research, the sample group, the method used for qualitative data collection, basic information about the participants and the analysis of the data are given. The fourth part of the thesis presents the findings of the study together with the relevant statements and evaluations of the participants. Although the data obtained due to the nature of the qualitative research cannot be generalized, the conclusion section presents important clues about the daily life of the family today. With the effect of factors such as industrialisation, migration, urbanisation, media, internet, technology, state, politics and religion; there have been significant changes in power relations in the family, the place of the child in the family, education, ways to earn a living, family economy and consumption habits, settlement and spatial relations, and inter-generational relations. However, despite these changes and shifts the family still exists as society’s most durable institution.

Self-regulation of cognition and behavior is an important ability in the daily life of humans (Robson et al., 2020). Individuals with higher self-regulation show higher vocational success, indicate more positive health behavior, and have more positive social relationships (McClelland et al., 2013; Sciberras et al., 2009). When a person shows a pronounced deficiency of self-regulation, the diagnosis of Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) might be appropriate (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). While earlier theory used a categorical system to classify people with and without ADHD into different groups, currently the dimensional view which arranges people on a scale from very high to very low self-regulation receives more scientific evidence (Coghill & Sonuga-Barke, 2012; Frazier et al., 2007). This individual ability in self-regulation might be measured with dimensional questionnaires like the Strengths and Weaknesses of ADHD and Normal Behavior (SWAN) Scales (Blume et al., 2020). The SWAN scales have been applied in versions of self- and observer report for children and adults in numerous languages and shown good validity and reliability. Additionally, the SWAN scales can be divided into two subscales, measuring the core symptoms of ADHD, inattention and hyperactivity/impulsivity. For some time now, research has shown that self-regulation does not only differ between people but also fluctuates within individuals over time (Leonard et al., 2021; Schmid et al., 2020). The expression of these core symptoms might be associated with different precursors and antecedents in the daily life of individuals (Buhr et al., 2022).The new golden standard to depict these fluctuations is the measurement technique ambulatory assessment, where scales are repeatedly presented to individuals in their daily life on technical devices like smartphones or tablets (Koch et al., 2021). While ambulatory assessment allows for many innovative research questions to be explored, it requires valid and reliable scales which capture variance between as well as within individuals (Trull & Ebner-Priemer, 2019). Dimensional scales might be a helpful tool to capture these variances on both, the negative as well as the positive end of the continuum. Since in psychological theory the constructs self-regulation and self-control are often used interchangeably (Carver & Scheier, 2011), a valid measure of self-regulation should be significantly associated with widely applied scales of self-regulation both on the trait as well as on the state level. In the current study, we are applying the SWAN scales in ambulatory assessment to explore their psychometric quality, convergent validity with self-control scales, and reliability in measuring between- and within-person differences of self-regulation in the daily life of adults.

In this study, we examine how emotional characteristics are related to emotion regulation (ER) strategy use in daily life, separately for positive and negative emotions, using intensive longitudinal data from a 60-day ESM study. For negative emotions, we examine two emotional characteristics, namely emotional intensity and emotional control. For ER strategies use, we examine six ER strategies, namely distraction, rumination, suppression, relaxation, expression, and reappraisal. For positive emotions, we examine emotional intensity as emotional characteristic (emotional control for positive emotions was not assessed). For ER strategy use, we examine two ER strategies, namely expression and savoring. Relationships will be assessed at the within-person level, considering both linear and quadratic relationships.

The present paper aims to improve current understanding of psychological resilience by exploring the predictors, daily correlates, and outcomes of resilience to daily hassles in patients with MDD. First, we will investigate the association of resilience with personal (depression severity; tendency to ruminate; self-management, confidence and purpose) and social (social support, connectedness, and a caring community) resources. Next, we will examine bidirectional associations between resilience and well-being on a day-to-day basis, using three operationalization of well-being (high Positive Affect; low Negative Affect; overall mood rating at the end of the day). Finally, we will examine the association between daily resilience and future mental health (depression severity, symptom distress, and general functioning).

The pandemic and the quarantine conditions created a confined space where people comply with everyday home routines. This space reiterated the reproductive labour designated mostly as the responsibility of women by the social gender order. As the social reproduction in women's everyday life has become more salient during the pandemic, this widened the gap between the different forms of masculinities and femininities of social hierarchy both in society and art scenery. Drawing on the work of Virgina Woolf, Rozsika Parker and Iris Marion Young, this article looks at the ways in which social reproduction and intellectual production of women is entangled at home. The article approaches the domestic labour from a twofold perspective: the physical burden it creates, and the mental & emotional burden associated with taking responsibility. It attempts to explain the historical reasons for the physical burden expected from women and their responsibility for the unpaid reproductive labour, but at the same time fleshes out the mental & emotional burden it creates on women. Upon presenting the complexities with these terms, the paper questions how the creative activity of women aligns with their everyday responsibility and to what extent it creates intellectual spaces for the emergence of women as public intellectuals and artists. With reference to writings of Parker and Iris, the study takes up a feminist theorisation and quest to problematise art and looks at the production of feminist art through a triad of home, everyday life and care work. In doing so, it brings these concepts with the debates of hegemonic masculinity operating in the art environment and creating a femininity and masculinity divide in the ways women artists produce or the extent to which they are valued as professionals whose value is assessed in relation to male artists. This surely creates a high and low art divide where the former is attached to men's domain of production. The article points out the importance of combining creative production which is placed high and the necessities of daily life which are placed low in a hierarchical manner by discussing how the production of the female artist can be made in the defined conditions. In doing this, the article discusses the everyday labour at home to draw attention to social gender inequality where intellectual production is represented as a masculinity norm. Thus, it challenges the definition of the genius-male artist presented as the ideal model of art production, arguing how it becomes a product of hegemonic masculinity in the art landscape. The paper offers a critique of this art space creating a gender hierarchy, producing the dynamics of masculinities and the processes creating social embodiment of the art production. The fact that women feel obliged to adopt the masculinity and femininity division of intellectual production and social reproduction is discussed through the angel at home conceptualisation of Virginia Woolf. This conceptualisation gives us a unique perspective to focus on the art production at home and analyse the limits of art production. Taking KRE as an example of Turkish feminist collective who use home as the new emerging space for intellectual art production and space for resistance to patriarchal norms in art, the paper highlights changing contemporary art canon, dynamics and forms of production.

Objective: The study aims to compare swimmers’ daily sport life changes caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in the pre-restriction restriction periods. Material and methods: Two hundred fifty-one competitive swimmers participated in this study (117 females), aged 12-33 years, who had at least 3-year sport experience. Data were collected via a Google Forms survey. Statistically, before using a parametric test, the assumption of normality was verified using the Shapiro-Wilk test. A paired t-test was performed for one variable. Variables were presented as frequencies and percentages, according to feedbacks received. The Chi-square test was used to compare variables. Resultsː There were no significant differences related to the changes caused by COVID-19 between genders (p>0.05). Statistically significant increase in training frequency, decrease in swimming training sessions, increase in dry-land training sessions, and changes of daily training time periods occurred during restriction compared with the pre-restriction period. Conclusionsː Findings of this study reveal that the swimmers' athletic lives were negatively affected during the restriction period due to COVID-19.

ABSTRACT The present article, which is theoretical, bibliographical as well as phonographic-documental in nature, aims to reflect on how daily life influenced Jackson do Pandeiro’s compositions and interpretations. Moments of Jackson do Pandeiro’s trajectory and excerpts of songs were selected to expose the importance of daily life for his work. The article shows that Jackson do Pandeiro’s works establish a dialectic relationship with the society that raised him, enabling listeners to access a critical potency. This potentiality grants them a new set of lenses to interpret daily life, which, in turn, is the cradle of artists’ inspiration. This set of factors led the musical sphere as well as some of the Brazilian intellectual elite to consider Jackson do Pandeiro the King of Rhythm in the Música Popular Brasileira, MPB [Brazilian Folk Music].

The article deals with the information about the parents' committee in Biysk Nikolayevskaya Women's Gymnasium in the early 20th century. Parents' committees were an important part of gymnasium life, but little attention is paid to their studying. Minutes of the meetings of the parents' committee of the Biysk Women's Gymnasium have been preserved, which contain information about the thinking of the students' parents at that time. In addition, details of the daily life of the students were mentioned in the discussions. The modernization in the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries, which consisted in the transition from feudalism to capitalism, had a strong impact on the mentality of Russian society. It was also reflected in the life of educational institutions. Modernist features appeared in society, but at the same time many traditional ones remained. The gap between the generations was widening. Parents' committees were an important forum for the students' parents to speak out. In this regard, their meetings were used to discuss pressing issues of concern to Russian society. The study of daily life and thinking of pre-revolutionary gymnasiums may have practical value in our time.,

Abstract This article explores the ways of dwelling the western urban periphery of the city of La Plata (Argentina) during the pandemic. We propose to go through a series of daily processes synthesized in the spatial practices of entering, staying and leaving of people from different social sectors that inhabit this area of expansion characterized by the diversity of land uses and a multiplicity of heterogeneous and unequal residential types. We argue that the characteristics of the western periphery as a place modulate the experience during the pandemic, giving rise to reconfigurations in living from isolation and distancing that mark specific processes, different from those of the city, and that in turn they imply arrangements in each social group. The overarching goal of this dissertation was to investigate parenting processes in relation to affective well-being in families in the daily flow of life from different perspectives (i.e., adolescent, mother, father), on different levels (i.e., objective, momentary, and daily), and in a clinical sample (families with an adolescent with a depression) in addition to community samples. Our findings underline the importance of daily parental warmth and criticism of mothers and fathers for adolescents’ well-being. In addition, we showed that adolescents, parents, and their perceptions of parenting influence each other and that becoming more attuned to each other’s intention and needs is essential. Importantly, we consistently demonstrated that not only the extent and direction of the dynamic processes between parenting and affect in daily life differs between, but also within persons and families. This stresses the need for research focusing on individual processes and combining quantitative with qualitative measures. The use of more idiographic approaches would not only enable gaining more insight into these differences between individuals, but also contribute to identifying parenting practices that work for almost all adolescents. This would facilitate the development of interventions combining universal parenting principles with suggestions for tailoring it to individual- or family-specific situations.

Abstract: This article is part of a study carried out between 2018 and 2021, designed to analyze the dynamics of the commercialization of religious and spiritual products in the city of Santiago de Chile. The study focuses on the daily experiences and needs of the believers and users who frequent this space. In contrast to those interpretations that emphasize the calculated search for spiritual benefit as the main driver of decision-making in open religious economies, this study analyzes the day-to-day dynamics and motivations that lead individuals to engage in transactions of goods and services in accordance with their practical needs. It also sheds light on their fears, disappointments and hopes, as well as their ability to reconnect with the sacred. To this end, a qualitative design was used, based on ethnographies, in-depth interviews and observations in stores selling religious, spiritual, magical, and esoteric items, as well as on the streets and passages in the city’s historic center where a variety of services (divination, healing, protection) are offered. The results support the existence of flexible individuals who construct their belief systems in relation to the challenges and needs they face in their daily lives, beyond the theological and dogmatic restrictions defined by institutions. They also account for the constitution of associative networks built by suppliers and consumers, which amplifies the impact of new or novel religious/spiritual experiences through multiple interactions with hybrid belief systems. Adverse childhood experiences create vulnerability to psychosis through biological and cognitive changes, and that may be observed as an increased emotional and psychotic response to daily life experiences in adulthood. This study aims to examine the effects of childhood maltreatment on psychotic patients\" daily stress and emotional and psychotic intensity related to various experiences throughout the day. Daily activities and events, and emotional and psychotic intensity of forty-one psychotic patients were assessed with the Experience Sam-pling Method. The Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ) was used to evaluate childhood adversities. Multi-level regression analyses showed that all trauma subtypes, except for sexual abuse, were associated with increased psychosis and event-stress. Emotional maltreatment was the most associated trauma type with high negative and low positive affect and increased daily stress. Patients reported the highest stress and negative affect related to internal experiences but the lowest stress related to recreational actions. Social activities were also associated with higher positive affect and lower stress and psychosis, with the high CTQ group having greater stress in those activities. Our study demonstrates the negative impact of childhood trauma, especially emotional maltreatment, on daily stress and emotional and psychotic intensity in psychotic patients via different daily experiences.

Abstract The proposal of showcasing the learning processes through the daily practices of Reinado Mineiro is to expand an understanding of the numerous ways of learning. From this perspective, being involved in the daily practices leads us to describe and seek to understand how to become a Reinadeiro, especially through the musicality of Reinado’s children and youth. In the Quilombo da Irmandade do Rosário of Justinópolis/MG we find aesthetics designed in the dances, songs, and costumes that diversify in the various existing practices, such as the sacred drums of Candombe, the Irmandade do Rosário, the Caravana de Santos Reis, the Pastorinhas, the Capoeira Angola, the Arraial Pé de Cana, and the most recent Coral Vozes de Campanhã. In this territory, learning is present in the social life activities that are directly related to the acquisition of skills, to its relationships, contexts, and daily life which are shown in/with the day-to-day world, the territory where knowledge is built, felt and perceived. For these reflections we dialogue with Jean Lave’s “Social Theory of Practice” (1996), which claims a relational approach and whose fundamental principle is not to separate people from their daily lives, reaffirming that learning is inseparable from daily life and people’s lives.

ABSTRACT: The authors shall present the medieval European-like town of Val'Quirico (Mexico). It is a rural space where elements of gated communities, shopping malls and touristic spots coexist. Within this framework, we shall describe the emergence and development of Val'Quirico as a fragmented space, deliberately decollectivized and intended for the exploitation of daily socio-spatial resources. This study has been carried out between 2016 and 2019 using social science research methodologies. As a conclusion, we reflect on the direction being taken by the dynamics of capitalistic accumulation under a neoliberal format, thus showing a progressive weakening of any form of citizenlifestyles and the strengthening of forms associated with ephemeral consumption. In this sense, VQ seems to be an advantageous exponent of a socio-spatial pattern that, in a new way, would focus on controlling and intervening in the most basic daily practices (living, moving, socializing) with an extraordinary level of intensification.

Adolescents can perceive parenting quite differently than parents themselves and these discrepancies may relate to adolescent well-being. The current study aimed to explore how adolescents and parents perceive daily parental warmth and criticism and whether these perceptions and discrepancies relate to adolescents’ daily positive and negative affect. The sample consisted of 80 adolescents (Mage = 15.9; 63.8% girls) and 151 parents (Mage = 49.4; 52.3% women) who completed four ecological momentary assessments per day for 14 consecutive days. In addition to adolescents’ perception, not parents’ perception by itself, but the extent to which this perception differed or overlapped with adolescents’ perception was related to adolescent affect. These findings highlight the importance of including combined adolescents’ and parents’ perspectives when studying dynamic parenting processes.

COVID-19 lockdown measures have profoundly impacted adolescent' daily life, with research suggesting an increase in irritability, stress, loneliness, and family conflict. A potential protective factor is parent-child relationship quality; however, no studies have investigated this. We used data from SIGMA, a longitudinal, experience sampling cohort study, in which N = 173 adolescents aged 11 to 20 were tested before and during COVID-19. Multilevel analyses showed decreased daily-life irritability and increased loneliness from pre- to mid-pandemic. Daily-life stress levels were unchanged. Relationship quality was negatively associated with irritability and loneliness and buffered against the increase in loneliness. Effect sizes were small and do not support a strong effect of the first lockdown on irritability, stress, loneliness, and family conflict in adolescents. ispartof: Journal Of Research On Adolescence vol:31 issue:3 pages:623-644 ispartof: location:United States status: published

Background Due to the high infectivity and seriousness of coronavirus disease, people’s daily activities were restricted in countries worldwide; governments implemented lockdown measures and advised individuals to perform self-restraint in terms of leaving the house. However, there have been few scientific reports on the effects of such behavioral restrictions on walking parameters. Research question Did behavioral restrictions during the state of emergency in Japan effect walking parameters in daily life outdoor walking? Methods In this retrospective cohort study, four walking parameters, namely, the average number of steps taken, walking speed, step length, and cadence, were measured using a smartphone application among 3901 participants (mean age ± standard deviation: 60.3 ± 28.9 years) from March 2 to June 15 in both 2019 and 2020. The departement of Puy-de-Dôme was one of the theaters of hosting political refugees during the nineteenth century. Newly confronted with these foreigners, French authorities are gradually developing laws to supervise these populations while trying to delineate the contours of the refugee. Administering exile is not just about monitoring, counting and tightly controlling these populations. It is also about managing the day-to-day lives of refugees to the rhythm of arrivals, displacements and amnesties. The local scale allows to observe the reception strategies put in place by comparing national points of view and local issues. It also highlights the active role of refugees who are fully involved in their own management. They adapt quickly to the workings of French administration, act as intermediaries or they seek to emancipate themselves from the norms imposed on them.

Strict eating routines and frequent rigid behavior patterns are commonly observed in patients with anorexia nervosa (AN). A recent theory proposes that while these behaviors may have been reinforced initially, they later become habitual. To date, however, research has been overly focused on eating-disorder (ED)-related habits. Over the course of seven days, we applied an ecological momentary assessment (EMA) to investigate the habit frequency and strength of ED-specific (food intake) and ED-unspecific (hygiene) habits in the daily lives of a sample of n = 57 AN and n = 57 healthy controls (HC). The results of the hierarchical models revealed that habits were significantly more likely in patients compared with HC for both categories, independently. Furthermore, a lower body mass index (BMI) was associated with increased habit frequency in AN. Our study strengthens the habit theory of AN by showing the relevance of habits beyond ED-specific behavioral domains. This also supports the development of innovative therapeutic interventions targeting habitual behavior in EDs.
