Purpose– The aim of this study is to list the effective factors in improving sustainable supply chain management performance and to determine the most appropriate alternative activity.Design/methodology/approach – The data used in the study were obtained through face-to-face interviews with business managers working in construction industry and a literature review. With the ANP method, which is one of the multi-criteria decision making methods, the factors affecting supply chain management were prioritized and alternatives were evaluated. Fifteen sub-criteria and five alternatives were identified.Findings – Proposal of decision support model is presented for a sustainable supply chain management with ANP . The result of the study shows the main driving powers for achieving sustainable supply chains for both environmental, economic and social are environmental quality management, strategic management, sharing information, technology efficiency and voice of customers.Originality – With the increasing negative effects of industrialization, global and multinational companies are giving more importance to sustainable supply chain management. Companies must develop viable and integrated supply chain management to maintain customer satisfaction and develop an efficient operational and financial result. Members in supply chain management need to be in constant interaction. Otherwise, various problems such as customer dissatisfaction, distribution costs, and excess stock are encountered. Problems can be solved with effective supply chain management. With this study, it is hoped that sustainable supply chain management, whose importance is increasing day by day, will contribute to the sector and the literature with the construction sector application., ÖzetAmaç– Bu çalışmanın amacı, sürdürülebilir tedarik zinciri yönetimi performansını iyileştirmede etkili faktörleri listelemek ve en uygun alternatif faaliyeti belirlemektir.Yöntem– Çalışmada kullanılan veriler inşaat sektöründe çalışan işletme yöneticileri ile yüz yüze görüşmeler ve literatür taraması yoluyla elde edilmiştir. Çok kriterli karar verme yöntemlerinden biri olan ANP yöntemi ile tedarik zinciri yönetimini etkileyen faktörlere öncelik verilmiş ve alternatifler değerlendirilmiştir. On beş alt kriter ve beş alternatif belirlendi.Bulgular – ANP ile sürdürülebilir bir tedarik zinciri yönetimi için karar destek modeli önerisi sunulmuştur. Çalışmanın sonucu, çevresel, ekonomik ve sosyal açıdan sürdürülebilir tedarik zincirlerine ulaşmak için ana itici güçlerin çevresel kalite yönetimi, stratejik yönetim, bilgi paylaşımı, teknoloji verimliliği ve müşterilerin sesi olduğunu göstermektedir.Özgünlük– Sanayileşmenin artan olumsuz etkileriyle birlikte küresel ve çok uluslu şirketler sürdürülebilir tedarik zinciri yönetimine daha fazla önem vermektedir. Şirketler, müşteri memnuniyetini sürdürmek ve verimli bir operasyonel ve finansal sonuç geliştirmek için uygulanabilir ve entegre tedarik zinciri yönetimi geliştirmelidir. Tedarik zinciri yönetimindeki üyelerin sürekli etkileşim içinde olması gerekir. Aksi takdirde müşteri memnuniyetsizliği, dağıtım maliyetleri, stok fazlası gibi çeşitli sorunlarla karşılaşılmaktadır. Sorunlar etkin tedarik zinciri yönetimi ile çözülebilir. Bu çalışma ile, kısıtlı alandaki sürdürülebilir tedarik zinciri yönetiminin inşaat sektörü uygulaması ile sektöre ve yazına katkı sağlaması umulmaktadır.

As a contemporary product of Internet of Things, wearable devices that are closely related to consumer health have received widespread attention from various nations and industries. Thus, the use of wearable devices has become a significant scientific problem requiring an urgent solution. In this article, we consider the characteristics of wearable devices, consumers, the market, safety, and the environment to analyze consumer behavior. A multiple attribute decision-making (MADM) model is used in this article, including the decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) technique, the DEMATEL-based analytic network process (DANP) method, and the modified Vlse Kriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje (VIKOR) method. Based on expert data and the index system of criteria for consumer adoption of wearable devices, we evaluate the relationship between criteria and their weight of impact to create an influential network relationship map by using the DEMATEL technique, comprehensively analyze the correlation between consumer behaviors and products, clearly identify the relative gaps between criteria and the optimal level, and recommend improvements through the DANP. Finally, we use three specific products as examples to analyze consumer satisfaction for different criteria based on the modified VIKOR method. The results reveal that there are gaps between product performance and the optimal level, and product promotion strategies are proposed that would narrow the performance gaps of these three wearable devices by prioritizing the factors that required improvement.

Agricultural sustainability is crucial for ensuring food security, promoting economic development, maintaining ecological balance, and achieving sustainable development goals. In this study, based on relevant theories of agricultural sustainability, an analytical framework is constructed for agricultural sustainability encompassing economic, resource, environmental, and social dimensions. The Analytic Network Process (ANP) method is employed to determine indicator weights and assess the spatiotemporal changes in agricultural sustainability levels across Chinese provinces. The findings reveal that environmental quality is the primary dimension for assessing agricultural sustainability, and the significance of the rural social development dimension is continuously increasing. Although the sustainability levels have significantly improved in various regions of China, there remain issues of development imbalance and instability. In conclusion, this paper offers a comprehensive understanding of the spatiotemporal changes in agricultural sustainability across Chinese provinces, providing valuable insights for policymakers and researchers.

To reinforce competitiveness, companies must focus on competitive priorities including cost, quality, delivery, and flexibility. The competitiveness also depends on the adherence to environmental requirements and the ability of companies to survive unforeseen disruptions. Lean, agile, resilient, and green (LARG) paradigm is a hybrid supply chain paradigm, which can enhance competitiveness in today's complex markets. In this article, we propose a new conceptual decision-making model to evaluate LARG supply chain performance in medical equipment companies. In this regard, supply chain operations reference model attributes were utilized as performance evaluation criteria. Furthermore, the appropriate practices of LARG supply chain are selected through fuzzy Delphi method. Also, an extension of decision making trial and evaluation laboratory-based analytic network process method is proposed to uncover network relationships and obtain the weights for dimensions and elements. According to the results, the agile paradigm, responsiveness, and quick introduction of new products are determined as the most prioritized elements in their corresponding dimensions, which emphasize the importance of the customer satisfaction. Finally, the extended hesitant fuzzy linguistic VIKOR (Vlsekriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje) is applied to rank LARG performance of Iranian needles and syringes companies via qualitative group decision-making process. The results of this study are conformed to conventional selection results of needles and syringes suppliers conducted by Iran's Ministry of Health.

This study proposes a novel approach to forecast a transhipment port's competitiveness on the basis of market share. The potential reasons for escalating or diminishing competitiveness are explored by utilising a multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) methodology. We assess the competitiveness of transhipment ports by seven major components: connectivity, port facility, efficiency, cost factor, policy and management, information systems and green port management, and contribute to the understanding of the interdependence among the components. We investigate the Bangladesh container market due to the uniqueness of its regional context and dimensions of competitiveness. Bangladesh has direct connections to four regional hubs, namely, Singapore, Colombo, Port Klang and Tanjung Pelepas. These regional hubs compete to grasp a significant volume of container movements in line with the rapid growth of Bangladesh's industrialisation and national economy. We find that Singapore outperforms others in terms of competitiveness, but all ports perform below expectations in green port management practices. These findings would benefit port authorities for improving their competitiveness, and liner shipping companies and shippers in making strategic port choice decisions.

Sustainability reporting is an important tool for decreasing information asymmetry, according to the stakeholders' demands for transparency. On the other hand, increasing transparency allows investors to have more appropriate evaluations of firms' activities and direct their investments to companies with more enthusiasm. In the organizational context, information asymmetry creates conflict between owners and managers. Managers tend to reduce the gap between themselves and stakeholders, particularly shareholders, by producing and delivering reports. Companies use sustainability reports to connect with their society and environment, as well as a way to manage interactions with various stakeholders for societal approval and activity continuation. The primary purpose of this study is to provide a model for measuring the quality of sustainability reporting and the determinants. In terms of methodology, the current study is qualitative, deductive, cross-sectional, applied, and exploratory. The criteria were identified and extracted, then evaluated and prioritized using Multi-Criteria Decision-Making approaches including Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process and Fuzzy Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory Analytic Network Process-based. The FAHP test revealed that of the six indicators, the GRI's reporting guidelines for sustainability Checklist were placed highest. Internal Controls Reporting, Sustainability Innovation Performance, and Earnings Quality rated first to third, respectively, among the 25 criteria affecting the quality of sustainability reporting, according to the FDANP.

Objectives Primary healthcare will not be effective unless there is a proper referral system. In contrast, comparing the performance of healthcare systems provides an opportunity for policy makers to determine the status of the country’s healthcare system compared with their international counterparts. Therefore, we ranked the countries in terms of indicators affected by the referral system. Methods This study was conducted in 2020. In the first phase, which was to determine the indicators affected by a country’s referral system, data were collected by the Delphi method, and therefore, 13 indicators with a content validity ratio equal to or greater than 0.42 were selected. In the second phase, the data of 13 indicators selected in the first phase were extracted from the 2018 and 2019 World Health Organization reports. The weight of the indicators was calculated based on the Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory method–based Analytic Network Process (DANP) and Shannon’s entropy, and the VIekriterijumsko KOmpromisno Rangiranje (VIKOR) method was used to rank the countries. SPSS 24 and Excel 2013 software were used for data analysis. Results Switzerland, Germany, and Sweden ranked first, second, and third, respectively. In all the 3 countries, there are no mandatory gatekeeping systems. Physicians, especially general practitioners, are the core of primary healthcare, and in all the 3 countries, there is a uniform and coherent health financing system that is either based on mandatory health insurance (Switzerland and Germany) or taxes (Sweden). India had the lowest ranking. Conclusions It seems that the study of the health system of the countries that have obtained higher rankings can indicate their efforts in establishing a gatekeeping system, family physician program, and appropriate financing system. Therefore, other countries can study successful countries and copy them as a model to improve their health system.

This work utilizes an expert-based framework for the hybrid of in-depth interviews, Fuzzy Delphi Method (FDM), Analytic Network Process (ANP), Weighted Linear Combination (WLC) to evaluate cultural tourism strategies for Fucheng Historical District in Tainan City, Taiwan. A set of indicators were proposed through in-depth interviews with experts. Then, FDM was employed to select criteria, sub-criteria. The weight-based computation through ANP demonstrated that historical and cultural value is highly prioritized in criteria, whereas cultural assets and preservation of historical buildings are significant sub-criteria. In addition, we find that “cultural and creative clusters” is a prioritized strategy that should be adopted in historic-route-based cultural tourism. Finally, WLC indicated that Route VI is the most suitable route to organize “cultural and creative clusters”. In order to call for the sustainable implementation of tourism development, the proposed modelling approach is an effective tool that provides a comprehensive understanding to develop tourism strategies.

Off-site construction (OSC) is an innovative construction method that transfers most of the site-based work to a more controlled environment. Construction waste minimization, speedy schedules, higher sustainability, and better quality are some of the perceived benefits of OSC. Therefore, significant research attention has been given to OSC. However, minimal research attention has been given to procurement management in OSC, which could impact its pace of adoption. Existing studies on the procurement methods of OSC projects have overlooked several criteria related to OSC that impact the selection of the appropriate procurement methods (i.e., design-build, construction management, etc.). In addition, the literature lacks decision-making tools to assist OSC practitioners in selecting the appropriate procurement method. In this regard, this study contributes to the body of knowledge by (1) identifying the criteria that impact the selection of OSC procurement methods; (2) developing a multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) model to select the appropriate OSC procurement methods. The developed MCDM model uses a hybrid approach of analytic network process (ANP) and evidential reasoning (ER). The ANP, which considers the interdependencies among the collected OSC procurement criteria, is used to calculate the relative importance weights through questionnaire surveys. The ER method evaluates various OSC procurement methods in accordance with the criteria importance weights. The results indicate that project quality, cost control, and funding arrangement are the prominent selection factors. On the other hand, the model reveals that the integrated project delivery (IPD) and construction management (CM) methods have the highest utility scores. The MCDM model has been validated by comparing the results with similar studies. The present study could assist OSC practitioners in selecting the appropriate procurement method for OSC projects.

A methodology was developed to prioritize stakeholders of a collaborative research and innovation (R&I) project in the circular bioeconomy area, towards enhancing its benefits from a multi-perspective point of view. The concept of R&I project benefits was broken down into criteria, evaluating different attributes related to the project outputs and outcomes, to the project management processes, and to the social, environmental and economic dimensions. The devised methodology was based on a combination of the analytic network process multicriteria decision making method and the key benefit categories from the P5 standard for sustainability in project management. The P5 standard has been shown to adequately frame the benefits to stakeholders of R&I projects in the topic of circular bioeconomy. Key benefits identified by the experts relate to the categories “society and costumers” and “consumption”. The following stakeholders should have priority in the development of the project stakeholder management plan: research team members, leaders at the consortium organizations, project management team members and environmental NGOs. Future research will include a longitudinal study of the perceived stakeholder and benefit categories priority over time. For meeting CO2 emission targets in the mobility sector, decarbonization efforts of referring applications are necessary. Fuel cell electric vehicles powered by hydrogen demonstrate a viable option to achieve those targets, especially taking the targets of heavy-duty applications into consideration. Higher ranges, short fueling durations and locally emission-free transport represent advantages offered by fuel cells in comparison to internal combustion engines or battery-electric powertrains. However, production costs of fuel cells are still a drawback. Latest analyses show that the utilization of scale effects even in early technology adaption phases can heavily decrease production costs. As the cell structure of fuel cells and electrolyzers show many similarities, the assumption of production synergies is made. Taking advantage of referring synergies, increased production volumes and thus decreased production cost are assumed for fuel cells. This paper introduces a methodology to identify synergies between fuel cell and electrolyzer production. The methodology is used to evaluate a company's production process portfolio on the example of the three alternative coating processes, based on an initial evaluation of the processes and the use of the Analytic Network Process. The application of the methodology results in synergy coefficients for production processes, using the examples of slot die, gravure and spray coating. The coefficients are transferred into an overall benefit of a production process portfolio. Finally, the effect of the considered synergies between fuel cell and electrolyzer production on the overall benefit of a company's production process portfolio is visualized. This paper is concluded with a critical review of the methodology and a summary of further research.

A method based on Analytic Network Process and Social Network Analysis (ANP-SNA) was proposed in this paper to determine and better clarify the governance relationship among various stakeholders involved. Firstly, fourteen stakeholders of construction waste recycling were identified using the snowball sampling method, and the governance relationships of these stakeholders were summarized into four aspects with eight indicators. Secondly, the weights of the stakeholder governance relationship indicators were determined based on Analytic Network Process (ANP). Thirdly, the Social Network Analysis (SNA) method was used to model the governance relationship network of the stakeholders, and the governance relationships among different stakeholders in the network were described by quantitative analysis of network cohesion, network centrality, structural holes, and other indicators. Finally, key points for optimizing the governance relationships among stakeholders of construction waste recycling were proposed in this paper, so as to provide a new solution for the collaborative governance of stakeholders.

The underutilisation or overutilisation of various interdependent and interacting factors poses a challenge to sustainable development and requires the development of an appropriate methodology to evaluate the sustainability of tourism development projects in rural Land (TDPRL). However, most previous evaluations of TDPRL sustainability are macro-oriented and ignore the entire project life cycle. This study focuses on the resilience characteristics of TDPRL and proposes a “sustainable resilience model” based on physical-mechanical theory, which analyses various factors influencing TDPRL resilience based on the three dimensions of tractive force, driving force, and internal dynamic, and constructs a qualitative evaluation index system through stakeholder meetings. Then the analytic network process (ANP) is used to assess the resilience of TDPRL quantitatively. The rationality of the evaluation index system is validated through an empirical analysis of three rural tourism projects in Zhengzhou, Henan Province. We found that the resilience of TDPRL depends first on the project fundamentals, which include population, industry, location, and infrastructure. Second, local elites are crucial to rural tourism revitalization. Third, the project team should have sufficient capacity to provide tourists with satisfactory products and services, ensuring the project’s sustainable operation, and meeting the core demands of stakeholders. This study provides a novel tool for the decision-making and improvement of rural tourist project development and land use planning over the project life cycle.

Sukuk Negara is one of the sharia-based financing instruments issued by the government to meet the budget deficit. This study aims to identify priority issues in the development of Sukuk Negara to enhance the role of Sukuk Negara in supporting government infrastructure financing. From the results of data management using the Analytic Network Process (ANP) method, it is known that several priority problems include the issuance of Sukuk Negara financing limited to central government projects, the lack of quality and quantity of Islamic finance human resources compared to conventional finance, and the low interest in public investment in Islamic financial instruments. The priority of the solution is the need to make regulations that allow Sukuk Negara to finance PPP project financing schemes, increase innovation and quality of sukuk products so that they are able to achieve the set targets, and foster public investment interest. Thus, the strategy in supporting the government's infrastructure development is to increase the proportion of SBSN issuance, increase socialization and communication to the public, and diversify underlying assets.

PurposeTo strengthen the correlation analysis on risk factors of drug production safety and reduce the influence due to fuzzy judgments, a safety risk assessment method based on Grey-Analytic Network Process (G-ANP) is proposed.Design/methodology/approachFirst, an index system evaluating drug production safety risk is constructed according to the “Good Manufacture Practice of Medical Products,” next the influence weight of each risk index is derived by using the Analytic Network Process, then the grey number of each risk index is determined by further utilizing the grey statistical theory, and finally the risk level of drug production is obtained.FindingsAn empirical study is conducted and the results support the feasibility and practicability to use G-ANP method for drug production safety risk evaluation. The results of the case show that it is feasible and practical to use G-ANP method for drug production safety risk evaluation.Originality/valueThe innovation lies in the use of G-ANP method to fully consider the interdependence and interaction between the risk factors of drug production safety, which improves the objectivity in judging the risk level of drug production and provides a scientific basis for pharmaceutical manufacturers to formulate further decisions and management in the case of insufficient quantification of risk factors. Based on the findings, more targeted suggestions are made to reduce the production risk of pharmaceutical enterprises.

Driven by the development of global Energy Internet and the requirement of energy transition, the sharing economy mode in energy sector has turned into a novel inspiration. This paper aims to explore whether the sharing economy model advance China’s energy transition effectively. We describe the system of Energy with Uber-like mode, and introduce the Uber-like Mode into the PV power sector. By using the Analytic Network Process method, a set of comprehensive benefit evaluation system for the Uber-like mode plus renewables project is put forward from aspects of the technical and economic benefit, the social and environmental benefit, the energy benefit and the safety (reliability) benefit. The Uber-like mode plus PV project, as one specific application, is chosen as a case study to verify the effectiveness of the evaluation model. Based on the evaluation results, SWOT is adopted to discuss the internal conditions and the external environment for Renewables Sharing Economy in China. Finally, this article puts forward a series of suggestions to realize the goal of the proper adjustment of energy structure with respect to the renewables’ sharing economy mode.

China has embarked on a new round of power market reforms since 2015. Traditional power generation groups (TPGGs), as important practitioners of the electricity market, have taken various actions to adapt to the new market environment during recent years. Trading performance, the most manifestation of enterprise operation is evaluated in this paper, to help TPGGs explore transition strategies to improve business and achieve a sustainable development. Considering multiple factors influencing TPGG trading performance, a hybrid framework based on Multiple-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) under fuzzy rules is proposed. Meanwhile, to deal with the ambiguous language in the evaluation process, the fuzzy Delphi method is combined with triangular fuzzy numbers (TFNs). Thus, twelve key indicators are selected, and the integrated evaluation index system is established. Then, a novel method combining Analytic Network Process (ANP) and Matter-Element Extension Cloud model (MEECM) is applied to evaluate the performance, which cover both fuzziness and randomness of the problem. In addition, an optimized cloud entropy algorithm considering the “3En” and “50% relevance” is implemented in MEECM. At further, through empirical analysis of five power generation companies in China, the proposed evaluation framework is verified. The results show that company A is the best, and more attention should be paid to the criteria related to market and support technology research (Z1), as well as trading capability and behavior (Z2). Finally, a series of sensitivity analyses have been conducted to examine the validity and effectiveness of the established evaluation framework and results. Meanwhile, some suggestions are put forward to improve trading performance for TPGGs. The study improves traditional cloud model and MCDM techniques. Therefore, it can help TPGGs track their course of actions during market reforms, and then take steps to enhance their management capabilities. On the other hand, it provides an effective means for market management agencies to evaluate market conditions through physical performance, to achieve a sustainable development of the power industry.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to prioritize and establish relationships among the barriers that affect green, lean and Six Sigma (GLSS) implementation in the Indian construction sector. Design/methodology/approach A hierarchal model consisting of several levels is generated by the interpretive structural modelling (ISM) methodology. For establishing the priority weights and the ranking of the barriers, the relationships among barriers from the model in ISM are used to provide an output from the analytic network process (ANP). The 12 vital barriers that affect implementation of GLSS adoption were shortlisted from literature and then finalized in consultation with experts belonging from both industry and academia. Findings Based on the ISM model “Lack of awareness for green products, Lack of top management commitment and involvement as well as Lack of funds along with an improper estimation” are at the highest level. Similar results were found while ranking the barriers through ISM–ANP integration. Originality/value This study identified and prioritized the barriers that affect GLSS implementation using ISM–ANP approach, such a study has not been attempted previously for the construction sector. The ISM model and ANP ranks are based on the inputs gathered from experts and academicians so as to ensure practical validity. This approach is assists decision-makers to focus on the key barriers priority basis and enables them to implement GLSS smoothly.

One of the serious supply chain management (SCM) challenges is the effective selection of suppliers and the right allocation of orders to achieve an SCM's suitable financial and technical status. This paper introduced a multi-objective linear programming model to prioritize and weigh suppliers using the modified best–worst method (BWM). The proposed model uses evaluation criteria and used fuzzy variables to determine the right numbers of suppliers as well as order quantity of raw materials each supplier should provide. The model has been made up of four objective functions, and the required constraints have been solved using the goal programming method. The proposed model can take a set of opposing goals into account and prioritize the goals to maximize access to each goal. The uncertain concepts such as fuzzy and rough theories in some criteria enabled the proposed model to use the imprecise information in the best possible manner. This study has solved an example using the proposed model through analytic network process and BWM. Then, the obtained results were compared with our findings for adopting interval-valued fuzzy-rough numbers BWM (IVFRN-BWM) and it was shown that the modified BWM approach generates lower costs and better criteria.

Biometrics has been developing for decades in diverse industries, such as consumer electronics, internet of things, financial industry, etc. The purpose of this research is to build a decision-making model to evaluate and improve the performances of biometrics for administrators to design and make suitable biometric systems. This paper adopts a hybrid multiple criteria decision making (MCDM) model, comprising decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL), and DEMATEL-based analytic network process (called DANP) to probe into the interrelationship and influential weights among criteria of biometrics. According to DEMATEL technique, the empirical results indicate that criteria of biometrics have self-effect relationships. The dimension of biometrics that administrators of biometrics should enhance first when improving the performances is usability. The criterion of universality with the highest influencing value to systematically affect all other evaluation factors is what administrators of biometrics should comprehensively consider. In the top three criteria for evaluation by DANP, biometric systems with the most influential weight is the criterion that can be improved to have higher recognition rates for increasing the performances of biometrics, followed by biometric conditions and permanence.

The service capacity of urban public open spaces is an important indicator of the justness and soundness of the allocation of public space resources, such as parks and green spaces, in the process of urban development. Improving the service capacity of urban public open spaces is conductive to healthy, sustainable urban development. In this study, taking Shengyang City, China as a case study, a Gaussian-based two-step floating catchment area method (2SFCA) is used to calculate an accessibility index and identify residential areas with a poor accessibility to urban public open spaces. Then, a particle swarm algorithm (PSA) is used to optimize the locations of new open space developments. Finally, the optimization results are verified using the analytic network process (ANP). The results show that the service capacity of public open spaces in the center of Shenyang City (covering six districts) is relatively low and exhibits an uneven spatial distribution. In the service scope of the existing urban public open spaces, the accessibility for 48.6% of the residential estates is moderately poor or poor. The layout is optimized when the number of optimization points is set to 8. These points are mainly located in old town areas such as the Tiexi, Huanggu, and Dadong districts. The optimization increases the green space area accessible by motor vehicles (60 min), bicycles (60 min), and walking (30 min) by 4.67%, 5.38%, and 8.03% of the study area, respectively. Finally, green space planning recommendations are offered from two perspectives: spatial layout and transport system optimization.

The current research intends to design and develop the simulation-based multi-criteria optimization (MCO) of the indirect-expansion solar-assisted heat pump (IX-SAHP) used to supply sustainable warm water for buildings. The developed IX-SAHP is verified and its performance is studied in the temperate climate of Iran every month of the year. The parametric analysis (PA) is performed using one-variable-at-a-time (OVAT) approach to analyze the impacts of input variables of the IX-SAHP on the system performance. Furthermore, the single and multi-objective particle swarm optimizations (MOPSO) are integrated with the designed IX-SAHP to maximize the coefficient of performance (COP) and the solar collector efficiency (SCE), independently and concurrently to study the trade-off in the COP and SCE of the system, to achieve the optimal non-dominated solutions in the form of Prato front, and to define the optimal configuration and operating parameters of the system. Eventually, the final optimum configuration is chosen through the Analytic Network Process (ANP) multiple-criteria decision-making (MCDM) method integrated with the MOPSO algorithm using MatLab coupling functions. The comparison of achieved optimum solutions indicates that the MCO scheme provides better comprehensive performance, more appropriate and reliable solutions in comparison with the single-criterion optimization (SCO) schemes. The results of the MCO process indicate that whereas the SCE relatively lessens from 52% to 47%, the COP enhances considerably from 3 to 7 in comparison with the baseline design so that the total operating hour of the optimized IX-SAHP lessens close to 282 h throughout the year that leads to considerable lessening of the total power consumption of the system. This study demonstrates the importance of MCO, OVAT, and MCDMs in the design stages of energy systems to maximize the performance and minimize power consumption of the system.

Global energy shortages continue in the post-epidemic era. As clean primary energy, LNG plays an important role in the energy structure adjustment. However, with the widespread use of LNG, storage tank leaks occur frequently. In order to highlight the risk status of critical risk areas of LNG tank leakage, the “Five-high” risk system for the LNG industry, with high-risk locations, high-risk equipment, high-risk processes, high-risk personnel, and high-risk substances as first-level elements, was built. Combined with the Analytic Network Process (ANP) and normal cloud model for quantitative analysis, a safety risk analysis and assessment model for LNG storage tanks based on the ANP-normal cloud model was developed. Safety analysis was conducted with the example of an LNG storage tank area of a factory. The results show that the risk level for LNG tank leakage is level IV, with high-risk equipment being the first-level element with the highest weight and risk. The reliability of the comprehensive model was verified by AHP and fuzzy integrated analysis, and the results were basically consistent with the factory safety evaluation report. The study realizes the quantitative and visual analysis considering the correlation of risk elements and provides a new quantitative method for the safety analysis of LNG energy.

[EN] Since the Paris Agreement was established, great interest has arisen in evaluating the sustainability performance of our structures along with their life cycles. The remarkable economic expenses, the important environmental impacts associated with the construction sector, and the great social benefits that might be derived from a well-designed infrastructure system have put the design of essential infrastructures in the spotlight of many researchers. One of today¿s main challenges is the derivation of adequate sustainability indicators that aid designers when deciding on the most sustainable design alternative. The sustainability performance of infrastructures is based on various indicators that are often conflicting given their different nature. Consequently, the obtention of such indicators usually needs to be addressed using multi-criteria decision-making methods. The present communication shows the analytic hierarchy process (ANP) for the sustainability assessment of a concrete bridge exposed to a coastal environment, involving several decision-makers. A set of nine quantitative criteria, covering the economic, environmental, and social dimensions of sustainability, has been considered here., Grant PID2020-117056RB-I00 funded by MCIN/AEI/ 10.13039/501100011033 and by ERDF A way of making Europe.

With the complexity of the socio-technical system, the requirement for safety analysis is growing. In actuality, system risk is frequently created by the interaction of numerous nonlinear-related components. It is essential to use safety assessment methods to identify critical risk factors in the system and evaluate the safety level of the system. An integrated safety assessment framework combining the system theoretic process analysis (STPA), the analytic network process (ANP) and system dynamics (SD) is suggested to analyze the safety level of socio-technical systems to achieve qualitative and quantitative safety evaluation. Our study constructs an STPA and SD integration framework to demonstrate the practical potential of combining STPA and SD approaches in terms of risk factors and causality. The framework uses the STPA method to define the static safety control structure of the system and analyzes the primary risk factors. The unsafe control actions (UCAs) from the STPA method are transformed into network layer elements of ANP. The ANP method is used to calculate the element weights, which are the impact coefficients between the system dynamics (SD) variables. The SD method is used to assess the safety level of the system. Finally, a specific coal mining system is used to demonstrate how the proposed hybrid framework works. The results indicated that the safety level of the system was low on days 38 and 120 of the simulation cycle (one quarter). Our work can overcome the limitations of conventional STPA quantitative analysis and simplify SD qualitative modeling to serve as a reference for complicated system safety/risk analysis work.

Purpose This paper investigates the interview examination applied during the admission process of air traffic controller (ATCO) candidates. This paper aims to select the most appropriate candidates by minimizing any shortcomings of the process. Design/methodology/approach ATCOs have a very important role in the air traffic system. They are responsible for ensuring the safe, regular and rapid flow of aircraft traffic. They carry out this challenging task by monitoring the aircraft under their responsibility and by giving instructions to the pilots when necessary. So the selection of ATCO candidates is of critical importance. This process is usually conducted through multistage examinations. It is a critical issue to use correct methods in the selection process to identify the most suitable candidates. Besides, the application of subjective examination in a standard way and standardization of criteria can assist in selecting the right candidates. Within this context, the analytic network process (ANP) and the rating method are used. The weights of the selection criteria are calculated by the ANP, and the candidates are evaluated by the rating method according to the defined criteria. Findings 39 candidates were ranked using the ANP, and the rankings obtained by the ANP and the current system were compared. The ANP rankings were also compared with the results of a previous study conducted by analytic hierarchy process (AHP). The results indicate that using the ANP yields consistent results with those obtained from the AHP in terms of the rankings. Research limitations/implications ATCOs are one of the most important operators in air transport system. They undertake critical tasks where even a small error may cause serious consequences. Therefore, selecting the appropriate candidate is an important first step in training qualified staff. The authors believe that this study will contribute to the training of more qualified ATCOs. On the other hand, the approach about the use of ANP method on the interview examination and the standardization of the criteria can provide insight into improving interview process in different area. Originality/value To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first study that presents an ANP-based methodology for the selection process of ATCOs and the interview process.

The indivisibility principle of the 2030 Agenda is considered key for the implementation of policies in pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Therefore, science is not only asked to develop new methods for assessing SDG target interactions but also to translate findings of methodological insights into policy advice for easy take-up by policymakers. The present paper demonstrates how to adopt the multi-criteria analysis technique Analytic Network Process (ANP) for prioritizing SDG targets in considering all positive and possible indirect SDG target interactions at once. The application of the ANP is linked to a multi-method setting embracing positive scores derived from the analytical methods Nilsson-scale, a cross-impact matrix, and network analysis techniques. This supports the prioritization of SDG targets when considering n-order neighbours in a network with respect to their synergies. The ANP allows evaluating the synergistic potential and progress controllability of SDG target rankings calculated by CI-matrix metrics and thus provides conclusions on the importance of n-order interactions of SDG targets in a network for the final ranking. We showed that the application of a combination of different analytical methods improves the overall quality of the formulated policy advice regarding its scope and methodological profoundness. In this context, we compared the analytical methods involved with respect to their ability to formulate policy advice and finally presented a framing how to translate methodological results into concrete and applicable policy advice.

In the construction industry, social, environmental and economic concerns are increasing in recent years. Sustainability approach is gaining wide interest to solve these concerns. Sustainable supply chain management ensures environmentally and socially pleasant practices, and provides economic gains. We propose a sustainable supply chain management model for the construction industry in Turkey context, which considers all levels of construction process. The proposed model is based on the life cycle assessment of buildings and employs triple bottom line sustainability dimensions—environmental, social and economical. We utilize the analytic network process methodology to evaluate the sustainability level of construction sustainable supply chain management in Turkey by employing the principles of the green buildings performance rating system (LEED). The contribution that lies in this paper provides the importance of sustainable supply chain management elements in construction, reasons for insufficient sustainability and a framework to improve sustainability integration.

Purpose Resilient hospitals have the vital role in reducing mortality, severity of injuries by providing required emergency services during accidents and disasters. This study aims to identify and prioritize key indicators on hospital resilience. Design/methodology/approach This cross-sectional study was conducted in 2019. The draft of the indicators obtained from the systematic review of the previous study was finalized, with three expert panel sessions and 14 experts in resilience fields. The outputs of these sessions were divided into three domains including constructive resilience, infrastructural resilience and administrative resilience, 17 sub-domains and 71 indicators. Then fuzzy analytic network process method was used to weight and prioritize the final indicators of hospital disaster resilience. Findings Administrative resilience, logistic and financial management and strategic outsourcing agreement allocated the highest weight as domain, sub-domains and indicators, respectively. The weight of each sub-domain and indicator was also determined. Originality/value Investigating the weight of domains, sub-domains and indicators shows the importance of managerial and operational issues in hospital resilience. By using the indicators and relative weights, a tool for measuring hospital disaster resilience can be created in further studies. The output of these assessments is effective in promoting safety and increasing awareness of hospital managers and health policymakers.

Graphs are a great aid in interpreting multidimensional data. Two examples are employed to illustrate this point. In the first the many dissimilarities generated in the Analytic Network Process (ANP) are analysed using Individual Differences Scaling (INDSCAL). This is the first time such a procedure has been used in this context. In the second the single set of dissimilarities that arise from the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) are analysed using Multidimensional Scaling (MDS). The novel approach adopted here replaces a complex iterative procedure with a systematic approach that may be readily automated.

With the widespread use of computers, in the design world, rule-based design methods, which can work in harmony with computer logic and can be easily adapted to the computer environment, have come to the fore. It is possible to analyze the logic of a design made with the rule-based design method. It is even possible to change the design which is placed on the rule base by removing the rules, in the computer environment, or creating new designs with the same design logic. In this paper, a new hybrid model is proposed based on Interval Type-2 Fuzzy Analytic Network Process (IT2 FANP) and Interval Type-2 Fuzzy TOPSIS (IT2 Fuzzy TOPSIS) for the evaluation of store plan alternatives produced with rule-based design method. The IT2 FANP method is used to determine the weight of criteria determined by experts in the selection of store plan alternatives. Then, the IT2 Fuzzy TOPSIS method is used to obtain the ranking of alternatives with Interval Type-2 trapezoidal fuzzy numbers. The originality of the paper comes from the first-time usage of a hybrid approach based on IT2 FANP and IT2 Fuzzy TOPSIS methodology in the prioritizing of store plan alternatives produced with rule-based design method.

All multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) techniques used with discrete event simulation (DES) in previous literature in the analysis of healthcare systems assume that performance measures are independent, while in fact many are correlated. In this study, correlations between performance measures are taken into consideration using modified TOPSIS. A framework is developed in which DES is used to model multiple experiments and factor levels to estimate various performance measures. Design of experiments is used to study the effects of factors and their interactions. Experiments are input to modified TOPSIS as alternatives to be compared based on multiple correlated performance measures. A case study is presented at Educational Dentistry Clinics in Jordan. This study was designed to improve overall clinic performance. Results show that when using appropriate appointment scheduling rules and orthodontist working schedules, and exploiting the resources effectively, the best scenario obtained shows an effective decrease in orthodontic patient waiting times and length of stay (LOS), and primary diagnosis patients LOS by 29.44%, 37.74% and 7.12%, respectively. It also shows an increase in orthodontist and receptionist utilizations, and number of patients served by 11.22%, 65.82% and 69.39%, respectively. The results obtained from modified TOPSIS were more accurate as compared to traditional TOPSIS. As a future work, other appointment rules can be tested and other MCDM techniques that take criteria correlations into consideration can be used to rank the experiments such as the analytic network process.

In recent years, cloud computing is becoming an attractive research topic for its emerging issues and challenges. Not only in research but also the enterprises are rapidly adopting cloud computing because of its numerous profitable services. Cloud computing provides a variety of quality of services (QoSs) and allows its users to access these services in the form of infrastructure, platform and software on a subscription basis. However, due to its flexible nature and huge benefits, the demand for cloud computing is rising day by day. As a circumstance, many cloud service providers (CSPs) have been providing services in the cloud market. Therefore, it becomes significantly cumbersome for cloud users to select an appropriate CSP, especially considering various QoS criteria. This paper presents a hybrid multi-criteria decision-making (H-MCDM) algorithm to find a solution by considering different conflicting QoS criteria. The proposed algorithm takes advantage of two well-known MCDM algorithms, namely analytic network process (ANP) and VIseKriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje (VIKOR), to select the best CSP or alternative. Here, ANP is used to categorize the criteria into subnets and finds the local rank of the CSPs in each subnet, followed by VIKOR, to find the global rank of the CSPs. H-MCDM considers both beneficial and non-beneficial criteria and finds the CSP that holds the maximum and minimum values of these criteria, respectively. We demonstrate the performance of H-MCDM using a real-life test case (case study) and compare the results to show the efficacy. Finally, we perform a sensitivity analysis to show the robustness and stability of our algorithm.

On that basis, a decision support system was created using the Analytical Network Process method which can determine teacher performance improvement strategies, based on objective performance appraisals and make decisions that become more efficient.

This study aims to investigate and determine the key risks and main factors influencing China’s high-end medical equipment innovations using a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) matrix. Then, on the basis of findings and relevant literature concerning the development of China’s high-end medical equipment in recent years, especially during the COVID-19 period, we put forward strategies for the development of and innovations in high-end medical equipment for China, based on an analytic network process ANP–SWOT model.Methods: In this study, a comprehensive ANP–SWOT analysis model was selected to examine the current state of development of the high-end medical equipment innovation industry in China. First, a SWOT model was used to comprehensively analyze the internal and external factors influencing the development of the industry. Then, an ANP network structure was designed to accurately reflect the relationships among the influencing factors. Subsequently, weights for the influencing factors were determined according to the importance of the factors, and alternative choices for China’s strategy for high-end medical equipment innovation were presented.Results: The results revealed that the essential features of the best strategy for the innovation and development of China’s high-end medical equipment industry were as follows: first, speeding up the construction and improvement of a technological innovation system that is enterprise-dominated, market-oriented, and involves joint industry–university research; second, a greater focus on increasing the financial support for research and development and industrialization; and third, strong government support through taxes, medical insurance, promotion of talent, and appropriate land usage.Conclusion: Strong governmental support through taxes, medical insurance, promotion of talent, and land usage is required to ensure rapid development of the high-end medical equipment industry in China.Keywords: ANP–SWOT model, high-end medical equipment, innovation, risk, policies

Respondents who were involved in the study were a research analysis and business owner with a material store business unit. The sampling technique used in this research was purposive sampling method. This research was a descriptive study and requires a model and analysis tools that are able to accommodatethe research. The analytical tool used in this research was the Analytic Network Process (ANP) method. With ANP, the study analyzed the value per cluster, the value of all nodes and the synthesis value of the change management cluster. The results showed that change management has an impact on organizational performance. In change management, leadership performance is one of the six dimensions that provide the most important impact and get the highest value. The results of this research indicate that effective strategy is the right strategy for sustainable competitive performance. This strategy focuses on developing resource capital. The three elements with the lowest priority in this pride strategy model are reputation & quality control, technology & buyer fulfillment and sales of product content. By combining institutional capital and resource capital, a sustainable competitive advantage can be achieved by focusing performance on the subfactors of corporate image and leadership.

Construction projects are of a special nature affected by many factors, which makes them exposed to multiple risks that may lead to the abandonment of projects. Recently, the Iraqi construction sector is facing a number of problems. Abandoned construction projects are one of the most common and dangerous problems in the construction industry in Iraq, with their negative effects on stakeholders, the economy, and the environment due to the lack of sufficient financial and administrative capabilities to complete construction projects, which is reflected in exceeding the time limit for the completion of projects. The aim of this research is to use the analytic network process (ANP) technique to choose the best form of Public-Private Partnership (PPP) contracts to fund abandoned projects in Iraq. using a questionnaire survey to determine the most criteria and alternatives for selecting appropriate financing for the abandoned project. The results shown final weight of the Build-Own-Operate (BOO) contract from ANP is 0.533, which is the best form of PPP contract among the alternatives proposed to fund the project. Conclusion Focusing on unfinished projects is one of the major challenges facing the construction industry in developing countries like Iraq , as a result of financial crises, which have resulted in projects being stalled or abandoned in Iraq. As a result, the authors are attempting to choose the best funding model for PPP using ANP technology in order to complete the project,the authors conclude the following: Using the program software ANP to evaluate the best the Public-Private Partnership contract in abandoned projects is an effective tool for dealing with complex decision-making where results show that the best contract type that meets all criteria the BOO contract with a weight equal to 0.533, considered best, which improves the financing performance of the building during its lifecycle. Based on ANP technology, the PPP contracts criteria weights are Percent of completion, a Project nature and type, with the highest weight equal to 0.455 and 0.204 respectively and this result indicates that this criterion is of great importance for the selection of PPP contracts in abandoned projects Lack of professionalism in most management strategy, particularly with regard to the financial allocation of resources, as well as the spread of corruption and lack of transparency and justice. The limitations of this research are applying ANP to choose the best financing model at the construction stage of the project. For future study using various methods and case studies to determine the best funding model in construction projects.

The society orientation has shifted from a saving-oriented society to an investing-oriented society. Currently, investors have many choices of investment instruments to invest in the Islamic capital market. Previous studies have shown the factors that influence the capital market and influence investors' decisions to invest in the capital market. This study uses the Analytic Network Process (ANP) method to (1) determine the criteria that need to be taken into consideration in choosing an Islamic capital market investment instrument. (2) knowing the ideal investment instrument based on established criteria. The criteria used in this study include seven criteria, namely: investment performance criteria, risk criteria, liquidity criteria, macroeconomic factor criteria, individual circumstance criteria, psychological factor criteria, and demographic criteria. The respondents in this study were five experts from academics, practitioners, and regulator. The major findings of the research are (1) the criteria to be considered in choosing Islamic capital market investment instruments are divided into investor criteria and capital market criteria. Investor criteria include; psychological factors (motivation and self control), individual circumtances (financial literacy), demographics (income and education). Capital market criteria include: investment performance (capital gain, yield, and fundamental analysis), risk (financial risk, market risk and management risk), macroeconomic factors (exchange rates and gross domestic product), liquidity (liquidity ratio). (2) the alternative with the highest priority is sharia mutual funds, then sukuk and sharia stocks.

This research aims to: (1) Knowing the obstacles faced in implementing the Mutanaqisah Musharaka Financing (2) The solutions taken to overcome these obstacles; and (3) the right strategy to apply musyarakah mutanaqisah financing. This study uses the Analytic Network Process (ANP) method and the assistance of Super Decision software. ANP is carried out in three stages, namely: first, in-depth interviews with Islamic banking experts and practitioners to identify the factors that influence the minimum amount of musyarakah mutanaqisah. Second, the results of the first step are used to create an ANP framework and a questionnaire addressed to Islamic banking experts and practitioners; and third, ANP analysis to determine the best priorities, solutions and strategies for implementing Musyarakah mutanaqisah financing in Islamic banking.The results showed that: (1) The constraints faced by Islamic banking in implementing Musyarakah Mutanaqisah financing for Islamic banking KPRS financing can be divided into two, namely internal and external problems. Internal problems stem from internal banking, banking human resources, and musyarakah mutanaqisah financing products. External problems originate from customers, authorities, and Islamic banks. The most priority problem faced is internal problems, namely human resources (HR) associated with low knowledge and skills about the MMQ contract. Meanwhile, the most dominant external problem is Islamic banking with a lack of insight into the MMQ contract. (2) The solutions given in determining the financing strategy for the musyarakah mutanaqisah are divided into two, namely internal and external solutions. The most priority solution comes from internal solutions, namely product solutions in the form of Islamic banking that must vary the contract, especially for the MMQ contract; and (3) The alternative with the most priority in determining the financing implementation strategy with the musyarakah mutanaqisah contract in Islamic banking is the Socialization and Education Program, followed by Contract Optimization, Portfolio Development, Image Strengthening, MMQ Segmentation Mapping, and MMQ financing market segmentation.

The current study used the combined analytic network process with driving forces-pressures-state-impacts-responses framework in mulino decision support system. The Parishan wetland, located in Iran, has been selected as the case study. After an initial study of the conditions of Parishan wetland and identifying the stakeholders, the opinions of experts and local residents were gathered to identify the most important parameters influencing the conditions of the wetland. The analytic network process model was used to improve and reduce the number of input parameters to mulino decision support system. Then, the most important and the best responses associated with the management of Parishan wetland were identified through questionnaires and imported into mulino decision support system along with other components. Finally, the mulino decision support system decision algorithm was run. The findings revealed that reduced precipitation, land-use change, competition of farmers in the wetland to use water resources, and increased temperature were the main driving forces. Moreover, water transfer from the Nargesi Dam was chosen as the most effective response. The results suggest that the driving forces-pressures-state-impacts-responses framework in mulino decision support system algorithm combined with analytic network process model can be used as an integrated tool to study and manage wetland socio-ecological ecosystems.

Stunting affects stature with all the consequences of disruption of growth and development and also affects economic productivity. In Indonesia, which is mostly archipelago, stunting interventions require a multi-sectoral convergence strategy. Difficulties often occur in coordinating multi-sectoral cooperation in the policy process. It is even more challenging to formulate and define intervention strategies at different administrative levels. The Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) approach, such as Analytic Network Process (ANP), is one of the multi-criteria measurement approaches used to obtain the relative priority scale of individual evaluations relative dependence between elements. This approach is possible for use in the public sector,such as stunting interventions, with a high amount of information, interactions, and complexity levels. Therefore, this research aimed to develop an institutional strategy model for stunting intervention in the archipelago. The studywaslocated at Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB)University,Bogor and Bangka Belitung Island Province (Bangka and West Bangka Regency). The research method used pairwise comparison techniques with the ANP approachof15 expert informants selected purposively based on their expertise, position and work. The framework model's construction in this study was carried out through a literature review of strategic issues consisting of criteria and indicators in decision-making for stunting reduction. Data analysis utilized Superdecisionsversion 2.8software. The study results emphasized the priority strategies for nutrition-specific interventions in the initial phase of the first 1000 days of life, namely the conception period, pregnancy,and children under two years. Also, priority strategies for nutrition-sensitive interventions emphasized the importance of integrative holistic care patterns with access to safe water and improved sanitation. Based on this research, it can be concluded that the priority strategy model for stunting reduction in Indonesia, especially the archipelago, requires simultaneous multi-sectoral convergence. Recommendations for further research are to develop an intervention model in the practice of nutritious feeding with integrated, holistic, clean water, and improved sanitation access by the characteristics of the research location.

Driven by the development of global Energy Internet and the requirement of energy transition, the sharing economy mode in energy sector has turned into a novel inspiration. This study aims to analyze an innovative form as a new attempt of sharing economy in China’s renewables. The Analytic Network Process method is used as an exploratory approach. A feasibility evaluation system for the Uber-like mode plus renewables project is established from the aspects of technical-economic feasibility, social-environmental feasibility, energy feasibility and reliability feasibility. The Uber-like mode plus wind project, as one specific application, is chosen as a case study to verify the effectiveness of the evaluation model. Based on the evaluation results, SWOT is adopted to discuss the internal conditions and the external environment for Renewables’ Sharing Economy in China. The results show that: (1) The Energy with Uber-like Mode is theoretically feasible, and it can be a prime example of the “Energy Internet and Sharing Economy” scheme. (2) The feasibility evaluation system can be applied to regulate the key problems in the Renewables’ Sharing Economy. (3) Analyzed by the SWOT, the unfavourable factors should be paid more attention to the Uber-like mode plus renewables project than the favorable factors.

This paper discusses the Tourism Destination Development Strategy. In improving the tourism sector in an area, at least one has to develop the 3A concept (Attractions, Accessibility, and Amenities). The tourism sector is a mainstay for Central Aceh to be developed as a tourism destination because Central Aceh has attractions that can be developed into tourist attractions. The method used in this study using the Analytic Network Process (ANP) approach with the help of Super Decision software, by performing a synthesis analysis of problems, solutions, and strategies. The results of the respondents' answers indicated that the priority problems were infrastructure, attractiveness, and promotion problems. Meanwhile, the most priority solutions are solutions to improve infrastructure, namely transportation and travel, attraction, and promotion. And the most prioritized strategy is the improvement of infrastructure facilities and synergy.

PurposeThe literature on Kaizen transferability to non-Japanese culture is still evolving. The results suggest that the relevant research is still at a descriptive and explanatory stage. This study aims to identify and prioritize the importance of significant Kaizen transferability factors in a non-Japanese culture.Design/methodology/approachA decision theory-based prescriptive analysis methodology was used to analyze identified Kaizen transferability success factors. Firstly, a list of Kaizen transferability factors was devised from the literature using a systematic literature review. Secondly, an integrated interpretative structure modeling and analytic network process approach were applied to generate preference among factors.FindingsA framework with a prioritized Kaizen transferability success factors included, in ascending order, organization culture, employee participation, employee discipline, employee personal initiative, top management commitment, management enforcement, employee eagerness, management support and national culture and traditions.Research limitations/implicationsManagers and decision-makers would better understand where to direct their effort and attention to implement the Kaizen management philosophy to improve firm-level productivity. Although the factors studied in this research considered the Indonesian context, the proposed framework could be replicated and extended to include other cultures.Originality/valueThe present work contributes to the limited studies and documentation on Kaizen activities' transferability challenges and the Kaizen body of knowledge in developing countries. This study should help organizations in other developing countries, assimilate how to adopt and manage the Kaizen philosophy implementation by following the framework created in this research.

The number of public-private partnership (PPP) projects has gone up especially in developing countries. The risk assessment of PPP projects is essential in ensuring project success. The objective of this study is to develop an Analytic Network Process (ANP) based risk assessment model for hydropower investments, and a tool to facilitate quantification of risk ratings based on this model. The results show that the three most important risk factors that affect the overall risk rating of a PPP hydropower investment are legal risks, contractor/subcontractor risks, and operator risks. In addition, the three most important risk clusters were identified as stakeholders, government requirements, and resources, whereas market was the least important cluster. The tool that measures the risk rating of a PPP of hydropower project was tested on ten real cases, and satisfactory results were obtained in terms of its predictive capability. The contributions of this research include (1) identification of the risk factors and clusters of factors associated with PPP hydropower investments; (2) determination of the priority of each risk factor and cluster; (3) development a tool that guides the investors through the risk assessment of PPP hydropower investments.
