Preliminary experiments were performed which indicate that the loss of morphogenetic properties by embryonic chick limb mesoderm has standard biochemical kinetics, with a Q10 somewhat greater than 2. Morphogenetic capability is virtually absent after 45 hr of culture at 37°C. After culturing at 27°C, morphogenetic capability is retained even after 96 hr, and at 17°C retention of morphogenetic capability is observed after 10 days of culture.
