Autism is a common disease that seriously affects the quality of life. The role of circular RNAs (circRNAs) in autism remains largely unexplored. We aimed to detect the circRNA expression profile and construct a circRNA-based competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) network in autism. Valproate acid was used to establish an in vivo model of autism in mice. A total of 1,059 differentially expressed circRNAs (477 upregulated and 582 downregulated) in autism group was identified by RNA sequencing. The expression of novel_circ_015779 and novel_circ_035247 were detected by real-time PCR. A ceRNA network based on altered circRNAs was established, with 9,715 nodes and 150,408 edges. Module analysis was conducted followed by GO and KEGG pathway enrichment analysis. The top three modules were all correlated with autism-related pathways involving “TGF-beta signaling pathway,” “Notch signaling pathway,” “MAPK signaling pathway,” “long term depression,” “thyroid hormone signaling pathway,” etc. The present study reveals a novel circRNA involved mechanisms in the pathogenesis of autism.

The movement and posture disorder of cerebral palsy (CP) is presumed to mainly be a consequence of the motor disorder, but accompanying disturbances with sensations and perception have also been suggested to influence motor function. The heterogeneous condition of CP is caused by an injury to the immature brain affecting movement and posture development. The attainment of standing and walking can be difficult and an assistive device to accomplish the tasks may be required for some children with CP. In this review, we enlightened the role of possible sensory and perceptual disturbances for standing difficulties in children with CP.

In this work we successfully integrated the split-gate SuperFlash® ESF1 cell into our 130nm BCD (Bipolar-CMOS-DMOS) platform for automotive applications. The platform enhances the modularity of flash macro in addition to logic devices, high performance power devices up to 85V as well as complimentary analog devices such as a BJT, MIM and Poly Resistor. Besides maintaining BCD device performance, the embedded flash operating temperature range from - 40°C to 170°C, programmability, chip erase & read access time well meet the specifications. Endurance cycling of up to 20k cycles and data retention of over 20 years well satisfy AECQ-100 Automotive Grade 0 requirements.

Objective This retrospective study aimed to establish an early identification score system of cerebral palsy (CP) in the writhing movement period of high-risk infants by detailed assessment of general movements (GMs). Methods High-risk infants from our hospital during January 2016 to January 2017 were included. GMs were assessed and a detailed score was calculated. The 52-neuromotor examination for 0- to 1-year-olds was performed and follow-up outcome was determined at the 12th month according to CP diagnostic criteria. An early identification score of detailed assessment was established in the writhing movement period of infants. Results The detailed score during the writhing movement period was significantly different among the normal, poor repertoire, and cramped-synchronized groups of GMs ( F = 208.186). Detailed scores were positively related to 52-neuromotor examination scores, with a correlation coefficient of 0.218. The predictive validity of the early identification score was 92.11%, sensitivity was 100%, specificity was 90.00%, the positive predictive value was 72.73%, the negative predictive value was 100%, the false positive rate was 10, and the false negative rate was 0. Conclusion The detailed GM score in the writhing movement period is correlated with 52-neuromotor examination results. The CP early identification score could be useful in clinical practice.

Investigation of an organic extract of the stems of Garcinia bracteata led to the isolation of two new flavones, named bracflavones A (1) and B (2). Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic evidence. The compounds feature an isopropoxy group at C-3 compared with related known flavonoids isolated from the genus Garcinia. Compounds 1 and 2 were tested for their cytotoxicity. The results revealed that compound 1 showed high cytotoxicity against A549 and PC3 cell lines, and compound 2 showed high cytotoxicity against NB4, A549, SH-SY5Y, PC3, and MCF7 cell lines.

Two new flavonoids, pauciaurone A (1) and pauciisoflavone A (2), together with three known isoflavones (3–5), were isolated from the stems of Garcinia paucinervis. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods, including extensive 1D and 2D NMR techniques. Compounds 1 and 2 were tested for their cytotoxicities against five human tumor cell lines and showed potential cytotoxic properties against certain tumor cell lines.

An extreme point of scale space extraction method for binary multiscale and rotation invariant local feature descriptor is studied in this paper in order to obtain a robust and fast method for local image feature descriptor. Classic local feature description algorithms often select neighborhood information of feature points which are extremes of image scale space, obtained by constructing the image pyramid using certain signal transform method. But build the image pyramid always consumes a large amount of computing and storage resources, is not conducive to the actual applications development. This paper presents a dual multiscale FAST algorithm, it does not need to build the image pyramid, but can extract feature points of scale extreme quickly. Feature points extracted by proposed method have the characteristic of multiscale and rotation Invariant and are fit to construct the local feature descriptor.

Neuro-inflammation is widely regarded as the inflammation occurred in the central nervous system (CNS) tissue, which authentically involved in the pathogenesis such as depression although the underlying mechanism remains to be elucidated. Malva sylvestris (MS), a plant widely used in traditional medicine to mitigate urological, respiratory and oral diseases, exhibits excellent anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory properties. In the present study, we first used LPS-induced depression-like mice to evaluate the neuro-protective effect of MS extract. We found that, after 7 days' administration of MS extract, the cognitive impairment of LPS-induced depression-like mice was efficiently alleviated, evaluated by behavioral test including the Open field, Morris water maze (MWM), Elevated plus-maze (EPM) and Rota-rod test. Furthermore, we found that MS extract also inhibited the LPS-induced neuron apoptosis and astrogliosis both in the cortex and the CA1 region of hippocampus. Finally, our findings showed that the extract of MS relieved inflammatory stress induced by LPS injury, indicated by the down-regulation of IL-1β/6 and TNF-α, and up-regulation of IL-4 level both in vitro and in vivo. Collectively, MS extract exhibits neuro-protective activity in vivo, and therefore, it may be widely used for food to relieve the symptoms of neuro-inflammation associated disorders such as depression.

Genetic Algorithm (GA) has been successfully applied to many optimization problems. One problem with Standard GA is its premature convergence for complex multi-modal functions. To overcome it, in this paper a novel genetic algorithm with age and sexual features is proposed. Age and sexual features are provided to individuals to simulate the sexual reproduction popular in nature. During applying age and sexual operators, different evolutionary parameters are given to genetic individuals. As a result, the proposed Genetic Algorithm can combat premature convergence and maintain the diversity of population, and thereby converge on global solutions.
