Laparoscopic lateral pelvic lymph node dissection (LPND) is limited by complex neurovascular bundles in the narrow pelvic sidewall and various post-operative complications. Indocyanine green (ICG) has been applied to increase the number of harvested lymph nodes and reduce the injury of irrelevant vessels in patients with rectal cancer. However, few studies on the recurrence rate of ICG fluorescence imaging-guided laparoscopic LPND were reported. This retrospective study enrolled 50 middle- low rectal cancer patients who were treated by LPND. After propensity score matching, 20 patients were matched in each of the indocyanine green (ICG) guided imaging group (ICG group) and non-ICG guided imaging group (non-ICG group). The average follow-up time was 13.5 months (12–15 months). Our results showed that the total number of harvested lymph nodes in the ICG group was significantly higher than that in the non-ICG group (P < 0.05), and intraoperative blood loss and post-operative hospital stay times in the ICG group were less than those in the non-ICG group (P < 0.05). After 12 months of follow-up, no residual lymph node and local tumor recurrence were found for patients in the ICG group. Four patients in the non-ICG group detected residual lymph nodes at the 3-month visit. Our findings highlighted the importance of ICG fluorescence-guided imaging in LPND because it has unique advantages in improving the number of lymph node dissections, surgical accuracy, and decreasing the residual lymph nodes and local tumor recurrence. In addition, ICG fluorescence guidance technology can effectively shorten the operation time, and it is simple to operate, which is worth popularizing.

This study explored the mechanism of Sanhuang Decoction(SHD) in treating dextran sulfate sodium(DSS)-induced ulcerative colitis(UC) in mice with Candida albicans(Ca) colonization via high-throughput transcriptome sequencing. Specifically, the animal model was established by oral administration of 3.0% DSS for 7 days followed by intragastrical administration of Ca suspension at 1.0 × 10~8 cells for 4 days and then the mice were treated with SHD enema for 7 days. Afterwards, the general signs were observed and the disease activity index(DAI) was recorded every day. After mice were sacrificed, colon length and colon mucosa damage index(CMDI) were determined and the histomorphology was observed with the HE staining method. The fungal loads of feces were detected with the plate method. Anti-saccharomyces cerevisiae antibody(ASCA) and β-1,3-glucan in serum, and TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6 in serum and colon were detected by ELISA. High-throughput RNA sequencing method was adopted to identify transcriptome of colon tissues from the control, model and SHD(15.0 g·kg~(-1)) groups. Differentially expressed genes(DEGs) among groups were screened and the GO and KEGG pathway enrichment analysis of the DEGs was performed. The expression levels of NLRP3, ASC, caspase-1, and IL-1β genes related to the NOD-like receptor signaling pathway which involved 9 DEGs, were examined by qRT-PCR and Western blot. The results demonstrated that SHD improved the general signs, decreased DAI and Ca loads of feaces, alleviated colon edema, erosion, and shortening, and lowered the content of β-1,3-glucan in serum and TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6 in serum and colon tissues of mice. Transcriptome sequencing revealed 383 DEGs between SHD and model groups, which were mainly involved in the biological processes of immune system, response to bacterium, and innate immune response. They were mainly enriched in the NOD-like signaling pathway, cytokine-cytokine interaction pathway, and retinol metabolism pathway. Moreover, SHD down-regulated the mRNA and protein levels of NLRP3, caspase-1, and IL-1β. In a word, SHD ameliorates DSS-induced UC in mice colonized with Ca, which probably relates to its regulation of NOD-like receptor signaling pathway.

Background Ulcerative colitis (UC) is an important inflammatory phenotype in bowel disease (IBD), which is caused by multiple potential factors, including fungal dysbiosis. Candida albicans (C. albicans) was confirmed to be an important factor promoting the occurrence and development of UC. Sanhuang decoction (SHD) has been used for UC therapy in China for thousand of years, although its core active constituents and pharmacological mechanism remain undefined. Methods In this work, a murine model of UC with C. albicans colonization was established with dextran sodium sulfate (DSS) and C. albicans intragastric administration. The major bioactive constituents and potential mechanism of SHD against UC with fungal dysbiosis were comprehensively examined by combining systems pharmacology and in vivo transcriptomics. Results SHD attenuated C. albicans burden, reduced DAI, increased mucosal integrity and relived systemic inflammation in UC mice. Systems pharmacology analysis identified 9 core bioactive ingredients and 45 hub targets of SHD against UC. Transcriptomics analysis confirmed 370 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) after SHD treatment, which were mainly enriched in inflammatory and immune response related signaling pathways. Toll-like receptor and PI3K-Akt signaling pathway were screened out as the candidate targets involved in the action of SHD on fungal dysbiosis-associated UC, which were consistent with the findings in systems pharmacology. The expression of TLR4, IL-1β, NF-κB, PI3K and Akt proteins were stimulated by C. albicans, and partially reversed by SHD in UC mice. Conclusion These findings suggested SHD could be a candidate for the treatment of fungal dysbiosis-associated UC via TLR4-NF-κB and PI3K-Akt signaling pathways.

Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.), a species of the family Solanaceae, is the fourth most important food crop worldwide. Solanum tuberosum L. cv. Atlantic, a main fried special potato, has a dry matter content of 19%–23% and a starch content of 16.26% in the tuber. In order to support more molecular data for the taxony of S. tuberosum, the complete chloroplast (cp) genome sequence of S. tuberosum L. cv. Atlantic was determined using next-generation sequencing. In leaves, the chloroplast genome accounts for 5.49% of the total genome. The entire cp genome was determined to be 155,296 bp in length. It contained large single-copy (LSC) and small single-copy (SSC) regions of 85,737 and 18,373 bp, respectively, which were separated by a pair of 25,593 bp inverted repeat (IR) regions. The genome contained 132 genes, including 87 protein-coding genes, 37 tRNA genes, and eight rRNA genes. The overall GC content of the genome is 37.9%. A phylogenetic tree reconstructed by 64 chloroplast genomes reveals that S. tuberosum L. cv. Atlantic is most closely related to Solanum tuberosum L. cv. Desiree.

To observe the efficacy of cinnamaldehyde on dextran sulfate sodium(DSS)-induced ulcerative colitis(UC) with Can-dida albicans(Ca) colonization and its effect on dectin-1/TLRs/NF-κB signaling pathway in mice. C57 BL/6 mice were randomly divided into normal group, DSS group, DSS+Ca group, cinnamaldehyde group and mesalazine group. Mice in DSS+Ca group were given Ca(1×10~8 CFU per mouse) through intragastrical administration for 4 consecutive days and then distilled water with 3.0% DSS for 7 consecutive days. In cinnamaldehyde group and mesalazine group, in addition to the induction method of the DSS+Ca group, mice were given 75 mg·kg~(-1) cinnamaldehyde and 200 mg·kg~(-1) mesalazine accompanied with 3.0% DSS for 7 consecutive days, respectively. Mice in normal group and DSS group were correspondingly administered with distilled water. The general conditions of the mice were observed daily, the diseased activity index(DAI) score was calculated, and fungal loads of feces were detected by plate method. The mice were sacrificed on day 12, colon length was measured, colon mucosa damage index(CMDI) score was calculated, and histopathological analysis was carried out by HE staining. Anti-saccharomces cerevisiae antibody(ASCA) and β-1,3-glucan in serum, and TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10 in serum and colon tissue were detected by ELISA. The contents of β-1,3-glucan and macrophage infiltration in colon tissues were examined by immunofluorescence staining. The protein expressions of dectin-1, TLR2, TLR4 and NF-κB were detected by Western blot and immunohistochemistry staining. The results showed that cinnamaldehyde could significantly improve the general conditions of UC mice with Ca colonization, decrease DAI and histopathological scores, reduce intestinal mucosal congestion, erosion and colon shortening, decrease Ca load in mouse feces and tissues, down-regulate the contents of ASCA and β-1,3-glucan in serum, reduce the contents of TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8 and increase IL-10 in serum and colon tissues, inhibit macrophages infiltration and down-regulate the protein expression of dectin-1, TLR2, TLR4 and NF-κB in colon tissue. These results suggested that cinnamaldehyde had a therapeutic effect on UC mice with Ca colonization, which might be related to the inhibition of Ca proliferation, the regulation of dectin-1/TLRs/NF-κB signaling pathways and the coordination of the balance between pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory factors.

The family of Wnt proteins have been implicated in embryogenesis by regulation of cell fate and pattern formation, and also in human carcinogenesis. Wnt10B was previously shown to be involved in breast cancer development. The present study assessed the association of Wnt10B expression in human gastric cancer tissue specimens with clinicopathological data from these patients. Wnt10B expression in the regulation of gastric cancer cell proliferation and migration capacity in vitro was then investigated. The data revealed that Wnt10B mRNA and protein were upregulated in gastric cancer tissue samples and the upregulated Wnt10B mRNA was associated with gastric cancer metastasizing to lymph nodes. Knockdown of Wnt10B expression reduced gastric cancer cell proliferation and migration, as well as expression of a cell proliferation marker Ki67. Knockdown of Wnt10B expression inhibited tumor cell epithelial-mesenchymal transition by upregulation of E-cadherin and downregulation of N-cadherin. In addition, Wnt10B knockdown also suppressed tumor cell stemness by downregulation of octamer-binding transcription factor 4 and Nanog expression. The present data indicated that Wnt10B expression performs an important role in gastric cancer progression in vitro. Therefore, targeting of Wnt10B expression or activity may be investigated as a possible strategy for the control of gastric cancer.

Taking stress wave propagation into account, the governing equations of composite bar with the clamped-fixed boundary conditions considering FSDT (first order shear deformation theory) are derived on the basis of Reddy’ theory and solved by the variable-separated method. The analytic expression of the critical buckling load is obtained basing on the characteristics of homogeneous linear equations having nonzero-solution. The results of the theoretical study and the numerical calculation indicate that FSDT has influence on dynamic buckling of composite bar, and the critical buckling load is small when FSDT is considered. They also show that the magnitude of effect taken by FSDT is small when the layer angle is big.

Taking into account the effects of stress wave and the moment of inertia, the governing equations of composite laminated plate under the axial step load are derived by using Hamilton principle. Based on Variable Separation Method, the analytical expression of the critical dynamic buckling load for symmetry composite laminated plates with one edge fixed and three edges simply-supported can be deduced by considering the characteristics of the buckling solution, and the buckling mode is also acquired. Using MATLAB software, the relationship between the critical load and length can be obtained. The influences of different layer parameters and the order of the mode on the dynamic buckling are discussed.

Considering the effect of stress wave, the dynamic buckling of circular cylindrical shells under an axial step load is discussed using the classical shell theories and the state-space technique in the paper. Based on the Hamilton’s principle, the dynamic buckling governing equations of shells are derived and solved with the Rayleigh-Ritz method. If the linear homogeneous equations have a non-trivial solution, the determinant of the coefficient matrix must be equal to zero, so the expression of the critical load on the dynamic buckling is got. The relationship between the critical load and length is obtained by using MATLAB software. The influences of boundary conditions, thickness, the number of circumferential waves and the number of axial waves on the dynamic buckling loads are discussed based on numerical computation.

Computer simulation on the dynamic buckling of different forms of initial-defect and different boundary conditions plates under axial impact load was carried out by using ABAQUS /Standard.The strain-time history curve of the symmetric point of upper and lower surface is give,they are coincidence before the buckling and suddenly separate when the buckling occur which is called be bifurcation,and the critical buckling time is also acquired. The results indicate that the influence of different initial-defect locations and amplitudes on the dynamic buckling is very great.

The computer simulation of the dynamic buckling on the cylindrical shell subjected to pulse load was carried out by ABAQUS/Expliect. The value of the rectangle and triangle pulse load is the same and the shape is different, and they are applied on the impact end of the cyclindrical shell. The influence of the load amplitude, the shape of load and the effect of the stress wave on the critical buckling time of cylindrical shell were discussed. The radial displacement curve was obtained which indicates that stress wave propagate along the length of the cylindrical shells, and the curve of strain time history is also acquired which is used to judge bifurcation and give the critical time.

This study investigates the potential use of activated carbon prepared from Phragmites Australis for the removal of 2,4-dichlorophenol (DCP) and Rhodamine-B (RB) from aqueous solutions. P. Australis activated carbon (PAAC), a new adsorbent, was prepared from P. Australis by H3PO4 activation. Batch adsorption studies were conducted to evaluate the effect of various parameters such as pH, adsorbent dose, contact time and initial 2,4-DCP and RB concentration. Accordingly, the activated carbon developed in this study is effective and practical for utilization in wastewater treatment for 2,4-DCP and RB removal.

Dinuclear indenyl ruthenium complexes were prepared and characterized using X-ray crystallography. Their crystal structures revealed the first examples of indenyl complexes containing an unusual η3 coordination mode with bonding through the junction carbon and the adjacent carbons of the five- and six-membered rings of the indenyl ligand.

Dynamic buckling of bars under step load was studied by considering the stress wave effect. Straight bars without axial inertia were taken as an example when deformation was small. The buckling solution satisfying the boundary conditions was given by the semi-analytic method. The buckling solution was substituted to the dynamic buckling governing equations. The unified expression of dynamic buckling critical load was obtained by discussing the character of the solution. The dynamic buckling critical load was obtained by calculating the value of when the stress wave propagated to the critical length . The value of dynamic buckling load was 2.5 times the one’s of static buckling load with corresponding equivalent length.

A recognition method based on Wavelet Packet Decomposition - Common Spatial Patterns (WPD-CSP) and Kernel Fisher Support Vector Machine (KF-SVM) is developed and used for EEG recognition in motor imagery brain–computer interfaces (BCIs). The WPD-CSP is used for feature extraction and KF-SVM is used for classification. The presented recognition method includes the following steps: (1) some important EEG channels are selected. The 'haar' wavelet basis is used to take wavelet packet decomposition. And some decomposed sub-bands related with motor imagery for each EEG channel are reconstructed to obtain the relevant frequency information. (2) A six-dimensional feature vector is obtained by the CSP feature extraction to the reconstructed signal. And then the within-class scatter is calculated based on the feature vector. (3) The scatter is added into the radical basis function to construct a new kernel function. The obtained new kernel is integrated into the SVM to act as its kernel function. To evaluate effectiveness of the proposed WPD-CSP + KF-SVM method, the data from the 2008 international BCI competition are processed. A preliminary result shows that the proposed classification algorithm can well recognize EEG data and improve the EEG recognition accuracy in motor imagery BCIs.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic inflammatory disease with complex genetic factors. Single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the SLC22A4 gene have been previously reported to be associated with RA in Japanese but not European populations. This study further investigated the association of SLC22A4 polymorphisms, in particular slc2F1/slc2F2, with RA in the Chinese population, the largest Asian population. A total of 160 human subjects with 95 RA patients and 65 healthy controls were genotyped for slc2F1-G/A and slc2F2-C/T polymorphisms. The results showed that there was a significant difference in the genotype distribution of these two polymorphisms between the two groups. In addition, the presence of slc2F1 A allele and slc2F2 T allele carries a 1.93-fold and 2.14-fold increased risk for anticyclic citrullinated peptide (CCP) positivity, respectively. Overall, this study provided evidence that SLC22A4 gene polymorphisms played important roles in the etiology of RA in the largest Asian population, the Chinese population.

The dynamic response of fluid-filled hemispherical shell in mass impact is studied by experiment using DHR9401. Combining the time history of impact force with experimental observation of the deformation process, it can be seen that the dynamic response can be divided into four stages: the flattening around the impact point, the forming and expanding outward of shell plastic hinge, the plastic edge region flatten by the punch, and elastic recovery. The experimental results show that: Because the shell filled with liquid, the local impact load that the shell suffered is translated into area load and loads on the inner shell uniformly, so that it has a high carrying capacity. Numerical simulation is used to study the time history of energy absorption of different shell structures. The result shows that the crashworthiness of sandwich fluid-filled shell is improved greatly. Under the certain impact energy, deformation of its inner shell is very small, which can provide effective security space.

Computer simulation of cylindrical shell subject to lateral impact by rigid projectile is carried out. The effects of three kinds of typical rigid projectiles, geometric parameters of cylindrical shell and constraint conditions on critical speed are analyzed. The results indicate that the shape of projectile and size of cylindrical shell have a great influence on penetration, and the tapered projectile has a minimum critical speed. The influence of constraint conditions on penetration has a great relationship with thickness of cylindrical shells; energy distribution varies with different thickness of cylindrical shells.

To evaluate the clinical value of circulating tumor cells (CTC) count in peripheral venous blood of patients with non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC).A total of 50 NSCLC patients who were diagnosed in Wuxi No. 2 People's Hospital from January 2013 to December 2013 were selected as the NSCLC group, 35 patients with lung benign tumor as the benign group, and 28 healthy subjects as the normal control group. Venous blood samples (3 mL) were collected in all subjects for counting the CTC, and a result of ≥8.7 was judged to be positive. The relationships between the positive rate of CTC and the age, sex, pathological type, and clinical stage of NSCLC were analyzed.CTC count was significantly higher in NSCLC group than in benign group and normal control group. In NSCLC patients, CTC count was not significantly correlated with sex, age, or the pathological type (P0.05) but was closely related to clinical stage (P0.01). Among NSCLC patients, CTC count significantly increased along with tumor progression.CTC count shows certain correlation with the clinical features of NSCLC and thus can, to certain extent, reflect the status of the disease.

With the Drucker-Prager yield criterion, the ANSYS software is used to analyze the long-short-pile composite foundation by using three-dimensional nonlinear finite element method. The influences of load on axial stress and maximal axial stress of head of pile with cushion or not have been investigated by simulating composite foundation through nine long piles and sixteen short piles. The result indicates the cushion can reduce the stress concentration in head of pile effectively with increase of load. This conclusion has a certain value for engineering.

The buckling of no-way double-layer portal frame that column is fixed is simulated by using ANSYS. Through analyzing the portal frame subjected to different loads on the roof of the structure that are uniform load, trapezoidal load and triangular load, the critical buckling load of the double-layer portal frame and buckling mode are obtained. The regular between the critical buckling load and the form of the load on the roof can be acquired by the analysis of the results, which can be used as a reference for engineering application.

In this paper, determinate beam and indeterminate beam with multiple span are optimized by using genetic algorithm, the mathematic model of optimize beam is built and the processing method of constraint conditions is given. The examples show that the algorithm could be used for optimizing determinate structure, and also optimizing indeterminate structure. Compared to the linear approximation method, genetic algorithm has advantages of being simple, easy, fast convergence and has no use for changing the objective function and constraint conditions to linearity or other processing. Its results agree with linear approximation method’s. It is the other method that can be adopt in engineering field.

The dynamic buckling of composite bars subject to axial rigid body impact are simulated using the finite-element software ABAQUS6.8. The critical velocity and the bifurcate time are obtained by stain-time curve and effects of fiber angle and impact velocity on dynamic buckling behavior of composite bars are also investigated. The results indicate that the ply angle and impact velocity have an influence on dynamic buckling of composite bars.

Compressive buckling of laminate plates with a delamination are simulated using ABAQUS 6.8 software. Effects of sizes, positions, asymmetric and shapes of delamination on the compressive buckling are investigated without the consideration of delamination growth and contact. The results indicate the sizes, positions, asymmetric and shapes of delamination have an important influence on compressive buckling.

Chaotic motion of symmetric laminated composite arch with two hinge supports under transverse periodic excitation was investigated. The nonlinear dynamic equations of the arch are changed into the square-order and cubic nonlinear differential dynamic system by Galerkin method, and its homoclinic orbit parameter equations are also acquired. The critical conditions of horseshoe-type chaos are obtained by using Melnikov function. The influence of loading frequency on chaotic region are analysed by numerical calculation. The motion behaviors of system are described through the bifurcation diagrams, the time-history curve, phase portrait and Poincaré map. The results are given as follows. The influence of loading frequency on chaotic region are significant. When the height of arch reach some value, the system can occur horseshoe-type chaos. The system of symmetric laminated composite arch under transverse periodic excitation may occur steady motion and chaotic motion.

The axial impact buckling of thin metallic cylindrical shells fully filled with water was studied through impact experiments and numerical simulations. Low velocity impact tests were carried out by DHR-9401 drop hammer rig. The experimental results indicate that quite high internal hydrodynamic pressure occurs inside the shell during the impact process. Under the combined action of high internal pressure and axial compression the thin-walled shells buckle plastically and the buckling modes take on regular and axisymmetric wrinkles. Under the joint action of the high internal pressure and the axial compression plastic buckling take place easily on the thin-walled shells and buckling modes take on regular and axisymmetric wrinkles. These results of the tests were used to validate a numerical model. The validated model was used in a parametric study of impacted specimens and these included variations in the shell wall thickness, material strength, length of the specimen and velocity of impact.

The experimental studies on the dynamic buckling of the perfect bars with three kinds of lengths under impulsive axial compression were completed and the boundary condition of clamped-fixed was realized firstly in present studies. The time-history curves of axial strain of bars under different impact velocity were recorded. According to the magnitudes of the axial strain and bifurcate time, the quantitative relation of dynamic buckling load and critical bifurcate length are achieved; according to the curves recorded, the lateral velocity of bars are computed also. The experimental results show that the dynamic buckling load of the bar is distinctly greater than the static one, the front of stress wave can be regarded as fixed and the effect of the axial stress wave in the dynamic buckling of bar must be considered.

The dynamic buckling of an elastic-plastic column subjected to an axial impact by a rigid body was discussed by using the energy law. The traveling process of elastic-plastic waves under impact action was analyzed by characteristics method. The equation of lateral disturbance used to analyze the problem was developed by taking into account the effect of elastic-plastic stress wave. The power series solution of this problem has been the power series approach. The buckling criterion of this problem was proposed by analyzing the characteristics of the solution. The relationship among critical velocity and impact mass, critical buckling length, hardening modulus was given by using theoretical analysis and numerical computation.

In order to determine the prevalence and molecular characterization of hemoglobinopathies in the Wuxi region of Jiangsu Province in the People's Republic of China (PRC), a total of 10,297 healthy people selected from a regional hospital were screened. Hemoglobin (Hb) electrophoresis, complete blood cell (CBC) count, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), DNA sequencing, reverse dot-blot and multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification (MLPA) were used to detect Hb variants, thalassemias and hereditary persistence of fetal Hb (HPFH). Two thousand and twenty-one adult subjects were screened for thalassemia, five cases were identified as α-thalassemia (α-thal) carriers including three cases of the -α(3.7) (rightward) deletion, one case of the - -(SEA) deletion and one case of β-thal [IVS-II-654 (CT), (HBB: c.316-197CT)]. The incidence of Hb variants, thalassemia and HPFH/δβ-thal were 0.136% (14/10,297), 0.25% (5/2021) and 0.0001% (1/10,297), respectively. Eight genotypes of Hb variants were found, including Hb E [β26(B8)Glu→Lys, GAGAAG; HBB: c.79GA], Hb J-Bangkok [β56(D7)Gly→Asp (GGCGAC); HBB; c.170GA], Hb G-Coushatta [β22(4)Glu→Ala (GAAGCA); HBB: c.68AC], Hb Queens [α34(B15)Leu→Arg (CTGCGG) (α2 or α1); HBA2: c.104TG (or HBA1)], Hb I [α16(A14)Lys→Glu, AAGGAG (α1); HBA1: c.49AG], Hb Beijing [α16(A14)Lys→Asn (AAGAAC or AAT) (α2 or α1); HBA2: c.51GC (or HBA1) or 51GT (or HBA1)], Hb Ube-2 [α68(E17)Asn→Asp (AACGAC) (α2 or α1); HBA2: c.205AG (or HBA1)] and Hb G-Taipei [β22(B4)Glu→Gly (GAAGGA); HBB: c.68AG]. A Sicilian δβ(0)-thal, identified for the first time in Asia, was also found in this survey.

Thermal treatment of (1H-inden-3-yl)dicyclohexylphosphinium tetrafluoroborate (1) and (3-mesityl-1H-inden-3-yl)dicyclohexylphosphinium tetrafluoroborate (3) with tBuONa followed by [(η(6)-cymene)RuCl(2))](2) in methanol gave the adduct {(η(6)-cymene)RuCl(2)[(1H-inden-3-yl)PCy(2)]} (6) and {(η(6)-cymene)RuCl(2)[(3-mesityl-1H-inden-3-yl)PCy(2)]} (7), respectively. Thermal treatment of (2-phenyl-1H-inden-3-yl)dicyclohexylphosphinium tetrafluoroborate (4) with tBuONa followed by [(η(6)-cymene)RuCl(2))](2) or RuCl(3)·3H(2)O in methanol gave {Ru[κ(P):(η(6)-2-phenyl-1H-inden-3-yl)PCy(2)]Cl(2)} (8). Whereas (2-mesityl-1H-inden-3-yl)dicyclohexylphosphine (5) reacted with [(η(6)-cymene)RuCl(2))](2) (in toluene) or RuCl(3)·3H(2)O (in ethanol) to afford {Ru[κ(P):(η(6)-2-mesityl-1H-inden-3-yl)PCy(2)]Cl(2)} (9). The molecular structures of complexes 6, 8 and 9 have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. In addition, complexes 8 and 9 have been found to catalyze the acceptorless dehydrogenation of alcohols in toluene. 9 displayed high activity and different substrates, including cyclic and linear alcohols, were efficiently oxidized to ketones by using 2.0 mol% of catalyst.

To analyze the clinical features, especially surgical treatment of superior vena cava syndrome (SVCS).The clinical data of 26 patients with SVCS, 19 males and 7 females, aged 37 (19-63), diagnosed base on the space occupying lesion in mediastinum and complete or incomplete obstruction of SVC and/or innominate vein by imaging examination without evidence of tumor in other parts and without evidence of lymphoma in the mediastinal lesion by pathological examination, who underwent surgical treatment were analyzed, focusing on the clinical presentation, preoperative examination, surgical treatment, pathological diagnosis, and survival.Facial cyanosis and edema, cervical and chest wall varicose veins, headache and dizziness, cough and dyspnea were the most common clinical manifestations. Pre-operative percutaneous needle biopsy guided by CT confirmed the diagnoses of malignant tumor of mediastinum in 6 cases and definite diagnoses failed to be got in the other 20 cases. Resection of the primary lesions combined with artificial blood vessel replacement of SVC was performed. Twenty patients received complete resection, and 6 received only incomplete excision because of extensiveness of lesions. The mean survival time of the former group was 30 months, significantly longer than that of the latter group (11 months, P = 0.0036). The overall 1-year survival rate was 69.2%, and 5-year survival rate was 7.6%.Resection procedure is an important factor influencing the prognosis of SVCS.
