Dispatchable energy storage system (ESS) plays a critical role in the smart grid through energy shift and power support. However, it exhibits different operational strategies and economic benefits in different application scenarios due to its inherent degradation behaviour. This paper aims to explore the technical and economic feasibility of the flexible traction power supply system (FTPSS) integrating ESS and renewable energy sources (RES) based on the traction load characteristics. First, a battery degradation model applicable in its frequent charging and discharging operating conditions is derived. Then this paper develops an operational-sizing co-optimization framework for the ESS in the FTPSS, where the operation decisions are made considering the degradation costs varying with the sizes and energy throughput. To solve this large-scale non-linear intertemporal decision-making problem, an iterative method with a linear programming (LP) core is proposed to achieve the trade-off between computational efficiency and accuracy. The results of the extensive comparative cases show that the proposed approach can achieve approximately 10% higher economic benefits than the existing bi-level sizing strategies for FTPSS.

The epidemiologic studies investigating the association of birthweight and genetic factors with gastrointestinal cancer remain scarce. The study aimed to prospectively assess the interactions and joint effects of birthweight and genetic risk levels on gastrointestinal cancer incidence in adulthood. A total of 254,997 participants were included in the UK Biobank study. We used multivariate restricted cubic splines and Cox regression models to estimate the hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidential intervals (CI) for the association between birthweight and gastrointestinal cancer risk, then constructed a polygenic risk score (PRS) to assess its interaction and joint effect with birthweight on the development of gastrointestinal cancer. We documented 2512 incident cases during a median follow-up of 8.88 years. Compare with participants reporting a normal birthweight (2.5–4.5 kg), multivariable-adjusted HR of gastrointestinal cancer incidence for participants with high birthweight (≥4.5 kg) was 1.17 (95%CI: 1.01–1.36). Such association was remarkably observed in pancreatic cancer, with an HR of 1.82 (95%CI: 1.26–2.64). No statistically significant association was observed between low birth weight and gastrointestinal cancers. Participants with high birthweight and high PRS had the highest risk of gastrointestinal cancer (HR: 2.95, 95%CI: 2.19–3.96). Our findings highlight that high birthweight is associated with a higher incidence of gastrointestinal cancer, especially for pancreatic cancer. Objective: This study was designed to determine the efficacy of bumetanide tablets combined with valsartan for the treatment of elderly patients with chronic glomerulonephritis (CGN) and its effects on renal function and hemodynamics. Methods: Data from 122 elderly patients with CGN admitted to Pingdingshan First People’s Hospital from April 2019 to January 2020 were analyzed retrospectively. Among them, 65 patients treated with bumetanide tablets combined with valsartan were assigned to a study group and the other 57 patients treated with bumetanide tablets alone were assigned to a control group. The clinical efficacy, renal function, hemodynamics and inflammatory factors of the two groups were compared, and the incidence of adverse reactions during treatment was calculated. The risk factors of unfavorable prognosis were analyzed by multiple logistics regression. Results: The study group showed a significantly higher total response rate than the control group (P0.05). Before treatment, the examination results of renal function and hemodynamics of the two groups were not significantly different (P>0.05), and the results of both groups were improved after treatment (P

IntroductionParkinson’s disease (PD) is the second most prevalent neurodegenerative disorder. However, effective preventative or therapeutic agents for PD remain largely limited. Marigold Calendula officinalis L. (CoL) has been reported to possess a wide range of biological activities, but its neuroprotective activity including anti-neurodegenerative diseases is unclear. Here, we aim to investigate whether the extract of CoL (ECoL) has therapeutic activity on PD.MethodsWe identified the chemical composition of flavonoid, an important active ingredient in ECoL, by a targeted HPLC-Q-TOF-MS analysis. Subsequently, we evaluated the anti-PD effect of ECoL by using zebrafish PD model induced by 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP). After ECoL+MPTP co-treatments, the changes of dopaminergic neurons, neural vasculature, nervous system, and locomotor activity were examined, respectively. The expressions of genes related to neurodevelopment and autophagy were detected by RT-qPCR. Further, the interaction between autophagy regulators and ECoL flavonoids was predicted using molecular docking method.ResultsAs a result, 5 kinds of flavonoid were identified in ECoL, consisting of 121 flavones and flavonols, 32 flavanones, 22 isoflavonoids, 11 chalcones and dihydrochalcones, and 17 anthocyanins. ECoL significantly ameliorated the loss of dopaminergic neurons and neural vasculature, restored the injury of nervous system, and remarkably reversed the abnormal expressions of neurodevelopment-related genes. Besides, ECoL notably inhibited the locomotor impairment in MPTP-induced PD-like zebrafish. The underlying anti-PD effect of ECoL may be implicated in activating autophagy, as ECoL significantly upregulated the expressions of genes related to autophagy, which contributes to the degradation of α-synuclein aggregation and dysfunctional mitochondria. Molecular docking simulation showed the stable interaction between autophagy regulators (Pink, Ulk2, Atg7, and Lc3b) and 10 main compounds of flavonoid in ECoL, further affirming the involvement of autophagy activation by ECoL in anti-PD action.ConclusionOur results suggested that ECoL has the anti-PD effect, and ECoL might be a promising therapeutic candidate for PD treatment.

Knowledge Distillation (KD) is a widely-used technology to inherit information from cumbersome teacher models to compact student models, consequently realizing model compression and acceleration. Compared with image classification, object detection is a more complex task, and designing specific KD methods for object detection is non-trivial. In this work, we elaborately study the behaviour difference between the teacher and student detection models, and obtain two intriguing observations: First, the teacher and student rank their detected candidate boxes quite differently, which results in their precision discrepancy. Second, there is a considerable gap between the feature response differences and prediction differences between teacher and student, indicating that equally imitating all the feature maps of the teacher is the sub-optimal choice for improving the student's accuracy. Based on the two observations, we propose Rank Mimicking (RM) and Prediction-guided Feature Imitation (PFI) for distilling one-stage detectors, respectively. RM takes the rank of candidate boxes from teachers as a new form of knowledge to distill, which consistently outperforms the traditional soft label distillation. PFI attempts to correlate feature differences with prediction differences, making feature imitation directly help to improve the student's accuracy. On MS COCO and PASCAL VOC benchmarks, extensive experiments are conducted on various detectors with different backbones to validate the effectiveness of our method. Specifically, RetinaNet with ResNet50 achieves 40.4% mAP in MS COCO, which is 3.5% higher than its baseline, and also outperforms previous KD methods., Comment: Accepted by AAAI 2022

BACKGROUND: Colorectal leiomyosarcoma (LMS) is a rare colorectal malignancy accounting for approximately 1% of all colorectal malignancies with a poor prognosis and limited treatment options. Targeted therapies have been applied for breast cancer 2 (BRCA2) alterations, but their role remains to be explored in colorectal LMS. This case could provide clinical proof for the application of olaparib for LMS patients. CASE DESCRIPTION: Here, we present a case of colorectal LMS with BRCA2 alterations who was treated with olaparib and achieved progression-free survival (PFS) for 1 year. In August 2016, a 46-year-old female patient was admitted to hospital due to a mass in the left lower abdomen and was diagnosed with LMS of the sigmoid colon. After surgical resection, chemotherapy with ifosfamide or ifosfamide combined with pirarubicin was given and achieved stable disease (SD) until the disease progressed 1.5 years later. Afterwards, a multi-target tyrosine kinase inhibitor, anlotinib, was taken. Before the observation of lung and liver metastasis, the patient’s disease was stable for 1 year. BRCA2 mutation and rearrangement was revealed by next-generation sequencing (NGS), and the targeted therapy, olaparib, was given. Efficacy evaluation showed SD for 1 year, and no obvious toxic and side effects were observed. CONCLUSIONS: Our case suggested that NGS should be considered for further treatment of patients with colorectal LMS, and poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitors could be a feasible therapy for LMS patients with BRCA2 alterations.

The purpose of this study was to discuss the risks and benefits of medical student participation in healthcare in the context of COVID-19.Methods: An online cross-sectional survey was distributed to 300 Medical students undergoing standardized training program (STP) in China-Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University. The survey included questions about basic demographic characteristics, roles and mental state of interns during the pandemic, comments on the University’s management of medical students. Data were processed using SPSS 25.0 statistical analysis software, the comparison between two groups of data was performed using t-test; the non-normally distributed variables were analyzed using Mann–Whitney U-test, differences between groups were compared using chi-square test for analysis. p < 0.05 was considered statistically significant.Results: A total of 191 students completed the survey (response rate 63.67%). The epidemic had a significant psychological impact on students, but most of them believed that participation in clinical work under voluntary, precise protective measures and strict supervision were benefit for their future. Older, married, female, and salaried students are more willing to engage in pandemic-related activities. The biggest challenge of working under the pandemic focused on high working pressure and insufficient protection, the biggest harvest was getting knowledge and accumulating experience.Conclusion: Circumstances, cultures, outbreaks and strategies for coping with COVID-19 varied around the world. Medical students do not need to be overprotected, participation in pandemic work in an optimized system is acceptable and beneficial to their career plan. Person search is an integrated task of multiple sub-tasks such as foreground/background classification, bounding box regression and person re-identification. Therefore, person search is a typical multi-task learning problem, especially when solved in an end-to-end manner. Recently, some works enhance person search features by exploiting various auxiliary information, e.g. person joint keypoints, body part position, attributes, etc., which brings in more tasks and further complexifies a person search model. The inconsistent convergence rate of each task could potentially harm the model optimization. A straightforward solution is to manually assign different weights to different tasks, compensating for the diverse convergence rates. However, given the special case of person search, i.e. with a large number of tasks, it is impractical to weight the tasks manually. To this end, we propose a Grouped Adaptive Loss Weighting (GALW) method which adjusts the weight of each task automatically and dynamically. Specifically, we group tasks according to their convergence rates. Tasks within the same group share the same learnable weight, which is dynamically assigned by considering the loss uncertainty. Objectives: To evaluate the aspects of the objective physical environments of five residential care facilities (RCFs) for older adults and the residents’ subjective perceptions of these aspects. Background: The physical environment in RCFs impacts the health and comfort of the residents. However, the design standards for RCFs lack details which can result in insufficient living conditions. Methods: Through questionnaire surveys, older adults’ satisfaction on the degree of the light, acoustic, and thermal environment in the facilities was obtained. Indoor lighting condition was measured by an illuminance meter in lux, sound pressure level (SPL) with sound level meters in dBA, and temperature in °C with a temperature data logger, and an audiometer was used to test the hearing of the older adults. Results: A total of 480 questionnaires were obtained. Results show that (a) older adults need an appropriate light environment to avoid the negative impact of limited light, (b) poor acoustic environment could affect their mood and health, and (c) when the room temperature is within the range of 20–26 °C (68–78.8 °F), they feel most comfortable. When the appropriate temperature and humidity, balanced illumination, and SPL meet the needs of older adults, it can provide a more comfortable physical environment for them. Conclusion: Examining the interaction between the physical environmental factors that affect older adults in RCFs is important for the design of residential housing and provides more theoretical support for research on the influence of the physical environment on the quality of life of older adults.

Vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) create an vital platform for communication between vehicles, which can realize accident warning, auxiliary driving, road traffic information query, passenger communication and other applications. While providing convenient services for people, VANETs also bring some security risks. Security and privacy are the primary issues in the research of VANETs. Signcryption is an ideal way to transfer messages in a logical step in a secure and authenticated way. We design a Certificateless signcryption (CLSC) scheme to provide confidentiality, authentication, integrity, non-repudiation and user privacy preservation for the information transmitted between vehicle communication units. We demonstrate the confidentiality and unforgeability of the proposed scheme in the random oracle model. Moreover, compared with the existing CLSC schemes, ours realizes the perfect combination of efficiency, security and privacy, and it is particularly well adapted to the secure communication of vehicle networks.

It has already been observed that audio-visual embedding is more robust than uni-modality embedding for person verification. Here, we proposed a novel audio-visual strategy that considers aggregators from a fusion perspective. First, we introduced weight-enhanced attentive statistics pooling for the first time in face verification. We find that a strong correlation exists between modalities during pooling, so joint attentive pooling is proposed which contains cycle consistency to learn the implicit inter-frame weight. Finally, each modality is fused with a gated attention mechanism to gain robust audio-visual embedding. All the proposed models are trained on the VoxCeleb2 dev dataset and the best system obtains 0.18%, 0.27%, and 0.49% EER on three official trial lists of VoxCeleb1 respectively, which is to our knowledge the best-published results for person verification.

Background Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (iCCA) is a highly aggressive primary liver tumor with increasing incidence worldwide, dismal prognosis, and few therapeutic options. Mounting evidence underlines the role of the Hippo pathway in this disease; however, the molecular mechanisms whereby the Hippo cascade contributes to cholangiocarcinogenesis remain poorly defined. Methods We established novel iCCA mouse models via hydrodynamic transfection of an activated form of transcriptional coactivator with PDZ-binding motif (TAZ), a Hippo pathway downstream effector, either alone or combined with the myristoylated AKT (myr-AKT) protooncogene, in the mouse liver. Hematoxylin and eosin staining, immunohistochemistry, electron microscopy, and quantitative real-time RT-PCR were applied to characterize the models. In addition, in vitro cell line studies were conducted to address the growth-promoting roles of TAZ and its paralog YAP. Results Overexpression of TAZ in the mouse liver triggered iCCA development with very low incidence and long latency. In contrast, co-expression of TAZ and myr-AKT dramatically increased tumor frequency and accelerated cancer formation in mice, with 100% iCCA incidence and high tumor burden by 10 weeks post hydrodynamic injection. AKT/TAZ tumors faithfully recapitulated many of the histomolecular features of human iCCA. At the molecular level, the development of the cholangiocellular lesions depended on the binding of TAZ to TEAD transcription factors. In addition, inhibition of the Notch pathway did not hamper carcinogenesis but suppressed the cholangiocellular phenotype of AKT/TAZ tumors. Also, knockdown of YAP, the TAZ paralog, delayed cholangiocarcinogenesis in AKT/TAZ mice without affecting the tumor phenotype. Furthermore, human preinvasive and invasive iCCAs and mixed hepatocellular carcinoma/iCCA displayed widespread TAZ activation and downregulation of the mechanisms protecting TAZ from proteolysis. Conclusions Overall, the present data underscore the crucial role of TAZ in cholangiocarcinogenesis

Automatic speaker verification (ASV), one of the most important technology for biometric identification, has been widely adopted in security-critical applications. However, ASV is seriously vulnerable to recently emerged adversarial attacks, yet effective countermeasures against them are limited. In this paper, we adopt neural vocoders to spot adversarial samples for ASV. We use the neural vocoder to re-synthesize audio and find that the difference between the ASV scores for the original and re-synthesized audio is a good indicator for discrimination between genuine and adversarial samples. This effort is, to the best of our knowledge, among the first to pursue such a technical direction for detecting time-domain adversarial samples for ASV, and hence there is a lack of established baselines for comparison. Consequently, we implement the Griffin-Lim algorithm as the detection baseline. The proposed approach achieves effective detection performance that outperforms the baselines in all the settings. We also show that the neural vocoder adopted in the detection framework is dataset-independent. ObjectiveTo investigate the current management of thrombolysis related hemorrhagic transformation (HT) in real-world practice, and whether these treatments would reduce the risk of 3-month death and hematoma expansion after HT.MethodsA multicenter retrospective study was performed in three comprehensive stroke centers in China (West China Hospital, The First People’s Hospital of Ziyang, and Mianyang Central Hospital) between January 1st 2012 and December 31th 2020. Participants were patients diagnosed with HT after intravenous thrombolytics on brain computed tomography (CT) within 36 h after stroke onset. The treatment after thrombolysis related HT included aggressive therapy (procoagulant, neurosurgical treatment) and dehydration therapy (mannitol or glycerin and fructose). The primary clinical outcome was 3-month death. The primary radiographic outcome was hematoma expansion, defined as a 33% increase in the hematoma volume using the (A × B × C)/2 method on follow-up imaging.ResultsOf 538 patients with ischemic stroke receiving thrombolysis included during the study period, 94 patients (17.4%) were diagnosed with HT, 50% (47/94) of whom were symptomatic HT. The 3-month death was 31.5% (29/92), with two patients having been lost to follow up. A total of 68 patients (72.3%) had follow-up brain CT scans after HT detection for evaluating hematoma expansion, of whom 14.7% (10/68) had hematoma expansion. Among the 10 patients with hematoma expansion, 7 patients were from symptomatic HT group, and 3 patients were from the asymptomatic hematoma group. In regard to escalation in therapy, six patients received neurosurgical treatment and three patients had a fresh frozen plasma infusion. In addition, dehydration therapy was the most common management after HT diagnosis [87.2% (82 of 94)]. In the multivariable models, refusing any treatment after HT diagnosis was the sole factor associated with increased 3-month death (odds ratio, 13.6; 95% CI, 3.98–56.9) and hematoma expansion risk (odds ratio, 8.54; 95% CI, 1.33–70.1). In regard to the effects of aggressive therapy, a non-significant association of receiving hemostatic/neurosurgery therapy with a lower 3-month death and hematoma expansion risk was observed (all P > 0.05).ConclusionRefusing any treatment after HT detection had a significant trend of increasing 3-month death and hematoma expansion risk after HT. Our finding of hematoma expansion among patients with asymptomatic HT in non-western populations suggests an opportunity for intervention. Very few patients after thrombolysis related HT diagnosis received procoagulant or neurosurgical therapies. Large multicenter studies enrolling diverse populations are needed to examine the efficacy of these therapies on different HT subtypes.

Background: Radioresistance remains a significant obstacle in the treatment of prostate cancer (PCa). The mechanisms underlying the radioresistance in PCa remained to be further investigated. Methods: GSE53902 dataset was used in this study to identify radioresistance-related mRNAs. Protein-protein interaction (PPI) network was constructed based on STRING analysis. DAVID system was used to predict the potential roles of radioresistance-related mRNAs. Results: We screened and re-annotated the GSE53902 dataset to identify radioresistance-related mRNAs. A total of 445 up-regulated and 1036 down-regulated mRNAs were identified in radioresistance PCa cells. Three key PPI networks consisting of 81 proteins were further constructed in PCa. Bioinformatics analysis revealed that these genes were involved in regulating MAP kinase activity, response to hypoxia, regulation of the apoptotic process, mitotic nuclear division, and regulation of mRNA stability. Moreover, we observed that radioresistance-related mRNAs, such as PRC1, RAD54L, PIK3R3, ASB2, FBXO32, LPAR1, RNF14, and UBA7, were dysregulated and correlated to the survival time in PCa. Conclusion: We thought this study would be useful to understand the mechanisms underlying radioresistance of PCa and identify novel prognostic markers for PCa.

Given the ubiquitous nature of mobile devices and information and communication technologies (ICT), after-hours work-related interruptions (AHWI) occur anywhere and anytime in China. In the current study, an alternative person–environment (P-E) fit model of ICT-enabled AHWI, hereafter referred to as IAWI, that treats polychronic variables as moderated solutions are presented. A cross-sectional survey among 277 Chinese employees (average age: 32.04 years) was conducted in September 2022 and tested by PLS-structural equation modeling to validate our hypotheses. The results indicated that IAWI had a positive influence on employees’ innovative job performance and in-role job performance (β = 0.139, p < 0.05; β = 0.200, p < 0.01; β = 0.298, p < 0.001). Moreover, among employees with higher levels of polychronicity, the heightened effects of IAWI on innovative job performance were increased (β = 0.112, p < 0.05). This study offers implications for employees: under IAWI situations, they could search for a person–environment (P-E) that is fit to buffer the negative aspects of IAWI, consequently increasing their innovative job performance and in-role job performance. Future research could extend beyond this framework to explore employees’ IAWI and job performance balance.

We compared the demographic structure and reproductive output of the critically endangered tree Pterospermum kingtungense population in different size forest fragments (5-ha and 15-ha) and continuous forests in southwestern China. Specifically, we tried to answer the following questions: (1) are habitat fragmentations affecting the population demographic structure? (2) Do the plant reproductive outputs vary in the different size forest fragments compared with continuous forests? Within each of the three habitats, three permanent demographic plot of 50 m × 100 m in size were established and surveyed. We found that the density of P. kingtungense is relatively higher in the 15-ha fragment and continuous forests than in the 5-ha forest fragment, but the difference is not significant in the three habitats. Large trees (dbh ≥ 15 cm) were significantly higher in continuous and 15-ha forest fragments than that of the 5-ha forest fragment, whereas no seedlings occurred in the 5-ha forest fragment. The flowering proportion of the P. kingtungense populations was also lower in the 5-ha fragments than that of 15-ha fragment and continuous forests. During the investigation, no flowering occurred in the 5-ha forest fragments for two consecutive years, indicating that habitat fragmentation has an effect on the reproduction of the population. Due to the self-compatible of the species, the fruit and seed settings of the two types of forest fragment were similar to that of the continuous forests. Our findings showed an alteration of basic underlying demographic properties due to forest fragmentation, which may influence the population dynamic of P. kingtungense.

Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) type VI causative gene SERPINF1, encodes a member of the serpin family that does not display the serine protease inhibitory activity shown by many of the other serpin proteins. The encoded protein (pigment epithelium-derived factor, PEDF) has anti-tumor, anti-angiogenesis, anti-inflammation, nutrition and nerve protection functions, and participates in fat metabolism. In this paper, a series of bioinformatics analyses were conducted based on the regulation of SERPINF1 in the human. Pan-cancer analysis of SERPINF1 revealed it to play a role in the prognosis of tumors, especially in KIRC, and that high expression of SERPINF1 leads to a poor prognosis of the disease, the occurrence of which is largely related to the high expression of SERPINF1 leading to immune infiltration of cancer associated fibroblasts. Mutation analysis found that SERPINF1 had eight identical amino acids alterations sites with different in both cancer and OI patients. which hints the possible relationship between genotype and phenotype.

However, the aggregator that used to generate a single utterance representation from each frame does not seem to be well explored. In this article, we proposed an audio-visual network that considers aggregator from a fusion perspective. We introduced improved attentive statistics pooling for the first time in face verification. Then we find that strong correlation exists between modalities during pooling, so joint attentive pooling is proposed which contains cycle consistency to learn the implicit inter-frame weight. Finally, fuse the modality with a gated attention mechanism. All the proposed models are trained on the VoxCeleb2 dev dataset and the best system obtains 0.18\%, 0.27\%, and 0.49\% EER on three official trail lists of VoxCeleb1 respectively, which is to our knowledge the best-published results for person verification. As an analysis, visualization maps are generated to explain how this system interact between modalities.

The Mean-Teacher (MT) scheme is widely adopted in semi-supervised object detection (SSOD). In MT, the sparse pseudo labels, offered by the final predictions of the teacher (e.g., after Non Maximum Suppression (NMS) post-processing), are adopted for the dense supervision for the student via hand-crafted label assignment. However, the sparse-to-dense paradigm complicates the pipeline of SSOD, and simultaneously neglects the powerful direct, dense teacher supervision. In this paper, we attempt to directly leverage the dense guidance of teacher to supervise student training, i.e., the dense-to-dense paradigm. Specifically, we propose the Inverse NMS Clustering (INC) and Rank Matching (RM) to instantiate the dense supervision, without the widely used, conventional sparse pseudo labels. INC leads the student to group candidate boxes into clusters in NMS as the teacher does, which is implemented by learning grouping information revealed in NMS procedure of the teacher. After obtaining the same grouping scheme as the teacher via INC, the student further imitates the rank distribution of the teacher over clustered candidates through Rank Matching. With the proposed INC and RM, we integrate Dense Teacher Guidance into Semi-Supervised Object Detection (termed DTG-SSOD), successfully abandoning sparse pseudo labels and enabling more informative learning on unlabeled data. On COCO benchmark, our DTG-SSOD achieves state-of-the-art performance under various labelling ratios. In this paper, we delve into two key techniques in Semi-Supervised Object Detection (SSOD), namely pseudo labeling and consistency training. We observe that these two techniques currently neglect some important properties of object detection, hindering efficient learning on unlabeled data. Specifically, for pseudo labeling, existing works only focus on the classification score yet fail to guarantee the localization precision of pseudo boxes; For consistency training, the widely adopted random-resize training only considers the label-level consistency but misses the feature-level one, which also plays an important role in ensuring the scale invariance. To address the problems incurred by noisy pseudo boxes, we design Noisy Pseudo box Learning (NPL) that includes Prediction-guided Label Assignment (PLA) and Positive-proposal Consistency Voting (PCV). PLA relies on model predictions to assign labels and makes it robust to even coarse pseudo boxes; while PCV leverages the regression consistency of positive proposals to reflect the localization quality of pseudo boxes. Furthermore, in consistency training, we propose Multi-view Scale-invariant Learning (MSL) that includes mechanisms of both label- and feature-level consistency, where feature consistency is achieved by aligning shifted feature pyramids between two images with identical content but varied scales. On COCO benchmark, our method, termed PSEudo labeling and COnsistency training (PseCo), outperforms the SOTA (Soft Teacher) by 2.0, 1.8, 2.0 points under 1%, 5%, and 10% labelling ratios, respectively. It also significantly improves the learning efficiency for SSOD, e.g., PseCo halves the training time of the SOTA approach but achieves even better performance. This study aimed to investigate whether MetS could predict the prognosis in ischemic stroke patients after endovascular thrombectomy (EVT).Methods: Between January 2016 and September 2019, patients treated with EVT due to large vessel occlusions in anterior circulation were prospectively recruited. MetS was defined using the International Diabetes Federation criteria after admission. The primary outcome was a 3-month poor outcome (modified Rankin scale score of 3– 6). Secondary outcomes included symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH) and mortality at 3 months. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to assess the relationship between MetS and clinical outcomes.Results: A total of 248 patients were enrolled (mean age, 66.7 years; 37.5% female) and 114 (46.0%) met with the MetS criteria. The median National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale score was 15.0. There were 131 (52.8%) patients achieving the poor outcome at 3 months, among which 26 (10.5%) patients developed sICH. The mortality at 3 months was 19.0% (47/248). In multivariable analysis, MetS was significantly correlated to poor outcome (odds ratio [OR], 2.48; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.29– 4.78, P = 0.014). The risk for poor outcome was positively associated with the increased number of MetS components (OR 1.78; 95% CI 1.39– 2.35, P = 0.001). No significant findings were found in the association of MetS with sICH and mortality.Conclusion: Our data demonstrated that MetS was associated with poor prognosis in acute ischemic patients treated with EVT.Keywords: metabolic syndrome, ischemic stroke, endovascular thrombectomy, prognosis

Paeonia lutea is a wild peony (an endangered flowering plant species) found in China. Seed abortion (endosperm and embryo development failure) is linked to several endangered plant species. Therefore, it is of interest to complete a comparative analysis of transcriptome between the normal active seeds (Population A) and the endangered abortion seeds (Population H). Data from GO assignments of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) shows that "metabolic process", "binding", "cellular process", "catalytic activity", "cell" and "cell part" are commonly prevalent in these popuations. DEGs between the populations are found to be connected with metabolic pathways, biosynthesis of secondary metabolites, purine metabolism and ribosome. We used quantitative RT-PCR to validate 16 DEGs associated with these populations. It is found that histone genes and proline-rich extensin genes are predominant in the common groups. Histone genes (H2A, H2B, H3, H4 and linker histone H1) show 3 to 4 folds log2FC higher expession in population A than in population H in stage I unlike in stage II and III. Increased activity of proline-rich extensin genes in population A than in population H corresponding to seed abortion in the later population is implied. These preliminary data from the transcriptome analysis of the wild type plant species Paeonia lutea provide valuable insights on seed abortion.

Sterility plays an important role in plant adaptation and evolution and has contributed to the development of high yielding crop hybrids. We used the widely targeted metabolomics profiling to survey the metabolites and biological pathways associated with male sterility in Prunus mira by comparing flowers from fertile and sterile trees. Male sterile flowers displayed abnormal stamen, uncolored anthers, and distorted and shrunken pollen grains with an apparent lack of turgidity. We report 566 metabolites in six flower samples and 140 differentially accumulated metabolites (DAMs) between both flower types. Most of the DAMs belong to the phenyl propanoid biosynthesis pathway, particularly flavonoid, flavone and flavonol biosynthesis pathways, implying that alterations in these key pathways link to male sterility in P. mira. The known link between low levels of flavonoid metabolites, weak expression levels of several structural genes from the phenyl propanoid biosynthesis pathway and hyper accumulation of reactive oxygen species were highlighted for understanding the underlying mechanism leading to the abnormal or aborted pollen grains observed in the sterile flowers. Data on the molecular mechanism of male sterility in Prunus mira will facilitate further in-depth investigations on this important agronomic and ecological trait.

Background Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is the most common viral pathogen associated with acute lower respiratory infections (ALRIs), with significant childhood morbidity and mortality worldwide. Estimates reporting RSV-associated ALRI (RSV-ALRI) severity in children with congenital heart disease (CHD) are lacking, thus warranting the need to summarize the available data. We identified relevant studies to summarize the findings and conducted a meta-analysis of available data on RSV-associated ALRI hospitalizations in children aged Methods We conducted a systematic search of existing relevant literature and identified studies reporting hospitalization of children aged Results We included 18 studies that met our strict eligibility criteria. As an effective algorithm for solving complex optimization problems, artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm has shown to be competitive, but the same as other population-based algorithms, it is poor at balancing the abilities of global searching in the whole solution space (named as exploration) and quick searching in local solution space which is defined as exploitation. For improving the performance of ABC, an adaptive group collaborative ABC (AgABC) algorithm is introduced where the population in different phases is divided to specific groups and different search strategies with different abilities are assigned to the members in groups, and the member or strategy which obtains the best solution will be employed for further searching. Experimental results on benchmark functions show that the proposed algorithm with dynamic mechanism is superior to other algorithms in searching accuracy and stability. Furthermore, numerical experiments show that the proposed method can generate the optimal solution for the complex scheduling problem.

Graphical Abstract The cyclic signal amplification technology has been widely applied for the ultrasensitive detection of many important biomolecules, such as nucleic acids, proteins, enzymes, adenosine triphosphate (ATP), metal ions, exosome, etc. Due to their low content in the complex biological samples, traditional detection methods are insufficient to satisfy the requirements for monitoring those biomolecules. Therefore, effective and sensitive biosensors based on cyclic signal amplification technology are of great significance for the quick and simple diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Fluorescent biosensor based on cyclic signal amplification technology has become a research hotspot due to its simple operation, low cost, short time, high sensitivity and high specificity. This paper introduces several cyclic amplification methods, such as rolling circle amplification (RCA), strand displacement reactions (SDR) and enzyme-assisted amplification (EAA), and summarizes the research progress of using this technology in the detection of different biomolecules in recent years, in order to provide help for the research of more efficient and sensitive detection methods. Background Since the widespread adoption of palivizumab prophylaxis in Europe, there have been a number of clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) published for the prevention of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection in children. The aim of this systematic review was to identify CPGs for the prevention of RSV infection across Europe. Methods We performed a systematic literature search and contacted European influenza and respiratory virus networks and public health institutions, to identify national CPGs for the prevention of RSV infection. The Reporting Items for practice Guidelines in Healthcare (RIGHT) Statement checklist was applied to extract data and review the quality of reporting. Results A total of 20 national CPGs were identified, all published between 2000 and 2018. The greatest discrepancy between guidelines was the recommendations for palivizumab prophylaxis for premature infants, with recommendations varying by gestational age. All guidelines recommended or considered the use of palivizumab in infants with bronchopulmonary dysplasia, 85% (n = 17) in children with congenital heart disease (CHD), and 60% (n = 12) in children with severe combined immunodeficiency. Conclusions We recommend that agencies publishing RSV prevention guidelines adopt the RIGHT reporting requirements when updating these guidelines to improve the presentation of the evidence-base for decisions.
