The importance given to oleaginous crops is mainly due to the oils provided by their seeds. Currently, the oilseed sector is distinguished by cultivation of soybean, rapeseed and sunflower on large-scale compared to other species. Nevertheless, climatic conditions and genetic variability determine greatly the oil content and its physicochemical characterization. Consequently, the climatic change and population explosion will impose the necessity to exploit other species to fill a shortage of oil production. This investigation remains a priority for scientists and producers through the introduction of alternative species that have a tolerance to abiotic stresses in different regions in the world. Among them, safflower, as an Asteraceae, offers appreciable agro-biochemical aptitudes and could be as a strategic oilseed crop for the nature of its produced oil and its adaptation to limiting environmental conditions. Many studies have shown previously the benefits of safflower oil in industry, pharmaceutical and cosmetic uses. Another particularity of safflower is also justified by the use of its by-products (meal, leaves, flowers) in different fields. These characteristics allow to safflower a character to being a primordial link in any biorefinery program of which scientific approach is essentially based on use of the all green entity with zero waste., L’importance apportée aux cultures oléagineuses est due principalement aux huiles fournies par leurs graines. Actuellement, la filière oléagineuse se distingue par la culture sur grande échelle du soja, colza et du tournesol par rapport aux autres espèces. Néanmoins, les conditions climatiques ainsi que la variabilité génétique déterminent grandement la teneur et la caractérisation physicochimiques de ces huiles. Par conséquent, le changement climatique et l’explosion démographique imposeront la nécessité d’exploiter d’autres espèces afin de combler tout un déficit de production d’huile. Cette investigation demeure une priorité pour les scientifiques et les producteurs par l’introduction des espèces alternatives ayant une tolérance aux stress abiotiques dans différentes régions du monde. Parmi eux, la culture de carthame, plante de la famille des Astéracées, offre des aptitudes agro-biochimiques appréciables et pourrait être une culture oléagineuse stratégique grâce à la nature de son huile alimentaire produite et son adaptation aux conditions environnementales limitantes. Nombreuses études ultérieures ont montré les atouts de l’huile de carthame dans l‘industrie, les utilisations pharmaceutiques et cosmétiques. Une autre particularité de carthame se justifie aussi par l’utilisation de ses sous-produits (tourteau, feuilles, fleurs) dans différents domaines. Ces caractéristiques lui accordent un caractère d’être un anneau primordial dans tout programme de bioraffinage dont l’approche scientifique repose essentiellement sur l‘utilisation de l’ensemble de l’entité verte avec zéro déchet. This study aims to compare the yield and lipid composition of milk in dairy cows depending on the nature of distributed feed supply as concentrate. The Impact of feed supply was evaluated by introduction of maize and soya meal (C1), brewer’s spent grains (C2) and distiller’s dried grains with solubles (C3) into feed regime of Holstein and Montbeliarde dairy cows. Seventy-two Holstein and Montbeliarde dairy cows were followed, in real farming conditions, for a period of 14 weeks. The introduction of cereals stimulated milk production and induced a signifi cant change in its fatty acid composition. C2 and C3 diets showed a rise in unsaturated fatty acids in milk regardless of the cow breed, while diet C1 had no signifi cant effect on milk fat composition. The incorporation of concentrate with higher lipid content in the diet of dairy cows increases milk production and modifi es milk fat quality. International audience; The structures of bioactive compounds present in Tussilago farfara (T. farfara) leaves (L) and roots (R), to our knowledge, are not elucidated in the literature. This study investigated the composition of bioactive compounds and their antioxidant activity (AA) extracted from L and R of T. farfara aromatic plant collected in Lithuania (LT) and France (FR). Methods: Three in vitro antioxidant methods (DPPH, ABTS and FRAP method) were used to evaluate radical scavenging activity (RSA) of total phenolic compounds (TPC), flavonoids and flavonols compounds. Modern chromatographic and spectrometric analysis techniques were used; On-line LC-MS technique was used to identify bioactive compounds in L and R extracts, while On-line HPLC-UV-DPPH• was used to evaluate the RSC of each bioactive. Results: Extracts contain high amount of TPC with very good RSC. Eight bioactive compounds were identified in T. farfara L and R extracts, two of them (quercetin-pentoside and kaempferol-glucoside) previously not reported in this plant. Also, results showed that dicaffeoylquinic acids and quercetin pentoside were the major radical scavengers in L and R extracts. Conclusion: The present study provides new information about the chemical composition, bioactive structures and RSC of T. farfara L and R extracts from two geographical origins (Lithuania and France). This study demonstrate that T. farfara leaves and roots is a resource of bioactives which can reduces the risk of diseases and its effects which correlated with the antioxidant compounds.

International audience; Residues obtained after isolating essential oil very often constitute more than 99% of the total raw material. Such residues are poorly exploited although they may represent a potential sustainable source for valuable natural products. This study investigated antioxidant properties and the composition of bioactive compounds (total phenolics, flavonoids, flavonols) present in the deodorized extracts of Tussilago farfara flowers and stems collected in Lithuania and South of France, which were isolated with acetone, methanol or ethanol. Online HPLC/UV/DPPH scavenging assay showed that among 8 identified by HPLC/MS compounds, dicaffeoylquinic acids and quercetin pentoside were the major radical scavengers in the T. farfara extracts.

This study aims to evaluate total phenolic content (TPC) and in vitro radical scavenging activity (RSA) of Satureja myrtifolia collected from Lebanon. TPCs of Satureja myrtifolia were extracted by two polar solvents, namely methanol and water and subsequently determined spectrophotometrically. The RSA of both crude extracts were evaluated in vitro by 2,2'-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical scavenging activity assay. According to our findings, the obtained extracts exhibit relatively high levels of phenolic compounds which range from 343.12 ± 7.53 to 441.09 ± 10.70 mg GAE g-1 in terms of dry weight (DW) depending on the solvent used. Moreover, both extracts exerted hydrogen-donating abilities in the presence of DDPH stable radical. However, the aqueous extract from the aerial parts of S. myrtifolia showed higher RSA capability. This study revealed that S. myrtifolia is a potential resource of biological active compounds which can reduce the risk of diseases and their noxious effects correlating with the antioxidant compounds.

The chemical composition of hydrodistilled EO of T. farfara flowers and stems was determined by GC and GC/MS techniques. Comparatively, quantitative and qualitative differences were observed in EO composition from both selected origins. The EO yields were 0.07 ± 0.01% and 0.09 ± 0.00% from Lithuanian and French origin. In total, 37 components were identified in Lithuanian and French oils. The major constituent in Lithuanian oil was n-tricosane (21.7 ± 0.1%) while in French oil it was 1-nonene (34.1 ± 0.00%).

Agricultural and industrial residues obtainedafter isolating essential oil very often constitute more than 99% of the raw material and represent a potential natural source for antioxidants and other valuable substances; however, nowadays they are poorly exploited. For the first time, this study investigated antioxidant properties and bioactive compounds in the deodorized residue extracts of Myrrhis odorataleaves collected in Lithuania and South of France in order to evaluate the potential of by-products obtained after essential oil isolation as a source for antioxidants. The extracts isolated with polar solvents were strong antioxidants, mainly due to the presence of kaempferol-7-o-glucoside and cynarin, which were reported in Myrrhis odoratafor the first time. Deodorized residues of mature leaves of Myrrhis odoratawere valued as an antioxidants bioresource for the first time.

Well-crystallized samples of the phyllosilicate magadiite have been synthesized in their sodic form, both purely silicic and with an Al/Si ratio of 30. They have been delaminated by a procedure consisting of CTMA+ swelling in the presence of TPAOH, sonication, and calcination at 700°C to remove the organics, and characterized by XRD, 27Al and 29Si NMR, IR, TEM and SEM, and N2 physisorption after the successive steps of this procedure. The final delaminated solids, consisting of crumpled sheets, exhibit a high (500-510 m2/g), mostly external surface area. While 29Si NMR indicated some loss of structural order, IR suggested the preservation of a typical feature of the magadiite sheets, namely 5-membered (TO4) rings. The acidity of the delaminated Al-containing material was evaluated by low-temperature CO adsorption. This technique revealed strong Brönsted acidic centers, whose behavior was similar to that of Si-OH-Al bridging hydroxyls in pentasil zeolites. Finally, the catalytic activity was evaluated for the test reaction of cumene cracking, and shown to be much higher than that of a reference silica alumina. These results make delaminated magadiite an attractive candidate for use as a novel acid catalyst or catalytic support.
