Abstracat : Chronic total occlusion (CTO) percutaneous coronary interventions (PCIs) can be lengthy procedures. We sought to investigate the effect of procedural time on CTO PCI outcomes. We examined the procedural time required for the various steps of CTO PCI in 6,442 CTO PCIs at 40 US and non-US centers between 2012 and 2022. The mean and median procedure times were 129 § 76 and 112 minutes, respectively, with no significant change over time. Pitahaya (Hylocereus spp.) has been placed successfully in the global fruit market due to its exotic appearance and pleasant flavor; however, its short postharvest life has limited its marketing in national and international markets. The postharvest life and final quality of fruits depend on the state of maturity in which the fruit is harvested, as well on the storage conditions. The aim of this study was to assess the postharvest behavior of pitahaya fruits (H. ocamponis) harvested during two states of maturity (pre-consumer and consumption maturity), stored at 6 ± 1°C and 22 ± 3 °C for 24 days. The color, firmness, epicarp thickness, weight loss, soluble solids, total soluble sugars, betalains, phenolic compounds and antioxidant activity showed significant changes during the storage period. The preserved fruits at room temperature maintained their firmness and color of the epicarp, content of soluble solids, soluble sugars and betalains during 9 days of storage, but from the 16th day, they showed rottenness and degradation of epicarp betalains. In contrast, the stored fruits in refrigeration presented a lower weight loss, greater firmness, and epicarp thickness, reaching 24 days of shelf life. The antioxidant activity was greater in the pulp of the stored fruits at 22 °C, due to an apparent higher betalains concentration associated with greater water loss in the fruit.

A safe and effective dengue vaccine is not ready yet; therefore, dengue prevention is necessary to control the spread of this infection. Lowering dengue disease depends on controlling mosquitoes by reducing Aedes habitats counting with community participation. We studied community participation on habitat reduction for immature stages of Aedes aegypti in two urban communities of the Aragua State from May 2009 to November 2018. The sample consisted of 100 houses of one community and 400 houses of the other. Fisher´s exact test was used to compare the proportions of positive houses or containers through the study period. House index, container index, and Breteau Index were calculated. The data were analyzed using Minitab 20.4 statistical software. The research team initiated the approach to the communities by contacting some of their natural leaders in January 2009. The methodological strategies included workshops, lectures, seminars, document and video reviews, practices, discussions, and knowledge sharing within and with the community. After six months of the intervention, a significant reduction in the Aedes larval indices was found in both communities and lasted for the entire study period. The intervention increased public consciousness and participation in dengue vector control measures in residential areas, and this behavior change was sustainable over time.

The impact of a previous failure on procedural techniques and outcomes of chronic total occlusion (CTO) percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) has received limited study. We examined the clinical and angiographic characteristics and procedural outcomes of 9,393 patients who underwent 9,560 CTO PCIs at 42 United States and non-United States centers between 2012 and 2022. A total of 1,904 CTO lesions (20%) had a previous failed PCI attempt. Patients who underwent reattempt CTO PCI were more likely to have a family history of coronary artery disease (37% vs 31%, p 30 CTO PCIs annually were more likely to achieve technical success in patients with previous failure. In conclusion, a previous failed CTO PCI attempt was associated with higher lesion complexity, longer procedure time, and lower technical success; however, the association with lower technical success did not remain significant in multivariable analysis.

Objectives. To assess changes in minor consent laws for sexually transmitted infection (STI) and HIV testing, treatment, and prevention services in all 50 US states and the District of Columbia from 1900 to 2021. Methods. We coded laws into minor consent for (1) health care generally; (2) STI testing, treatment, and prevention; (3) HIV testing, treatment, and prevention; and (4) pre- or postexposure prophylaxis for HIV prevention. We also coded confidentiality protections and required conditions (e.g., threshold clinician judgments). Results. The largest increase in states allowing minors to consent to STI services occurred during the 1960s and 1970s. By 2021, minors could consent independently to STI and HIV testing and treatment in all 50 states plus DC, STI prevention services in 32 jurisdictions, and HIV prevention services in 33 jurisdictions. Confidentiality protections for minors are rare. Prerequisites are common. Conclusions. Although the number of states allowing minors to consent independently to STI and HIV services has increased considerably, these laws have substantial limitations, including high complexity, prerequisites requiring clinician judgments, and neglect of confidentiality concerns. The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic created a sudden shift in the social lives of youth with important negative impacts on mental health. The current article aims to understand how the pandemic may have differentially impacted the mental health of adolescents and young adults with recent (1 year or less) and past (1 year) exposure to self-directed violence (SDV).Data were collected online from 990 youth and young adults, aged 13-23 years between November 27, 2020 and December 11, 2020.Participants who had recently been exposed to SDV reported being more impacted by the pandemic and had poorer mental health indicators. Participants with past SDV exposure who engaged in a high number of prosocial activities (e.g., talking with friends) were less likely to report depressive symptoms (β = -.13,Findings highlight that the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the mental health of young people are compounded by exposure to mental health concerns of people in their network. Multivessel coronary artery disease (CAD) is associated with worse outcomes across the spectrum of clinical presentations. The prognostic implications of completeness of revascularization in CAD patients, especially those with chronic coronary syndromes (CCS), remain highly debated. This is largely due to the use of non-standardized definitions for complete revascularization (CR) and incomplete revascularization (ICR) within previously published studies, lack of randomized clinical data, varying revascularization methods and heterogenous study populations. In particular, the utility and effectiveness of PCI-mediated CR for CCS remains unknown. In this review, we discuss the various definitions used for CR vs. ICR, highlight the rationale for pursuing CR and summarise the current literature regarding the effects of PCI-mediated CR on clinical outcomes in patients with CCS.

El Queso de Prensa, también llamado Costeño es elaborado artesanalmente a partir de leche cruda de vaca en la región de la Costa Chica del estado de Guerrero. Con el fin de conocer las características de los quesos artesanales mexicanos, el objetivo de esta investigación fue analizar los cambios en el recuento de bacterias mesófilas aerobias (BMA), microorganismos coliformes totales (CT), bacterias ácido lácticas (BAL) y estafilococos coagulasa positivos (ECP), durante la maduración (5, 30, 60 y 90 días) de quesos de prensa, elaborados por cuatro diferentes queserías (A, B, C y D) de Cuajinicuilapa, Guerrero, México. Una porción (25 g) de cada muestra de queso se homogeneizó con diluyente de peptona (225 ml) y se prepararon diluciones desde 10 -1 a 10 -6 con las que se sembraron placas 3M TM PetrifilmTM. Después de incubar a diferentes condiciones, según el tipo de microorganismo, se hicieron recuentos de BMA, CT, BAL y ECP. Los resultados mostraron que conforme avanzó el tiempo de maduración del Queso de Prensa, la carga microbiana disminuyó: BMA de 4 a 2, CT de 6 a 3, BAL de 6 a 2 y ECP de 5 a 2 log10 UFC g-1. Los cambios en los recuentos de los grupos bacterianos estudiados, pueden ser atribuidos a las transiciones fisicoquímicas y microbiológicas propias de la maduración del queso y a las características de la microbiota presente en cada una de las queserías. Los resultados de esta investigación aportan elementos para la caracterización microbiana de los quesos artesanales mexicanos.

La Glucosa Oxidasa (GOX) se ha utilizado ampliamente como aditivo alimentario debido a sus propiedades, sin embargo, no hay literatura científica que reporten sobre sus efectos en la conservación de bebidas preparadas a partir de frutas. El objetivo de esta investigación fue evaluar el potencial conservante de un extracto de la GOX, para evitar el oscurecimiento en un jugo de manzana natural y favorecer la producción de peróxido de hidrógeno como antimicrobiano en un néctar de manzana. En el jugo se aplicaron cuatro tratamientos para determinar la actividad antioxidante de la GOX; el primero con una concentración de enzima de 64,5 mg/mL, el segundo con 129 mg/mL de la solución enzimática, el tercero con ácido ascórbico (64,5 mg/mL) y un cuarto sin aditivo (control) y luego se determinó el porcentaje de inhibición. En el caso del néctar natural pasteurizado, sin aditivos, se condujo un experimento bajo un arreglo factorial de dos concentraciones de GOX (64,5mg/L y 129mg/L) y dos temperaturas (4°C y 37°C), evaluado en cuatro tiempos de almacenamiento (0, 24, 48 y 72 horas), y se determinó el potencial oxidante de la GOX a través de la producción de H2O2. Se evidenció un efecto inhibitorio de la GOX sobre el oscurecimiento enzimático en el jugo de manzana. Además, se confirmó el efecto estadísticamente significativo entre la concentración de GOX y el tiempo de incubación sobre la producción de peróxido de hidrógeno en el néctar, corroborando el potencial como conservante de la enzima.

The purpose of this study was to conduct formative research to inform the development of an app, that would simultaneously engage youth and adults, to prevent dating and sexual violence (DSV) and alcohol use (AU). Participants (N = 56) were high school students, parents/guardians, and professionals (e.g., school personnel) from across the United States who participated in online focus groups. Overall, participants had positive perceptions of the utility, helpfulness, and effectiveness of an app to prevent DSV and AU among high school students. Participants provided in depth information about both the content (e.g., local rates of DSV and AU) and features (e.g., skills-based, inclusion of incentives, help button) that the app should include. These preliminary data suggest that future research to develop and pilot an app for both youth and adults to prevent DSV and AU among high school students is warranted.

Chronic total occlusions are considered the most complex coronary lesion in interventional cardiology. The absence of visible lumen on angiography obscures the vessel course and makes vessel wiring unlikely with conventional techniques. Often a source of severe ischemia, chronic occlusions are also markers of advanced atherosclerosis that brings other complex features including lesion length, bifurcations, calcification, adverse vessel remodelling, distal disease, and anatomic distortion from previous bypass grafting. Often advanced atherosclerosis is associated with patient characteristics like left ventricular dysfunction, previous coronary bypass surgery, or multivessel disease that increase procedural demands and hazards. To accommodate these challenges new techniques and dedicated technologies have been developed. When applied to appropriate patients, these advances have improved procedural success, safety, and outcomes. Our aim is to provide the general cardiologist with an overview of these advances that can serve as a basis for counselling patients considered for revascularization.

El Derecho internacional privado es una rama del ordenamiento jurídico que cada día tiene mayor impacto en la práctica. Las fuentes de esta disciplina son múltiples: convenios internacionales –multilaterales y bilaterales-, reglamentos de la Unión Europea y leyes internas de cada Estado. El proceso de aplicación de estas normas, con unas técnica y métodos propios, se ha vuelto cada día más complejo. Con este panorama, los tribunales españoles siguen cometiendo errores básicos que pudieran entenderse en una época de poco tráfico jurídico internacional, pero no hoy en día. El presente artículo contiene una crítica a la labor de los tribunales españoles en la aplicación de las normas que regulan los diversos sectores del Derecho internacional privado: competencia judicial internacional, ley aplicable y reconocimiento y ejecución de decisiones.

To quantify the relative odds of self-reported seriously violent behavior in adolescence and young adulthood given one's self-reported violent media diet in childhood.Baseline data were collected nationally online from 1,586 youth 10-15 years of age in 2006. Follow-up data were collected in 2010-2011 and 2016. Children reported the amount of music, video games, television, websites with real people, and cartoons that depicted "physical fighting, hurting, shooting, or killing." Seriously violent behavior was assessed 5 and 10 years later.887 adolescents completed the survey at baseline and 5-year follow-up. The relative odds of reporting seriously violent behavior over time were 2.45-fold higher (p.001) with each incremental increase in one's baseline violent media diet. After adjusting for other potentially influential characteristics, results persisted (aOR = 1.70, p = .01). The relative odds also were elevated for those frequently exposed to violence in music (aOR = 3.28, p = .03), television (aOR = 3.51, p.001), and video games (aOR = 3.27, p = .02). 760 young adults completed measures at baseline and 10-year follow-up. The relative odds of seriously violent behavior increased 2.18-fold (p = .001) with each incremental increase in one's baseline violent media diet. After adjusting for other factors, the association persisted (aOR = 1.72, p = .03). Frequent exposure to violence in video games (aOR = 3.28, p = .03) and television (aOR = 3.14, p = .02) also were implicated.Exposure to violent media in childhood may be one modifiable influence on seriously violent behavior in adolescence and adulthood, even for those who have other risk factors.

Thrombolysis is currently reserved for ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients who cannot access timely percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). In case of failed thrombolysis, rescue PCI is a viable option. Substantial data concerning the outcomes in terms of infarct size and myocardial function after rescue PCI are lacking.Forty patients treated with rescue PCI underwent serial contrast-enhanced cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) at 1 week, 3 months and 6 months from the index STEMI. Angiographic images were reviewed to assess Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction (TIMI) blood flow and TIMI Myocardial Blush Grade (TMBG) in the infarct related artery after PCI.Patients with lower TMBG at the end of procedure, but not patients with worse TIMI flow, had lower left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and higher volume of late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) on baseline CMR (44 ± 13% vs 52 ± 9%, p = 0.026, and 41 ± 21 ml vs 26 ± 12, p = 0.030, respectively). Patients with lower TMBG remained with significantly lower LVEF at 6 months follow up (48 ± 16% vs 59 ± 14, p = 0.049).TMBG after rescue PCI is associated with reduced LVEF and increased LGE burden. As TMBG is a known marker of microvascular damage after STEMI, novel strategies aimed at improving microvascular function in the setting of rescue PCI are needed to improve the outcomes in this patient population.

El objetivo de este estudio fue explorar la asociación entre perfil de personalidad, droga de impacto y estatus de egreso en pacientes con trastornos por uso de sustancias. El desistimiento del tratamiento de las adicciones es alto, por lo que es relevante dar seguimiento de las deserciones para conocer sus causas. Se revisaron 300 expedientes clínicos de pacientes internados en un centro de rehabilitación y, a partir del cuestionario de evaluación de variables sociodemográficas, psicológicas y de salud, se elaboró una base de datos con las variables de interés. Para el análisis se utilizó el procedimiento de análisis de correspondencias. Entre los principales hallazgos se encontró que el perfil esquizoide presentó mayor frecuencia de consumo de alcohol, mientras que el perfil antisocial y esquizotípico presentó mayor frecuencia de consumo de marihuana. A seis meses del egreso, los pacientes con perfil paranoide y narcisista tuvieron mayor frecuencia de abstinencia.

Resumo Fundamento Tem sido observado um grande avanço nas técnicas e nos dispositivos para a realização de intervenções coronárias percutâneas (ICP) em oclusões totais coronarianas crônicas (OTC), mas existem poucos dados da prática do mundo real em países em desenvolvimento. Objetivos Relatar as características clínicas e angiográficas, os aspectos dos procedimentos e os resultados clínicos da ICP de OTC em centros dedicados a esse procedimento no Brasil. Métodos Os pacientes incluídos foram submetidos à ICP de OTC em centros participantes do LATAM CTO Registry, um registro multicêntrico latino-americano dedicado à coleta prospectiva desses dados. Os critérios de inclusão foram procedimentos realizados no Brasil, idade acima de 18 anos e presença de OTC com tentativa de ICP. A definição de OTC foi lesão de 100% em uma artéria coronária epicárdica, conhecida ou estimada como tendo pelo menos 3 meses de evolução. Resultados Foram incluídos dados de 1.196 ICPs de OTC. Os procedimentos foram realizados principalmente para controle da angina (85%) e/ou tratamento de uma grande área isquêmica (24%). A taxa de sucesso técnico foi de 84% e foi alcançada com técnicas de fios anterógrados em 81%, dissecção/reentrada anterógrada em 9% e retrógrada em 10% dos procedimentos. Os eventos cardiovasculares adversos intra-hospitalares ocorreram em 2,3% dos casos, sendo a mortalidade de 0,75%. Conclusões As OTC podem ser tratadas no Brasil por intervenção coronária percutânea de forma efetiva e com baixas taxas de complicações. O desenvolvimento científico e tecnológico observado nessa área na última década reflete-se na prática clínica de centros brasileiros dedicados a essa técnica. Abstract Background Major advances have been seen in techniques and devices for performing percutaneous coronary interventions (PCIs) for chronic total occlusions (CTOs), but there are limited real-world practice data from developing countries. Objectives To report clinical and angiographic characteristics, procedural aspects, and clinical outcomes of CTO PCI performed at dedicated centers in Brazil. Methods Included patients underwent CTO PCI at centers participating in the LATAM CTO Registry, a Latin American multicenter registry dedicated to prospective collection of these data. Inclusion criteria were procedures performed in Brazil, age 18 years or over, and presence of CTO with PCI attempt. CTO was defined as a 100% lesion in an epicardial coronary artery, known or estimated to have lasted at least 3 months. Results Data on 1196 CTO PCIs were included. Procedures were performed primarily for angina control (85%) and/or treatment of moderate/severe ischemia (24%). Technical success rate was 84%, being achieved with antegrade wire approaches in 81% of procedures, antegrade dissection and re-entry in 9%, and retrograde approaches in 10%. In-hospital adverse cardiovascular events occurred in 2.3% of cases, with a mortality rate of 0.75%. Conclusions CTOs can be treated effectively in Brazil by using PCI, with low complication rates. The scientific and technological development observed in this area in the past decade is reflected in the clinical practice of dedicated Brazilian centers.

It is anticipated that both ionizing radiation and traumatic injury may occur simultaneously in future terrorist attacks and battlefield scenarios. However, it is not known how radiation combined with injuries (RCI) will impact physiological compensatory responses to traumatic hemorrhage and survival. We hypothesized that the addition of radiation to our established traumatic hemorrhage model (Klemcke et al., J Appl Physiol 2021) would increase mortality. Male rats (n=6/group) were randomly assigned to 1 of 4 groups: sham (no injury; no radiation); radiation injury (RI) only; traumatic hemorrhage alone (CI); or RI combined with traumatic hemorrhage (RCI). For RI and RCI rats, whole-body irradiation was performed with a single, sub-lethal X-ray dose of 5.5 Gy delivered at 1 Gy/min (MultiRad 350). CI consisted of extremity trauma (fibular fracture + penetrating and soft tissue injury, performed under isoflurane anesthesia) followed by conscious hemorrhage of 37% of blood volume. Rats were monitored for 14 days following injury or sham procedures. Sham rats had 100% survival to Day 14, while RI and CI rats had 50% and 50% mortality, respectively, at this point. RCI rats, however, demonstrated 100% mortality at Day 14; differences in survival proportions were significant (P=0.005). We therefore developed a new rat model of RCI by combining X-ray irradiation with traumatic hemorrhage which allows acute (hours) as well as chronic (days) observations. While RI alone produced significant mortality, the addition of traumatic hemorrhage increased mortality to 100%. Background: The use of cerebral oximetry monitoring in the care of extremely preterm infants is increasing. However, evidence that its use improves clinical outcomes is lacking.Methods: In this randomized, phase 3 trial conducted at 70 sites in 17 countries, we assigned extremely preterm infants (gestational age, Results: A total of 1601 infants underwent randomization and 1579 (98.6%) were evaluated for the primary outcome. At 36 weeks' postmenstrual age, death or severe brain injury had occurred in 272 of 772 infants (35.2%) in the cerebral oximetry group, as compared with 274 of 807 infants (34.0%) in the usual-care group (relative risk with cerebral oximetry, 1.03; 95% confidence interval, 0.90 to 1.18; P = 0.64). The incidence of serious adverse events did not differ between the two groups.Conclusions: In extremely preterm infants, treatment guided by cerebral oximetry monitoring for the first 72 hours after birth was not associated with a lower incidence of death or severe brain injury at 36 weeks' postmenstrual age than usual care. Supplementary Data from Antibodies to TWEAK Receptor Inhibit Human Tumor Growth through Dual Mechanisms

Purpose: Targeted therapeutics have significantly changed the outcome for patients diagnosed with cancer. Still, effective therapeutic intervention does not exist for many cancers and much remains to be done. The objective of this study was to identify novel genes that potentially regulate tumor growth, to target these gene products with monoclonal antibodies, and to examine the therapeutic potential of these antibodies.Experimental Design: Using cDNA microarray analysis, we identified genes overexpressed in several solid malignancies. We generated a mouse monoclonal antibody, 19.2.1, and its humanized counterpart, PDL192, to one such target, TweakR (TWEAK receptor, Fn14, TNFRSF12A, CD266), and characterized the antitumor activities in vitro and in mouse xenograft models.Results: Both 19.2.1 (mouse IgG2a) and PDL192 (human IgG1), like TWEAK, the natural ligand of TweakR, inhibited the growth of several TweakR-expressing cancer cell lines in anchorage-dependent and anchorage-independent assays in vitro. Both antibodies showed significant antitumor activity in multiple mouse xenograft models. PDL192 and 19.2.1 also induced antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) of cancer cell lines in vitro. A chimeric version of 19.2.1 containing the mouse IgG1 Fc region (19.2.1×G1) exhibited significantly less ADCC than 19.2.1. However, 19.2.1×G1 showed differential activity in vivo, with activity equivalent to 19.2.1 in one model, but significantly less efficacy than 19.2.1 in a second model. These results indicate that PDL192 and 19.2.1 mediate their antitumor effects by signaling through TweakR, resulting in reduced tumor cell proliferation, and by ADCC. Clin Cancer Res; 16(2); 497–508

Purpose:The response to cancer immune therapy is dependent on endogenous tumor-reactive T cells. To bypass this requirement, CD3-bispecific antibodies have been developed to induce a polyclonal T-cell response against the tumor. Anti-HER2/CD3 T-cell–dependent bispecific (TDB) antibody is highly efficacious in the treatment of HER2-overexpressing tumors in mice. Efficacy and immunologic effects of anti-HER2/CD3 TDB were investigated in mammary tumor model with very few T cells prior treatment. We further describe the mechanism for TDB-induced T-cell recruitment to tumors.Experimental Design:The immunologic effects and the mechanism of CD3-bispecific antibody-induced T-cell recruitment into spontaneous HER2-overexpressing mammary tumors was studied using human HER2 transgenic, immunocompetent mouse models.Results:Anti-HER2/CD3 TDB treatment induced an inflammatory response in tumors converting them from poorly infiltrated to an inflamed, T-cell abundant, phenotype. Multiple mechanisms accounted for the TDB-induced increase in T cells within tumors. TDB treatment induced CD8+ T-cell proliferation. T cells were also actively recruited post-TDB treatment by IFNγ-dependent T-cell chemokines mediated via CXCR3. This active T-cell recruitment by TDB-induced chemokine signaling was the dominant mechanism and necessary for the therapeutic activity of anti-HER2/CD3 TDB.Conclusions:In summary, we demonstrate that the activity of anti-HER2/CD3 TDB was not dependent on high-level baseline T-cell infiltration. Our results suggest that anti-HER2/CD3 TDB may be efficacious in patients and indications that respond poorly to checkpoint inhibitors. An active T-cell recruitment mediated by TDB-induced chemokine signaling was the major mechanism for T-cell recruitment.

BACKGROUND Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and other sexual minority (LGB+) girls are more likely than heterosexual girls to be pregnant during adolescence. Nonetheless, LGB+ inclusive pregnancy prevention programming is lacking. METHODS Between January 2017 and January 2018, 948, 14 to 18 year-old cisgender LGB+ girls were enrolled in a national randomized controlled trial. Girls were assigned either to Girl2Girl or an attention-matched control group. They were recruited via social media and enrolled over the telephone. The 5-month intervention consisted of a 7-week program (4–12 text messages sent daily) and a 1-week booster delivered 12 weeks later. Longitudinal models of protected sex events had a negative binomial distribution and a log link function. Longitudinal models examining use of birth control assumed a Bernoulli distribution of the outcome variable and a logit link function. Models adjusted for baseline rate of the outcome, age, and a time-varying indicator of sexual experience. RESULTS Girl2Girl participants had higher rates of protected penile-vaginal sex events over time compared with controls. Girl2Girl participants also were more likely than control participants to report use of birth control other than condoms. Models of abstinence and pregnancy rates did not suggest statistically significant group differences across time. However, effect sizes were in the small to medium range and point estimates favored Girl2Girl versus control in both cases. CONCLUSIONS Girl2Girl is associated with sustained pregnancy preventive behaviors for LGB+ girls through 12 months postintervention. Text messaging could be considered as a viable method to increase access to sexual health programming to adolescents nationally.

IntroductionThe Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) has been proposed as suitable to study help-seeking intentions. This paper aims to develop the IH-RHAC scale (Help-seeking intention in young adults with hazardous and harmful alcohol consumption) with the TPB. The objectives of the study were: (a) to analyze the structure, reliability, and validity of the instrument, (b) to identify whether attitude, subjective norm, self-efficacy, and past help-seeking would predict help-seeking intention, and (c) to assess concurrent validity.MethodsFrom a total of 2,011 students who responded to the surveys, the sample was made up of 263 university students aged 18 to 29 with hazardous and harmful alcohol consumption practices, who responded to an online questionnaire including the AUDIT, IH-RHAC, and a scale of barriers and resources for alcohol consumption. Partial least squares structural equations (PLS-SEM) were used to test the hypotheses about reliability, validity of the scales, and prediction of the constructs: attitude, subjective norms, self-efficacy, and help-seeking in the past about intention. Pearson’s correlations were used to obtain evidence of concurrent validity.ResultsThe results displayed favorable psychometric characteristics. The internal measurement model showed that attitude, self-efficacy, and prior help-seeking predicted a 27% help-seeking variance. Subjective norm did not predict intention.DiscussionIt has been concluded that this is an instrument with psychometric support that can contribute to designing and/or evaluating interventions that promote the students’ search for help.

PURPOSE: To help reduce suicide and other forms of self-harm, research with youth and their exposure to self-directed violence is critical. Yet we know little about how participants feel about taking part in a survey that asks about such exposure. The present study aims to understand the survey experience of youth and young adult participants in a study about exposure to self-directed violence. METHODS: A total of 990 participants, aged 13–23 years, were recruited through study advertisements on Facebook and Instagram between November 27, 2020, and December 4, 2020. Data for this cross-sectional study were collected in the United States. RESULTS: A total of 37.6% of participants felt somewhat upset from their survey experience, and 14.9% were upset or extremely upset with the highest levels of upset reported by cisgender sexual minority girls and gender minority youth. Lower odds of saying one’s contributions were valuable were noted for cisgender sexual minority boys and gender minority youth compared to cisgender heterosexual boys, as well as youth who reported exposure to self-directed violence. Eight in 10 youth felt it was important to ask questions about self-directed violence exposure in surveys. CONCLUSIONS: The research and practitioner communities should be particularly mindful of high-risk populations and identify innovative ways to better support and encourage their voice in research, as well as highlight the value of their participation. The results provide some guidance for those conducting research with youth on this topic.

La Ley 29/2015, de 30 de julio, de cooperación jurídica internacional en materia civil despertó gran expectación entre los operadores jurídicos internacionales. Entre otras materias, esta Ley venía teóricamente a resolver diversas cuestiones relacionadas con la prueba del Derecho extranjero ante los tribunales españoles, sobre las cuales la doctrina venía años reclamando una adecuada regulación. Uno de los principales problemas del sistema español de Derecho internacional privado en este ámbito ha sido la ausencia de regulación para los casos de falta de prueba del Derecho extranjero. El presente trabajo versa sobre la prueba del Derecho extranjero, los principales problemas que ello plantea, y, en particular, sobre el estado actual en nuestra jurisprudencia en torno a la cuestión de lo procedente ante la falta de prueba del Derecho extranjero.

El hundimiento de paradigmas por la pandemia, también en conducta mercadológica, exige una respuesta adaptativa en profundidad de las marcas. Pero llegar a propuestas de adaptación exige una exploración conforme a la filosofía de conocimiento para la acción, siempre obligada en toda investigación de marketing-publicidad. Nuevos paradigmas deben hacer énfasis en la respuesta urgente dada la situación. Esto requiere construir una nueva estrategia de extracción de contenido, aplicada sobre el triángulo formado por marcas, publicidad y nuevos medios. Se propone una nueva estrategia metodológica para superar la lógica insuficiencia del corpus documental existente, capaz de integrar información en formatos de alta diversidad (por ejemplo, testimonios de expertos y encuestas a profesionales), desde una cuidada selección de publicaciones, creando un metacorpus exploratorio, pero de alta cualificación objetiva. Con la estrategia propuesta, creemos haber conseguido verificar el estado de situación y a la vez ofrecer orientación para las marcas y su publicidad, forzadas por las tendencias mercadológicas y los nuevos medios, ya existentes antes de la pandemia, pero ahora aceleradas. Se resaltan filosofías de branding y publicidad para un relanzamiento y cómo hay que cambiar la medición automatizada de resultados ante el fin a plazo de las cookies. The collapse of paradigms due to the pandemic, also in marketing behavior, requires an in-depth adaptive response from brands. But getting into adaptation proposals requires an exploration in accordance with the philosophy of knowledge for action, always required in all marketing-advertising research. New paradigms must emphasize an urgent response given the situation. This requires building a new content extraction strategy, applied to the triangle formed by brands, advertising and new media. A new methodological strategy is proposed to overcome the logical insufficiency of the existing documentary corpus, capable of integrating information in highly diverse formats (for example, expert testimonies and professional surveys), from a careful selection of publications, creating an exploratory metacorpus but of high objective qualification. With the proposed strategy, we believe we have managed to verify the state of play and at the same time offer guidance for brands and their advertising, as they forced by market trends and new media, already existing before the pandemic, but now accelerated. Branding and advertising philosophies are highlighted for a relaunch and for the improve of automated measurement of results, given the end of the cookies.

This study aims to investigate whether Girl2Girl, a text messaging-based pregnancy prevention program for cisgender LGB+ girls, had different effects on subgroups based on age, sexual identity, and experience with penile-vaginal sex. A total of 948 girls, 14–18 years old, were recruited nationally via social media and enrolled over the telephone. Once they completed the baseline, they were randomized to either Girl2Girl or an attention-matched control program that discussed “healthy lifestyle” topics (e.g., self-esteem). Both programs were 5 months long: Girls received daily messages for 8 weeks, and then went through a “latent” period of 3 months, and finished with a 1-week review. Outcome measures included condom-protected sex, uptake of other types of birth control, abstinence, and pregnancy. Measures were collected at baseline; 3-month, 6-month, 9-month, and 12-month post-intervention end, which was 17 months after enrollment. Effect modification was examined using longitudinal mixed effects models. Overall, results suggested significant moderating effects of age,(f2 = .12), sexual identity (f2 f2 = .11) on rates of condom use and use of other contraception. Although there were no significant moderating effects on pregnancy, abstinence, or intentions to use condoms, use birth control, or be abstinent, (p’s > .16), patterns of effects were in the same direction as for significant findings. For example, at 9-month post-intervention, among those who identified as bisexual, the incidence rate of protected sex events was 39% higher for intervention vs. control (IRR = 1.39, 95% CI: 1.06–2.70), adjusting for baseline rate of condom use and sexual experience. Similarly, at 12 months, among bisexual participants, intervention participants had a significantly higher IRR of condom-protected sexual events (IRR = 2.65, 95% CI: 1.31–5.34). There were also higher odds of uptake of birth control use other than condoms for intervention vs. control at 6- (OR = 1.10, 95% CI: 1.01–1.77), 9 m (OR = 1.11, 95% CI: 1.07–1.89), and 12-month (OR = 1.13, 95% CI: 1.07–1.78) follow-up. Girl2Girl appears to be particularly effective for older adolescents, bisexual girls, and those who have already had penile-vaginal sex. No one single approach is going to affect teen pregnancy. Instead, it is more likely that different intervention content and delivery methods will be more accessible and salient to some but not other youth. Understanding for whom the intervention works is just as important as understanding for whom the intervention does not, as this can inform opportunities for future intervention development.Clinical Trial Registration: ClinicalTrials.gov ID# NCT03029962.
