A selective c-Met and Trks inhibitor Indo5 suppresses hepatocellular carcinoma growth. (DOC 20 kb)

Ten alkaloids (1-10), with sophoridine (1) as the most abundant component, were obtained from the whole plants of Oxytropis ochrocephala Bunge. Furthermore, eight new sophoridine derivatives (11-16, 20, 21), with modification on the C-14 position of 1 were synthesized. All compounds (1-16, 20, 21) were evaluated for antiproliferative activity against five human tumor cell lines. Among them, the newly synthesized derivative 20 exhibited the best inhibitory activity against the tested cell lines. Its activity was increased by more than fourfold as compared with parent compound 1.

The measurement and observation for this study were carried out at Forest Ecosystem Opened Research Station of Changbai Mountains (128°28′E and 42°24′ N, Jilin Province, P. R. China). Characteristics of Dominant time scales (DTSes) and dominant time scales contribution ratios (DCRs) across canopy-atmosphere interface and controlling factors were analyzed with multi-scale method. DTS of stream wise and lateral velocity components were larger than that of vertical velocity component. While DCR of vertical velocity component was larger than that of the stream wise and lateral velocity components. Effect of atmospheric stability on DCR and DTS was nonlinear. DTS under unstable conditions was larger than that under stable conditions; DTS and DCR were determined upon the original scales characteristics of upwind flow under strong stability. Canopy structure would influence DTS and DCR across canopy-atmosphere interface remarkably.

The courses on the history of scientific technology cover a variety of topics and subjects colorfully from their very beginnings. The main purpose of this article is to try to represent these complicated contents through pictures, audio and video resources to improve the efficiency of these courses and arouse the student interests in the history of scientific technology. In this article, the course — The History of Textile Technology is explored, in which the staff in the library are responsible for teaching resource collection, digital processing and producing to accomplish a multimedia model, the application of which will provide effective information services in the multimedia teaching, thus achieves the basic objective of the study. Its practice will provide reference for teaching reform of college courses of history of science and technology.

Objective: To comparatively assess the clinical outcome of modified unilateral percutaneous vertebroplasty for the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures. Methods: The clinical outcome and incidence of cement extrusion in a consecutive group of 70 patients at our institution between December 2005 and December 2008 was retrospectively reviewed. Thirty‐five patients were randomly distributed to modified percutaneous vertebroplasty (Group A) and 35 to traditional percutaneous vertebroplasty (Group B). A visual analog scale (VAS) was used on the first post‐operative day and 1 year later to assess the severity of pain before and after vertebroplasty. The incidence of cement extrusion on CT scan was also compared between the two groups. Results: The treatment was successful in all seventy patients. The incidence of cement extrusion was 14.29% (5/35 patients) in group A, and 37.12% (13/35 patients) in group B, this difference being statistically significant (P < 0.05). No patients had serious complications. Complete pain relief was achieved in 50 patients, and significant relief in the other 20 (20/70 patients). There was no statistically significant difference between Groups A and B. Conclusion: Modified percutaneous vertebroplasty enhances the accuracy of cement injection into the center of the vertebral body, increasing the safety of the procedure with no increase in cost. It is a safer and more easily performed technique for treating patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures than traditional percutaneous vertebroplasty.

The suitability of catenary directly affects the performance of current collecting between the pantogragh and catenary, in a general way whether the catenary has large unsuitability, namely hard spot, is depended on which if the maximum associated with the vertical impact acceleration of pan-head within each segment is larger than a given threshold, it will be calculated by fuzzy c-mean algorithm. Linear regression is used to equal the speed, which eliminates the influence of speed on the maximum associated with the vertical impact acceleration of pan-head. The result shows that threshold of the hard spot calculated by FCM algorithm is reasonable.

Based on Keller's study on brand equity, this paper proposes a new model to evaluate Web Portal's brand equity - E-equity. Web awareness and Web image are conceptualized in the model as two dimensions of E-equity. Factors affecting these two dimensions are well defined and the relationships between these factors are discussed thoroughly. With data collecting in Chinese Web Portals, the model is tested using Structural Equation Model. The results obtained in this study would provide insights for the managers of Chinese Web Portals to develop more user-oriented marketing strategies and to gain differential competitive advantages in online environment.

Twelve novel 20-sulfonylamidine derivatives (9a–9l) of camptothecin (1) were synthesized via a Cu-catalyzed three-component reaction. They showed similar or superior cytotoxicity compared with that of irinotecan (3) against A-549, DU-145, KB, and multidrug-resistant (MDR) KBvin tumor cell lines. Compound 9a demonstrated better cytotoxicity against MDR cells compared with that of 1 and 3. Mechanistically, 9a induced significant DNA damage by selectively inhibiting Topoisomerase (Topo) I and activating the ATM/Chk related DNA damage-response pathway. In xenograft models, 9a demonstrated significant activity without overt adverse effects at 5 and 10 mg/kg, comparable to 3 at 100 mg/kg. Notably, 9a at 300 mg/kg (i.p.) showed no overt toxicity in contrast to 1 (LD50 56.2 mg/kg, i.p.) and 3 (LD50 177.5 mg/kg, i.p.). Intact 9a inhibited Topo I activity in a cell-free assay in a manner similar to that of 1, confirming that 9a is a new class of Topo I inhibitor. 20-Sulfonylamidine 1-derivative 9a merits development as an anticancer clinical trial candidate.
