In this work, we extend the resummation for the thrust distribution in Higgs decays up to the fifth logarithmic order. We show that one needs the accurate values of the three-loop soft functions for reliable predictions in the back-to-back region. This is especially true in the gluon channel, where the soft function exhibits poor perturbative convergence., 31 pages, 6 figures, 3 tables

We present the calculation of the next-to-leading-order corrections for Higgs boson+jet production at the Large Hadron Collider, that arise from the Higgs trilinear self-coupling (λHHH). We use the method of large top-quark mass expansion to tackle the challenging two-loop virtual amplitude and apply the Padé approximation to extend the region of convergence of this expansion. We find that the λHHH-related corrections amount to 0.66% for the total cross section. For the invariant mass distribution and Higgs boson transverse momentum distribution, the corrections are mostly in the range 0.5%–0.7%. Our results can be used to set extra constraints on λHHH from the experimental data.

In this paper, we explore the recursive structure of Baikov representations for Feynman integrals. We demonstrate that the various Baikov representations for all sectors of an integral family can be organized in a tree-like structure. Using this structure, we show that the symbol letters of one-loop Feynman integrals can be written in terms of minors of a matrix associated with the top sector. Non-trivial relations among these symbol letters can then be easily discovered using results from linear algebra., 25 pages, 7 figures

In this paper, we investigate two-loop non-planar triangle Feynman integrals involving elliptic curves. In contrast to the Sunrise and Banana integral families, the triangle families involve non-trivial sub-sectors. We show that the methodology developed in the context of Banana integrals can also be extended to these cases and obtain $\varepsilon$-factorized differential equations for all sectors. The letters are combinations of modular forms on the corresponding elliptic curves and algebraic functions arising from the sub-sectors. With uniform transcendental boundary conditions, we express our results in terms of iterated integrals order-by-order in the dimensional regulator, which can be evaluated efficiently. Our method can be straightforwardly generalized to other elliptic integral families and have important applications to precision physics at current and future high-energy colliders., Comment: 43 pages, 9 figures

We propose a novel method to determine the structure of symbols for a family of polylogarithmic Feynman integrals. Using the d log-bases and simple formulas for the first- and second-order contributions to the intersection numbers, we give a streamlined procedure to compute the entries in the coefficient matrices of canonical differential equations, including the symbol letters and the rational coefficients. We also provide a selection rule to decide whether a given matrix element must be zero. The symbol letters are deeply related to the poles of the integrands, and also have interesting connections to the geometry of Newton polytopes. Our method will have important applications in cutting-edge multi-loop calculations. In this paper, we present the universal structure of the alphabet of one-loop Feynman integrals. The letters in the alphabet are calculated using the Baikov representation with cuts. We consider both convergent and divergent cut integrals and observe that letters in the divergent cases can be easily obtained from convergent cases by applying certain limits. The letters are written as simple expressions in terms of various Gram determinants. The knowledge of the alphabet enables us to easily construct the canonical differential equations of the $ d\log $ form and aids in bootstrapping the symbols of the solutions., 13 pages, 2 figures; v3: published version in Chinese physics C

We present FastGPL, a C++ library for the fast evaluation of generalized polylogarithms which appear in many multi-loop Feynman integrals. We implement the iterative algorithm proposed by Vollinga and Weinzierl in a two-step approach, i.e., we generate concise expressions using an external program and hard-code them into the numeric library. This allows efficient and accurate numeric evaluations of generalized polylogarithms suitable for Monte Carlo integration and event generation. Floating-point arithmetics are carefully taken care of to avoid loss of accuracy. As an application and demonstration, we calculate the two-loop corrections for Higgs boson production in the vector boson fusion channel at electron-positron colliders. In this study, we investigate the invariant-mass distribution of top-quark pairs near the 2mt threshold, which strongly influences the determination of the top-quark mass mt. Higher-order non-relativistic corrections lead to large contributions, which are not included in the state-of-the-art theoretical predictions. A factorization formula is derived to resum such corrections to all orders in the strong-coupling, and necessary ingredients are calculated to perform the resummation at next-to-leading power. We combine the resummation with fixed-order results and present phenomenologically relevant numerical results. The resummation effect significantly increases the differential cross-section in the threshold region and makes the theoretical prediction more compatible with experimental data. We estimate that using our prediction in the determination of mt will lead to a value closer to the direct measurement result.

Since the discovery of the Higgs boson at the Large Hadron Collider, a future electron-position collider has been proposed for precisely studying its properties. We investigate the production of the Higgs boson at such an $e^+e^-$ collider associated with a $Z$ boson, and calculate for the first time the mixed QCD-electroweak corrections to the total cross sections. We provide an approximate analytic formula for the cross section and show that it reproduces the exact numeric results rather well for collider energies up to 350 GeV. We also provide numeric results for $\sqrt{s}=500$ GeV, where the approximate formula is no longer valid. We find that the $\mathcal{O}(\alpha\alpha_s)$ corrections amount to a 1.3% increase of the cross section for a center-of-mass energy around 240 GeV. This is significantly larger than the expected experimental accuracy and has to be included for extracting the properties of the Higgs boson from the measurements of the cross sections in the future., Comment: Version published in Phys.Rev.D

We present new results for QCD corrections to the top-pair invariant mass and top-quark $p_T$ distributions in boosted top-quark pair production at hadron colliders. They are derived from a formalism which allows the joint resummation of soft and small-mass logarithms at NNLL$'$ order, thus taking into account all potentially large corrections in the boosted regime, where the partonic center-of-mass energy is parameterically much larger than the mass of the top quark. We match these results with those from standard soft-gluon resummation away from the small-mass limit to NNLL order and also with NLO fixed-order calculations, so that our results are valid in the maximum possible range of phase space. We review a Soft Collinear Effective Theory approach to the study of factorization and resummation of QCD effects in top-quark pair production. In particular, we consider differential cross sections such as the top-quark pair invariant mass distribution and the top-quark transverse momentum and rapidity distributions. Furthermore, we focus our attention on the large invariant mass and large transverse momentum kinematic regions, characteristic of boosted top quarks. We discuss the factorization of the differential cross section in the double soft gluon emission and small top-quark mass limit, both in Pair Invariant Mass (PIM) and One Particle Inclusive (1PI) kinematics. The factorization formulas can be employed in order to implement the simultaneous resummation of soft emission and small mass effects up to next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy. We consider Higgs boson pair production at the LHC in the $b \bar{b} W^+ W^-$ channel, with subsequent decay of the $W^+W^-$ pair into $\ell \nu j j$. Employing jet substructure and event reconstruction techniques, we show that strong evidence for this channel can be found at the 14 TeV LHC with 600 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity, thus improving the current reach for the production of Higgs boson pairs. At high values of the pair invariant mass the differential cross section for top-quark pair production at hadron colliders factorizes into soft, hard, and fragmentation functions. In this paper we calculate the next-to-next-to-leading-order (NNLO) corrections to the soft function appearing in this factorization formula, thus providing the final piece needed to evaluate at NNLO the differential cross section in the virtual plus soft approximation in the large invariant-mass limit. Technically, this amounts to evaluating the vacuum expectation value of a soft Wilson loop operator built out of light-like Wilson lines for each of the four partons participating in the hard scattering process, with a certain constraint on the total energy of the soft radiation. We report on recent calculations of the total cross section and differential distributions of top quark pair production at hardon colliders, including the invariant mass distribution, the transverse momentum and rapidity distributions, as well as the forward-backward asymmetry. We make use of recent results in effective theory and higher-order perturbative calculations to improve the theoretical predictions of the top-quark pair production cross section at hadron colliders. In particular, we supplement the fixed-order NLO calculation with higher-order corrections from soft gluon resummation at NNLL accuracy. Uncertainties due to power corrections to the soft limit are estimated by combining results from single-particle inclusive and pair invariant-mass kinematics. We present our predictions as functions of the top-quark mass in both the pole scheme and the MS(bar) scheme. We also discuss the merits of using threshold masses as an alternative, and calculate the cross section with the top-quark mass defined in the 1S scheme as an illustrative example., 9 pages

We make use of recent results in effective theory and higher-order perturbative calculations to improve the theoretical predictions of the QCD contribution to the top-quark pair production forward-backward asymmetry at the Tevatron. In particular, we supplement the fixed-order NLO calculation with higher-order corrections from soft gluon resummation at NNLL accuracy performed in two different kinematic schemes, which allows us to make improved predictions for the asymmetry in the $p\bar p$ and $t\bar t$ rest frames as a function of the rapidity and invariant mass of the $t\bar t$ pair. Furthermore, we provide binned results which can be compared with the recent measurements of the forward-backward asymmetry in events with a large pair invariant mass or rapidity difference. We calculate the leading O(alpha_s^4) contributions to the invariant mass distribution of top-quark pairs produced at the Tevatron and LHC, in the limit where the invariant mass of the t-tbar pair approaches the partonic center-of-mass energy. Our results determine at NNLO in alpha_s the coefficients of all singular plus distributions and scale-dependent logarithms in the differential partonic cross sections for q-qbar, gg -> t-tbar + X. A numerical analysis showing the effects of the NNLO corrections on the central values and scale dependence of the invariant mass distribution is performed. The NNLO corrections are found to significantly enhance the cross section and reduce the perturbative uncertainties compared to the NLO calculation., 14 pages, 4 figures. We calculate contributions to $B_s-\bar{B}_s$ mixing through tree-level sneutrino exchange in the framework of the minimal supersymmetric standard model with R-parity violation, including the next-to-leading-order QCD corrections. We compare our results with the updated bounds on the $B_s-\bar{B}_s$ mass difference reported by CDF collaborations, and present new constraints on the relevant combinations of parameters of the minimal supersymmetric standard model with R-parity violation. Our results show that upper bound on the relevant combination of couplings of $B_s-\bar{B}_s$ mixing is of the order $10^{-9}$. We also calculate the $B^0_d-\bar{B}^0_d$ and $K^0-\bar{K}^0$ mass differences, and show that the upper bounds on the relevant combinations of couplings are two and four orders of magnitude stronger than ones reported in the literatures, respectively. We also discuss the case of complex couplings and show that how the relevant combinations of couplings are constrained by the updated experiment data of $B_s-\bar{B}_s$, $B_d-\bar{B}_d$ mixing and time-dependent CP asymmetry $S_{J/\psi K_s}$, and future possible observations of $S_{J/\psi\phi}$ at LHCb, respectively., Comment: A version to be published in PRD

Recently Babar and Belle collaborations have measured direct CP asymmetry $A_{CP}=-0.114\pm 0.020$ in $\bar B^0 \to K^- \pi^+$. The experimental value is substantially different from QCD factorization prediction. We show that SUSY flavor changing neutral current interaction via gluonic dipole can explain the difference. CP asymmetries in other $B\to K\pi$ decays are predicted to be sizeable. Taking this asymmetry as a constraint, we find that the allowed SUSY parameter space is considerably reduced compared with constraint from $B\to X_s \gamma$ alone. We also find that the allowed time dependent CP asymmetries $S_f$ in $\bar B^0 \to \bar K^{* 0}\gamma \to \pi^0 K_S \gamma$ and $\bar B^0\to \phi K_S$ to be large. We consider the ratio between the double and single Higgs production cross sections and examine the prospect of measuring the trilinear Higgs self-coupling using this observable. Such a ratio has a reduced theoretical (scale) uncertainty than the double Higgs cross section.
