Variable stars play a key role in understanding the Milky Way and the universe. The era of astronomical big data presents new challenges for quick identification of interesting and important variable stars. Accurately estimating the periods is the most important step to distinguish different types of variable stars. Here, we propose a new method of determining the variability periods. By combining the statistical parameters of the light curves, the colors of the variables, the window function and the GLS algorithm, the aperiodic variables are excluded and the periodic variables are divided into eclipsing binaries and NEB variables (other types of periodic variable stars other than eclipsing binaries), the periods of the two main types of variables are derived. We construct a random forest classifier based on 241,154 periodic variables from the ASAS-SN and OGLE datasets of variables. The random forest classifier is trained on 17 features, among which 11 are extracted from the light curves and 6 are from the Gaia Early DR3, ALLWISE and 2MASS catalogs. The variables are classified into 7 superclasses and 17 subclasses. In comparison with the ASAS-SN and OGLE catalogs, the classification accuracy is generally above approximately 82% and the period accuracy is 70%-99%. To further test the reliability of the new method and classifier, we compare our results with the results of Chen et al. (2020) for ZTF DR2. The classification accuracy is generally above 70%. The period accuracy of the EW and SR variables is 50% and 53%, respectively. And the period accuracy of other types of variables is 65%-98%., 23 pages, 10 figures

An open cluster is an ideal region to study the evolution of stars. In this work, we use Gaia Early Data Release 3 (Gaia EDR3) to derive the fundamental parameters of 30 faint open clusters listed in the catalogue given by Cantat-Gaudin et al. (2018, A&A, 618, A93), but the G magnitude of all of the member stars of that catalogue is brighter than ∼18 mag. This catalogue does not provide isochrone fitting parameters and spatial structure parameters. We acquired the member stars of 30 open clusters using the Density-Based Spatial Clustering of Applications with Noise algorithm in Gaia EDR3. The G magnitude of the member stars using our method can be found down to ∼21 mag. The G-band, GBP-band, and GRP-band data of the member stars construct a good color–magnitude diagram, which can further ensure the precision of isochrone fitting. We also calculated the spatial structure parameters, which are the core radius and the limiting radius, using Markov chain Monte Carlo algorithm.

Model checking is a powerful technique for verifying the correctness of systems with respect to the requirements. While some errors happen in the property, the model itself, or the environment, we think that satisfaction of the property is meaningless (vacuous) satisfaction. It misleads users of model-checking that a system is correct. Traditional temporal logic vacuity detection is based on a syntactic definition. It is undesirable because vacuity detection would depend on syntactic formalization choices that have no effect on the semantics. This article presents an automaton-based semantic vacuity detection method which synthesizes the property into the automaton and detects the vacuity by detecting the reachability of the automaton state. Compared with the traditional syntactic-based vacuity detection, the proposed method is well suited for detecting vacuity with respect to multiple occurrences of a sub-formula. At the same time, we do not distinguish the temporal logic language. As long as the property can be synthesized into an automaton, this method can be well applied. We extend the vacuity to the satisfaction of real-time properties. The real experiments show that this method is applied efficiently in practical vacuity detection. To our knowledge, it is the first attempt to present and solve practical vacuity in an automaton view.

Contact binary stars are important research objects in astrophysics. The calculation speed of deriving the parameters of contact binaries with the Wilson–Devinney program and the Phoebe with Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) program is relatively slow. It is unrealistic to derive the parameters in batches with the program for sky survey data. We obtain a neural network model of supervised learning with the training of synthetic light curves with Phoebe. We calculate the parameters of eight special targets from the simulated data and the Kepler data. Then, we generate the new light curve to fit the light curve of the special target base on these parameters. The correlation index R2 of the fitting result is more than 0.98. The method can be used to fit the target which has orbital inclinations greater than 50°. By fitting the Kepler data and the observed data on the ground, the method has a good generalization ability to these targets, which have some noise and some starspots. The calculation speed of one light curve with this method is less than seconds. We can derive the parameters quickly in batches to undertake some statistical work for sky survey data with the method.

Soil environmental quality of agricultural land plays a determinate role in the quality of agricultural products, human health, and the safety of the ecosystem. In 2018, China issued the "soil environment quality risk control standard for soil contamination of agriculture land" (GB 15618-2018), which has been essential to soil pollution prevention and the control of agricultural land. In this study, a systematic and comparative analysis of soil environmental standards for the agricultural land of 17 countries or regions was conducted, including the framework, protection objective, derivation method, contaminant elements, analyses methods, and standard values, as well as the impact factors. The results showed that the number of contaminants of GB 15618-2018 was insufficient with the simple consideration of total concentrations. Meanwhile, there was a lack of the standardized derivation method. On such a basis, we put forward some suggestions to improve GB 15618-2018 in light of the aforementioned problems, including strengthening the research of soil environmental benchmark and background values; establishing the scientific and standardized derivation method; and improving the number, form, and availability of indicators for risk control. In the meantime, the regional and local background environmental concentration of soil was highly proposed as a supplement and optimization to soil screening values.

The first B-, V-, Rc-, and Ic-band light curves of CSS J022914.4+044340 are presented and analyzed. It is found that CSS J022914.4+044340 is a low mass ratio (0.198 +- 0.005) deep (63.7 +- 7.9%) contact binary, indicating that it has been already at the end evolutionary stage of tidally-locked evolution via magnetized wind. Because of the totally eclipsing character, the photometric solutions are reliable. The temperature and the metallicity are determined from the spectroscopic data as T = 5855 +- 15 K, and [Fe/H] = -0.842 +- 0.031, respectively. Based on the parallax of Gaia EDR3, the physical parameters of CSS J022914.4+044340 are estimated as M1 = 1.44 (+0.25,-0.22) solar mass, M2 = 0.29 (+0.05,-0.05) solar mass, R1 = 1.26 (+0.08,-0.06) solar radius, R2 = 0.65 (+0.03,-0.04) solar radius, L1 = 1.718 (+0.186,-0.191) solar luminosity, L2 = 0.416 (+0.039,-0.050) solar luminosity. Combined the fraction in light of the third body via the photometric solution (54%), the luminosity of the third body is estimated as 2.705 solar luminosity. The third body may be inferred as a subgiant. Thus, it is explained that why the primary component of CSS J022914.4+044340 has higher mass among the similar systems, and why its metallicity is so poor., Comment: Accepted

With the rapid urbanization and industrial structure adjustment in China, many contaminated sites have been left for remediation. It is essential to develop and implement ecological risk assessment (ERA) before remediating contaminated sites at a large scale as well as sequential management. In this review, we discussed the key problems in ecological risk assessment of soils in contaminated sites focusing on scientific principles, frameworks, techniques, and approaches, including 1) the site-specific framework, 2) uncertainty of conceptual model, 3) toxic mechanisms of combined contamination in soil, 4) screening of assessment endpoints, and 5) development of assessing approaches and frameworks. Then, two perspectives were addressed: the toxicological mechanism of soil combined pollution including bioavailability of contaminants in soil and their joint effect is the scientific problem in ecological risk assessment of soil in contaminated site; and weight of evidence approach based on USEPA four-step approach and EU Tier approach is applicable for ecological risk assessment in field conditions. Future studies should focus on: 1) the coordination of ecological risk assessment (ERA) framework and risk management framework, 2) conceptual mo-del, 3) process-based reactive transport models for exposure evaluation, 4) ecotoxicological mechanism of combined contamination in site soil, and 5) high ecological level endpoints. The aim of this review was to provide theoretical base and framework for the establishment of local guideline of ecological risk assessment in China.随着我国快速城市化以及产业结构的调整,遗留下了大量的污染场地,发展和实施污染场地土壤生态风险评估是进行大规模污染场地修复行动的必要条件。本文围绕污染场地土壤生态风险评估的科学原理、框架构建及技术方法等方面的关键问题: 1)评估框架的场地实际针对性;2)概念模型的不确定性;3)土壤复合污染毒性机制;4)评估终点筛选;5)评估方法和框架构建等展开讨论,指出土壤复合污染的制毒机制,即污染物生物有效性和联合效应是污染场地土壤生态风险评估的关键科学问题。耦合美国环保局四步法和欧盟层级法的“证据-权重法”评估框架适用于野外复杂环境条件下的土壤污染生态风险评估。建议今后重点开展以下5个方面的工作: 1)污染场地土壤生态风险评估技术框架与风险管控技术框架之间的联合;2)概念模型研究;3)基于过程的场地土壤污染物反应运移模型研究;4)场地土壤复合污染生态毒理学机制研究;5)生态系统高水平生态风险评估终点研究。旨在为形成我国本土污染场地土壤生态风险评估技术指南提供理论基础和构架。.

Contact binary systems are very important for studying physical processes such as strong interactions between stars, mass transfer, and stellar merger. Further, the members of an open cluster have the same age, metal abundance, and interstellar extinction conditions. Therefore, we can conduct a comparative study on the different binary systems of the same open cluster. NGC 6811 is an observed intermediate-aged, slightly reddened open cluster in the Kepler field of view; we conducted a corresponding study on the contact binary systems in this cluster. We analyzed six suspected targets and found a total of five EW-type binary systems within a field of 40′ radius of the NGC 6811 cluster center. These targets were analyzed base on the Kepler data, and the corresponding system parameters were obtained by using the latest version of the Wilson–Devinney code. Further, we also used Gaia DR2 data and the cluster distance data to estimate the absolute parameters of these targets to determine whether they are members of the cluster. Finally, we determined that two targets (KIC 9470175 and KIC 9533706) are most likely cluster members; KIC 9957411 and KIC 9776718 are definitely not members of the cluster, just background stars.

KIC 4762887 is a variable star with a very small amplitude discovered by K e p l e r and show the EW-type light curve. We analyzed the light curve of KIC 4762887 by using the 2015 version of the Wilson-Devinney code. The results indicated that it is not a contact binary, maybe not even an eclipsing binary. We also modelled the light curve by the Fourier analysis. The results indicated that the main effect in the light variations of KIC 4762887 is the ellipsoidal effect. Finally, we confirmed that KIC 4762887 is not an eclipsing binary, but rather an ellipsoidal variable star.

A lot of data in time domain were obtained by the Kepler mission, including many contact binaries. Long-term observation lets us obtain more information about the short time scale variation in their light curves or in their orbital periods. Unfortunately, the exposure time is too long (most of them are 30 minutes). Hence, many variations in light curves are smoothed. To avoid this problem, we analyzed some Kepler contact systems with both long-cadence mode and short-cadence mode data. Based on the single-layer structure with several grooves formed on both sides, the miniaturization and high reliability is achieved while offering uncompromised electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and convenience for assembly and disassembly.

In order to estimate the sparse vegetation information accurately in desertification region, taking southeast of Sunite Right Banner, Inner Mongolia, as the test site and Tiangong-1 hyperspectral image as the main data, sparse vegetation coverage and biomass were retrieved based on normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) and soil adjusted vegetation index (SAVI), combined with the field investigation data. Then the advantages and disadvantages between them were compared. Firstly, the correlation between vegetation indexes and vegetation coverage under different bands combination was analyzed, as well as the biomass. Secondly, the best bands combination was determined when the maximum correlation coefficient turned up between vegetation indexes (VI) and vegetation parameters. It showed that the maximum correlation coefficient between vegetation parameters and NDVI could reach as high as 0.7, while that of SAVI could nearly reach 0.8. The center wavelength of red band in the best bands combination for NDVI was 630nm, and that of the near infrared (NIR) band was 910 nm. Whereas, when the center wavelength was 620 and 920 nm respectively, they were the best combination for SAVI. Finally, the linear regression models were established to retrieve vegetation coverage and biomass based on Tiangong-1 VIs. R2 of all models was more than 0.5, while that of the model based on SAVI was higher than that based on NDVI, especially, the R2 of vegetation coverage retrieve model based on SAVI was as high as 0.59. By intersection validation, the standard errors RMSE based on SAVI models were lower than that of the model based on NDVI. The results showed that the abundant spectral information of Tiangong-1 hyperspectral image can reflect the actual vegetaion condition effectively, and SAVI can estimate the sparse vegetation information more accurately than NDVI in desertification region.

Gravel beds can prevent sand-dust emission and weaken sand-dust flux. We used wind-tunnel experiments and field observations on artificial gravel beds above the Mogao Grottoes to quantify their impact. In the report, we identified a significant correlation between gravel roughness and its ability to trap wind-transported sand. The optimal combinations of gravel diameter and coverage were determined. The greatest roughness is achieved when small gravel coverage is 75%, medium 40% and large 45%. We found that initial wind speed and gravel coverage are the key factors controlling the amount of sand trapped by the gravel beds.

For big spacecraft has many payloads with complexity constraints and resource-constrained problem, comprehensive analysis of the constraints that the angle between the astronomical observation payload and the sun, the constraints of the operating mode, the platform internal resource constraints and the load side put constraints. The platform internal resource and translate constraints are converted to 01 backpack model, planning and scheduling it through particle swarm optimization algorithm. Verified, in the case of resource-constrained it planning observations of loads at different times to achieve platform for optimal allocation of resources effectively.

This paper summarized the advantages and disadvantages of various mathematical models of the planning system today. And papers also analyzed the adaptability and Optimization result of intelligent algorithms in many different situations. Finally, the article gives the current EOS satellite mission planning system's latest developments and trends in the future.

To study the micro-meteorological effects of different underlying surfaces of structures to protect the Mogao Grottoes, we analyzed basic meteorological measurements collected at weather stations located in front of the grottoes, on top of the grottoes and in the artificial Gobi. The results show that the shelterbelts in front of the grottoes have a heat-retaining effect. The profile of average daily solar radiation in front of the grottoes forms a sharp peak and the profile in the Gobi forms a parabola, but these patterns vary in different seasons. The artificial Gobi was more susceptible to extremes in temperature and had a faster response and wider response range to ground temperature. The average monthly air temperature, average monthly relative humidity, and the average wind speed in the artificial Gobi tend to first decrease and then increase with measurement height.
