Purpose: This study investigated native Cantonese-speaking preschool children's diadochokinetic performance, including rate, accuracy, and regularity. The second aim of this study was to examine whether language-specific patterns exist by comparing diadochokinetic rates with the average DKK rate for native English speakers. Method: Sixty-four typically developing preschool children who were native Cantonese speakers participated. The diadochokinetic task administered to the children involved repetitions of monosyllabic, disyllabic, and trisyllabic words and nonsense words. The maximum performance of the children was compared by diadochokinetic rate (number of syllables per second), accuracy (percentage of matched production), and regularity (pairwise variability indexes, known as PVIs). Results: Monosyllabic units were produced faster, more accurately, and more regularly than multisyllabic units. Word repetition showed higher accuracy and generally lower regularity than nonsense words but similar rates. Older children were faster and more regular (higher raw PVI of initial consonants) than younger children, but younger children performed as accurately as them. When compared with data from English speakers, the diadochokinetic rates of Cantonese children were generally lower. Conclusions: Developmental progression was evident in terms of rate and regularity. The distinctive accuracy and regularity patterns between word and nonsense word repetition suggest a clinical value for both stimulus types. Language typology plays a role in diadochokinetic rate, supporting the use of language-specific reference data in practice. The typical diadochokinetic profile obtained in this study could serve as a clinical reference for speech motor assessments.

Summary So far, a total of 11 hydrate trial production projects have been carried out all over the world, all of which used a single vertical well or horizontal well to carry out hydrate production by the depressurization method or depressurization combined with other methods. These traditional production methods have some limitations: The single vertical well has a small contact area with the reservoir, and the transmission range of the temperature and pressure is limited; therefore, the productivity is low. The horizontal well can improve hydrate productivity from magnitude order; however, there is a long distance from the standard of commercial production of marine hydrate. Therefore, it is an inevitable trend to find a highly efficient and advanced drilling technology for heterogeneous hydrate reservoirs. The multibranch wells based on horizontal wells can not only increase the contact area between the hydrate reservoir and well by branch structure to improve the conductivity of the reservoir temperature and pressure but also improve the hydrate productivity by laying the branch at high hydrate saturation for areas with extremely uneven distribution. Therefore, for this paper, we chose the Shenhu area as the research area to establish an approximate realistic 3D heterogeneous geological model contained with hydrate, then we laid the multibranch wells based on horizontal wells in high hydrate saturation area and optimized the branch direction, location, and spacing, and the production increasing effect was assessed. Finally, an optimal multibranch well scheme was obtained under the conditions of this paper setting, which is as follows: The vertical multibranch well was set at the root end of the horizontal main well with a branch spacing of 10 m, and the productivity after optimization was 31.64% higher than that before optimization.

BACKGROUND: The incidence rate for migraine is 12% worldwide, and recurrence is common, which seriously affects the physical and mental health of patients. OBJECTIVE: To observe the clinical effect of Shallow Puncture and More Twirling method of acupuncture in treating migraine and its impact on serum 5-HT and β-EP. METHODS: A total of 76 patients with migraine were randomized into a control group and acupuncture group with 38 cases in each. In the control group, patients were orally administered flunarizine hydrochloride before sleep, 2 capsules once daily for 4 weeks. In the acupuncture group, Shallow Puncture and More Twirling method was adopted for the acupoints of Sizhukong (SJ 23), Toulinqi (GB 15) Shuaigu (GB 8), Xuanlu (GB 5), Fengchi (GB 20), Waiguan (SJ 5), Zulinqi (GB 41). Patients were given acupuncture 3 times per week for 4 weeks. Then, the total VAS (Visual Analogue Scale) scores, composite score of migraine, serum level of 5-HT and β-EP, and the clinical efficacy differences were observed before and after treatment and the side-effects were recorded among the two groups. RESULTS: The total VAS scores and composite score of migraine were significantly reduced among both groups after the treatment (P< 0.05), and the serum level of 5-HT and β-EP was significantly improved (P< 0.05). Compared with control group, the acupuncture group reported lower results in VAS score and migraine composite score (P< 0.05), and higher results in serum 5-HT and β-EP level (P< 0.05). The acupuncture group with shallow puncture and more twirling method showed a total effective rate of 86.5%, which is higher than the control group (78.4%). The difference is statistically significant (P< 0.05). CONCLUSION: Shallow Puncture and More Twirling method was superior to flunarizine hydrochloride in the treatment of clinical symptoms of migraine. Acupuncture also increases the serum level of 5-HT and β-EP in migraine.

To solve the problem that the Chicken swarm optimization (CSO) has low solution accuracy and tends to fall into the local optimum on later stages of iteration, an adaptive mutation learning Chicken swarm optimization (AMLCSO) is proposed in this paper. Firstly, to solve the problem of uneven initial distribution and improve the algorithm’s stability, a good-point set is introduced. Secondly, according to the difference between the current individual position and the optimal individual position, the nonlinear adaptive adjustment of weight is realized and the position update step is dynamically adjusted. This strategy improves the algorithm’s convergence. Thirdly, the learning update strategies of Gaussian mutation and normal distribution are introduced to improve the probability of selection and solving accuracy and avoid falling into the local optimum. Finally, the AMLCSO is compared with other standard algorithms and improved Chicken swarm optimization algorithms on twenty benchmark test functions. The experimental results show the AMLCSO has faster convergence and higher solution accuracy. &nbsp

To translate the English version Child Food Neophobia Scale (CFNS) into the Chinese version and test its reliability and validity in preschool children.To create the Chinese version of the CFNS, it was translated, back-translated, and cross-culturally adapted. The use of the Chinese version of CFNS by 575 parents of preschool children in two kindergartens in Yangzhou City was investigated using cluster sampling to assess the reliability and validity of the scale.The Chinese version of CFNS has nine items in total. The scale-level average content validity index (S-CVI/Ave) is 0.983. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) extracted 2 common factors, and the cumulative variance contribution rate was 49.437%. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) showed that the 2-factor model was well fitted. The Cronbach'α coefficient of the scale was 0.759, the Cronbach'α coefficients of the two factors were 0.735 and 0.713, the split-half reliability was 0.788, and the test-retest reliability was 0.756.The Chinese version of the Child Food Neophobia Scale has good reliability and validity in preschool children and can be used as an assessment tool for food neophobia in preschool children in China.This study has gone through a rigorous translation process, and the CFNS may support future exploration of food neophobia in preschool children. Food allergy factors in the results may be the next step in the research, and several studies are still needed to understand the relationship between food allergy and food neophobia.

Exercise intolerance is a major manifestation of pulmonary arterial hypertension associated with congenital heart disease (PAH-CHD). We aimed to investigate the characteristics of exercise intolerance in different subgroups of PAH-CHD.We retrospectively enrolled 171 adult patients with PAH-CHD and 30 age and sex-matched healthy subjects and performed cardiopulmonary exercise testing. Gas exchange parameters, including peak oxygen uptake (peak V̇oThe median age of patients at enrollment was 27.8 years, and 131 (76.6%) were female. Peak V̇oExercise capacity was severely reduced in patients with PAH-CHD. Among the four subgroups, patients with Eisenmenger syndrome had the worst exercise capacity and ventilatory efficiency.

ObjectivesThe genus Streptococcus contains species of important zoonotic pathogens such as those that cause bovine mastitis. Unfortunately, many Streptococcus species have developed antibiotic resistance. Phage lysins are considered promising alternatives to antibiotics because it is difficult for bacteria to develop lysin resistance. However, there remains a lack of phage lysin resources for the treatment of streptococci-induced mastitis.MethodsWe identified the prophage lysin Lys0859 from the genome of the Streptococcus suis SS0859 strain. Lys0859 was subsequently characterized to determine its host range, MIC, bactericidal activity in milk, and ability to clear biofilms in vitro. Finally, to determine the effects of Lys0859 on the treatment of both bovine mastitis and S. suis infection in vivo, we established models of Streptococcus agalactiae ATCC 13813-induced mastitis and S. suis serotype 2 SC19 systemic infection.ResultsOur results demonstrate that Lys0859 possesses broad-spectrum lytic activity against Streptococcus and Staphylococcus species isolated from animals with bovine mastitis and 15 serotypes of S. suis isolated from swine. Intramammary and intramuscular injection of Lys0859 reduced the number of bacteria in mammary tissue by 3.75 and 1.45 logs compared with the PBS group, respectively. Furthermore, 100 μg/mouse of Lys0859 administered intraperitoneally at 1 h post-infection protected 83.3% (5/6) of mice from a lethal dose of S. suis infection.ConclusionsOverall, our results enhance the understanding and development of new strategies to combat both streptococci-induced mastitis and S. suis infection.

Malignant peritoneal mesothelioma (MPM) is a rare, life-threatening malignant tumor. We present a report of a rare case of a 67-year-old male patient with MPM and severe abdominal pain, bloating, and bloody ascites as manifestations. The diagnosis was confirmed by cytology of ascites aspiration fluid and further verified by laparoscopic exploratory biopsy. The characteristics of signs and clinical manifestations in this case are less common. As everyone knows, asbestos exposure is usually associated with pleural mesothelioma, but only 6%-10% of malignant mesothelioma cases originate from the peritoneum, which is far less than pleural mesothelioma. Generally, its non-specificity provides a huge challenge to medical professionals in its diagnosis, and this is also the main reason for delayed diagnosis. Patients should be vigilant, even though no clear risk factor is observed.

Emerging data have demonstrated that low-grade inflammation in osteoarthritis, a long-held degenerative disease. The inflamed synovium produces various cytokines that induce cartilage destruction and joint pain. A previous study showed that teriparatide, an FDA approved anti-osteoporotic drug, may enhance cartilage repair. Our study focuses on its role in OA synovitis.Primary mouse articular chondrocytes were used to determine the most potent cytokines involved in OA inflammation and cartilage destruction. A destabilization of the medial meniscus mouse model was established to investigate the effect of teriparatide in OA, particularly, on synovial inflammation and cartilage degradation.In vitro experiments showed that TNF-α was the most potent inducer of cartilage matrix-degrading enzymes, and that teriparatide antagonized the TNF-α of effect. Consistently, articular cartilage samples from TNF-α transgenic mice contained more MMP-13 positive chondrocytes than those from wild type mice. In addition, more type II collagen was cleaved in human OA cartilage than in normal cartilage samples.Teriparatide can prevent synovitis and cartilage degradation by suppressing TNF-α mediated MMP-13 overexpression. Together with its chondroregenerative capability, teriparatide may be the first effective disease modifying osteoarthritis drug.

Influence of Fe3+ on the corrosion of titanium in H2SO4 solution without F− and with F− was investigated by electrochemical tests. The electrochemical test results showed that Fe3+ could significantly inhibit titanium corrosion in H2SO4 solution without F− and with F− by promoting the protective film formation on titanium. Titanium corrosion resistance (Rc) was positively related to the concentration of Fe3+ in H2SO4 without and with F−. A mechanism was proposed for Fe3+ inhibiting the corrosion of titanium in H2SO4 solution without and with F−.

The aim of this study was to examine the independent and joint associations of baseline coronary artery calcium score (CACS) and cystatin C (Cys-C) with the risk of major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events (MACCEs) and all-cause death in symptomatic populations.The study included 7140 patients with symptom of chest pain who underwent cardiac computerized tomography examinations to measure CACS. All of them had serum Cys-C results. Endpoints were set for MACCEs and all-cause death events.A total of 7140 participants were followed for a median of 1106 days. A total of 305 patients had experienced MACCEs and 191 patients had experienced all-cause death. CACS ≥ 100 and Cys-C ≥ 0.995 mg/L were independently associated with an increased risk of MACCEs (adjusted hazard ratio [HR]: 1.46; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.15-1.85; p = .002 and adjusted HR: 1.57; 95% CI: 1.24-2.00; p .001, respectively). Compared with CACS 100 and Cys-C 0.995 mg/L patients, CACS ≥ 100 and Cys-C ≥ 0.995 mg/L patients had the highest risk of MACCEs and all-cause death (adjusted HR: 2.33; 95% CI: 1.64-3.29; p .001 and adjusted HR: 2.85; 95% CI: 1.79-4.55; p .001, respectively). Even in patients with CACS 100, Cys-C ≥ 0.995 mg/L was also associated with a higher risk of MACCEs and all-cause death than Cys-C 0.995 mg/L (adjusted HR: 1.76; p = .003 and adjusted HR: 2.02; p = .007, respectively).The combined stratification of CACS and Cys-C showed an incremental risk of MACCEs and all-cause death, reflecting complementary prognostic value. Our results support the combination of the two indicators for risk stratification and event prediction.

We deal with the linear controllability of two underactuated multi-link robotic systems in this paper. First, for a general n-link inverted pendulum mounted on a cart in a vertical plane, we prove that it is linearly controllable around the equilibrium point with the cart in a desired position and each link of the pendulum in the upright position regardless of its physical parameters, if and only if the cart is actuated. Second, for an n-link underactuated planar robot with its first joint mounted on a fixed base in a horizontal plane, we prove that it is linearly controllable around the trajectory where each link of the robot stretches straight out and rotates with a constant angular velocity, if and only if its first joint is actuated, regardless of its physical parameters and regardless of the actuation or underactuation of its rest joints. We illustrate the above results via a quintuple pendulum-cart system and a four-link planar gymnastic robot in literature. We give new insights into the linear controllability around an equilibrium point or a trajectory of underactuated robotic planar systems with multiple unactuated joints.

Necroptosis is the major cause of death in alveolar epithelial cells (AECs) during acute lung injury (ALI). Here, we report a previously unrecognized mechanism for necroptosis. We found an accumulation of mitochondrial citrate (citratemt) in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-treated AECs because of the downregulation of Idh3α and citrate carrier (CIC, also known as Slc25a1). shRNA- or inhibitor–mediated inhibition of Idh3α and Slc25a1 induced citratemt accumulation and necroptosis in vitro. Mice with AEC-specific Idh3α and Slc25a1 deficiency exhibited exacerbated lung injury and AEC necroptosis. Interestingly, the overexpression of Idh3α and Slc25a1 decreased citratemt levels and rescued AECs from necroptosis. Mechanistically, citratemt accumulation induced mitochondrial fission and excessive mitophagy in AECs. Furthermore, citratemt directly interacted with FUN14 domain-containing protein 1 (FUNDC1) and promoted the interaction of FUNDC1 with dynamin-related protein 1 (DRP1), leading to excessive mitophagy-mediated necroptosis and thereby initiating and promoting ALI. Importantly, necroptosis induced by citratemt accumulation was inhibited in FUNDC1-knockout AECs. We show that citratemt accumulation is a novel target for protection against ALI involving necroptosis.

Since China is facing a complicated international situation and sustainable development requirement at the same time, this paper examines the effects of external uncertainty, international sanctions, on green innovations by adopting the system generalized method of moments (GMM) estimation for 30 provinces (autonomous region and municipalities) from 1997 to 2019. We employ green inventions as the dependent variable and 5 indicators of sanctions (including unilateral, plurilateral, multilateral, economic, and intensity) as the main explanatory variables alternately. For further robustness tests, we use substitution variable green utility models, adopt sub-samples in different regions, change the empirical methodology, and add omitted variables. We also examine the mechanism effects of three possible channels. The conclusion is that plurilateral and economic sanctions both present significant negative impacts on green innovations, whereas China was not affected by unilateral or multilateral sanctions during the sample period. GDP, interpersonal globalization, and environment are proved to be the possible channels through which sanctions affect green innovations. Our research findings should assist Chinese-listed companies suffering from sanctions to make better responses on their way to green innovations. First published online 24 November 2022

The Siberian roe deer (Capreolus pygargus) is a widely distributed ungulate in northeast China. Due to a series of human disturbance activities such as large-scale forest cutting, deforestation and reclamation, road construction in the past, the appearance and internal structure of forest vegetation in the habitat of Siberian roe have changed significantly. At the same time, Siberian roe population had a series of ecological adaptation responses in the face of such habitat changes. Therefore, two typical vegetation types with differences were selected in the Muling Forest, China. We used nutritional ecology and microbial metagenomic analysis techniques to compare the nutritional selection strategy and the structure and functional characteristics of faecal microbiota of Siberian roe groups in two vegetation types. The results showed that the α diversity of dietary and gut microbes of deer in Natural Forest was higher than that in Plantation Forest. However, the gut microbes of the Plantation Forest group contained more unique enzymes in the functional pathways of carbon metabolism and biosynthesis of amino acids. This study suggests that habitat type is associated with plant community composition, and contributes to changes in the intake proportions of major macronutrients by altering the availability, quality, and composition of certain edible plants. Feeding behaviour may be an important regulatory factor of gut microbiota structure and function of deer. The metabolic function of gut microbiota to different nutrients may affect the microbial community structure. Therefore, our results suggest that the gut microbes of Siberian roe may have coevolved with their diets, and reflect the adaptability of deer populations to environmental changes (e.g., vegetation type). Our study provides new insights into how spatial heterogeneity affects nutrition and microecosystems by describing the interactions among the environment, diet, and symbiotic gut microbes in wild ungulates.
