Ubichinons themselves are produced especially in the liver, heart, bone muscles, which have the biggest energy consumption. Basically they can be found in all body cells, because they make an important part of the respiratory chain in mitochondrias. Coenzyme Q10 is produced in the human body by the age of 20, after that its amount is decreasing. The absence of this substance is proven at people after 40 years of life. Main source of ubichinons indeed isn't food, but biosynthesis. To reach therapeutic effect it is necessary to take coenzyme Q10 for a longer time in daily amount of 30-100mg. As an alternative to the synthetic coenzyme Q10 balanced diet is very important, mainly because the concentration of coenzyme Q10 from cooked pork heart or capsules are indifferent in plasma. Coenzyme Q10 is included in various food (maize, walnuts, soya, meat, fish, broccoli, spinach, colsa, soya and sesame oil), unfortunately when technologicaly processed is a great amount of coenzyme Q10 is destructed before it comes to the final consumer. Considering the gathered findings, coenzyme Q10 should be a component part of substances (mixtures), which enrich some kinds of food., SK; sk; efsa.focalpoint@land.gov.sk
