Background: Mung bean (Vigna radiata L.) is an important edible bean in the human diet worldwide. However, its growth, development, and yield may be restricted or limited by insufficient or unbalanced nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) fertilization. Under intensive cropping systems, large amounts of K are removed, leading to serious depletion of soil K reserves. Therefore this study was conducted to generate the high yield and to improve yield components via effective and balanced fertilization.Methods: In this field experimentation during 2014-2016 different levels of potassium through soil application and foliar spray were studied. Three locations were selected on the basis dominance of the crops under rainfed condition.Result: In the present experimentation there was a significant effect of potash levels on plant height, number of pods per plant, 100-grain weight and grain yield. Significantly the highest grain yield (1120 kg ha-1) was recorded with 20 kg K2O ha-1, which was at par with 30 kg K2O ha-1. However, the grain yield with 20 kg K2O ha-1 was reported statistically equivalent yield with two foliar spray of muriate of potash (KCL) at flowering and pod filling stage. The pigments responsible for photosynthesis such as chlorophyll was favourably influenced by soil and foliar application of potassium. The K use efficiency parameters of AE, AR, ENUE and VCR were relatively high with potash application @ 20 kg ha-1 thereafter it declines. The positive balance of K is highly predominant in almost all the potassium applied plots which imply that the use of K fertilizers is optimal.

Background: Among the different production factors, irrigation and nutrient management are of immense importance in Pigeon pea cultivation. Drip irrigation can be considered as an efficient irrigation system to maintain optimum moisture content in the root zone. Split application of fertilizers at appropriate stages of crop growth ensure a regular flow of both water and nutrients resulting in increased growth rate and higher yield. Fertigation proposed as a means to increase efficient use of water and fertilizer to increase yield and sustained irrigated agriculture. The current study aims to study the efficacy of split application of N, P and K on growth, water and nutrient use efficiency, productivity and profitability of Pigeon pea.Methods: The field experiment was conducted at Department of Agronomy Farm, Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola during three consecutive kharif season of 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19. The experiment was laid out in randomised block design with four replications and eight treatments with an objective to study the efficacy of split application of nutrients on growth, water and nutrient use efficiency, productivity and profitability of Pigeon pea. Result: The results revealed that, all the growth parameters, yield attributes and grain yield of Pigeon pea were substantially enhanced by drip fertigation levels at 125:100:100 per cent recommended NPK than lower fertigation levels (75 and 100%) and over conventional soil application of recommended dose of NPK kg ha-1. Drip fertigation at 125:100:100 per cent recommended dose of NPK ha-1 recorded higher pigeon-pea pooled grain yield of 4053 kg ha-1. The maximum GMR (Rs.226807 ha-1), NMR (Rs.176604 ha-1), B:C ratio (4.52) and highest economic efficiency of Rs.883 day-1 ha-1.

Experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of imazthapyr and quizalofop-ethyl in different doses (50, 75 and 100 g/ha) with two interval (20–25 and 30–35 DAS), hand weeding twice (20 and 40 DAS) in comparison to unweeded control on yield and yield components of French bean during Rabi season of 2009 to 2011 under irrigated condition on Inceptisols. Among herbicides, application of imazethapyr at 100 g/ha at 20 DAS produced lowest weed index and highest weed efficiency and seed yield (1.24 t/ha). Imazethapyr at 100 g/ha at 20–25 DAS gave more economic profit (?28869/ha) followed by imazethapyr at 100 g/ha at 30–35 DAS (?27780/ha). None of the herbicides showed phytotoxicity to crop and was compatible with French bean. Imazethapyr and quizalofop-ethyl at lower concentration did not provide satisfactory weed control in rajmash field.

A field experiment was carried out to study the effect of potassium fertilization on growth, yield, quality, soil fertility and economics of chickpea during rabi 2008-09 to 2010-11. The growth and yield attributes were significantly improved by different potash levels. The application of 20 kg K2O/ha increase the seed and straw yield significantly over RDF alone and absolute control, however, could not influence significantly over foliar application of KNO3 (2%) twice at flowering and 15 days thereafter. Seed yield of chickpea increases up to 40 kg K2O/ha-1 and further decreases with 50 kg K2O/ha though the difference between them remained at par. The highest uptake of nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium was observed at 40 kg K2O ha-1 which was at par with 30 kg K2O ha-1. The seed protein content increased gradually with increase in potash level and maximum protein content were recorded with application of 40 kg K2O/ha-1 along with physical properties. Available N, P and K status of soil after harvest of chickpea were significantly influenced due to potash levels over initial status. The significantly higher net return was obtained with application of RDF+ 40 kg K2O ha-1 which in turn was found at par with lower level of RDF 30 kg K2O ha-1.
