The objective of this doctoral dissertation was to develop an information search model on the Internet - the Network Digital Information Literacies Model (LIDR) - based on the expansion of the information search model proposed by Shankar et al. (2005), which would contemplate the constitutive elements of literacy networks available on the Internet, in the access to linked information in English, whose motivation was the investigation of digital information literacies from the perspective of Applied Linguistics. These literacies are constituted in networks of information arising from a network of texts, materials, machines, media, skills, attitudes and dispositions, different human agents that allow the circulation, search, distribution and use of information (BUZATO, 2009; 2012). This is an exploratory experimental study that deals with an activity to search for information on sustainability, regarding the elaboration of an infographic. The activity was carried out by two groups of students from the 6th semester of Information Technology courses, at a college in the interior of the state of São Paulo. The records were generated from video and audio recording using the oCam application, which allows capturing the computer screen and the image of the participants. At the end of the activity, a semi-structured interview was applied in order to recover the information search process during the activity. The studies on information search developed by researchers in the areas of Information Science (DUDZIAK, 2003; GASQUE, 2010; 2013; AZEVEDO, GASQUE, 2017) and Librarianship (CAMPELLO, 2003; 2009; SILVA et al., 2005) were the starting point for carrying out the study, given that there are few works on this field of study, from the perspective of Applied Linguistics. The theorical assumptions that guided the data analysis were the studies about the constitutive elements of literacy networks (BUZATO, 2009; LEMKE, 2010, PEGRUM, 2010 e DUDENEY et al., 2016) and by Shankar et al. (2005) on digital information literacy, understood as the ability to access, evaluate and apply information from different sources for the construction of knowledge, which requires participants to handle multimedia content such as images, sounds and texts. Data were analyzed in light of the information search process model undertaken by Ellis (1989) and developed by Shankar et al. (2005), which allows the organization of data in individual search steps: initiation, chaining, browsing, differentiation, monitoring and extraction. The study findings showed graphocentric literacy practices associated with different technological actions in the digital context, such as the use of information filtering strategies, use of applications and tools, access to specific material in the information technology area (tutorials, manuals and discussion forums). The gaps identified in Shankar et al. (2005) model and included in LIDR can support new pedagogical attitudes to be added to traditional teaching practices based on what students do in the digital context and, therefore, contribute to the learning process Doutorado Linguagem e Tecnologia Doutora em Lingüística Aplicada
