La aproximación al abastecimiento de agua de Barcelona en la larga duración confirma una profunda discontinuidad, después de siglos de gran estabilidad tecnológica y ambiental. De modo que, dentro del amplio cúmulo de cambios que hemos convenido en etiquetar como ‘revolución industrial’, podemos postular la existencia de una ‘revolución del agua’. De hecho, una transición inacabada de ciento cincuenta años que ha transformado radicalmente nuestra vida cotidiana y ha llevado al actual reto medioambiental. Con todo, abordar un estudio de caso no busca simplemente verificar un esquema teórico previo o una hipótesis de partida. El propósito es poner el foco sobre un caso concreto que permita desvelar aspectos contextuales específicos, relaciones imprevistas, cambios en los factores críticos y nuevas cuestiones a tomar en cuenta. Con esta intención, partiendo de una investigación netamente empírica, la selección de las cuestiones y su periodización son interpretativas, y tiene el propósito de ampliar la paleta de interrogantes y contribuir a las aproximaciones comparadas.

Out of the most entrusted technological revolutions applied for the advancement of living standards and creation of a more convenient operation in the professional world, the Internet of Things (IoT) has been progressing at the highest projected pace. The interconnectivity of gadgets and devices over the internet to produce smarter control, communication, and a swift and easy lifestyle makes it an amazing tech introduction. However, the IOT also brings along a huge flow of privacy and security concerns whilst considering the huge inflow of data breaches and cyberattacks in the network data. The advancements in the security protocols of the data thus bring along mistrust among the users of IoT networks who might then no longer wish to be a part of this technological revolution. Therefore, it is important to maintain security assurance in the IoT based connection networks of wearable gadgets. This paper discusses the symmetric and asymmetric approaches of encryption over IoT which can help protect the network of smart phones connected to the wearable to assure a safe and smart data commute and avoid access to private data over the same internet connection.

We are told by the powerful that we live in, or are about to live in, a Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR). Seemingly, this revolution is about deep-seated, rapid, digitally powered techno-scientific change. It is the age of smart machines; it is a new information technology (IT) revolution. However, in this article I suggest that examination of the history of technologies that are often held up to be proof of the 4IR, in fact shows that there is no contemporary technological revolution. The research methodology that I employ here is conceptual analysis and a focused review of literature on the history of particular technologies. An industrial revolution, as its three historical instances have demonstrated, is the fundamental transformation of every aspect of industrial society, including its geopolitical, cultural, macro-social, micro-social, economic and technological strata. It certainly entails a technological revolution, but it is more than just that. In this article, I am not concerned with the broader ensemble of socio-economic changes – it seems increasingly clear that the ‘brave new world’ of the 4IR is not really happening – but simply ask the question: is there currently a technological revolution? The answer seems to be that there is not. Significance: The significance of this study is that it challenges the mainstream notion of technological innovation and change, associated with the ‘Fourth Industrial Revolution’. It has implications for the way we think about technological and scientific revolutions.

Recent changes in innovation development are related to the new technological revolution (Industry 4.0), pandemic, economic crises, and new legislation. These trends provide new opportunities for the improvement of production materials, construction, processes, and capacities. Innovative technologies improve the processes of business analyses and forecasting, as well as new product development, order processing, logistics, production automation, quality control, and marketing. Modern technologies are gradually replacing ergonomically demanding and dangerous occupations. Such innovations are particularly necessary for the transformation of problem companies and regions, as they often have a significant impact on economic development. This study is part of our long-term research on the technology innovation of problem companies and regions. Its primary goal is to methodically emphasize the importance and role of technology innovation management, mainly in problem companies, and analytically compare the innovation success of regions and countries from a global perspective. The study was carried out from 2015 to 2021. The time scope of the analyzed data is 2000–2018. The results show a certain Asian dominance in technology innovation management, in terms of the number of technology patents as well as of the growth dynamics and the ability to overcome the pandemic and crises in general.

The fourth industrial revolution of human society is also known as the “world’s new technological revolution,” which has brought human society into the information age and has had an extremely important impact on economic development and educational reform. In the information age, economic development and wealth creation are dominated by the acquisition, mastery, distribution, and utilization of information instead of capital. Therefore, the cultivation of talents is very important, and educational reform is imperative with the rise of the world’s new technological revolution.

The twenty-first century has witnessed an explosion in research on animal migration, in large part due to a technological revolution in tracking and remote-sensing technologies, along with advances in genomics and integrative biology. We now have access to unprecedented amounts of data on when, where, and how animals migrate across various continents and oceans. Among the important advancements, recent studies have uncovered a surprising level of variation in migratory trajectories at the species and population levels with implications for both speciation and the conservation of migratory populations. At the organismal level, studies linking molecular and physiological mechanisms to traits that support migration have revealed a remarkable amount of seasonal flexibility in many migratory animals. Advancements in the theory for why animals migrate have resulted in promising new directions for empirical studies. We provide an overview of the current state of knowledge and promising future avenues of study.

Our society has undergone a massive technological revolution over the past decade and electronic appliances have now become ubiquitous. The increase in production of electronic products and the growing inherent need to own the latest technology available has led to a significant increase in the amount of E-waste produced each year. India generated 3.2 million tonnes of E-waste in 2020, with metropolitan cities like Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore leading the list. Proper management and recycling of E-wastes are critical for the sustainability of any modern city today. While industrial and commercial collection of E-wastes has been in the spotlight, solutions for collection of E-wastes from individual households are limited. This article proposes the implementation of a mobile robot that identifies common electronic wastes based on transfer learning and serves as an attachment to existing municipality garbage trucks. The robot moves around, identifies electronic wastes and performs segregation of the identified material via its arm-based lift and storage mechanism. A convolutional neural network–based identification system has been employed for categorising the E-wastes and yields 96% accuracy. This is a first of its kind attempt, especially in India, to collect and segregate E-wastes from homes and individuals. The system will relieve unskilled labour from the hazardous process while providing a 20% decrease in costs over a 5-year period. The application of this article aims to provide a viable mobile solution for E-waste collection from households with minimal human intervention.

Artificial intelligence is profoundly changing human social life, and the integration between artificial intelligence and law continues to deepen. Artificial intelligence has brought new impetus for legal education from three dimensions: providing new technologies, establishing new models, and shaping new paradigms. At present, it is still at the exploratory stage on how to position the goal of cultivating versatile professionals of “artificial intelligence + law,” how to improve the competence of teachers, and how to integrate the curriculum system. As one of the important contents of the paradigm transformation of “New Liberal Arts” education, legal education must also upgrade the concept of cultivating professionals, make full use of the support of big data, artificial intelligence, and other new technologies, clarify the goal of cultivating versatile professionals who “have the ability of legal thinking can use artificial intelligence technology,” bolster the ranks of teachers who not only “understand the technology” but also can “foster a new generation of people with sound values and ethics,” and construct the interdisciplinary, integrated AILE theoretical and practical curriculum systems, for the purpose of responding to the development trend of the transformation of liberal arts education in the new era, and providing intellectual support for cultivating professionals to meet the development needs of the country in the new era.

Experts have categorized impact of emotional intelligence (EI) into Personal intelligence (PEI) and Social intelligence (SEI). The theoretical model of decision-making styles (DMS) includes the ‘People-oriented’ and ‘Task-oriented’ decision making styles (PDMS & TDMS). This study has investigated the comprehensively established models of relations between EI and DMS. The main research question was ‘How managers’ DMS is influenced by their PEI and SEI?’ The literature review was conducted by employing the thematic analysis. The cross-sectional survey approach was employed to collect data. The study investigated the emotional capacity of decision-makers at workplace which characterized by flooding of information, insecurity, and wider digital interactions – which result in the high levels of stress. This study is a spadework to further explore the same issue with different settings and data sources.

The advances in artificial intelligence that are transforming many fields have yet to make an impact in hearing. Hearing healthcare continues to rely on a labour-intensive service model that fails to provide access to the majority of those in need, while hearing research suffers from a lack of computational tools with the capacity to match the complexities of auditory processing. This Perspective is a call for the artificial intelligence and hearing communities to come together to bring about a technological revolution in hearing. We describe opportunities for rapid clinical impact through the application of existing technologies and propose directions for the development of new technologies to create true artificial auditory systems. There is an urgent need to push hearing towards a future in which artificial intelligence provides critical support for the testing of hypotheses, the development of therapies and the effective delivery of care worldwide. AI has impacted many fields, but hearing has lagged behind. This Perspective calls for a collaboration between the AI and hearing communities, with the goal of transforming hearing healthcare and research.

This article examines the orientation of the modern sphere of education to the process of digitalization. The relevance of the research is determined by the special significance of knowledge in the life of modern society, focused on the foundations and values of the post-industrial period. The success of the education system is greatly influenced by the level of human potential, the readiness of people to solve natural and social problems. Innovative technological processes play an important role in improving public education every year, the introduction of which contributes to the modernization and development of education, as well as improves the quality of training of future specialists and brings education closer to science. At the same time, such technological processes are designed to review existing approaches to educational activities, as well as to analyze their impact on society and individual social groups. In this regard, the study of the problems of digitalization of education and its social results is a very important area of academic research.

Entrepreneurs and blue-chip corporations alike are seeking to capitalize on outer space's bountifulness, setting the NewSpace industry's growth ablaze and establishing an engine for an economic and technological revolution. However, meaningful impediments that could stifle the industry's growth are still present. The wide array of newly forming opportunities, pursued by a myriad of actors with various interests, encourages national legislatures to regulate where current international law leaves uncertainty. Such encouragement has created a landscape of conflicting national legislations, which thereby constructs an environment of regulatory competition as states vie for the attention of the NewSpace industry. This paper assesses some of the regulatory competitions already underway as well as provides insights into likely future competitions as technology improves and interest in NewSpace grows. Ultimately, this paper finds and warns of the effects of these competitions; specifically that, in many cases, the rise of regulatory competition threatens to lower the standards of governing policies. In such circumstances, this paper foresees the growing possibility of inhibiting the development of NewSpace, an unsettling outcome and a worthy cause for concern.

Electric power systems are experiencing an unprecedented technological revolution that poses operational and commercial challenges for today's electric power industry. In this context, low voltage DC microgrid technology is attracting growing interest regarding its energy efficiency and local reliability. These microgrids support the innovation and implementation of new local electricity markets such as the emergent peer-to-peer energy trading paradigm which is perceived as a promising solution for tomorrow's power grid. Although, several pilot projects are under test, research is mainly concerned with the development of hardware and software infrastructure and the design of new business models. This paper deals with the prospects for synergies between low-voltage DC microgrid technology and P2P energy trading markets. After focusing on the fundamentals and the links between both concepts, the paper surveys the most innovative peer-to-peer electricity trading projects. A multi-aspect SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) analysis approach is conducted. Finally, the environmental impact is evaluated in a vision of sustainable and collaborative energy governance.

Abstract: The effects of penetrating the technological revolution in different spheres of life have not only affected societal, economic and political interactions, but have spread to create a new arena of unconventional wars away from the land and sea, the Cyberspace arena, where several factors have been available that have motivated some states and non-state actors to use them as instruments of conflict, competition, domination and unconventional terrorism, to the point where some analysts argue that the world's various cyber attacks may move us to a new model. From wars is called cyber war, which Russia has well used in more than one country and more than one case, as evidenced in the research. In the past few years, the Russian leadership has worked tirelessly to significantly develop and develop Russia's cyber capabilities, cleverly harnessing those capabilities as an effective weapon to inflict the required damage on the capabilities of its adversaries, making such cyber capabilities one of the strategic deterrents of the Russian State.

The role of science and technics in the life of people and society was different in different periods of civilization’s development. This article examines the specificity and dynamics of science and technics as the most important social institutions of modern civilization, which in philosophy is usually called technogenic. The author analyses the role and degree of influence of science and technics on civilization’s development over several centuries, starting with the modern era. Particular attention is paid to scientific and industrial revolutions; their main results in the social and anthropological dimensions are discussed. Further, the sociocultural functions of science in technogenic civilization are described. It is emphasized that science is gradually becoming the activity and technological foundation for culture. In addition, the paper reveals the specifics of technics as the core of technogenic civilization. The results of the joint evolution of science and technics, which are embodied in the scientific and technological progress and scientific and technological revolution, make the author of this study reflect on the consequences of modern scientific and technological development in terms of major challenges and priorities. It is argued that the key trend of this civilizational process is the Fourth Industrial Revolution based on advanced cyber-physical technologies of Industry 4.0. Moreover, the article emphasizes the acuity, ambiguity, global nature and potential of the development of science, technics and technology in the dynamics of the transition to the next technological order. It is argued that the transformations inherent in the scientific and technological development are coming in the near future and will affect all spheres of human life and society at all levels. Thus, the author concludes that considering the role of science and technics in modern civilization from a philosophical perspective will have a growing worldview and prognostic value. The aim of the article is to conceptualize, that is, to explain, analyze the meaning and indicate the framework for the interpretation of the concept of “cryptocurrency” in social sciences, including political science. As issue an interdisciplinary, polysemic and at the same time novum technological novelty, cryptocurrencies are a challenge for representatives of the world of science. The proposed heuristic model of concept analysis based on the technological, legal and economic aspect indicates that in the broad sense of cryptocurrencies it should be understood as: decentralized, functioning in a network with a peer-to-peer architecture, cryptographically secured, based on trust and consensus, type of virtual currency, that meets some of the functions of money. Explaining the content by one aspect of the functioning of cryptocurrencies is its narrowing down. Celem artykułu jest konceptualizacja, to znaczy wyjaśnienie, analiza znaczenia i wskazanie ram interpretacji pojęcia „kryptowaluty” na gruncie nauk społecznych, w tym politologii. Jako zagadnienie interdyscyplinarne, polisemiczne, a zarazem novum technologiczne, kryptowaluty stanowią wyzwanie dla przedstawicieli świata nauki. Presented is the analysis of the problem of methodology of describing of the global technological revolution (GTR). The differences between the industrial revolutions and the GTR are explained. The concepts of attributes, directions, stages and trends of GTR are analyzed and defined. The heuristic usefulness of the concept of tendency for describing the GTR mechanism is substantiated. The practical significance of the basic technical means of cognition, which is used in conducting accurate measurements, is explained. The periodization of GTR is given with the help of the proposed conceptual apparatus. The practical significance of new trends is shown. The basics of the theory of lightning war and the reasons for its creation in the era of GTR are analyzed. The reasons for the popularity of the idea of blitzkrieg in developed countries are explained. The conclusion is substantiated that the most important features of the confrontation of militarism and antimilitarism in the 20th–21st centuries are generated by new trends in the GTR.

Artificial Intelligence (AI), applied in many fields, is the core of the fourth technological revolution. In business, AI is used for customer relationship management as applied in the autoresponder systems, i.e., chatbot. Chatbots were an essential tool in the marketing relationship as many companies applied this function to their website; hence, this study analyzed the influence of chatbots on the enterprise's integrated marketing communication (IMC) activities, resulting in impulse purchase behavior and repurchase intention behavior. The mixed research method was used, particularly the in-depth interview and the survey with 886 online consumers, who shop from the online websites with chatbots system in Vietnam as Tiki, Lazada, Sendo, excetera. The research results showed that the perceived usefulness and ease of use of chatbots have positively affected the attitude of online consumers to the IMC activities of businesses. Simultaneously, IMC leads to impulse buying as well as the repurchase intention behavior of customers. The study proposed some managerial implications for an online business to enhance the chatbot functions to consumer behaviors in the website.

Actually, COVID-19 and its variants present a big challenge for the public health security. COVID-19 is a new form of the coronaviruses characterized by a set of symptoms like laboratory and radiological symptoms, when the first case has confirmed in December 2019 in Wuhan City, as well as a new variant of this form has appeared in December 2020 in the United Kingdom. Internet of things (IoT) is a technological revolution employed in different areas in the aim to serve the asked purposes. The implementation of IoT solutions in healthcare area has several benefits such as reducing the cost of services and improving treatment results. In this paper, we present a review on the impact of IoT on this new health challenge (COVID-19 and its variants), we will focus this study on the impact of the use of IoT devices to reduce transmissions of COVID-19 and its variants.

Taking these points into account, this chapter will explore how these variables may influence the online distance education milieus in terms of technoculture and transhumanism perspectives.

The purpose of this article was to analyze, how in the current stage of artificial intelligence in Brazil, it can be used in procedural law with the purpose of providing greater efficiency in the provision of jurisdiction. PurposeThe hospitality industry experienced an unanticipated challenge from the COVID-19 pandemic. However, research in this area is scarce. Accordingly, this study aims to unfold a three-angled research agenda to intensify the knowledge advancement in the hospitality sector. It proposes a theoretical framework by extending the protection motivation theory (PMT) to explain the guest’s intent to adopt artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics as a protective measure in reaction to COVID-19.Design/methodology/approachThe research is centered on outlining the pertinent literature on hospitality management practices and the guest’s transformed behavior during the current crisis. La presencia del COVID – 19 ha llevado a todo el mundo al confinamiento de manera voluntaria dentro de sus hogares. Por lo tanto, el desarrollo de las competencias digitales es primordial en el medio educativo y se ha visto la necesidad imperiosa de repensar todo el funcionamiento y posibilidades no presenciales basadas en internet a través del uso de la tecnología de la educación. Es así, que evaluar el impacto que tiene el uso de la tecnología en la educación y cómo ésta afecta el aprendizaje de los estudiantes en las instituciones educativas, no es tarea fácil. Desde que aparece el internet y las nuevas tecnologías se ha dado una verdadera revolución tecnológica en las aulas. Ahí donde antes el lápiz, el papel y los libros eran los principales protagonistas, cada vez van ganando más terreno las computadoras, las tablets y las tecnologías interactivas, por lo que, en la actualidad trae ventajas para la educación cuando se introduce la tecnología en las aulas, las cuales permiten un aprendizaje más interactivo y participativo, favoreciendo el trabajo colaborativo. Además, se abre la posibilidad de aprender a distancia y en diferentes contextos. Permite una mayor flexibilidad de horarios, posibilita que los alumnos puedan mantener un ritmo más personalizado a sus necesidades y es más fácilmente adaptable con necesidades especiales. En función a lo anteriormente mencionado, se pretende identificar como las tecnologías educativas contribuyen en las competencias digitales de los docentes.

El mundo entero está experimentando una revolución tecnológica, que atraviesa prácticamente todos los ámbitos de la experiencia humana, especialmente el de la educación. Es precisamente desde este ámbito (las ciencias educativas) donde se ha constatado que la motivación, la implicación y el autocompromiso, por nombrar algunos aspectos, son la verdadera clave para un aprendizaje significativo. Una alternativa en esta dirección, y que ya están aplicando con éxito muchos profesionales del área, es la llamada gamificación, pero tanto su aparición como su uso no han estado exentos de polémicas. A pesar de la relevancia de este emergente y controvertido recurso educativo, no existen muchas investigaciones en español que sinteticen y ofrezcan una introducción conceptual al mundo de la gamificación en el ámbito del aprendizaje. Basándonos en una revisión conceptual de las teorías existentes en el ámbito del juego y la gamificación, este artículo se propone como una breve guía teórica para introducirse en las implicaciones didácticas que tiene la gamificación como recurso de aprendizaje. A partir de la presente revisión, se constata la importancia social del juego como fenómeno formativo y la pertinencia del uso de la gamificación como recurso didáctico en los contextos de aprendizaje.

The use of many achievements of the scientific and technological revolution contains risks, including criminal ones. However, this circumstance cannot serve as an obstacle to progress, the instruments of which are these achievements. Obviously, criminal prosecution can only take place when reasonable and minimum requirements are not observed to prevent harm from being caused in a situation in which it should not be done. At the very least, the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation should not interfere with progress, but as a maximum should help it. The norms on unmanned vehicles proposed in the criminal law literature to supplement the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation are intended to serve this purpose. These vehicles imply any unmanned vehicles (UV), primarily autonomous vehicles (AV) and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), unmanned aircraft (UA). A critical analysis of these norms allows us to assert that there is no need to create our own criminal law definition of an unmanned vehicle. It is enough to use the definition that exists in the field-specific, transport legislation. The author rejects an idea to supplement the body of a crime provided for by individual articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation with the classifying element “committing a crime with the use of a UAV”. The author finds reasonable to supplement article 63 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation with a rule granting the court the right to decide at its own discretion in what kind of crime the use of the UV (AV, UAV, UA, etc.) should be considered an aggravating circumstance.

The article considers the influence of disruptive technologies as an impact factor of a modern system of cybersecurity and scientific and technological development (STI-Science, Technology and Innovation) in the conditions of the fourth industrial revolution, taking into account the experience of the BRICS countries, as well as the development of mechanisms for international scientific and technical cooperation within the BRICS. The author's finding of an inevitable development of cooperation within the framework of the BRICS group in order to improve information infrastructure and cybersecurity, ivolve national legal systems and creation of impact factors to create wide prospects for cooperation in the information sphere within the BRICS group and on a global scale. The state of information and cybersecurity will largely depend on the effectiveness of the activities of international organizations, associations of states and regional international structures. At the same time, the level of security in the information sphere, the Internet cyberspace has a direct effect on vulnerability within the national security of each BRICS member country and the entire association as a whole.

For years the technological revolution has been transforming all facets of our society. Teaching could obviously not be an exception but is quite the opposite because of its role in training the individuals of that society. Teachers at all levels of education are subjected to an adaptation process to develop the digital skills necessary for this transformation. This process must be permanent as there are still major deficiencies in teachers’ ICT knowledge and rejection of their application. This study aims to see whether the inadequacy of digital teaching skills also occurs in the Dual Vocational Training modality. To this end, a descriptive quantitative method has been carried out in a sample of teachers from the Professional Formation Dual system in the Autonomous Community of Andalusia. The results show an insufficient level of digital skills that is therefore improvable, finding some factors that influence, to some extent, the various components of digital competence such as prior teacher training, the locality in which their school resides or the category of teaching to which he belongs. Therefore, it is advised to continue to promote in-service training in digital competence for in-service teachers in order to achieve sustainable educational development.

This article, written for the special twentieth anniversary edition of Organisational and Social Dynamics, examines how the technological revolution and the pandemic are changing the shape of organisations and the future requirements from advisory services such as coaching and consulting, within the context of a PC culture and anxiety about climate change. The authors describe how AI and robotics are influencing the nature of work, replacing many jobs and enabling managers to be less operational and more strategic in orientation. The influence of the Black Lives Matter movement and the introduction of Universal Basic Income are described. The effect of the pandemic on the human psyche, on employment, poverty, homelessness, racism, and mental illness are spelt out as well as the implications for the world of work and organisational life. Attention is paid to the impact on the role of coach/coachee, using the six-domain model of coaching with predictions of how coaching may change in the future. A globalização, ancorada na Quarta Revolução Tecnológica, acompanhada de suas incertezas e riscos, enfraquece os Estados nacionais e abre espaço para novos atores globais, como as corporações, gerando também novos espaços de constitucionalização social. Neste sentido, o problema do presente artigo questiona como o fragmento do constitucionalismo corporativo enfrentará os riscos criados pelas inovações tecnológicas. Assim, este artigo objetiva identificar evidências sobre a idoneidade das corporações na atuação e no desenvolvimento de seus corporate codes of conduct. Para isso, a presente pesquisa utilizará o método fenomenológico hermenêutico, com vistas a penetrar nos fenômenos e com base nas contradições percebê-los em sociedade, sendo que os métodos de procedimento utilizados no presente trabalho serão o método histórico e o comparativo. Desta forma, as reflexões começam com a análise do comportamento da sociedade na era da Quarta Revolução Industrial. Em seguida, procura-se demonstrar as tendências de uma constitucionalização social na globalização. Ao final, busca-se alertar sobre a sociedade de risco e avaliar a idoneidade do constitucionalismo corporativo. Nesse sentido, conclui-se que há evidências que os corporate codes of conduct, em função dos interesses envolvidos, podem desenvolver um “direito corrupto”.

The scale, speed and multi-vector development of science and technology are extremely effective in influencing legal, economic, political, spiritual, professional and other social relations. The development of information and communication technologies, the use of the Internet, the creation, storage, transmission, processing and management of information became the driving forces of the new scientific and technological revolution. This facilitates the introduction of technologies for the transmission and use of information in digital form in almost all spheres of public life, namely text data, photo, audio, video images, which are transmitted in various ways via the Internet and other systems and means of communication. One of the key elements of data transmission technologies and systems is the availability of information by which it is possible to identify their subjects and objects by their inherent identification attributes. In Ukrainian legislation, in particular in the Law of Ukraine «On Personal Data Protection», information or a set of information about an individual who is or can be identified specifically is defined as personal data. However, despite its modernity, this law still contains a number of shortcomings and uncertainties, both in terminology and in the legal mechanisms for working with data by which a person can be identified, i.e. identification data.

Aim. The presented study aims to formulate the conceptual features of the implementation of transformations in the field of technology and social issues and to substantiate methods for achieving technological competitiveness of industry to ensure global technological leadership.Tasks. The authors determine the theoretical and methodological features of economic development in the context of technological and social transformations based on developing the conceptual framework of the formation of the conceptual foundations of neo-industrial society, taking into account the contradictions of the global socio-economic system in the era of technological and social transformation; comparatively analyze the preparedness of Russia and certain other countries for the fourth technological revolution; substantiate the conceptual foundations of the new phenomenon of neo-industrial society, taking into account the contradictions of the global socio-economic system in the era of technological and social transformations based on the genesis of management paradigms and theories of industrial development in Russia; analyze the development of the Russian industrial complex and the actualization of its technological transformation to ensure global leadership; formulate a conceptual framework for managing the development of industry in the context of reindustrialization and digitalization; substantiate methodological recommendations for the development and adaptation of long-term socio-economic development strategies and clarify directions for technological development in Russia.Methods. The tasks set out in the study are solved using methodological tools associated with the conceptual features of the formation of a new economic development model in transformational conditions. The authors use conventional scientific methods (induction, deduction, historical, logical, and comparative analysis, monographic description, etc.), special research methods (systems and economic analysis, synthesis, grouping and comparison, continuous and selective observation, methods of expert assessments, methods of rank statistics), as well as methods, approaches, and other scientific provisions presented in the works of scientists and researchers.Results. The results of the study aimed at developing conceptual approaches, methodology, and recommendations for the formation of new fundamental principles for the implementation of the national economic policy in the era of technological and social transformations are substantiated. Unlike other existing developments, the obtained results, make it possible to develop the conceptual foundations of a neo-industrial society to ensure technological leadership in the context of a new industrial revolution and the digital economy, which corresponds to current and projected trends in socio-economic development.Conclusions. This study expands theoretical and methodological knowledge. The authors substantiate new theoretical and methodological principles. Thus, a scientific and methodological basis for economic development in the context of transformations has been created, increasing strategic technological competitiveness. The proposed approach to the formation of methodological tools strengthens the apparatus for studying problems in the subject area and develops tools associated with integration into the national innovation system.

Digital marketing is leading the way in offering new features to reach, inform, engage, offer, and sell products and services to customers, and is expected to continue to be at the forefront of the technological revolution. The purpose of this study is to identify influential cited works in digital marketing communication (DMC) research, to determine the current status of the research on DMC, and to indicate the extent to which influential works have shaped it. This bibliometric study assesses articles published over a 12-year period in core DMC-related journals. The analysis examines 5865 citations of 141 digital-related articles in the targeted journals in the given publications using both citation and co-citation analyses. After a broad disciplinary review of key cited DMC works, this study suggests thematic insights and implications for academics and practitioners that are promising avenues for creating effective DMC.

The world is in the midst of a digital transformation. An intensified prevalence and use of digital technologies is fundamentally changing organizations and economies. However, the notion of 'digital transformation' is both theoretically and empirically underspecified. This paper rethinks the digital transformation narrative theoretically by embedding the concept in concurrent debates about technological revolutions and neo-Schumpeterian innovation theory. Empirically, the paper specifies the digital transformation by analysing the technological composition of key start-up and scale-up companies in the knowledge-intensive services sector. Undertaking a technology space analysis of 40,754 start-up and scale-up companies derived from the near real-time Dealroom.co database, we analyse which technologies and application domains are currently converging, distilling of key elements of the digital transformation. The paper concludes that the transmission of digital technologies is often indirect through ‘key enabling technology clusters’ that connect the technological vanguard to application domains.

The effect of the new development methodology is that the military technology research and development project cycle significantly accelerates, which not only allows us to seize the technological advantage in the near future, but also to create strategic surprises and a lasting strategic competitive advantage by creating completely new weapon systems and thereby maintaining a lasting strategic competitive advantage. In this way, a new type of military technology research and development process built on a significant IT base will become a key element of the military strategy of the future.

Globally, digital disruption has accelerated in the last few years. It is argued that this technological revolution would fundamentally alter our interactions with one another, our work, and our lives. The Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) can blur the boundaries between the physical and biological worlds. Although the extent of the effect is unclear, many anticipate massive changes in the economic and educational spheres. Given the close relationship between the economy and the drivers of entrepreneurship in universities, the survival of entrepreneurial universities remains contingent on the influence and preparedness of the 4IR. This review aimed to ascertain South African entrepreneurial universities’ readiness for the 4IR. Systematic literature analysis was adopted for this study; it draws on journal articles, books as wells as online publications relating to disruptive innovation, entrepreneurial universities, and 4IR. The paper argues that there is a need for a radical overhaul of the current curriculum, as retraining lecturers to prepare for 4IR disruptions.

A major milestone in the 75-year history of the nuclear industry was the construction of a nuclear power plant for the first Soviet nuclear submarine. This article, based on the report presented at the General Meeting of the Russian Academy of Sciences on December 8, 2020, focuses on the role of science in solving this new for that time, complex, multifaceted problem. It is emphasized that collaboration between the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Navy has always resulted in effective solutions to problems of developing all types of naval forces, most intensively, submarine forces. The close interaction between scientific structures and the Navy became fully-fledged in the era of the scientific and technological revolution, which began and developed rapidly in the period characterized by confrontation between two opposing military-political blocs—the Soviet Union and the United States.
