Several metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) excel in harvesting water from the air or as heat pumps as they show a steep increase in water uptake at 10-30 % relative humidity (RH%). A precise understanding of which structural characteristics govern such behavior is lacking. Herein, CAU-10-H and CAU-10-CH3 are studied with -H, -CH3 corresponding to the functions grafted to the organic linker. CAU-10-H shows a steep water uptake approximate to 18 RH% of interest for water harvesting, yet the subtle replacement of -H by -CH3 in the organic linker drastically changes the water adsorption behavior to less steep water uptake at much higher humidity values. The materials' structural deformation and water ordering during adsorption with in situ sum-frequency generation, in situ X-ray diffraction, and molecular simulations are unraveled. In CAU-10-H, an energetically favorable water cluster is formed in the hydrophobic pore, tethered via H-bonds to the framework mu-OH groups, while for CAU-10-CH3, such a favorable cluster cannot form. By relating the findings to the features of water adsorption isotherms of a series of MOFs, it is concluded that favorable water adsorption occurs when sites of intermediate hydrophilicity are present in a hydrophobic structure, and the formation of energetically favorable water clusters is possible.

The synthetic flexibility of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with high loading capacities and biocompatibility makes them ideal candidates as drug delivery systems (DDSs). Here, we report the use of CAU-7, a biocompatible bismuth-based MOF, for the delivery of two cancer drugs, sodium dichloroacetate (DCA) and α-cyano-4-hydroxycinnamic acid (α-CHC). We achieved loadings of 33 and 9 wt % for DCA and α-CHC, respectively. Interestingly, CAU-7 showed a gradual release of the drugs, achieving a release time of up to 17 days for DCA and 31 days for α-CHC. We then performed mechanical and thermal amorphization processes to attempt to delay the delivery of guest molecules even more. With the thermal treatment, we were able to achieve an outstanding 32% slower release of α-CHC from the thermally treated CAU-7. Using in vitro studies and endocytosis inhibitors, confocal microscopy, and fluorescence-activated cell sorting, we also demonstrated that CAU-7 was successfully internalized by cancer cells, partially avoiding lysosome degradation. Finally, we showed that CAU-7 loaded either with DCA or α-CHC had a higher therapeutic efficiency compared with the free drug approach, making CAU-7 a great option for biomedical application.

doi:10.26434/chemrxiv.13252544.v2, We report on the results of a thorough in situ synchrotron powder X-ray diffraction study of the crystallisation in aqueous medium of two recently discovered perfluorinated Ce(IV)-based metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), analogues of the already well investigated Zr(IV)-based UiO-66 and MIL-140A, namely, F4_UiO-66(Ce) and F4_MIL-140A(Ce). The two MOFs were originally obtained in pure form in similar conditions, using ammonium cerium nitrate and tetrafluoroterephthalic acid as reagents, and small variations of the reaction parameters were found to yield mixed phases. Here, we investigate the crystallisation of these compounds in situ in a wide range of conditions, varying parameters such as temperature, amount of the protonation modulator nitric acid (HNO3) and amount of the coordination modulator acetic acid (AcOH). When only HNO3 is present in the reaction environment, F4_MIL-140A(Ce) is obtained as a pure phase. Heating preferentially accelerates nucleation, which becomes rate determining below 57 °C, whereas the modulator influences nucleation and crystal growth to a similar extent. Upon addition of AcOH to the system, alongside HNO3, mixed-phased products, consisting of F4_MIL-140A(Ce) and F4_UiO-66(Ce), are obtained. In these conditions, F4_UiO-66(Ce) is always formed faster and no interconversion between the two phases occurs. In the case of F4_UiO-66(Ce), crystal growth is always the rate determining step. An increase in the amount of HNO3 slows down both nucleation and growth rates for F4_MIL-140A(Ce), whereas nucleation is mainly affected for F4_UiO-66(Ce). In addition, a higher amount HNO3 favours the formation of F4_MIL-140A(Ce). Similarly, increasing the amount of AcOH leads to slowing down of the nucleation and growth rate, but favours the formation of F4_UiO-66(Ce). The pure F4_UiO-66(Ce) phase could also be obtained when using larger amounts of AcOH in the presence of minimal HNO3. Based on these in situ results, a new optimised route to achieving a pure, high quality F4_MIL-140A(Ce) phase in mild conditions (60 °C, 1 h) is also identified.

A highly porous and stable Zr-MOF containing a planar porphyrin-based tetraphosphonic acid was synthesized and characterized regarding its sorption properties and chemical stability., The Ni-metallated porphyrin-based tetraphosphonic acid (Ni-tetra(4-phosphonophenyl)porphyrin, Ni-H8TPPP) was used for the synthesis of highly porous metal phosphonates containing the tetravalent cations Zr4+ and Hf4+. The compounds were thoroughly characterized regarding their sorption properties towards N2 and H2O as well as thermal and chemical stability. During the synthesis optimization the reaction time could be substantially decreased under stirring from 24 to 3 h in glass vials. M-CAU-30, [M2(Ni-H2TPPP)(OH/F)2]·H2O (M = Zr, Hf) shows exceptionally high specific surface areas for metal phosphonates of aBET = 1070 and 1030 m2 g–1 for Zr- and Hf-CAU-30, respectively, which are very close/correspond to the theoretical values of 1180 and 1030 m2 g–1. CAU-30 is always obtained as mixtures with one mol ZrO2/HfO2 per formula unit as proven by TEM, electron diffraction, TG and elemental analysis. Hence experimentally derived specific surface areas are 970 and 910 m2 g–1, respectively. M-CAU-30 is chemically stable in the pH range 0 to 12 in HCl/NaOH and thermally up to 420 °C in air as determined by variable-temperature powder X-ray diffraction (VT-PXRD). The crystal structure of M-CAU-30 was determined by combining electron diffraction tomography for structure solution and powder X-ray diffraction data for the structure refinement. The crystal structure consists of chains of corner sharing MO6 octahedra interconnected by the partly deprotonated linker molecules Ni-H2TPPP6–. Thus 1D channels with pore diameters of 1.3 × 2.0 nm are formed. The redox activity of Zr-CAU-30 was investigated by cyclic voltammetry resulting in a reversible redox process at a half-wave potential of E1/2 = –0.649 V.

Efficient use of energy for cooling applications is a very important and challenging field in science. Ultra-low temperature actuated (Tdriving, Ultra-low-temperature-actuated adsorption-driven chillers that rely on water as the cooling agent are desirable for energy-efficient and environmentally benign cooling devices. Here the authors show that the metal–organic framework of composition [Al(OH)(C6H2O4S)] displays high water uptake capacity, high stability, and driving temperatures as low as 60 °C.

In September 2018, the First EuropeanWorkshop on Metal Phosphonates Chemistry brought together some prominent researchers in the field of metal phosphonates and phosphinates with the aim of discussing past and current research e orts and identifying future directions. The scope of this perspective article is to provide a critical overview of the topics discussed during the workshop, which are divided into two main areas: synthesis and characterisation, and applications. In terms of synthetic methods, there has been a push towards cleaner and more e cient approaches. This has led to the introduction of high-throughput synthesis and mechanochemical synthesis. The recent success of metal–organic frameworks has also promoted renewed interest in the synthesis of porous metal phosphonates and phosphinates. Regarding characterisation, the main advances are the development of electron di raction as a tool for crystal structure determination and the deployment of in situ characterisation techniques, which have allowed for a better understanding of reaction pathways. In terms of applications, metal phosphonates have been found to be suitable materials for several purposes: they have been employed as heterogeneous catalysts for the synthesis of fine chemicals, as solid sorbents for gas separation, notably CO2 capture, as materials for electrochemical devices, such as fuel cells and rechargeable batteries, and as matrices for drug delivery.

Catalysis science & technology 9(8), 2025 - 2031 (2019). doi:10.1039/C8CY02430H, In situ X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) investigations have been performed to provide insights into the reaction mechanism of a palladium(II) catalyzed undirected C–H acetoxylation reaction in the presence of an oxidant. A Pd(II) N-heterocyclic carbene complex π-stacked onto reduced graphene oxide (rGO) was used as the catalyst. The Pd speciation during the catalytic process was examined by XAS, which revealed a possible mechanism over the course of the reaction. Pd(II) complexes in the as-synthesized catalyst first go through a gradual ligand substitution where chloride ions bound to Pd(II) are replaced by other ligands with a mean bond distance to Pd matching Pd–C/N/O. Parallel to this the mean oxidation state of Pd increases indicating the formation of Pd(IV) species. At a later stage, a fraction of the Pd complexes start to slowly transform into Pd nanoclusters. The mean average oxidation state of Pd decreases to the initial state at the end of the experiment which means that comparable amounts of Pd(0) and Pd(IV) are present. Two coordination compounds were obtained from the symmetrical linkers (2,6- and 3,5-pyridinedicarboxylic acid). The former is based on molecular Al-O dimers, similar to those reported in the coordination polymer CAU-16. The latter forms a porous extended framework and is a member of the CAU-10 family of compounds. Full characterization of both compounds is reported. Crystal structures were determined from high-resolution synchrotron powder diffraction data. The number of guest water molecules determined crystallographically is in excellent agreement with the number found by thermogravimetric and elemental analyses. Anchoring of acidic functional groups to organic linkers acting as ligands in metal phosphonates has been demonstrate to be a valid strategy to develop new proton conductor materials, which exhibit tunable properties and are potentially applicable to proton exchange membranes, such as those used in PEMFCs [1,2]. In this work, the structural and proton conductivity properties of several families of divalent and trivalent metal amino-sulfophosphonates are presented. The chosen ligand, (H2O3PCH2)2-N-(CH2)2-SO3H, was reacted with the appropriate metal salt using highthrough-put screening and/or microwave-assisted synthesis. Different crystal structures haven been solved displaying a variety of metal ligand coordination modes, in whose frameworks acidic groups contribute to create strong H-bond networks; together with lattice and bound water molecules. Proton conductivity values oscillate between 10-4 and 10-2 S.cm-1, at 80 ºC and 95 % relative humidity, most of them showing activation energies characteristic of a Grotthuss-type proton transport mechanism. This study describes the porous MOFs Cu(2)H(4)STPPA.2 H2O (1.2 H2O), Zn(2)H(4)STPPA (2) and Zn(2)H(4)MTPPA (3) obtained using the tetrahedral linkers tetraphenylmethane tetrakis-4-phosphonic acid (H(8)MTTPA) and tetraphenylsilane tetrakis-4-phosphonic acid (H(8)STPPA) under solvothermal conditions. X-ray structures reveal 3D frameworks with large assessable voids. The percentage void volumes and the specific BET surface areas of 1 (48.7 %, 794 m(2)/g), 2 (48.1 %, 565 m(2)/g) and 3 (51.3 %, 927 m(2)/g) predicted by molecular simulations are among the highest reported for MOFs derived from phosphonic acids.

Stable microporous aluminium‐based metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) present promising water sorption properties for this goal. The development of synthesis routes that make use of available and affordable building blocks and avoid the use of organic solvents is crucial to advance this field. In this work, two scalable synthesis routes under mild reaction conditions were developed for aluminium‐based MOFs: (1) in aqueous solutions using a continuous‐flow reactor and (2) through the vapour‐assisted conversion of solid precursors. Fumaric acid, its methylated analogue mesaconic acid, as well as mixtures of the two were used as linkers to obtain polymorph materials with tuneable water sorption properties. The synthesis conditions determine the crystal structure and either the MIL‐53 or MIL‐68 type structure with square‐grid or kagome‐grid topology, respectively, is formed. Fine‐tuning resulted in new MOF materials thus far inaccessible through conventional synthesis routes. Das Ziel dieser Arbeit war die Synthese und Charakterisierung von Metallphosphonatosulfonaten und Metallphosphonaten zur Erforschung ihrer Eigenschaften als Protonenleiter. Der Schwerpunkt lag dabei auf der explorativen Synthese von neuen Verbindungen dieser Stoffklassen und die Aufklärung ihrer Kristallstruktur sowie der zugrundeliegenden Strukturmotive. Zu Beginn waren lediglich Metallphosphonatosulfonate bekannt, deren Liganden nicht mehr als zwei Säurefunktionen aufweisen, Liganden mit drei oder vier Schwefel- oder Phosphonsäurefunktionen waren unbekannt. Die Protonenleitenden Eigenschaften der gefundenen Verbindungen sollten im Rahmen einer Kooperation mit den Universitäten Oldenburg und Paderborn erforscht werden. Insgesamt wurden 15 neue Verbindungen aus der Substanzklasse der Metallphosphonate und Metallphosphonatosulfonate entdeckt und ausführlich charakterisiert. Mit dem Linker H5L1 ([5‐(Phosphonomethyl)‐2,4-bis(sulfonomethyl)phenyl]-methansulfonsäure, (HO3S‐CH2)3‐C6H2‐CH2PO3H2), der im Rahmen einer Kooperation mit dem Arbeitskreis von Prof Dr. Lüning von Dr. Ole Beyer zur Verfügung gestellt wurde, konnten fünf neue Koordinationspolymere der Zusammensetzung ([Mg2(HL1)(H2O)6], [Pb4(L1)(OH)3], [Ba2(H2L1)(OH)(H2O)], [Ba2(HL1)(H2O)4], und [Cd2.5(L1)(H2O)7]) erhalten werden. Bei der Synthese stellte sich mittels Hochdurchsatzuntersuchungen schnell heraus, dass ein Lösungsmittelgemisch von Wasser und Ethanol zur Auskristallisation dieser Verbindungen gut geeignet ist. Während die Struktur von [Ba2(HL1)(H2O)4] ab initio aus Röntgenpulverbeugungsdaten aufgeklärt werden konnte, waren die Strukturen der anderen Verbindungen durch Einkristallröntgenbeugung zugänglich. In jeder Struktur wurde dabei eine statistische Besetzung der P/S-Positionen in einem Verhältnis von 0,25 zu 0,75 festgestellt. Eine detaillierte Beschreibung und Analyse der Kristallstrukturen konnte in der Zeitschrift für angewandte und anorganische Chemie (ZAAC) unter dem Titel „Five New Coordination Polymers with a Bifunctional Phosphonate‐Sulfonate Linker Molecule“ veröffentlicht werden. Im Zuge der weiteren Untersuchung dieser Substanzklasse wurde der bis dahin in der Literatur unbekannte Linker H5L2 (H2O3PO3)2N-CH2C6H4SO3H, 4-{[Bis(phosphonomethyl)amino]-methyl}benzolsulfonsäure) dargestellt, woraufhin vier neue Koordinationspolymere synthetisiert und vollständig charakterisiert werden konnten. Die Strukturen der Verbindungen [Mg(H3L2)(H2O)2]·H2O, [Mg2(HL2)(H2O)6]·2H2O, [Ba(H3L2)(H2O)]·H2O und [Pb2(HL2)]·H2O waren über Einkristallstrukturanalyse zugänglich. Im Falle des [Pb2(HL2)]·H2O konnte das erste poröse Phosphonatosulfonat entdeckt werden. Eine umfassende Diskussion und Einordnung der Kristallstrukturen, Charakterisierung und Beschreibung der Sorptionseigenschaften von [Pb2(HL2)]∙H2O wurde in der Zeitschrift Dalton Transactions unter dem Titel „Permanent porosity and role of sulfonate groups in coordination networks constructed from a new polyfunctional phosphonato-sulfonate linker molecule“ veröffentlicht. Da die Verbindung [Ba(H3L2)(H2O)]·H2O stets in Einkristallen mit außerordentlich großen Ausmaßen erhalten werden kann, erfolgte die Untersuchung der protonenleitenden Eigenschaften dieser Verbindung am Einkristall. Die Ergebnisse konnten unter dem Titel „Proton Conduction in a Single Crystal of a Phosphonato‐sulfonate‐based Coordination Polymer: Mechanistic Insight“ in der Zeitschrift ChemPhysChem veröffentlicht werden. Weiterhin wurden vier neue Metall-organische Gerüstverbindungen mit der dafür eigens hergestellten, bis dahin unbekannten Tetraphosphonsäure H8TPPE (1,1,2,2-Tetrakis[4-phosphonophenyl]ethylen) synthetisiert und charakterisiert. Die Strukturen der Verbindungen CAU-46 ([Ni2(H4TPPE)(H2O)6]·4H2O) und CAU-47 ([Co2(H4TPPE)(H2O)4]·3H2O) wurden über eine Kombination aus Elektronenbeugung und Röntgenpulverbeugung aufgeklärt, während für M-CAU-48 ([M2(H4TPPE)]·xH2O mit M2+=Ni, Co; x=9, 6) nur ein Strukturmodell erhalten wurde. Die Ausbildung des für Metallphosphonate typischen Schichtmotivs konnte durch die Geometrie des Liganden unterbunden werden. Alle Verbindungen sind gegenüber Wasser porös und weisen bei thermischer Aktivierung ein komplexes Umwandlungsverhalten auf. Synthese und Charakterisierung, Strukturen und strukturelle Variabilität konnten in der Zeitschrift Inorganic Chemistry unter dem Titel „A tetratopic phosphonic acid for the synthesis of permanently porous MOFs: reactor size dependent product formation and crystal structure elucidation via electron diffraction“ veröffentlicht werden.

In der Dissertation werden Ergebnisse zur Beschreibung der Realstruktur und der physikalischen Eigenschaften ausgewählter Übergangsmetalldichalkogenide vorgestellt. Die Schichtstrukturen der Verbindungen MoS2 und WS2 zeigen häufig ausgeprägte Stapelfehlordnung. Um diese zu beschreiben wurde der Ansatz der Superzelle gewählt, in den Messdaten aus Röntgenbeugung und Totalstreuung eingeflossen sind. Das Halbmetall HfTe2 wurde im Hinblick auf seine Magnetotransporteigenschaften untersucht, wobei ein ausgeprägter positiver magnetoresistiver Effekt nachgewiesen werden konnte. Die magnetischen wie auch die Magnetotransporteigenschaften des ferromagnetischen Metalls Fe1/3TaS2 wurden umfassend untersucht und im Kontext von struktureller Ordnung und Stöchiometrie der Probe diskutiert. This thesis contains results on the description of the real structure as well as physical properties of selected transition metal dichalcogenides. The layered structures of the compounds MoS2 and WS2 are known to be prone to stacking disorder. For modelling thereof the so called supercell approach was chosen and data of both X-ray diffraction and total scattering were included. The semimetal HfTe2 was studied with respect to its magnetotransport properties, revealing a pronounced positive magnetoresistance effect. The magnetic as well as magnetotransport properties of the ferromagnetic metal Fe1/3TaS2 were studied in detail and discussed in the context of its structural order as well as sample stoichiometry.

Polyoxovanadate (POVs) stellen eine Untergruppe der Polyoxometallate dar und sind durch eine große Struktur- und Zusammensetzungsvielfalt gekennzeichnet. Durch das erste wasserlösliche antimonsubstituierte POV, {Ni(en)3}3[V15Sb6O42(H2O)x]·≈15 H2O (Ni-{V15Sb6}) (en = ethylendiamin) ergab sich eine völlig neue synthetische Chemie für Postfunktionalisierungsreaktionen, welche vorher nicht möglich war. Die vorliegende Dissertation fokussiert sich auf die Synthese und Charakterisierung neuer Heterometall-POVs (Sb-POVs und Ge/Sb-POVs), welche durch Verwendung der Precursoren Ni-{V15Sb6} und {Zn(en)3}3[V15Sb6O42(H2O)]·3 en·10 H2O (Zn-{V15Sb6}) hergestellt werden konnten. Die Vorläuferverbindung Zn-{V15Sb6} wurde im Laufe der Arbeit synthetisiert und charakterisiert und ist im Vergleich zu Ni-{V15Sb6} besser löslich sowie deutlich stabiler in wässriger Lösung. Die umfassende Charakterisierung der gelösten Spezies gelang mit Elektrosprayionisations-Massenspektrometrie (ESI-MS) Untersuchungen in Zusammenarbeit mit ULRIKE WARZOK und CHRISTOPH A. SCHALLEY (FU Berlin). Die Ergebnisse belegen, dass sich beide Precursoren langsam in den {V14Sb8O42}-Cluster umwandeln, wobei diese Umwandlung bei Zn-{V15Sb6} sehr viel langsamer verläuft. Die Umwandlung kann beschleunigt werden, wenn der pH-Wert erniedrigt wird. Diese Befunde eröffneten völlig neue Perspektiven für die gezielte Synthese neuer Verbindungen. Besonders spektakulär ist die Verbindung {Ni(cyclen)(en)}2[V14Sb8O42(H2O)]·ca 10 H2O, diese enthält ein neues Konfigurationsisomer des {V14Sb8O42}-Clusters als herausragendes Strukturmotiv. Während normalerweise die Spitzen der {VO5}-Pyramiden der Cluster nach außen weisen, zeigt eine {VO5}-Pyramide des neuen Isomers nach innen. Diese Ausrichtung des {VO5}-Polyeders wird durch die kurzen Sb-O-Abstände zwischen zwei benachbarten Clustern verursacht, so dass ein Dimer ausgebildet wird. ESI-MS-Untersuchungen beweisen, dass das Dimer auch in Lösung vorhanden ist. Polyoxovanadates (POVs) are a subgroup of polyoxometallates characterized by a fascinating structural variety and flexible compositions. The discovery of the first water-soluble antimony-substituted POV (Sb-POV), {Ni(en)3}3[V15Sb6O42(H2O)x]∙≈15 H2O (Ni-{V15Sb6}) (en = ethylenediamine) resulted in a completely new synthetic chemistry of post-functionalization reactions, which was previously not possible. The present dissertation focuses on the synthesis and characterization of new hetero-POVs (Sb-POVs and Ge/Sb-POVs) by using the precursors Ni-{V15Sb6} and {Zn(en)3}3[V15Sb6O42(H2O)]∙ 3 en∙10 H2O (Zn-{V15Sb6}). The precursor Zn-{V15Sb6} was synthesized and characterized during this work and the main characteristics are the better solubility compared to Ni-{V15Sb6} and a significantly enhanced stability in aqueous solution. The extensive characterization of the dissolved species was achieved by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) in collaboration with ULRIKE WARZOK and CHRISTOPH A. SCHALLEY (FU Berlin). The results demonstrated that both precursors slowly transform into the {V14Sb8O42}-cluster, and this process is much slower for Zn-{V15Sb6}. The conversion can be accelerated by lowering the pH value. These investigations opened up completely unexpected perspectives for the targeted synthesis of new compounds. Particularly noteworthy is {Ni(cyclen)(en)}2[V14Sb8O42(H2O)]·ca 10 H2O, which contains a new configurational isomer of the {V14Sb8O42}-cluster as prominent structural motif. While normally the vanadyl group of the {VO5} pyramids point outward, one {VO5} pyramid of the new isomer faces inward. This arrangement of the {VO5} polyhedron is caused by the short Sb-O distances between two neighboring clusters, forming a dimer. ESI-MS investigations proved that the dimer is also present in solution.

Die Dissertation behandelt Untersuchungen zur photokatalytischen Wasserstofferzeugung mit Hilfe von CuCo2S4 geträgert auf TiO2 und Untersuchungen der sensitisierten photokatalytischen Wasserstofferzeugung mit zwei verschiedenen Oxothiostannaten. Enthalten ist auch die Untersuchung der photokatalytische Degradation des Farbstoffs y-Eosin mit Hilfe von ZnCr2O4. The thesis deals with photocatalytic hydrogen generation studies using CuCo2S4 supported on TiO2 and sensitized photocatalytic hydrogen generation studies with two different oxothiostannates. Also included is the investigation of the photocatalytic degradation of the dye y-Eosin using ZnCr2O4.

Die hier beschriebene Arbeit befasst sich mit der Konstruktion und dem wissenschaftlichen Einsatz eines Reaktorsetups zur Analyse chemischer Reaktionen unter solvothermalen Bedingungen anhand röntgenbasierter Analysemethoden bis zu einer Maximaltemperatur von 180 °C. Der Reaktor basiert dabei auf kommerziell erhältlichen Reaktionsgefäßen (Vmax = 5 und 10 ml), die sich bereits in Synthesen in Laborumgebungen etabliert haben. Neben den Reaktionsgefäßen, die eine Operation nah an Laborbedingungen gestatten, wurde das Setup konzipiert mit einem Fokus auf die parallele Analyse chemischer Reaktionen mit mehreren Methoden. Die Einbindungen der Möglichkeiten Flüssigkeiten und Feststoffe während der Reaktion hinzudosieren, gestatten dabei eine breite Anwendbarkeit für eine Vielzahl unterschiedlicher experimenteller Aufgabestellungen. Nach der initialen Testphase wurde das Reaktorsetup für eine Reihe von Untersuchungen im Bereich von Reaktionen Koordinationspolymere eingesetzt und dabei zugrundeliegende Reaktionskinetiken und –mechanismen untersucht. Dabei wurden die der Kristallisation von CAU-15-cit ([Al2(OH)4(O2C-C3H4-CO2)]· n H2O) zugrundeliegenden Mechanismen untersucht. In einer weiteren Studie wurde die sukzessive Zersetzung und Umwandlung der Verbindung Ce-DUT-67 ([Ce6(μ3 O)4(μ3-OH)4(PZDC)4(OH)4(H2O)4], mit PZDC2- = 3,5-Pyrazoldicarboxylat) zu Cer(III)formiat ([Ce(O2CH)3]) untersucht. Darüber hinaus wurde die Umwandlung von UTSA 74 ([Zn2(dobdc)(G)2], mit dobdc4- = 2,5-Dihydroxiterephthalat und G = koordiniertes Gastmolekül) unter wässrigen Bedingungen und folgender Bildung von MOF-74 ([Zn2(dobdc)(G)2], mit dobdc4- = 2,5-Dihydroxiterephthalat und G = koordiniertes Gastmolekül) analysiert. In einer kombinierten XRD/XAS Untersuchung an einem Palladiumkatalysator, der auf Cr-MIL-101und Cr-MIL-88B immobilisiert eingesetzt wurde, konnte die Evolution des Katalysators während einer Heck-Kupplungsreaktion verfolgt werden. This thesis deals with the construction and application of a reactor setup aimed at the analysis of chemical reactions under solvothermal conditions. Regarding accessible reaction conditions, the reactor features a maximum temperature of 180 °C and is designed for the analysis of chemical reactions using X-ray based characterization techniques. The reactor is based on commercially available reaction vessels of two sizes (Vmax = 5 und 10 ml) that have already been well established in common laboratory practice. In addition to these reaction vessels that enable experiments close to laboratory conditions, the setup has been designed with a focus on the parallel analysis of reactions with multiple analysis methods. Furthermore, the incorporation of a solid and a liquid dosing system to change chemical parameters during the experiment enables its use for a broad spectrum of scientific questions. After an initial test phase, the reactor setup was employed in a variety of different studies involving coordination polymers (and metal-organic frameworks) to determine underlying reaction kinetics and reaction mechanisms. In the course of these studies the crystallization mechanisms underlying the formation of a new compound denoted CAU-15-cit ([Al2(OH)4(O2C-C3H4-CO2)]· n H2O) were studied. In an additional study the decomposition and subsequent transformation of Ce-DUT-67 ([Ce6(μ3 O)4(μ3-OH)4(PZDC)4(OH)4(H2O)4], with PZDC2- = 3,5-pyrazoledicarboxylate) to Ce(III)formiate ([Ce(O2CH)3]) was analysed. Furthermore, the conversion of UTSA-74 ([Zn2(dobdc)(G)2], with dobdc4- = 2,5-dihydroxiterephthalate and G = coordinated guest molecule) to its polymorph MOF-74 ([Zn2(dobdc)(G)2], with dobdc4- = 2,5-dihydroxiterephthalate and G = coordinated guest molecule) in aqueous medium was studied. In a combined XAS/XRD study on a palladium catalyst immobilized on Cr-MIL-101 and Cr-MIL-88B the evolution of the palladium catalyst was followed during a Heck coupling reaction.

Phasenwechselmaterialien werden in optischen und elektrischen Datenspeichern eingesetzt. Der Schaltvorgang zum Schreiben der Daten erfolgt mit kurzen, intensiven Laser- oder Strompulsen zwischen einer amorphen und einer kristallinen Phase. Die optischen und elektrischen Eigenschaften dieser beiden Phasen unterscheiden sich signifikant voneinander, sodass die Daten mit schwachen Laser- oder Strompulsen ausgelesen werden können. Das Ziel der Arbeiten war Struktur-Eigenschaftsbeziehungen aufzuzeigen, die beim Design zukünftiger Datenspeichermaterialien helfen können. Es wurden dünne Filme von Phasenwechselmaterialien mit Cosputtern oder Coverdampfen auf unterschiedlichen Substraten hergestellt. Neben den literaturbekannten Verbindungen GeTe, Ge2Sb2Te5, Ge8Sb2Te11, Sn8Sb2Te11 und SnSb2Se4 wurden insgesamt neun weitere Materialien durch chemische Substitution einzelner Elemente synthetisiert. Verglichen mit den jeweiligen Ausgangsmaterialien wurden die Hybridisierung und die Ionizität der chemischen Bindungen variiert, welche für die Eigenschaften von Phasenwechselmaterialien essentiell und in der sogenannten Schatzkarte zur Identifizierung geeigneter Materialien aufgetragen sind. Die bisher unbekannten Verbindungen konnten umfassend charakterisiert und die Phasenwechseltemperaturen, die Kristallstrukturen, die optischen Konstanten, die elektronischen Bandlücken, der optische und elektrische Kontrast sowie das magnetoresistive Verhalten bestimmt werden. Laserschaltversuche dienten zur Überprüfung der Reversibilität des Phasenwechsels und der Schaltgeschwindigkeit. Phase change materials are used in optical and electrical data storage devices. These materials can rapidly and reversibly be switched between an amorphous and a crystalline state by applying short, intense laser pulses or high electrical current pulses. The optical and electrical properties of the two phases are remarkably different so that laser and current pulses can be used to read out information. The aim of this work was to characterize new compounds and to reveal structure-property relations which can help to design future data storage materials. All materials were prepared as thin films using sputter deposition or co-evaporation on different substrates. In addition to the well-known compounds GeTe, Ge2Sb2Te5, Ge8Sb2Te11, Sn8Sb2Te11 and SnSb2Se4, nine new compounds were synthesized via chemical substitution of single elements. Consequently, the hybridization and ionicity of bonding, which are essential for the materials properties, were altered and used to upgrade the so-called treasure map to identify suitable phase change materials. For each synthesized material, the phase change temperatures, the crystal structures, the optical constants, the electronic band gaps, the optical and electrical contrast as well as the magnetoresistive behavior were determined. Femtosecond laser pulses were used to investigate the reversibility of phase changes and switching speeds.

Die vorliegende Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit den Materialien welche das Herzstück der sogenannten Adsorptionswärmepumpen bzw. –kältemaschinen bilden. Diese Technik wurde, besonders durch neue Materialklassen, welche erst in den letzten Jahrzehnten entdeckt wurden, neu belebt. Diese Technik basiert auf der reversiblen Adsorption von Gasen wobei zusätzlich Verdampfungs- und Kondensationsprozesse eine wichtige Rollen spielen. Die Wärme bzw. Kälte die dabei freigesetzt wird, kann abgeführt und genutzt werden. Die erste untersuchte Verbindung gehört zur Klasse der Metall-organischen Gerüstverbindungen (MOF, engl. metal-organic framework) und wurde 2013 von H. Reinsch entdeckt und auf den Namen CAU 10 getauft. Die bis dahin nur in einer Synthese mit dem giftigen Lösungsmittel Dimethylformamid erhältliche Verbindung wurde im Rahmen dieser Arbeit auf eine „grüne“ Art hergestellt. Außerdem gelang es, die Verbindung in großen Mengen herzustellen. Es wurde u. a. ein Wärmetauscher beschichtet und dessen Leistungsdaten in einem Test gemessen. Das Material zeigt herausragende Eigenschaften für den Einsatz in Adsorptionskältemaschinen. Die Optimierung schon bekannter Synthesen und Verbindungen ist nicht das einzige Feld auf dem geforscht wurde. Mit der Verbindung CAU-23, welche im Rahmen dieser Arbeit entdeckt wurde, konnte eine neue, für die Anwendung sehr interessante Verbindung entdeckt werden, welche eine neue, bisher unbekannte anorganische Baueinheit für Al-MOFs enthält. CAU-23 zeigt, insbesondere durch seine niedrige nötige Antriebstemperatur und seine große Aufnahmekapazität exzellente Eigenschaften für die Anwendung in Adsorptionskältemaschinen. Eine Besonderheit der Aluminium MOFs, welche für diese Art von Soprtionsanwendungen diskutiert werden, ist ihre strukturelle Flexibilität bei Wasseraufnahme bzw. -abgabe. Um dies weiter zu untersuchen wurde für die 2015 gefundenen Verbindung MIL-160 die strukturelle Änderung bei Wasseraufnahme im Detail untersucht.

Das Thema der hier vorliegenden Arbeit ist die Synthese und Charakterisierung von Zirkonium-basierten Metall-organischen Gerüstverbindungen (Zr-MOFs), insbesondere die Entdeckung und Syntheseoptimierung neuer Verbindungen mit stickstoffhaltigen Heterozyklen als Linkermoleküle. Zunächst war es möglich mit den Linkermolekülen 2,5-Pyridindicarbonsäure (H2PDC), 2,5-Pyrazindicarbonsäure (H2PzDC) und Azopyridindicarbonsäure (H2APDC) jeweils die Verbindungen M-UiO-66-PDC ([M6(O)4(OH)4(Cl)2x(H2O)2x(PDC)6-x], mit M = Zr, Hf und Ce, CAU-22-PzDC ([Zr6(μ3-O)4(μ3-OH)4(μ-OH)2(OH)2(H2O)2(HCO2)2(PzDC)3]) und M-CAU-39-APDC ([M12(μ3-O)8(μ3-OH)8(μ2-OH)6(OH)6(H2O)6(APDC)3]) mit M = Zr und Hf herzustellen. Für alle Verbindungen wurde eine wässrige Syntheseroute entwickelt, die sich nur marginal in der Menge an Additiven, Reaktionszeit und -temperatur unterscheiden. Die Strukturen der Verbindungen wurden mittels Rietfeld-Verfeinerung bestimmt. Hierbei sind insbesondere die anorganischen Baueinheiten (IBUs) der einzelnen MOFs hervorzuheben. Die IBU in der Kristallstruktur von UiO-66-PDC ist der bekannte hexanucleare {Zr6(O)4(OH)4}-Cluster, dessen wässrige Synthese mit einem Pyridinderivat allerdings neu ist. Die IBU von CAU-22-PzDC ist bisher einmalig und besteht aus kondensierten hexanuclearen Zr-O-Clustern, die durch verbrückende OH-- Ionen eine Kette von {Zr6O4(OH)4(μ-OH)2}-Clustern bilden. Die IBU von CAU-39 besteht aus kondensierten hexanuclearen Zr-O-Clustern, allerdings nur zu einem dodecanuclearen {M12(μ3-O)8(μ3-OH)8(μ2-OH)6}-Cluster.

Die vorliegende Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit der Synthese und Charakterisierung von Porphyrin-basierten Metall-Organischen Gerüstverbindungen (MOFs). Dabei wurden zwei verschiedene Linkermoleküle verwendet, zum einen die Porphyrin-basierte Carbonsäure Tetra(4-carboxyphenyl)porphyrin (H6TCPP) und die erstmalig synthetisierte Ni-metallierte Porphyrin-basierte Tetraphosphonsäure Ni Tetra(4-phosphonophenyl)porphyrin (Ni-H8TPPP). Mit dem H6TCPP Linker konnten isostrukturelle Verbindungen zu dem bereits bekannten Al-PMOF [Al2(OH)2(H2TCPP)] mit Ga3+, In3+ und Ce3+ erhalten werden. Ga- und In-PMOF sind porös gegenüber N2 bei 77 K: 1150-1400 m2 g-1 (Al-PMOF (1400 m2 g-1)). Unter Einsatz von NH4[CeIV(NO3)6] und dem H6TCPP Linker wurden drei weitere MOFs entdeckt. Es gelang unter Verwendung unterschiedlich funktionalisierter Benzoesäuren (HBA-X, X= H, 2-Cl, 3-Cl, 4-Cl, 3-CO2H, 4-NH2, HBA = C7H4O2) die Synthese von CAU-19-X, [Ce3(H2TCPP)2(BA-X)(HBA-X/H2O)2] · 2 HBAX · n H2O (mit X = H, 2-Cl, 3-Cl, 4-Cl, 3 CO2H, 4-NH2). Mit dem Ni-H8TPPP Linker gelang die Synthese des ersten porösen Porphyrin-basierten Metall-Phosphonats M-CAU-29 [M(Ni-H6TPPP)(H2O)] (M= Mn, Co, Cd), dessen Struktur aus Einkristalldaten bestimmt wurde und für das spezifische Oberflächen nach BET von 0, 90, 145 und 180 m2 g-1 (Ni, Mn, Co, Cd) erhalten wurden. Unter Einsatz der vierwertigen Kationen Zr4+ und Hf4+ in Kombination mit NaF und NaOH gelang die Synthese eines weiteren Porphyrin-basierten Metall-Phosphonats [M2(Ni-H2TPPP)(OH/F)2] ∙ x H2O (M= Zr, Hf) M-CAU-30. CAU-30 ist das Metall-Phosphonat mit der bisher höchsten spezifischen Oberfläche nach BET von 1070 (Zr-) bzw. 1030 m2 g-1 (Hf-CAU-30). Der Einsatz von DABCO (1,4-Diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octan) in Kombination mit Co2+ und HCl zu einem dritten porösen Porphyrin-basierten Metall-Phosphonat dem Co-CAU-36 [Co2(Ni-H4TPPP)] ∙ 2DABCO ∙ 6H2O. CAU-36 ist ebenfalls porös gegenüber N2 bei 77 K und weist eine spezifische Oberfläche nach BET von 700 m2 g-1 auf.

Die Ziele der Arbeiten waren die hydrothermale Synthese und Charakterisierung neuer Polyoxoniobate (PONbs) und die Untersuchung des Einflusses der Reaktionsparameter auf die Produktbildung. Mit Cu2+ wurden zwei neue PONbs unterschiedlicher Clustergeometrie hergestellt; K5[Cu(H2O)2(cyclam)]1.5{[Cu(cyclam)][Cu(H2O)(cyclam)]2HSiNb18O54}(NO3)·30H2O und {[Cu(cyclam)(H2O)]2[Cu(cyclam)][Nb10O28]}n·9nH2O (cyclam = 1,4,8,11-Tetraazacyclotetradekan) wurden durch Variation des pH-Wertes bei sonst identischen Reaktionsbedingungen erhalten. Durch die Anwendung dynamischer hydrothermaler Bedingungen konnte die Reaktionszeit auf 1 Stunde reduziert werden. Untersuchungen der thermischen Stabilität belegen, dass das Kristallwasser ohne signifikante Änderung der Kristallinität entfernt und wieder integriert werden kann. Bei Verwendung von Ti(OiPr)4 wird ein weiteres Dekaniobat, [Cu(cyclam)(H2O)2]{[Cu(cyclam)]2[Nb10O28]}·27H2O, erhalten. Die Verbindung verliert bereits Kristallwassermoleküle nach Isolierung aus der Mutterlauge und ändert dabei ihre Kristallstruktur. Mit Synchrotron-Röntgenpulverbeugung und Totalstreumethoden wurde der Prozess der Dehydratisierung untersucht. Aus den Totalstreudaten wurde die Paarverteilungsfunktion (PDF) berechnet und es konnte ein sehr präzises Histogramm der interatomaren Abstände in der Probe ermittelt werden, welches sich bei der wasserreichen und wasserarmen Phase unterscheidet. Mit Ni2+-Kationen konnten vier Titanoniobate synthetisiert werden. Die violetten Kristalle von [Ni(cyclam)]4[Ti2Nb8O28]}n·~28nH2O und gelbe Kristalle von K[Ni(cyclam)]3[TiNb9O28]·nH2O (n = 10-18) wurden durch Variation der Titanquelle erhalten. Die erste Verbindung enthält Ni2+-Kationen in oktaedrischer Umgebung und wurde mit Ti(OiPr)4 synthetisiert, während die anderen Verbindungen mit quadratisch-planar koordinierten Ni2+-Kationen mit K2TiO(C2O4)2·2H2O oder mit Ti(OiPr)4 unter Zugabe von Oxalat-Anionen aus der gleichen Reaktionsmischung hergestellt werden konnten. The aims of this work were the hydrothermal synthesis and characterization of novel polyoxoniobates (PONbs) and the evaluation of the synthesis parameters onto product formation. With Cu2+, two novel PONbs with different geometries, K5[Cu(H2O)2(cyclam)]1.5{[Cu(cyclam)][Cu(H2O)(cyclam)]2HSiNb18O54}(NO3)·30H2O and {[Cu(cyclam)(H2O)]2[Cu(cyclam)][Nb10O28]}n·9nH2O were synthesized from the same reaction mixture just by adjusting the pH value. Moreover, by applying hydrothermal stirring conditions, the reaction time was significantly reduced to less than 1 h and high yields were obtained. Investigation of the stabilities revealed a reversible dehydration/rehydration for the decaniobate. After adding Ti(OiPr)4 to the reaction slurry, a second decaniobate containing compound was isolated, [Cu(cyclam)(H2O)2]{[Cu(cyclam)]2[Nb10O28]}·27H2O. This compound loses crystal H2O molecules upon removing from the mother liquor, yielding a new compound with a different crystal structure. The water loss process was investigated via synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction and X-ray total scattering. Evaluation of the total scattering data yields the pair distribution function (PDF) and revealed a precise histogram of the interatomic distances in the structures, being different for the water-rich and water-poor phase. Syntheses with Ni2+ cations yielded four titanoniobate containing compounds. Violet crystals of [Ni(cyclam)]4[Ti2Nb8O28]}n·~28nH2O and yellow crystals of K[Ni(cyclam)]3[TiNb9O28]·nH2O (n = 10-18) were obtained by varying the titanium source. The first compound with Ni2+ cations in octahedral environment was synthesized with Ti(OiPr)4, while the latter compounds with square-planar coordinated Ni2+ cations were prepared with K2TiO(C2O4)2·2H2O or Ti(OiPr)4 with addition of oxalate anions from the same reaction mixture.

In der hier vorliegenden Arbeit wurden Koordinationspolymere (CPs) hinsichtlich ihrer imidazol- beziehungsweise wasservermittelten Protonenleitung systematisch untersucht. Within the scope of this thesis, the proton conductivity of coordination polymers (CPs) was systematically investigated towards the imidazole-based conductivity as well as the influence of additional acidic protons in a water-driven proton conductivity.

In dieser Arbeit wurde die Synthese von Metall-organischen Gerüstverbindungen unter Verwendung von solvothermalen Reaktionsbedingungen in der Hochduchsatzmethode behandelt. Die erhaltenen Verbindungen wurden eingehend charakterisiert und sollten den Effekt der Frequenzverdopplung aufweisen. Dieser wurde für einige Verbindungen experimentell nachgewiesen. This work deals with the synthesis of metal organic frameworks using solvothermal synthesis conditions in high throughput methods. The compounds obtained were characterized thoroughly and should exhibit an SHG effect. This effect was determined experimentally for some of the synthesized compounds.

Diese Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit der Synthese und Charakterisierung neuer poröser Metallphosphonate. Dabei wurden zwei Ansätze verfolgt, um die Ausbildung von für Metallphosphonate typischen dichten Schichtstrukturen zu verhindern. Im Fall von MIL-91 ([M(OH)(H2L)]·xH2O (M = Al, Fe, Ga, H4L= N,N‘-Piperazinbismethylenphosphonsäure oder N,N′-2-Methylpiperazinbis(methylenphosphonsäure), x ~ 3-4)) wird die Ausbildung des Schichtmotivs durch Einbringen einer Aminfunktionalität verhindert. Alternativ kann durch die geometrische Form von Triphosphonsäuren wie 1,3,5-Tris-(4-phosphonophenyl)-benzol (H6PPB) und 2,4,6-Tri-(4-phosphonophenyl)-s-triazin (H6PPT) ebenfalls die Ausbildung des typischen Schichtmotivs vermieden werden. Auf Basis bereits veröffentlichter Daten[1] wurde die Synthese von MIL-91(Al) ([Al(OH)(H2L3)]·xH2O (x ~ 3, H4L3= N,N‘-Piperazinbismethylenphosphonsäure)) optimiert und die Kristallstruktur aus hochaufgelösten Röntgenpulverdaten in einer niedrigsymmetrischeren Raumgruppe (P1 ̅ statt C2/m) neu bestimmt. Außerdem wurden, basierend auf dem Prinzip der isoretikulären Synthese die Verbindungen [Fe(OH)(H2L3)]·4H2O (MIL-91(Fe)) und [Ga(OH)(H2L3)]·4H2O (MIL-91(Ga)) sowie [Al(OH)(H2L4)]·3H2O (MIL-91-CH3(Al)), [Fe(OH)(H2L4)]·3H2O (MIL-91-CH3(Fe)) und [Ga(OH)(H2L4)]·4H2O (MIL-91-CH3(Ga)) (H4L4= N,N′-2-Methylpiperazinbis(methylenphosphonsäure)) synthetisiert. Auf Basis von Triphosphonsäuren wurden drei neue poröse Metallphosphonate entdeckt. Die Synthesen von [Zn2(H2PPB)(H2O)2]·xH2O (CAU-25), [Cu3(PPT)(H2O)3]·10H2O (CAU-14) und [Ni3(PPT)(H2O)3]·12H2O wurden mittels Hochdurchsatzmethoden optimiert.. CAU-25 ist permanent porös gegen Kohlenstoffdioxid und Wasser. Die permanente Porosität von CAU 14 und [Ni3(PPT)(H2O)3]·12H2O wurde mittels Stickstoff-, Kohlenstoffdioxid-, Wasserstoff- und Wassersorptionsmessungen nachgewiesen. Durch thermische Aktivierung können an das Nickel bzw. Kupferion koordinierte Wassermoleküle entfernt werden. The present work deals with the solvothermal synthesis and characterisation of new porous metal phosphonates. The formation of the dense inorganic layered structure motif of metal phosphonates was prevented by two different approaches. In the case of MIL-91 ([M(OH)(H2L)]·xH2O (M = Al, Fe, Ga, H4L= N,N‘-piperazinebismethylenephosphonic acid or N,N′-2-methylpiperazinebis(methylenephosphonic acid), x ~ 3-4)) a second functional group (tertiary amine in the linker) coordinates the metal which prevents the formation of dense layers. The formation of the dense-layer structure motif can also be disrupted by adjustment of the geometry of the phosphonic acid, for example by using trifunctional phosphonic acids like 1,3,5-Tris-(4-phosphonophenyl)benzene (H6PPB) and 2,4,6-tri-(phenylene-4-phosphonic acid)-s-triazine (H6PPT). The synthesis of MIL-91(Al) ([Al(OH)(H2L3)]·xH2O (x ~ 3, H4L3= N,N‘-piperazine-bismethylenephosphonic acid)) was optimised and the previously reported structure[1] was re-determined using high resolution synchrotron powder X-ray diffraction data. Based on the principles of isoreticular synthesis the compounds [Fe(OH)(H2L3)]·4H2O (MIL 91(Fe)), [Ga(OH)(H2L3)]·4H2O (MIL-91(Ga)), [Al(OH)(H2L4)]·3H2O (MIL-91-CH3(Al)), [Fe(OH)(H2L4)]·3H2O (MIL-91-CH3(Fe)) and [Ga(OH)(H2L4)]·4H2O (MIL-91-CH3(Ga)) (H4L4= N,N′-2-methylpiperazinebis(methylenephosphonic acid)) were synthesised. Three new porous metal phosphonates were discovered based on trifunctional phosphonic acids. The synthesis conditions of [Zn2(H2PPB)(H2O)2]·xH2O (CAU-25), [Cu3(PPT)(H2O)3]·10H2O (CAU-14) and [Ni3(PPT)(H2O)3]·12H2O were optimised applying high-throughput methods. CAU-25 is permanently porous towards CO2 and H2O. The permanent porosity of CAU 14 and [Ni3(PPT)(H2O)3]·12H2O was shown by N2, H2, CO2 and H2O sorption measurements. Upon activation the water molecules in CAU-14 and [Ni3(PPT)(H2O)3]·12H2O which are coordinated to the copper respectively nickel ions can be removed.

Diese Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit der Synthese und Charakterisierung von neuen porösen metallorganischen Gerüstverbindungen (MOFs) sowie Komplexen, basierend auf dreiwertigen Metall-Ionen (Al3+, Ga3+) und Linkermolekülen mit vicinalen Sauerstoffatomen und des Weiteren der Funktionalisierung von aluminiumhaltigen metallorganischen Gerüstverbindungen. Die Entdeckung und die Syntheseoptimierung der neuen Verbindungen erfolgten unter Einsatz von Hochdurchsatz-Methoden unter solvothermalen Reaktionsbedingungen. Als Linkermoleküle mit vicinalen Sauerstoffatomen wurden 2,5 Dihydroxy-p-benzochinon (H2-DHBQ), 2,5-Dichloro-3,6-dihydroxy-p-benzochinon (H2-DHBQ-Cl2), Quadratsäure (C4H2O4) und 2,3,6,7,10,11-Hexahydroxytriphenylen (H6-HHTP) eingesetzt. Im Gegensatz zu den carboxylathaltigen Linkermolekülen besitzen die verwendeten Linkermoleküle unterschiedliches Koordinationsmuster. This thesis deals with the synthesis and characterization of new porous metal-organic frameworks and complexes based on trivalent metal ions (Al3+, Ga3+) and linker molecules containing vicinal oxygen atoms. Furthermore the functionalization of aluminum based metal-organic frameworks was investigated. For the discovery as well as the synthesis optimization of the new compounds high-throughput methods were applied under solvothermal reaction conditions. Following linker molecules based on vicinal oxygen atoms were used: 2,5-dihydroxy-p-benzoquinone (H2-DHBQ), 2,5-dichloro-3,6-dihydroxy-p-benzoquinone (H2-DHBQ-Cl2), squaric acid (C4H2O4) and 2,3,6,7,10,11-hexayhydroxytriphenylene (H6-HHTP). These linker molecules exhibit different coordination properties compared to carboxylate based linker molecules.

Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit sollten funktionalisierte IRMOFs und protonenleitfähige MOFs durch prä- oder postsynthetische Modifikation dargestellt werden. Für die präsynthetische Darstellung von funktionalisierten IRMOFs wurden in dieser Arbeit verschiedene amino-, nitro-, methoxy- und hydroxyfunktionalisierte Triazin-Linker synthetisiert und für die MOF-Synthese zur Verfügung gestellt. Einige der Linker konnten erfolgreich zur Darstellung von funktionalisierten IRMOFs, basierend auf PCN 6-, MIL-143- und CAU-7-Topologie, verwendet werden. Für einen aminofunktionalisierten Bismut-IRMOF mit CAU-7 Topologie konnten außerdem Methoden zur postsynthetischen Modifikation entwickelt werden. Die Aminogruppen konnten erfolgreich mit aliphatischen Anhydriden, cyclischen Anhydriden und 1,3-Propansulton umgesetzt werden. Auf diese Weise konnten sowohl Carbonsäure- als auch Sulfonsäure-Gruppen in den IRMOF implementiert werden. Für die präsynthetische Darstellung von protonenleitfähigen MOFs wurden im Rahmen dieser Arbeit zehn unterschiedliche Phosphosulfonsäure-Linker synthetisiert und für die MOF-Synthese zur Verfügung gestellt. In ersten Versuchen konnten einige Linker bereits erfolgreich zu Lanthan-basierten MOFs umgesetzt werden. Für die postsynthetische Darstellung von protonenleitfähigen MOFs wurden Methoden zur Implementierung von Phosphonsäure-Gruppen in Cr-MIL-101-Derivate entwickelt. Phosphonsäurediethylester-Gruppen wurden erfolgreich mittels Palladium-katalysierter Kreuzkupplung in die Strukturen von Cr-MIL-101-Br und Cr-MIL-101-NH2 eingeführt. Phosphonsäure-Gruppen wurden durch nukleophile Substitution in das Cr-MIL-101-NH2 implementiert.

Die hier vorliegende Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit der Synthese und den Eigenschaften von neuen und isoretikulären Metall-organischen Gerüstverbindungen basierend auf Ce4+ Ionen und aromatischen Polycarboxylaten (Linkermolekülen) verschiedener Größe und Geometrie. Unter Verwendung von Cer(IV)ammoniumnitrat und Terephthalsäure (H2BDC) konnte der Ce(IV)-MOF Ce-UiO-66-BDC [Ce6O4(OH)4(BDC)6] hergestellt werden. Ce-UiO-66-BDC konnte erfolgreich als heterogener Katalysator für die aerobe Oxidation von Benzylalkohol zu Benzaldehyd eingesetzt werden. Die Verwendung von gewinkelten Dicarbonsäuren führte zu den drei Verbindungen Ce-DUT-67-TDC [Ce6O4(OH)4(TDC)4(OH)4(H2O)4], Ce-DUT-67-PZDC [Ce6O4(OH)4(PZDC)4(OH)4(H2O)4] und Ce-CAU-28 [Ce6O4(OH)4(FDC)4(OH)4(H2O)4]. Die MOFs bestehen aus 8-fach verknüpften hexanuklearen Ce(IV)-O-Clustern die jeweils über die Anionen der Linkermoleküle 2,5-Thiophendicarbonsäure (H2TDC), 3,5-Pyrazoldicarbonsäure (H2PZDC) und 2,5-Furandicarbonsäure (H2FDC) miteinander verbrückt sind. Ausgehend von der 1,3,5-Benzoltricarbonsäure (H3BTC) konnte die isoretikuläre Verbindung Ce-MOF-808 [Ce6O4(OH)4(BTC)2(OH)6(H2O)6] hergestellt werden. Zwei neue MOFs, genannt M-CAU-24 [M6O4(OH)4(TCPB)2(OH)4(H2O)4] (M= Zr, Ce) konnten unter Verwendung von 1,2,4,5-Tetrakis(4-carboxyphenyl)benzol (H4TCPB) synthetisiert werden. Die Kristallstruktur konnte aus Synchrotron-Röntgenbeugungsdaten gelöst und mittels Rietveld-Methoden verfeinert werden. Die Verbindung enthält rhomboedrische Kanäle (~5×10 Å). Zr-CAU-24 luminesziert blau bei Anregung mit UV-Licht. Über einen Mischmetall-Ansatz konnten zwei Serien von Ce/Zr-MOFs mit den jeweiligen Zusammensetzungen [CexZr6 xO4(OH)4(BDC)6] und [CexZr6 xO4(OH)4(BTC)2(OH)6(H2O)6] (0 < x < 6) unter Verwendung von Terephthalsäure (H2BDC) und 1,3,5-Benzoltricarbonsäure (H3BTC) hergestellt werden. Die thermischen und chemischen Stabilitäten der Verbindungen konnten über das Ce:Zr-Verhältnisses eingestellt werden. This thesis deals with the synthesis and characterization of new and isoreticular metal-organic frameworks based on Ce4+ ions and polytopic aromatic carboxylate ions (linker molecules) of varying size and shape. Starting from ammonium cerium(IV) nitrate and terephthalic acid (H2BDC) the Ce(IV)-MOF Ce-UiO-66-BDC [Ce6O4(OH)4(BDC)6] was synthesized. Ce-UiO-66-BDC has been successfully used as a heterogeneous catalyst for the aerobic oxidation of benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde. The use of bent dicarboxylic acids resulted in three compounds named Ce-DUT-67-TDC [Ce6O4(OH)4(TDC)4(OH)4(H2O)4], Ce-DUT-67-PZDC [Ce6O4(OH)4(PZDC)4(OH)4(H2O)4] and Ce-CAU-28 [Ce6O4(OH)4(FDC)4(OH)4(H2O)4]. The MOFs are based on hexanuclear Ce(IV)-O-cluster that are 8-fold connected by the ions of the respective linker molecules 2,5-thiophenedicarboxylic acid (H2TDC), 3,5-pyrazoledicarboxylic acid (H2PZDC) und 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid (H2FDC). Starting from 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid (H3BTC) the isoreticular compound Ce-MOF-808 [Ce6O4(OH)4(BTC)2(OH)6(H2O)6] was synthesized. Two new MOFs denoted as M-CAU-24 [M6O4(OH)4(TCPB)2(OH)4(H2O)4] (M= Zr, Ce) were obtained using 1,2,4,5-tetrakis(4-carboxyphenyl)benzene (H4TCPB). The crystal structure was determined by a combination of Rietveld refinement and DFT calculations. Zr- and Ce-CAU-24 are based on [M6O4(OH)4]12+ (M= Zr4+, Ce4+) clusters that are 8-fold connected by TCPB4- ions. Zr-CAU-24 luminesces blue upon excitation with UV light. Using a mixed metal approach and terephthalic acid (H2BDC) or 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid (H3BTC) two series of Ce/Zr-MOFs with general formulas [CexZr6 xO4(OH)4(BDC)6] and [CexZr6 xO4(OH)4(BTC)2(OH)6(H2O)6] (0 < x < 6) were synthesized, respectively The thermal and chemical stabilities of the compounds were tuned by varying the Ce:Zr ratio.

In dieser Dissertation konnte eine zweistufige Funktionalisierung von mesoporösen Silicamaterialien (im Besonderen SBA-15 und benzylverbrückten periodisch mesoporösen Organosilicas) mit einer photoschaltbaren Azobenzoleinheit etabliert werden. Der entscheidende Vorteil dieser zweistufigen Synthese ist die variable und exakt einstellbare Schalterdichte. Unter der Schalterdichte wird hierbei der Abstand zwischen zwei benachbarten, photoschaltbaren Einheiten verstanden. Die unterschiedlichen Schalterdichten wirken sich stark auf die Eigenschaften der azobenzolfunktionalisierten Silica-Materialien aus. So zeigt das Material mit dem in cis geschalteten Azobenzolschalter wesentlich stärkere attraktive Wechselwirkungen mit polaren Molekülen (Farbstoff oder Lösungsmittel) als das Material, das das trans-Isomer enthält. Bei den Materialien kann auch beobachtet werden, dass sich die unterschiedlichen Schalterdichten auf die Gleichgewichtseinstellung zwischen freigesetztem und eingelagertem Farbstoff auswirken. Weiterhin wurde die Bildung von PMO-Materialien im wässrigen Reaktionsmedium mit Hilfe einer in-situ-ATR-IR-Apparatur untersucht. Die Ergebnisse geben erstmals Einblicke in stufenweise Bildung solcher amorpher Hybridmaterialien. Außerdem konnten die empirisch gefundenen Syntheseparameter als fast optimal bestätigt werden bzw. kann durch kleine Veränderungen die Reaktion optimiert werden. Ein anderer Bereich dieser Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit dem Design potenter Photokatalysatoren. Es wurden poröse Silica-Materialien synthetisiert, die zum einen in der Porenwand verankerte Metallspezies und zum anderen Metallspezies auf der inneren und äußeren Oberfläche aufweisen.

Die Implementierung von Wasserstoffbrückenbindungsmustern in metall-organische Gerüstverbindungen (MOFs) zur Untersuchung und Kontrolle selektiver Wirt-Gast-Wechselwirkungen war Ziel des Projekts „Targeting selective host-guest-interactions in metal-organic frameworks. Synthesis, NMR studies and sensor design“ und Teil eines Schwerpunktprogramms der DFG (SPP-1362). Die Variation von zwei- und dreifach-Wasserstoffbrückenmustern in isostrukturellen MOFs sollte grundlegende Erkenntnisse zu den Wechselwirkungen zwischen den Rezeptoren und eingesetzten Gast-Molekülen liefern. Zu diesem Zwecke wurden im Rahmen dieser Dissertation verschiedene funktionalisierte tri- und hexadentate Triazin-Linker, bi- und tetradentate Stilben-Linker und verschieden funktionalisierte Biphenyl-Linker zur Darstellung entsprechender isostruktureller Gerüstverbindungen synthetisiert. Die amino- und nitro-funktionalisierten Biphenyl- und Triazin-Linker konnten erfolgreich zur Darstellung der isoretikularen Strukturen DUT-5 und PCN-6 verwendet werden. Zwei- und dreifach-Wasserstoff-brückenmuster wurden sowohl über die kovalente als auch die koordinative postsynthetische Modifikation in die Strukturen CAU-1 und Cr-MIL-101 implementiert. Z. B. stellt die Überführung des Sulfonsäure-funktionalisierten Cr-MIL-101 in ein intermediäres Sulfonsäurechlorid mit anschließender Substitution durch ein entsprechendes Amin eine neuartige und vielseitige Methode zur postsynthetischen Modifikation Sulfonsäure-funktionalisierter Strukturen dar. Die Koordination eines Wasserstoffbrücken-basierten PET-Sensors auf Anthracen-Basis an die ungesättigen Koordinationsstellen im Cr-MIL-101 mit dem Versuch zur Detektion von Fluorid-Anionen stellt ein erstes Konzept für mögliche sensorische Anwendungen dar. The implementation of hydrogen bonding patterns into metal organic frameworks (MOFs) for the examination and characterization of selective host-guest interactions was the objective of the project “Targeting selective host-guest-interactions in metal-organic frameworks. Synthesis, NMR studies and sensor design“ and part of a priority programm of the DFG (SPP-1362). The variation of double and triple hydrogen bonding-patterns in isostructural MOFs should give a fundamental understanding of interactions between receptor and analyte-molecules. For the preparation of different isostructural MOFs, different functionalized tri- and hexadentate triazines, bi- and tetradentate stilbenes and different functionalized biphenyl-linkers with varied funtionalizations were synthesized in this work. Nitro and aminefunctionalized biphenyl and triazine linkers were successfully introduced into the structures DUT-5 and PCN-6. Double and triple hydrogen bonding patterns were implemented successfully via covalent and coordinative postsynthetic modifications into the structures CAU-1-NH2 and Cr-MIL-101-SO3H. The transformation of Cr MIL 101 SO3H via the corresponding acid chloride and subsequent substitution with an amine for example, is a novel and versatile method for the postsynthetic modification of sulfonic acid functionalized structures. The coordination of hydrogen bond based PET sensors to the coordinatively unsaturated sites of Cr-MIL-101 for the detection of fluoride aniones is a promising concept for new sensor applications.

Diese Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit der Synthese, Charakterisierung und möglichen Anwendung neuer sowie isoretikulärer aluminiumhaltiger Metall-Organischer Gerüstverbindungen (Al-MOFs) basierend auf schwefelhaltigen Linkermolekülen. Verwendet wurden die Sulfone 4,4´-Sulfonyldibenzoesäure (H2SDBA), 3,3´,4,4´-Diphenylsulfontetracarbonsäuredianhydrid (DPSDA) und 5,5-Dioxo-dibenzo[b,d]thiophen-3,7-Dicarbonsäure (H2BPDC-SO2), 2,5-Thiophendicarbonsäure (H2TDC), das Lithiumsalz der 5-Sulfoisopthalsäure (m-H2BDC-SO3H) sowie 2,5-Dimercapto-1,4-Benzoldicarbonsäure (H2DMBD). Zur Entdeckung und Syntheseoptimierung wurde auf Hochdurchsatzmethoden zurückgegriffen. Unter Verwendung der Linkermoleküle H2SDBA und DPSDA konnten zwei neue sulfonfunktionalisierte mikroporöse Verbindungen CAU-11 [Al(OH)(SDBA)]·0.25DMF und CAU-12 [Al2(OH)2(DPSTC)(H2O)2]·H2O erhalten werden. Beide Verbindungen sind aus Ketten von trans eckenverknüpften AlO6-Polyedern aufgebaut. Im Falle von CAU-11 werden die Ketten über die Linkermoleküle zu einer zweidimensionalen Schichtstruktur verknüpft. CAU-11 weist dabei eine äußerst selten vorkommende permanente Porosität innerhalb der Schichten auf. Das hydrophobe Sorptionsverhalten konnte, ausgehend von DPSDA, durch Herstellung der isoretikulären Verbindung CAU-11-COOH [Al(OH)(H2DPSTC)]·0.5H2O in ein hydrophiles umgewandelt werden. Im Falle von CAU-12 [Al2(OH)2(DPSTC)(H2O)2]·H2O werden die anorganischen Ketten zu einem dreidimensionalen Netzwerk verknüpft... This thesis deals with the synthesis, characterization and potential application of new and isoreticular aluminum based metal-organic frameworks (Al-MOFs) based on sulfur-containing linker molecules. Used were the sulfones 4,4’-sulfonyldibenzoic acid (H2SDBA), 3,3´,4,4´-diphenylsulfonetetracarboxylic acid dianhydride (DPSDA) and 5,5-dioxo-dibenzo[b,d]thiophene-3,7-dicarboxylic acid (H2BPDC-SO2), 2,5-thiophenedicarboxylic acid (H2TDC), 5-sulfoisophthalic acid monolithium salt (m-H2BDC-SO3H) as well as 2,5-dimercapto-1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid (H2DMBD). For the discovery as well as the optimization of reaction conditions high-throughput methods were employed. The use of the linker molecules H2SDBA and DPSDA resulted in the formation of two new sulfone-functionalized microporous compounds, CAU-11 [Al(OH)(SDBA)]·0.25DMF and CAU-12 [Al2(OH)2(DPSTC)(H2O)2]·H2O, respectively. Both compounds are based on chains of trans corner-sharing AlO6-polyhedra. In the case of CAU-11, the linker molecules connect these chains to build up a two-dimensional layered structure containing a very uncommon permanent interlayer porosity. The use of DPSDA also resulted in the isoreticular compound CAU-11-COOH [Al(OH)(H2DPSTC)]·0.5H2O. Therefore, the hydrophobic compound becomes hydrophilic. In CAU-12 [Al2(OH)2(DPSTC)(H2O)2]·H2O the inorganic chains are connected to form a three-dimensional structure...

In dieser Arbeit wurden por¨oses Silicium, por¨oses Siliciumdioxid, SBA-15 und ein Ethenverbrückter PMO (Periodisch Mesoporöses Organosilica) mit insgesamt vier verschiedenen Azobenzolderivaten funktionalisiert. Die am häufigsten angewendete Synthesemethode war die Anbringung des jeweiligen Azobenzolderivats in drei Stufen. Dazu wurde das Material im ersten Schritt mit 3-Brompropyltrichlorosilan oder 11-Bromundecyltrichlorosilan umgesetzt. Das endständige Bromid der ankondensierten Moleküle wurde im zweiten Schritt durch Azid substituiert. Der letzte Schritt und damit die Funktionalisierung mit dem gewünschten Azobenzolderivat, wurde mittels 1,3-Hiusgen Cycloaddition erreicht. Die Charakterisierung der synthetisierten Materialien erfolgte hauptsächlich mit Hilfe der IR-Spektroskopie und Stickstoffsorptionsmessungen. Weiterhin war es mittels Festkörper- NMR-Spektroskopie möglich die Bindungsverhältnisse der eingebrachten organischen Spezies zum Trägermaterial zu untersuchen. Das Schaltverhalten der eingebrachten Azobenzolderivate wurde mittels UV/Vis-Spektroskopie nachgewiesen. Das vorrangige Ziel dieser Arbeit war eine zwischen hydrophob und hydrophil schaltbare Oberfläche im inneren der Poren der vier Materialien zu generieren. Dies konnte erfolgreich für SBA-15 und den PMO erreicht werden. Zum Nachweis dieses Effekts wurden Releaseexperimente mit Toluol und THF durchgeführt. Diese wurden UV/Vis-spektroskopisch verfolgt.

In dieser Arbeit wurde ausgehend vom mesoporösen Silica-Material SBA-15 ein Material hergestellt, das schaltbare Eigenschaften aufweist. Eine zweistufige Synthese zur kovalenten Verankerung von isomerisierbaren Azobenzolmolekülen in den Mesoporen von SBA-15 konnte erfolgreich entwickelt werden. Die Funktionalisierungsdichte kann mit diesem synthetischen Vorgehen kontrolliert werden und daher auch die Eigenschaften des resultierenden Materials Azo-SBA-15. Die zeitliche Stabilität von geschaltetem cis-Azo-SBA-15 ist ausschließlich von der Funktionalisierungsdichte abhängig. In weiterführenden Versuchen wurden Wechselwirkungen mit Tetraalkylammoniumsalzen und verschiedenen Farbstoffen wie Rhodamin B, Patentblau V und Bromphenolblau untersucht. Bei diesen Experimenten konnte festgestellt werden, dass Azo SBA 15 sehr gut Patentblau V aufnimmt. Nach Isomerisierung durch Belichtung wurde etwas weniger von dem Farbstoff aufgenommen. Diese Befunde stimmen mit denen überein, welche mit dem Farbstoff Rhodamin B gefunden wurden. Dies lässt den Schluss zu, dass die Wechselwirkungen der cis-Form mit diesen beiden Farbstoffen geringer als die der trans-Form sind. Bei Untersuchungen zum Trennverhalten wurden u. a. Mischungen von Patentblau V mit Bromphenolblau eingesetzt. Dabei hat sich herausgestellt, dass Bromphenolblau durch Azo SBA 15 ebenfalls aufgenommen wird, wenn auch etwas weniger als Patentblau V. Nach Belichtung des Azo SBA 15 wurde mehr Patentblau V als ohne Belichtung aufgenommen, wobei für Bromphenolblau keine Unterschiede beobachtet wurden. Eine Erhöhung der Funktionalisierungsdichte führt zu einer Umkehr dieses Effekts, nach Belichtung des Materials wird weniger Patentblau V aufgenommen. Das entwickelte schaltbare Azo SBA 15 lässt durch die variabel einstellbare Funktionalisierungsdichte und die von der Isomerisierung abhängigen Wechselwirkungen mit Farbstoffen wie Patentblau V ein großes Potential erkennen. Durch die Änderung der Funktionalisierungsdichte kann der Einfluss auf aufgenommene Farbstoffe im Zusammenhang mit der vorliegenden isomeren Form umgekehrt werden. Dies ist ein wichtiger Aspekt im Hinblick auf mögliche Anwendungen im Bereich des Drug Release.

Diese Dissertation beschäftigt sich mit der Synthese neuer und der Syntheseoptimierung bekannter aluminiumhaltiger Metall-Organischer Gerüstverbindungen (Al-MOFs) sowie der Implementierung ultraschallgestützter Synthesen in den Arbeitsablauf der Hochdurchsatzmethodik. Das System AlCl3*6H2O/cis-H2CDC/trans-H2CDC/Lösemittel (H2CDC: 1,4-Cyclohexandicarbonsäure) wurde mit den am Arbeitskreis etablierten Hochdurchsatzmethoden, die auf auf solvothermale Reaktionen spezialisiert sind, untersucht. Es wurden zwei neue kristalline Verbindungen gefunden, die aus Ketten trans-eckenverknüpfter AlO6-Oktaeder aufgebaut sind, welche über entweder cis- oder trans-CDC2--Ionen miteinander verknüpft sind. Bei der Verbindung, die trans-CDC2--Ionen enthält, handelt es sich um einen mikroporösen MOF mit interessanten Sorptionseigenschaften: In Abhängigkeit der Menge und Art eingelagerter Gastmoleküle ändert sich das Elementarzellvolumen und damit die Gitterpositionen der Atome reversibel und ohne merklichen Verlust der Kristallinität - [Al(OH)(trans-CDC)] (genannt CAU-13) "atmet". Neben der detaillierten Aufklärung der Eigenschaften von CAU-13 wurden auch kinetische Untersuchungen zur Kristallisation mittels in-situ-EDXRD (energiedispersive Röntgenbeugung) durchgeführt. An CAU-13 wurde der Einsatz des auf dem lokalen Optimierungs-Algorithmus BOBYQA basierenden Computerprogramms CHRYSOP zur gezielten Verkleinerung der Partikelgröße erprobt. Die Partikelgröße von [Al4(OH)2(OCH3)4(BDC-NH2)3]*xH2O (CAU-1-NH2) wurde in Abhängigkeit der Änderung physikalischer und chemischer Parameter untersucht. Der Einsatz einer Monocarbonsäure als Modulator zeigte eine Verkleinerung der kristallinen Domänen des Produkts bei nahezu gleichbleibendem hydrodynamischen Durchmesser der Partikel. Durch unregelmäßigere Partikelform wurden hierarchische Mesoporen in diesen Produkten generiert. Die Erkenntnisse aus dieser Studie wurden genutzt, um Dispersionen von CAU-1-NH2 herzustellen, die für den Aufbau photonischer Kristalle, sogenannter Bragg-Stacks eingesetzt wurden. Zur Untersuchung des Systems CaCl2*6H2O/H2O3P-C(OH)(CH3)-PO3H2(HEDP)/H2O/KOH wurden Hochdurchsatzmethodik und ultraschallgestützte Synthese kombiniert. Es wurden drei neue Verbindungen, [Ca(HO3P-C(OH)(CH3)-PO3H)(H2O)]*2.5H2O, [CaK(HO3P-C(OH)(CH3)-PO3)(H2O)]*H2O und [CaK2(O3P-C(OH)(CH3)-PO3)(H2O)6], in Abhängigkeit des pH-Wertes des Reaktionsgemisches und der Reaktionszeit erhalten. Die ultraschallgestützten Synthesen wurden mit Synthesen bei erhöhten Temperaturen und unter Bewegung des Reaktors verglichen. Es konnte gezeigt werden, dass der Haupteinfluss des Ultraschalls auf die Reaktionsbeschleunigung in der besseren Durchmischung der Edukte und der schnelleren Auflösung fester Intermediate liegt. This thesis deals with the synthesis of new and the synthesis optimisation of known aluminum containig Metal-Organic Frameworks (Al-MOFs) as well as the implementation of ultrasound-assisted syntheses into a high-throughput workflow. The system AlCl3*6H2O/cis-H2CDC/trans-H2CDC/solvent (H2CDC: 1,4-cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid) was explored applying high throughput methods specially made for the investigation of solvothermal reactions. Two new crystalline compounds built up of chains of trans-corner sharing AlO6-octahedra were discovered. The chains are either connected by cis- or trans-CDC2- ions. The compound based on trans-CDC2- is a microporous MOF with interesting sorption properties: Depending on the presence of guest molecules the unit cell volume and atomic positions change reversibly and without a remarkable loss of crystallinity - [Al(OH)(trans-CDC)] (denoted CAU-13) "breathes". Besides the detailed characterisation of the properties of CAU-13 investigations on the crystallisation kinetic were performed with in situ EDXRD experiments. Furthermore the computer program CHRYSOP based on the local optimisation algorithm BOBYQA was used to reduce the particle size of CAU-13. The influence of certain physical and chemical reaction parameters on the particle size of [Al4(OH)2(OCH3)4(BDC-NH2)3]*xH2O (CAU-1-NH2) was also determined. The use of a monocarboxylic acid as modulator allowed to decrease the size of the product's crystalline domains while maintaining the particles' hydrodynamic diameter. By the irregular shape of the particles hierarchical mesopores were generated in these products. The findings of this study were used to prepare dispersions of CAU-1-NH2, which were apllied in the construction of photonic crystals, so called Braggs Stacks. To investigate the system CaCl2*6H2O/H2O3P-C(OH)(CH3)-PO3H2(HEDP)/H2O/KOH high-througput methods were combined with the concept of ultrasound-assisted synthesis. Three new crystalline compounds, Ca(HO3P-C(OH)(CH3)-PO3H)(H2O)]*2.5H2O, [CaK(HO3P-C(OH)(CH3)-PO3)(H2O)]*H2O and [CaK2(O3P-C(OH)(CH3)-PO3)(H2O)6], were found depending on the pH of the reaction mixture and the sonication time. The ultrasound-assisted syntheses were compared to syntheses carried out at elevated temperatures and under agitation. It was found that the main contribution of ulrasound to the increased reaction times is due to better mixing and the faster dissolution of solid intermediates.

Die vorliegende Arbeit beschreibt die Darstellung und Charakterisierung von silicium- und phosphorhaltigen Liganden und entsprechenden Molybdän-Komplexen im Hinblick auf die biologische Stickstofffixierung. Im ersten Teil werden die Synthese und das Koordinationsverhalten von Liganden beschrieben, die neben Phosphin-Donoren eine deprotonierbare Si−H-Funktion enthalten und daher für eine anionische Koordination geeignet sind. Neben literaturbekannten P/Si−H-Liganden wurde unter Ausnutzung einer Magnesium-vermittelten Kupplung ein neuer P/Si−H-Tripod-Ligand hergestellt. Der zweite Teil der Arbeit befasst sich mit siliciumzentrierten Phosphin-Liganden und den daraus hervorgehenden Molybdän-Komplexen. Unter Verwendung des literaturbekannten symmetrischen Tripod-Liganden SiP3 (Tris(dimethylphosphinomethyl)methylsilan) und den zweizähnigen Phosphin-Coliganden dmpm (Bis(dimethylphosphino)methan) und dppm (Bis(diphenylphosphino)methan) wurden die beiden neuen Molybdän(0)-Mono-Distickstoff-Komplexe [Mo(N2)(SiP3)(dmpm)] und [Mo(N2)(SiP3)(dppm)] dargestellt. Die Charakterisierung dieser Komplexe erfolgte durch die detaillierte Analyse der 31P-NMR-Spektren. Vom dppm-Derivat konnte eine Kristallstruktur erhalten werden. Ausgehend von diesen Ergebnissen wurden unter Beibehaltung des Ligandenrückgrats ein bzw. zwei der Dimethylphosphin-Donoren durch Diphenyl- bzw. Diisopropyl-Donoren substituiert. Mit dem so erhaltenen Set aus drei SiPPP-Liganden wurden in Kombination mit verschiedenen Coliganden nach Koordination an einen Molybdän(III)-Präkursor vierzehn weitere Molybdän-Distickstoff-Komplexe hergestellt und charakterisiert. Der Aufbau der Tetra- bzw. Pentaphosphin-Umgebung geschah einerseits direkt durch die Reduktion mit Natriumamalgam, und andererseits durch einen Ligandenaustausch bereits auf Mo(III)-Stufe. Die Untersuchung der Mo(III)-Komplexe wurde hierbei erstmalig durch EPR-Spektroskopie unterstützt, indem experimentelle und simulierte Spektren verglichen wurden. Die Auswirkungen der unterschiedlichen Donor-Gruppen auf die Konstitution der erhaltenen N2-Komplexe und die Aktivierung des N2-Liganden werden diskutiert. The present thesis deals with the synthesis and characterization of silicon and phosphorus containing ligands and their corresponding molybdenum complexes with regard to biological nitrogen fixation In the first part, the synthesis and coordination characteristics of ligands that combine phosphine donors and a Si−H moiety are described. Their ability fo facilitate an anionic coordination upon deprotonation was investigated under various conditions. For this purpose, among several known ligands a new P/Si−H ligand was synthesized by a magnesium mediated coupling reaction. The second part describes silicon-centered phosphine ligands and molybdenum complexes emanating herefrom. Employing the known symmetric tripod ligand SiP3 (tris(dimethylphosphinomethyl)methylsilane) and the bidentate phosphine coligands dmpm (bis(dimethylphosphinomethyl)methane) and dppm (bis(diphenylphosphinomethyl)methane) the new molybdenum(0) mono-dinitrogen complexes [Mo(N2)(SiP3)(dmpm)] and [Mo(N2)(SiP3)(dppm)] could be obtained. Both complexes could be characterized by extensive 31P NMR studies. An X-ray crystal structure of the dppm derivative could be determined. Based on these results, under retention of the ligand backbone one or two of the dimethylphospine donors were substituted by diphenylphosphine and diisopropylphosphine donors, respectively. A set of three SiPPP ligands was obtained via this route and coordinated to a Mo(III) precursor. Using different phosphine coligands 14 additional N2 complexes could be formed. The establishment of the crucial tetra- or pentaphosphine environment was achieved through sodium amalgam reduction on the one hand, and through a preceding ligand exchange on the Mo(III) stage on the other hand. The structures of the Mo(III) species could be supported by comparison of experimental and simulated EPR spectra for the first time. The implications of the different donor moieties on the constitution of the derived N2 complexes and on the activation of the N2 ligand are discussed.

Die hier vorliegende Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit der Synthese und Charakterisierung von neuen anorganisch-organischen Hybridverbindungen und den in situ Untersuchungen ihrer Kristallisation. Den Hauptteil dieser Arbeit machten dabei die Untersuchung polyfunktionalisierter Metallphosphonate und Bismutcarboxylate aus. Die Kristallisationsprozesse wurden mittels energiedispersiver Röntgenbeugung (EDXRD) untersucht. Die Produktbildung von Cu2(O3P-C2H4-SO3(OH)(H2O)2]*3H2O und [Cu2(O3P-C2H4-SO3(OH)(H2O)] verläuft über das metastabile hydratisierte Intermediat [Cu2(O3P-C2H4-SO3(OH)(H2O)2] *4H2O, während bei der Kristallisation von Ca(O3P-C2H4-NH2) das Intermediat [Ca(OH) (O3P-C2H4-NH3)]*2H2O beobachtet wird. Die Kristallstrukturen beider Intermediate und von Ca(O3P-C2H4-NH2) wurden hierbei aus Röntgenpulverdaten bestimmt. EDXRD Untersuchungen der Bildung von M(HO3P-CH2)2-NHCH2-C6H4-COOH (M = Mn2+, Co2+, Fe2+, Ni2+), zeigten verschiedene Reaktionszeiten und Intermediate in Abhängigkeit des Metallions. Die Kristallisation von Sm(O3P-C4H8-SO3)(H2O), Co-CPO-27 und Ni-CPO-27 wurden in situ untersucht und unter Verwendung des Avrami bzw. Gualtieri Modells war es möglich die Geschwindigkeitskonstanten und Arrhenius-Akti\-vierung\-senergien der Reaktionen sowohl unter mikrowellenunterstützten als auch konventionellen Synthesebedingungen zu bestimmen. Mikrowellenunterstütze Synthesemethoden konnten ebenfalls genutzt werden um die Verbindungen [Ni(m-[(HO3PCH2)2NHCH2]2C6H4)] *H2O, [Cd(p-[(HO3PCH2)2NHCH2]2C6H4)] und [Zn(p-[(HO3PCH2)2NHCH2]2C6H4)H2O] zu synthetisieren und ihre Kristallstrukturen konnten mittels Röntgenpulverbeugung bestimmt bzw. aus kristallographischen Zusammenhängen hergeleitet werden. Unter Verwendung von H3BTB und Bi(NO3)3*5H2O war es möglich das erste hoch poröse Bismutcarboxylat Bi(BTB) (H3BTB=1,3,5-Benzoltrisbenzoesäure) herzustellen, welches eine scheinbare spezifische Oberfläche von 1150 m2/g aufweist. Die Verbindung ist für die Hydroxymethylierung von Furan katalytisch aktiv. Die Kristallstruktur wurde aus einer Kombination von Elektronenbeugungsdaten, Rietveld-Verfeinerung und DFT Rechnungen bestimmt. Ebenso wurde zum ersten Mal die Kristallisation von Bismutcarboxylaten in situ untersucht. Es wurde gezeigt, dass in Abhängigkeit der verwendeten Linkermoleküle Pyromellitsäure (H4Pyr), Trimellitsäure (H3Tri) und Trimesinsäure (H3BDC) unter ansonsten ähnlichen Reaktionsbedingungen isolierbare, nicht isolierbare oder gar keine Intermediate bei der Bildung von Bi(HPyr), Bi(Tri)(H2O) und (Bi2(O)(OH)(HBTC)(NO3)) entstehen. This thesis deals with the synthesis and characterization of new inorganic-organic hybrid compounds and the in situ investigations of their crystallization. The main part of this work deals with metalphosphonates and bismuthcarboxylates. The crystallization was investigated by in situ energy dispersive X-ray diffraction (EDXRD). The product formation of [Cu2(O3P-C2H4-SO3(OH)(H2O)2]*3H2O and [Cu2(O3P-C2H4-SO3(OH)(H2O)] proceeds through the metastable hydrated intermediate [Cu2(O3P-C2H4-SO3(OH)(H2O)2]*4H2O, while in the crystallization of Ca(O3P-C2H4-NH2) the intermediate [Ca(OH)(O3P-C2H4-NH3)]*2H2O is observed. The crystal structure of both intermediates and Ca(O3P-C2H4-NH2) were determined from X-ray powder diffraction data. In situ EDXRD investigations of the formation of M(HO3P-CH2)2NHCH2-C6H4-COOH (M = Mn2+, Co2+, Fe2+, Ni2+), Ca(O3P-C2H4-NH2) revealed different reaction times and intermediates depending on the metal ion used. The in situ investigation of the crystallization of Sm(O3P-C4H8-SO3)(H2O), Co-CPO-27 and Ni-CPO-27 allowed the extraction of rate constants and Arrhenius activation energies for the crystallization under microwave-assisted as well as conventional syntheses methods using the model of Avrami and Gualtieri. Microwave-assisted heating was also used to synthetize the compounds [Ni(m-[(HO3PCH2)2NHCH2]2C6H4)] *H2O, [Cd(p-[(HO3PCH2)2NHCH2]2C6H4)] and [Zn(p-[(HO3PCH2)2NH-CH2]2C6H4)H2O]. Their crystal structures were determined from X-ray powder diffraction or derived from crystallographic relations. The use of H3BTB (1,3,5-benzenetrisbenzoicacid) and Bi(NO3)3*5H2O allowed the synthesis of the first highly porous bismuth carboxylate Bi(BTB) with a specific surface area of 1150 m^2/g (BET). The compound is catalytic active in the hydroxymethylation of furan. The crystal structure was determined by a combination of electron diffraction, Rietveld refinement and DFT calculations. In addition in situ EDXRD was employed to investigate the crystallization of bismuth carboxylates for the first time. Depending on the linkermolecule pyromellitic acid (H4Pyr), trimellitic acid (H3Tri) and trimesic acid (H3BDC) under similar reaction intermediates occur that were isolated and fully characterized.

Das Thema dieser Arbeit ist die Funktionalisierung und Modifizierung von anorga-nisch-organischen Hybridverbindungen. Dabei wurden die in der Literatur beschriebenen Varianten des Einsatzes von funktionalisierten Linkern sowie die post-synthetische Modifizierung angewendet. Des Weiteren konnte gezeigt werden, dass sich post-synthetisch modifizierte Cr-MIL-101-Derivate zum Nanocasting und zur chiralen Trennung von Enantiomerengemischen eignen. Zur Synthese der Materialien wurde auf die Hydrothermalsynthese, Hochdurchsatzmethodik (HT-Methodik), Mikrowellensynthese und sonochemische Synthese zurückgegriffen. Zur ausführlichen Charakterisierung der Verbindungen wurden Röntgenpulverdiffraktometrie, Gassorptionsmessungen, IR- und Raman-Spektroskopie, Thermogravimetrie sowie Festkörper- und Lösungs NMR-Spektroskopie durchgeführt. Der Einsatz funktionalisierter Linkermoleküle führte im ersten Teil der Arbeit zu funktionalisierten anorganisch-organischen Hybridverbindungen. Dazu wurde das photoschaltbare Molekül 2-Phenylazoimidazol synthetisiert und in die neue Verbindung [Zn(C3H3N2)(C3H2N2-N=N-C6H5)] eingebaut. Die zu ZIF-8 isostrukturelle Verbindung zeigt unter Einstrahlung von UV- und sichtbarem Licht ein partiell reversibles Schaltverhalten. Durch Einsatz einfach-funktionalisierter Terephthalsäurederivate wurden neue Cr-MIL-101-Derivate hergestellt. So konnte jeweils das Bromterephthalsäure- und Hydroxyterephthalsäurederivat erhalten werden sowie ein Mischlinker Cr-MIL-101, welches sowohl Amino- als auch Hydroxygruppen enthält. Der zweite Teil der Arbeit befasst sich mit der post-synthetischen Modifizie-rung von Cr-MIL-101. Dabei wurden sowohl die anorganische als auch die organische Baueinheit modifiziert. So konnte in einer elektrophilen Aromatensubstitution eine Nitrogruppe eingeführt werden, welche zur Aminogruppe reduziert wurde. Diese wurde mit Ethylisocyanat zum Ethylharnstoffderivat weiter derivatisiert. Post-synthetische Modifizierung an der anorganischen Baueinheit konnte durch Ligandenaustausch an den Cr(III)-Zentren unter Einsatz von Aminopropyltriethoxysilan erreicht werden. Potentielle Anwendungsgebiete der post-syntethisch modifizierten Cr-MIL-101-Verbindungen wurden im dritten Teil der Arbeit erschlossen. In einem Nanocas-ting-Prozess wurde das aminopropyltriethylsilan-funktionalisierte Cr-MIL-101 mit Resorcin infiltriert, welches innerhalb des Porensystems polymerisiert und das ge-wonnene Komposit pyrolysiert wurde. Es zeigte sich, dass der so erhaltene mikroporöse Kohlenstoff die gekappt-oktaedrische Morphologie der Cr-MIL-101-Kristalle aufweist. Chirale Gruppen ließen sich mittels post-synthetischer Modifizierung in die Gerüststruktur von Cr-MIL-101-NH2 durch Reaktion mit (S) 2 Acetoxybernsteinsäureanhydrid einbringen. Der so gewonnene chirale Cr MIL 101 AH wurde in Batch-Experimenten zur Trennung von Enantiomeren ein-gesetzt. Die Quantifizierung der Enantiomere nebeneinander wurde durch Zusatz eines chiralen Lanthanoid-Shiftreagenz durchgeführt. Es zeigte sich, dass die Verbindung in der Lage ist, Racemate von chiralen Sulfoxiden und chiralen Alkoholen zu trennen. So konnte bei dem Trennversuch von tert-Butylmethylsulfoxid ein Enantiomerenüberschuss von 31 % erreicht werden. The topic of this work is the functionalization and modification of inorganic-organic hybrid compounds. The use of functionalized linker molecules for MOF syntheses as well as the post-synthetic modification are described. Furthermore, it is shown that the modified Cr-MIL-101 compounds are useful for nanocasting and chiral separation procedures. Materials were prepared by hydrothermal syntheses, high-throughput (HT) syntheses, microwave assisted and ultrasound assisted syntheses. Detailed characterizations were carried out using X-ray powder diffraction, gas sorption measurements, IR and Raman spectroscopy, thermogravimetric measurements as well as solid state and liquid NMR-spectroscopy. In the first part of the work, functionalized linker molecules were used to obtain functionalized inorganic-organic hybrid compounds. 2-Phenylazoimidazole was synthesized and incorporated into the new compound [Zn3(C3H3N2)(C3H2N2-N=N-C6H5)] which is isostructural to ZIF-8 and crystallizes in a sodalite-type structure. The irradiation of the compound with UV and visible light leads to a partial reversible isomerization behavior. Functionalized Cr-MIL-101 materials were prepared using bromo- or hydroxy-functionalized terephthalic acid derivatives. Bifunctional mixed linker Cr-MIL-101 was also synthesized containing amino- and hydroxy functionalities. The second part of the work describes the post-synthetic modification of the inorganic building blocks as well as the organic linker molecules of Cr MIL 101. The nitrated compound was prepared by electrophilic aromatic nitration. Nitro groups were subsequently reduced to amino groups, which in turn were reacted with ethyl isocyanate to obtain the ethyl urea derivative. Post-synthetic modification of the inorganic building blocks was achieved by ligand substitution at the Cr3+ ions employing aminopropyltriethoxysilane. Potential applications of the post-synthetic modified compounds were devel-oped in the third part of the work. In a nanocasting process the aminopropyltriethoxysilane functionalized Cr-MIL-101 was infiltrated with resorcinol which was polymerized within the network. The composite was pyrolized and produed a microporous carbon that exhibited the same morphology as the initial Cr-MIL-101 crystals. In an alternative approach, chiral groups were introduced into Cr-MIL-101 by reaction of Cr-MIL-101-NH2 with (S)-2-acetoxy succinic anhydride. This yielded chiral Cr-MIL-101-AH, which was employed in a batch experiment for the separation of enantiomers. The ratio of enantiomers was determined by addition of a lanthanoid NMR-shift reagent. It was shown that the chiral MIL-101 material can separate racemic mixtures of chiral sulfoxides and chiral alcohols. In a separation experiment with tert-butylmethylsulfoxide an enantiomeric excess of 31 % was reached.

Neue anorganisch-organischer Hybridverbindungen basierend auf dem Organogermanat (HOOCCH2CH2Ge)2O3 und den primären Aminoalkylphosphonsäuren H2O3PCnH2nNH2, (n = 2 – 4) wurden unter Einsatz von Hochdurchsatzmethoden synthetisiert. Diese Methodik ermöglichte eine effiziente Untersuchung des Parameterraums. Insgesamt wurden zehn neue Hybridverbindungen erhalten, welche alle durch XRPD-Messungen, IR/Raman-Spektroskopie, C,H,N-Elementaranalyse, Thermogravimetrie und EDX-Messungen charakterisiert wurden. Die Kristallstrukturen wurden sowohl aus Einkristall- und Pulverröntgenbeugungsdaten als auch durch Strukturmodellierung unter Verwendung von Kraftfeld-Methoden bestimmt. Zum genaueren Verständnis des Reaktionsverlaufs wurden ausgewählte Reaktionen zusätzlich durch in situ energiedispersive Röntgenbeugung verfolgt. Im ersten Teil der Arbeit wurde das System M2+/(HOOCCH2CH2Ge)2O3)/H2O/2-Propanol (M = Ca, Cu) im zweiten Teil das Systems M2+/(H2O3PCnH2nNH2)/H2O/NaOH (M = Ca, Zn) untersucht.

In der vorliegenden Arbeit wurde auf drei unterschiedlichen Synthesewegen die Einbringung photoschaltbarer Azobenzolderivate in anorganisch-organische Hybridverbindungen durchgeführt. Neben der Synthese und Charakterisierung der azofunktionalisierten Hybridverbindungen stand die Untersuchung der reversiblen cis/trans Isomerisierung mit Hinblick auf die Änderungen der Sorptionseigenschaften („Funktion durch Schalten“) im Mittelpunkt des Interesses. Im ersten Syntheseweg wurde die Adsorption von Azobenzolderivaten in HKUST-1 und Al-MIL-100 aus Lösung oder über die Gasphase verfolgt. Die cis/trans Isomerisierung der Azogruppe konnte mit Hilfe der UV/Vis-Spektroskopie für eingelagertes Azobenzol und 3-Phenylazopyridin nachgewiesen werden. Eingelagertes 4-Phenylazopyridin zeigte keine cis/trans Isomerisierung in den UV/Vis-Spektren. Aufgrund der geringen Wechselwirkungen der Farbstoffmoleküle mit dem MOF-Gerüst konnten keine, über längere Zeit, stabile Wirt-Gast-Systeme erhalten werden. Durch den direkten Einbau des photoschaltbaren Linkermoleküls 3-Azo-phenyl-4,4´-bipyridin (AzBIPY) im zweiten Syntheseweg wurden insgesamt sechs neue kristalline anorganisch-organische Hybridverbindungen synthetisiert und charakterisiert. Die interessanteste Verbindung ist sicherlich [Zn2(NDC)2(AzBIPY)] (Zn-CAU-5). Trotz interpenetrierender Gitter in dieser Struktur konnte unter Verwendung der UV/Vis-Spektroskopie reversible cis/trans Isomerisierung der in die Poren ragenden Azogruppen gezeigt werden. Diese Ergebnisse wurden mit Belichtungsexperimenten während Röntgenpulverbeugungsmessungen bestätigt. Der Einfluss der cis/trans Isomerisierung auf die Sorptionseigenschaften konnte allerdings nicht beobachtet werden. Um diesen Vorgang beobachten zu können, werden große Porenräume und nicht interpenetrierende Strukturen benötigt. Daher wurde im dritten Syntheseweg, zur Einbringung photoschaltbarer Azobenzolderivate, die post-synthetische Modifizierung von Cr-MIL-101-NH2 untersucht. Cr-MIL-101-NH2 wurde mit zwei verschiedenen Azobenzolderivaten umgesetzt: p-Phenylazobenzoylchlorid und 4-(Phenylazo)phenylisocyanat. In beiden Fällen konnte die erfolgreiche Modifizierung mittels IR- und NMR-Spektroskopie nachgewiesen werden. Die partiell reversible cis/trans Isomerisierung wurde in aufgenommenen UV/Vis-Spektren eindeutig beobachtet. Eine „Funktion durch Schalten“ der Verbindungen wurde durch Sorptionsmessungen mit CH4 als Adsorptiv beobachtet. In the present study, three different synthesis routes were investigated for the introduction of photo switchable azobenzene derivatives in inorganic-organic hybrid compounds. In addition to the synthesis and characterization of the azo-functionalized hybrid compounds the focus was set on the reversible cis/trans isomerization and its influence on the sorption properties ("Function by Switching"). In the first synthetic route, the adsorption of azobenzene derivatives in HKUST-1 and Al-MIL-100 was followed from solution or via the gas phase. The cis/trans isomerization of the azo-group was detected by UV/Vis-spectroscopy of intercalated azobenzene and 3-phenylazopyridine. Intercalated 4-phenylazopyridine showed no cis/trans isomerization. Due to the weak interactions of the dye molecules with the MOF host no stable host-guest systems could be obtained. In the second synthetic route six new crystalline inorganic-organic hybrid compounds were synthesized and characterized by direct incorporation of the photo switchable linker molecule 3-azo-phenyl-4,4'-bipyridine (AzBIPY). Thus [Zn2(NDC)2(AzBIPY)] (Zn-CAU-5) was identified as the most interesting compound. Despite the presence of interpenetrating networks reversible cis/trans isomerization of the azo-groups could be detected by UV/Vis-spectroscopy. These results were also confirmed by X-ray powder diffraction measurements. No influence of the cis/trans isomerization on the sorption properties could be observed. Large pores and non interpenetrating networks should improve the switching properties. Therefore, in the third synthesis route for introducing photo switchable azobenzene derivatives in MOFs the post-synthetic modification was investigated. The compound Cr-MIL-101-NH2 was modified with two different functionalized azobenzene compounds: p-phenylazobenzoylchloride and 4-(phenylazo)phenylisocyanate and the Cr-MIL-101 derivatives Cr-MIL-101_amide and Cr-MIL-101_urea were obtained. In both cases, the successful modification was confirmed by IR- and NMR-spectroscopy. The partially reversible cis/trans isomerization was demonstrated by UV/Vis-spectroscopy. A "Function by Switching" of the compounds was observed by sorption measurements with CH4 as an adsorbate.

In der vorliegenden Arbeit wurden die Synthese und die Eigenschaften neuer poröser Gerüstverbindungen basierend auf Al3+- und Mn3+-Ionen und aromatischen Polycarboxylaten (Linkermolekülen) verschiedener Geometrie und Größe untersucht. Zur Entdeckung und zur Syntheseoptimierung der neuen Verbindungen wurden dabei in fast allen Fällen Hochdurchsatzmethoden genutzt. Ausgehend von Linkermolekülen linearer Geometrie konnten zwei neue Netzwerkstrukturen entdeckt werden. In Methanol konnten unter solvothermalen Bedingungen drei zueinander isoretikuläre Verbindungen hergestellt werden. Alle drei Verbindungen basieren auf [Al12(OCH3)24]12+-Clustern, die durch lineare Dicarboxylate dreidimensional verknüpft werden. Durch die Wahl des Linkermoleküls konnten die Porengrößen und damit die Sorptionseigenschaften moduliert werden. In Isopropanol konnte des Weiteren eine Verbindung erhalten werden, die auf 2-Aminoterephthalat und säulenförmigen Aluminium-Sauerstoff-Baueinheiten basiert. Die Ladung des kationischen Gerüsts wird durch eingelagerte Chlorid-Ionen ausgeglichen, deren polare Natur in Kombination mit protischen funktionellen Gruppen zu einer stark hydrophilen Oberfläche des Gerüsts führt. Zwei weitere Verbindungen konnten durch den Einsatz tritopischer Linkermoleküle erhalten werden. Im System Al3+ / 1,3,5 Benzentrisbenzoesäure (H3BTB) / DMF wurde die Verbindung [Al(BTB)] hergestellt. Die Struktur weist hexagonale Kanäle mit einem Durchmesser von etwa 1 nm auf. Die Verbindung [Mn3O(H2O)3(BTC)2] wurde ausgehend von Mn(NO3)2∙4H2O und Trimesinsäure (H3BTC) erhalten. Mn2+-Ionen werden unter solvothermalen Bedingungen zu Mn3+-Ionen oxidiert, welche dann das Gerüst ausbilden. Ausgehend von Al3+-Ionen und gewinkelten Dicarbonsäuren konnten elf weitere poröse Verbindungen hergestellt werden. Basierend auf Isophthalsäure (1,3-H2BDC) oder in 5-Position funktionalisierten Derivaten der Isophthalsäure konnten sieben verschiedene Verbindungen mit der allgemeinen Summenformel [Al(OH)(1,3 BDC X)] hergestellt werden. Durch den Einsatz von verschieden funktionalisierten Isopthalsäuren konnten drei Verbindungen erhalten werden welche dieselbe Gerüststruktur aufweisen und verschiedene Linkermoleküle enthalten. Durch die funktionellen Gruppen werden kleine Unterschiede in der Kristallstruktur induziert, die zu massiven Veränderungen des Sorptionsverhaltens führen. Ausgehend von Benzophenondicarbonsäure (H2BPDC) konnte außerdem die Verbindung [Al(OH)(BPDC)] erhalten werden. Diese weist eindimensionale Kanäle auf, die mit funktionellen Ketogruppen ausgekleidet sind. This thesis deals with the synthesis and properties of new porous metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) based on Al3+- and Mn3+-ions and polytopic aromatic carboxylates of varying size and shape. For the discovery and synthesis optimisation, in most cases high-throughput methods were applied. Two new framework structures were discovered starting from linear linker molecules. Three isoreticular compounds incorporating different linker molecules were synthesised in methanol under solvothermal reaction conditions. They are all based on the same unprecedented [Al12(OCH3)24]12+-cluster, which is connected to adjacent inorganic building units via the organic moieties. The choice of the linker molecule determines the size of the pores and thus the sorption properties of the respective compound. Another new compound based on 2-aminoterephthalic acid and infinite column-shaped aluminium-oxygen-building units was obtained in 2-propanol. The framework charge of this compound is compensated by embedded chloride ions, which results in a highly polar, hydrophilic surface. Employing tritopic linker molecules, two new MOFs were synthesized. Using 1,3,5-benzenetrisbenzoic acid (H3BTB), the compound [Al(BTB)] was discovered in DMF as the solvent. Its framework exhibits large hexagonal channels with a diameter of ~ 1 nm. Starting from Mn(NO3)2∙4H2O and trimesic acid (H3BTC), the compound [Mn3O(H2O)3(BTC)2] was obtained. This MOF is based on Mn3+-ions which are generated in-situ under solvothermal reaction conditions. Employing V-shaped dicarboxylates and Al3+-salts, eleven new compounds were obtained. Using isophthalic acid (1,3-H2BDC) or one of its functionalised derivatives, seven differently functionalised MOFs with isoreticular structures and the general formula [Al(OH)(1,3-BDC-X)] could be synthesised. The use of mixtures of isophthalic acids led to the synthesis of three additional compounds incorporating at least two different linker molecules. The functional groups induce subtle structural differences which result in a massively modulated sorption behaviour. The use of benzophenonedicarboxylic acid (H2BPDC) resulted in the formation of the new compound [Al(OH)(BPDC)]. Its framework structure exhibits onedimensional channels which are lined with keto-groups.

The focus of this Ph.D. work is to systematically investigate the formation of inorganic-organic hybrid materials with different metal ions and polyfunctional organic linkers. The synthesis and characterization of the materials were performed under solvothermal conditions employing high-throughput (HT) methods. The HT methods incorporate the parallelization of individual reactions in miniaturized Teflon® reactors and the subsequent characterization of the crystalline products via automated HT-XRPD analysis. The HT methods have enabled the rapid study of the influences of compositional and process parameters on the formation fields and helped to optimize the synthesis conditions. In the first part of the thesis, the reaction system M2+/H2O3PC6H4SO3H/ NaOH/H2O was investigated (M = Ni,Mg,Cu,Zn,Co,Fe,Mn,Sn,Cd,Sr, Pb and Ba). The evaluation of the metal-ion screening yielded six metal 4-phosphonatobenzenesulfonates with Cu2+, Sn2+ and Pb2+ ions. Further detailed investigation of the molar ratio metal salt : linker : NaOH has helped to pinpoint the specific formation fields of each compound. Various M-O-M polyhedra and clusters are observed in the crystal structures which lead to 2D or 3D networks, especially in copper-based structures. A mixed-linker copper phosphonatosulfonate was also obtained with the auxiliary ligand 4,4’-bipyridine which exhibits an interesting reversible structural transition upon de-/rehydration. The characterization of the metal phosphonatosulfonates was performed with X-ray powder and single crystal X-ray diffraction, magnetic susceptibility measurements, thermogravimetric (TG) analysis, energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) and CHNS elemental analysis, infrared (IR) spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The second part of the thesis deals with the discovery and characterization of porous nickel(II) based metal-organic frameworks containing paddle-wheel building units. The dimeric paddle-wheel units are comprised of Ni2+ ions that are coordinated by four equatorial R(COO)- groups and two axial terminal ligands. The reaction system Ni2+/R(COOH)3/ additive / solvent, with R = C6H3, 1,3,5-(C6H4)3C6H3, was systematically investigated through screening of nickel salts, organic bases and solvents at various reaction temperatures. Two nickel(II) based compounds with paddle-wheel units were obtained with 1,3,5- benzenetricarboxylic (H3BTC) and 4,4’,4’’-benzene-1,3,5-triyl-tris-benzoic acid (H3BTB). In addition, two pseudo-polymorphs with the framework composition [Ni2(BDC)2(DABCO)] (H2BDC = terephthalic acid, DABCO = 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane) were discovered. For the phase selective synthesis, the influence of conventional vs. microwave-assisted heating, DABCO amount, stirring, overall concentration and reaction temperature was examined in detail. After the optimization of synthesis conditions, the scale-up of all four nickel(II) paddle-wheel compounds was accomplished and all the compounds were characterized via sorption experiments, IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis, SEM measurements and TG analysis. Der Schwerpunkt dieser Doktorarbeit ist die systematische Untersuchung der Bildung anorganisch-organischer Hybridmaterialien mit verschiedenen Metallionen und polyfunktionellen organischen Linkern. Die Synthese und Charakterisierung der Materialien wurden unter solvothermalen Bedingungen mit Hilfe von Hochdurchsatz (HT)-Methoden durchgeführt. Die HT-Methoden umfassen die Parallelisierung der einzelnen Reaktionen in Miniatur-Teflon® Reaktoren und die anschließende Charakterisierung der kristallinen Produkte mittels automatisierter HT-XRPD Analyse. Diese Methoden ermöglichen die schnelle Untersuchung der Einflüsse von Edukt-Zusammensetzungen und Prozessparametern auf die Kristallbildung. Im ersten Teil dieser Dissertation wurde das Reaktionssystem M2+/H2O3PC6H4SO3H/NaOH/H2O (M = Ni,Mg,Cu,Zn, Co,Fe,Mn,Sn,Cd,Sr,Pb and Ba) erforscht. Die Auswertung des Metallion-Screenings ergab sechs Metall-4-phosphonatobenzolsulfonate mit Cu2+, Sn2+ and Pb2+-Ionen. Weitere detaillierte Untersuchungen bei denen das molare Verhältnis Metallsalzen : Linker : NaOH untersucht wurde, half bei der Bestimmung der spezifischen Phasenbildungsbereiche jeder Verbindung. Unterschiedliche M-O Polyeder und M-O-M Cluster wurden in den Kristallstrukturen beobachtet, die zur Bildung von 2D oder 3D M-O Netzwerken geführt haben, insbesondere in den Kupfer-basierten Verbindungen. Ein Misch-Linker Cu-Phosphonatosulfonat wurde auch mit 4,4’-Bipyridin als Co-Ligand erhalten, das eine reversible Strukturumwandlung unter De-/Rehydratisierung aufweist. Die Charakterisierung der Metallphosphonatosulfonate wurde mittels Röntgenpulver- und Einkristallröntgenbeugung, Magnetsuszeptibilitätsmessungen, thermogravimetrischer Analyse (TGA), energiedispersiver Röntgenspektroskopie (EDX), CHNS Elementaranalyse, Infrarotspektroskopie (IR) und Rasterelektronmikroskopie (REM) durchgeführt. Der zweite Teil dieser Arbeit befasst sich mit der Entdeckung und Charakterisierung poröser Nickel(II)-basierter metall-organischer Gerüstverbindungen mit Schaufelrad-Baueinheiten. Die Schaufelrad-Dimere bestehen aus Ni2+-Ionen, die von vier äquitorialen R(COO)- Gruppen und zwei axialen Liganden umgeben sind. Das Reaktionssystem Ni2+/R(COOH)3/Additiv/Lösungsmittel, mit R = C6H3, 1,3,5-(C6H4)3C6H3, wurde systematisch durch Screening von Nickelsalzen, organischen Basen und Lösungsmitteln bei verschiedenen Reaktionstemperaturen untersucht. Zwei nickelbasierte Verbindungen mit Schaufelrad-Einheiten wurden mit 1,3,5-Benzoltricarbonsäure (H3BTC) and 4,4’,4’’-Benzol-1,3,5-triyl-trisbenzoesäure (H3BTB) erhalten. Zusätzlich wurden zwei Pseudopolymorphe mit der Gerüstzusammensetzung [Ni2(BDC)2(DABCO)] (H2BDC = Terephthalsäure, DABCO = 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]oktan) entdeckt. Die Optimierung der Reaktionsbedingungen führte zu einphasigen Produkten. Dazu wurde der Einfluss der Heizmethode (konventionelle vs. Mikrowellen-unterstützte Synthese), die DABCO-Menge, das Rühren, die Gesamtkonzentration und die Reaktionstemperaturen untersucht. Nach der Optimierung der Synthese, konnten alle vier Nickel(II)-Verbindungen, die Schaufelrad-Baueinheiten enthalten, in größeren Mengen hergestellt und ausführlich mittels Sorptionsmessung, IR-Spektroskopie, Elementaranalyse, REM und thermogravimetrischer Analyse charakterisiert werden.

Die vorliegende Arbeit befasst sich mit der Synthese und Analyse von Molybdänkomplexen mit tripodalen Liganden zur Stickstofffixierung. Ein Molybdän(III)-Komplex mit dem kommerziell erhältlichen P3-Tripodligand 1,1,1-Tris(diphenylphosphino-methyl)ethan wurde dargestellt und verschiedene Möglichkeiten aufgezeigt, diesen mit verschiedenen Coliganden zu Stickstoffkomplexen umzusetzen, die in der Lage sind, den N2-Liganden für eine Protonierung zu dem entsprechenden Hydrazidokomplex zu aktivieren. Die Komplexe wurden NMR-, IR-, ESR-, UV/Vis-, Raman-spektroskopisch, röntgenstrukturanalytisch und elektrochemisch untersucht. Es wurde weiterhin untersucht, ob eine Pentaphosphinkoordination auch mit Molybdänkomplexen der Oxidationsstufe drei möglich ist. Ferner wurde die Darstellung von mehreren tripodalen Liganden in einem Syntheseweg, ausgehend von 3,3'-Dichlorpivalinsäure, beschrieben, die zwei Diphenylphosphingruppen und eine Amingruppe mit verschiedenen Resten tragen. Die so zugänglichen Liganden wurden ebenfalls zu Molybdän(III)komplexen umgesetzt und ihr Potential Stickstoff zu fixieren und zu aktivieren, untersucht. Es wurde weiterhin eine Synthese für einen fünfzähnigen Liganden mit vier Diphenylphosphin-Donoratomen und einem Amin-Donoratom entwickelt und dessen Potential getestet, N2-Komplexe zu bilden. Es wurden außerdem versucht verschiedene Ruthenium- und Eisen(II)komplexe mit allen in dieser Arbeit verwendeten tripodalen Liganden zu synthetisieren und versucht, eine Pentaphosphinkoordination an Eisen und Ruthenium zu erreichen. This work is concerned with the synthesis and spectroscopic characterisation of molybdenum complexes with tripodal ligands for nitrogen fixation. A molybdenum(III) complex with the commercially available ligand 1,1,1-tris(diphenylphosphino-methyl)ethane was prepared and converted into miscellaneous nitrogen complexes by the aid of several different coligands. Some of these complexes enable the N2-ligand to be protonated to the corresponding hydrazido complex by the aid of trifluoromethanesulfonic acid. The complexes were analysed by NMR-, IR-, ESR-, UV/Vis-, Raman spectroscopy, X-ray analysis and cyclic voltammetry. Furthermore, it was investigated if a pentaphosphine coordination in molybdenum(III) complexes can be achived. Moreover, the synthesis of a number of tripodal ligands bearing two phosphine donors and one amine donor based on 3,3'-dichloropivalic acid is described. Molybdenum(III) complexes were synthesised with these ligands and their potential for nitrogen fixation was investigated. On top of that a synthesis of a ligand with four phosphine donors and one amine donor was developed and its capability of forming N2-complexes was tested. In addition it was tried to form ruthenium and iron complexes with all previously mentioned tripodal ligands and to construct a pentaphosphine coordination on both molybdenum and iron metal centers.

The thesis consists of two parts: 1. The preparation of new materials based on thioindates and indium sulfides with possible photoactive properties. The synthesized materials were tested in the areas of photovoltaics, photocatalysis and/or photoluminescence. 2. The second part of the work deals with the fabrication of multilayers of SRO (Silicon Rich Oxide) with high Si contents and SiO2 prepared by LPCVD (Low Pressure Chemical Vapor Deposition) as well as with studies on their structural, morphologic, optical and luminescent properties. Die Dissertation umfasst zwei Teile: 1. Die Darstellung neuer Materialien auf Basis von Thioindaten und Indiumsulfiden, die photoaktive Eigenschaften aufweisen können. Die hergestellten Materialien wurden auf den Gebieten der Photoelektronik, Photokatalyse und/oder Photolumineszenz getestet. 2. Der zweite Teil der Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit der Darstellung von Multi-Schichten aus SRO (Silicon Rich Oxide) mit hohem Si-Gehalt und SiO2 durch die LPCVD-Methode (Low Pressure Chemical Vapor Deposition) sowie den Untersuchungen ihrer strukturellen, morphologischen, optischen und lumineszierenden Eigenschaften.

In der vorliegenden Arbeit wurden die polyfunktionalisierten Phosphonsäuren H2O3P-CnH2n-SO3H (n = 2 und 4) sowie (H2O3P)3C6H3 hergestellt und durch Reaktionen unter solvothermalen Bedingungen mit Metall-Salzen zu anorganisch-organischen Hybridverbindungen umgesetzt. Von großem Interesse waren hierbei vor allem Phosphonosulfonsäuren, da diese bisher in der Literatur kaum beschrieben wurden. Die Reaktionssysteme Ln3+/H2O3P-C2H4-SO3H/NaOH/H2O (Ln3+ = La-Lu), M2+/H2O3P-CnH2n-SO3H/NaOH/H2O (M2+ = Ba2+, Sr2+ und Cu2+) und Zn2+/(H2O3P)3C6H3/NaOH/H2O wurden, unter Zuhilfenahme der im Arbeitskreis Stock vorliegenden Hochdurchsatz-Methoden, systematisch untersucht. Die Versuchsauswertung der jeweiligen Systeme führte zu großen Datenmengen, woraus oft Reaktionstrends hinsichtlich Kristallwachstums, Kondensationsgrad der Teilstrukturen, Dimensionalität der Struktur (Schicht- bzw. Gerüststruktur), etc. abgeleitet werden konnten. Zudem ermöglichte diese Methode eine effiziente und schnelle Entdeckung bzw. Abgrenzung der jeweiligen Phasenstabilitätsbereiche der entsprechenden Verbindungen. Insgesamt konnten so 29 neue Verbindungen hergestellt und ausführlich charakterisiert werden. Als Beispiele können hier Ln(O3P-C2H4-SO3)(H2O) (Ln = La-Dy), MH(O3P-C2H4-SO3) (M = Sr, Ba) oder Zn2Na2[(HO3P)3C6H3]2 genannt werden. Soweit möglich wurden alle Verbindungen durch Aufskalierung des Reaktionsansatzes in konventionellen Reaktoren in größeren Mengen hergestellt. Zur Charakterisierung dienten folgende Methoden: Pulverdiffraktometrie, Einkristallstrukturanalyse, optische Spektroskopiemethoden, magnetische Suszeptibilitätsmessung, Thermogravimetrie und Rasterelektronenmikroskopie. Das Potential der Hochdurchsatz-Methoden zur Syntheseoptimierung wurde im Rahmen der isoretikulären Synthese von hochporösem chromhaltigen MIL-101 auf Basis von 2,6-Naphthalindicarbonsäure im Reaktionssystem CrX3/HO2C-C10H6-CO2H/Lösungsmittel/ Additive (X = NO3-, Cl-, etc.) gezeigt. Als wichtige Einflussfaktoren auf die Produktbildung haben sich die Temperaturführung (Heizrate und Reaktionsdauer), die Edukte (z.B. Cr3+-Quelle), das Lösungsmittel und die Anwesenheit von CH3COOH erwiesen. Nach der erfolgreichen Synthese von MIL-101_NDC wurde eine Aktivierungsprozedur entwickelt und optimiert. Die Verbindung wurde anschließend im Detail durch Struktursimulation, Sorptionsmessungen, TEM-Untersuchung, IR- und Raman-Spektroskopie sowie Thermogravimetrie charakterisiert. The presented work deals with the synthesis of the polyfunctional phosphonic acids H2O3P-CnH2n-SO3H (n = 2 und 4) and (H2O3P)3C6H3 as well as their reaction with metal salts under solvothermal conditions to inorganic-organic hybrid compounds. Especially the use of phosphonosulfonic acids was of interest since only few results on their use are reported in the literature. The reaction systems Ln3+/H2O3P-C2H4-SO3H/NaOH/H2O (Ln3+ = La-Lu), M2+/H2O3P-CnH2n-SO3H/NaOH/H2O (M2+ = Ba2+, Sr2+ and Cu2+) and Zn2+/(H2O3P)3C6H3/ NaOH/H2O were systematically investigated using high-throughput methods, which were developed in the group of Prof. Stock. The evaluation of the experiments led to large amounts of data and often reaction trends could be extracted regarding to crystal growth, grade of condensation of sub-structure units, dimensionality of the structures (layered or framework compounds). Furthermore, this methodology allows a fast and efficient way to discover new compounds and to determine their fields of formation. In summary 29 new compounds could be synthesized and characterized in detail. Examples are Ln(O3P-C2H4-SO3)(H2O) (Ln = La-Dy), MH(O3P-C2H4-SO3) (M = Sr, Ba) and Zn2Na2[(HO3P)3C6H3]2. Whenever possible the compounds were synthesized in larger amounts using conventional reactors. The compounds were characterized in detail by powder X-ray diffraction, single-crystal structure analysis, optical spectroscopy, magnetic susceptibility measurements, thermogravimetric measurements, and scanning-electron-microscopy. The potential of the high-throughput methods for the synthesis optimization was demonstrated in the isoreticular synthesis of the highly porous chromium containing MIL-101 based on 2,6-naphthalene¬dicarboxylic acid (MIL-101_NDC). Thus, the reaction system CrX3/HO2C-C10H6-CO2H/solvents/additives (X = NO3-, Cl-, etc.) was investigated. The temperature control (heating and cooling rate), starting materials (Cr3+ source), and solvent as well as the presence of acetic acid play an important role. After the synthesis of MIL-101_NDC an activation procedure was developed and optimized for removing the guest molecules from the pores. The compound was characterized in detail by structure simulation, sorption experiments, TEM-investigations, IR- and Raman-spectroscopy as well as thermogravimetric analysis.

Im Rahmen dieser Dissertation wurden Strukturuntersuchungen an den Ge-Sb-Te- basierten Phasenwechsellegierungen durchgeführt, um ein atomares Verständnis des bisher nicht vollständig verstandenen Schreib- und Löschvorgangs zu erhalten. Bei allen Phasenwechselverbindungen wird angenommen, dass im metastabilen kristallinen Zustand die NaCl-Struktur gebildet wird. Vor diesem Hintergrund wurden Röntgenbeugungsmessungen und hochauflösende Analysen mit Transmissionselektronenmikroskopie durchgeführt, um detaillierte Informationen über die kristallinen Strukturen zu gewinnen. Ergänzt wurden diese Analysen durch lokale Methoden (EXAFS, PDF), um den Einfluss der Leerstellenkonzentration auf den Umschaltvorgang herausarbeiten zu können. Zusätzlich wurden die elektrische Leitfähigkeit, die Ladungsträgerkonzentration, Ladungsträgerbeweglichkeit und der Seebeck-Koeffizient der Verbindungen bestimmt, um das Potential von Phasenwechsellegierungen als Thermoelektrika auszuloten. Durch die (teilweise) Substitution einzelner Elemente in den Phasenwechselverbindungen konnte ein besseres Verständnis der Zusammenhänge zwischen Stöchiometrie, Struktur und physikalisch-chemischen Eigenschaften erarbeitet werden.Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit wird der Einfluss der partiellen Substitution von Te durch Se in Ge2Sb2Te5 und GeSb2Te4 sowie die vollständige Substitution von Sb durch Bi in Ge2Sb2Te5 auf die strukturellen und opto-elektronischen Eigenschaften hin untersucht.

In this thesis, iron-porphyrin NO complexes with and without axial ligand (N-donor or S-donor)have been synthesized as models for NO bound heme proteins present in biological systems such as bacterial nitric oxide reductase (NorBC), fungal nitric oxide reductase (P450nor), nitrophorins, soluble guanylate cyclase, and nitric oxide synthase. The detailed spectroscopic investigations, electronic structures, and reactivities of these model systems are presented in this work. The difference in the electronic structures between the five-coordinate (5C) [FeII(TPP)(NO)] and the six-coordinate (6C) [FeII(TPP)(MI)(NO)] (TPP = tetraphenylporphyrin; MI = 1-methylimidazole) has been evaluated using magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) spectroscopy together with DFT calculations. The MCD C term is observed in the 5C case due to a large transfer of spin density from NO to Fe(II), resulting in an electronic structure with noticeable Fe(I)-NO+ character. Upon binding the sixth ligand, the electron density is pushed back from the iron to NO, resulting in an Fe(II)-NO(radical) type electronic structure (MCD A and B terms). UV-vis and 1H NMR binding studies of N-donor ligands to the 5C complexes indicate that the coordination of axial ligands weakens the Fe-NO bond, thereby inducing denitrosylation. The obtained force constants of N-O and Fe-NO bonds are larger for the 5C compared to the 6C case, also in accordance with the weakening of the Fe-NO bond in the 6C complexes. DFT calculations show that the formation of nitrosyl complexes is energetically more favorable for ferrous compared to ferric systems by ~7.5 kcal/mol. The thiolate coordinated Fe(II)-NO complexes have been synthesized and investigated in solution using EPR spectroscopy. From the obtained g values and 14N hyperfine splittings, it is concluded that the interaction of thiolates with the Fe(II)-NO center is weak. In addition, the interaction of NO with [FeIII(TPP)(SPhF4)] has been investigated at low temperature using in-situ UV-vis spectroscopy. The synthesis of a stable six-coordinate complex in solution, in the absence of excess base, has been achieved with covalently attached axial N-donor ligands to iron(II)-porhyrins. The ν(NO) value of 1644 cm-1 from FT-IR shows weaker binding of benzyl linked imidazole to the Fe(II)-NO center compared to free MI. Furthermore, a heme/non-heme dinitrosyl complex has been synthesized and characterized as a complete structural model for the NorBC active site. In dieser Arbeit wurden Eisenporphyrin-NO Komplexe mit und ohne axialen Liganden (N- oder S-Donor) als Modellsysteme für NO-gebundene Hämproteine synthetisiert, welche in biologischen Systemen wie der bakteriellen Stickstoffmonoxidreduktase (NorBC), der Stickstoffmonoxidreduktase in Pilzen (P450nor), den Nitrophorinen, der löslichen Guanylatcyclase und der Stickstoffmonoxidsynthase vorkommen. Detaillierte spektroskopische Untersuchungen der elektronischen Strukturen und Reaktivitäten dieser Modellsysteme werden hier vorgestellt. Die Unterschiede in den elektronischen Strukturen zwischen fünffach-koordiniertem (5C)[FeII(TPP)(NO)] und sechsfach-koordiniertem (6C) [FeII(TPP)(MI)(NO)] (TPP = Tetraphenylporphyrin; MI = 1-Methylimidazol) wurden mit Hilfe des magnetischen Zirkulardichroismus (MCD), gekoppelt mit DFT-Rechnungen, untersucht. Ein reiner MCD C-Term wird im Fall des 5C Komplexes aufgrund der großen Übertragung von Spindichte vom NO auf das Eisen(II) beobachtet, was zu einer elektronischen Struktur mit merklichem Fe(I)-NO+-Charakter führt. Durch das Binden des sechsten Liganden wird Elektronendichte vom Eisen auf das NO zurückgeschoben, was zu einer Fe(II)-NO(Radikal) elektronischen Struktur führt (MCD A- und B-Terme werden beobachtet). UV-Vis- und 1H-NMR-Bindungsstudien von N-Donorliganden an 5C Komplexe zeigen, dass die Koordination des axialen Liganden zu einer Schwächung der Fe-NO Bindung führt, wodurch die Abspaltung des NO’s induziert wird. Die Kraftkonstanten der N−O- und Fe−NO-Bindungen sind im 5C Komplex größer als im 6C Komplex, was in Übereinstimmung mit einer Schwächung der Fe-NO Bindung im 6C Komplex ist. DFT Rechnungen zeigen, dass die Bildung von Fe(II)-NO Komplexen um ~7.5 kcal/mol im Vergleich zu entsprechenden Fe(III)-NO Komplexen favorisiert ist. Verschiedene Thiolat-koordinierte Fe(II)-NO Komplexe wurden in Lösung synthetisiert und mit Hilfe der EPR-Spektroskopie untersucht. Die erhaltenen g-Werte und die 14N-Hyperfeinaufspaltung zeigen, dass die Wechselwirkung der Thiolate mit der Fe(II)-NO Einheit schwach ist. Außerdem wurde die Wechselwirkung von NO mit [FeIII(TPP)(SPhF4)] bei tiefen Temperaturen mit Hilfe der UV-Vis Spektroskopie in-situ untersucht. Die oben beschriebenen Bindungsstudien von N-Donorliganden an 5C Eisen(II)-NO Komplexe haben gezeigt, dass die Synthese eines stabilen 6C Komplexes in Lösung in Abwesenheit von überschüssiger Base schwierig ist. Dieses Ziel wurde mit Hilfe eines kovalent an das Porphyrin gebundenen NDonorliganden realisiert. Die N-O Schwingungsfrequenz ν(NO) in den so erhaltenen Eisen(II)-NO Komplexen wurde mit Hilfe der FT-IR Spektroskopie bestimmt. Für den Liganden H2(T-oF2PP-BzIM) wurde eine Frequenz von 1644 cm-1 bestimmt, ein Wert der jedoch immer noch höher liegt als im Fall eines freien Imidazol-Liganden. Darüber hinaus wurde ein Häm/Nicht-Häm bis-NO-Komplex synthetisiert und als ein vollständiges Strukturmodell für das aktive Zentrum der NorBC charakterisiert.

Hydrodesulfurization (HDS) catalysts supported on SBA-15 (6 and 9 nm) were prepared by thermal decomposition of (alkyl)ammonium thiomolybdate and ammonium thiotungstate using Co(Ni) acetate or Co(Ni) thiocarbamate (cobalt dimethyldithiocarbamate and nickel diethyldithiocarbamate) as the promoter atom sources. Prior to the catalytic test, the activations of the catalysts were carried out either under H2/N2 gas flow at 773 K (ex-situ activation) or during the catalytic tests (in-situ activation). The nature of the thiosalt precursor, the impregnation method as well as the activation mode show a strong influence on the MoS2 morphology, which is of great importance for the HDS catalytic activity. Despite the high MoS2 stacking, the ex-situ activated catalysts derived from ammonium thiomolybdate (ATM) at high Mo-loading exhibit higher HDS activity compared to a commercial-Al2O3-supported HDS catalyst. One important result of the studies is that the MoS2 stacking is not a prerequisite for a good HDS performance and also not a sign for the deactivation or lower HDS activity. The presence of large amounts of coordinatively unsaturated sites (CUS) could be responsible for the high HDS activity. The experiments clearly show that the ex-situ activation is not beneficial for the preparation of HDS active phases when a carbon-containing Mo source like tetramethyl-ammonium thiomolybdate (TMATM) is employed. During the activation process MoS2 particles with an unfavorable morphology are generated and big needle-like aggregates and closed shell structures are seen in the HRTEM pictures. The in-situ activation is found to be beneficial for the preparation of NiMo/SBA-15 catalysts with high activity. For CoMo/SBA-15 catalysts, the in-situ activation also results in an enhanced synergetic effect of Co by using TMATM. In this case, the improved HDS performance could be associated with the positive carbon effect. In contrast, the nature of the thiosalt precursor and the activation mode have only a negligible influence on the catalytic selectivity. MoO3 supported on SBA-15 was prepared by impregnation of SBA-15 with ammonium heptamolybdate followed by calcination at 773 K for 3 h in air. Interestingly, the presence of the hexagonal MoO3 modification was unequivocally identified by evaluation of the EXAFS data. In addition, the catalytic behavior of the hex-MoO3/SBA-15 in the propene oxidation reaction was investigated in the temperature range from 293 K to 773 K. The stabilized hex-MoO3-SBA-15 is shown to be capable of directly oxidizing propene to acrylic acid without the addition of further metal atoms as promoters. Intriguingly, the stabilized structure of hexagonal MoO3 supported on SBA-15 possesses an open channel structure similar to that of the highly active Mo5O14 or MoVNbTe catalysts. Hence, structural complexity of molybdenum oxides is sufficient to improve functional molybdenum sites for the activation of oxygen and alkene followed by selective oxidation of the alkene.

Die vorliegende Arbeit befasst sich mit der spektroskopischen und quantenmechanischen Beschreibung der Stickstofffixierung an Molybdän(0)-Phosphinkomplexen. Im ersten Abschnitt erfolgt die quantenchemische Beschreibung des Chatt-Zyklus an zwei verschiedenen Modellsystemen. Dabei wurde die Thermodynamik der Einzelreaktionen berechnet und in Bezug zu den experimentellen Grundlagen aus der Literatur gesetzt. Es konnte gezeigt werden, dass im Reaktionszyklus die Bindung eines ionischen Liganden ein grundsätzliches Problem für die Reaktion von N2 zu NH3 unter milden Bedingungen darstellt. Der zweite Abschnitt beschreibt die Abhängigkeit der Aktivierung des Distickstoffliganden an Mo(0)-Komplexen in Bezug auf die Coliganden. Die Beschreibung der Aktivierung erfolgte dabei im Wesentlichen auf Basis der Schwingungsspektroskopie, sowie einer Normalkoordinatenanalyse und den daraus resultierenden Kraftkonstanten. Außerdem wurde die Bindung und Aktivierung des N2-Liganden mit Hilfe der elektronischen Struktur und der 15N-NMR-Spektroskopie beschrieben. Basierend auf diesen Ergebnissen der ersten beiden Abschnitte wurden neue gemischte Stickstoff-Phosphor-Liganden für die Stickstofffixierung dargestellt und charakterisiert. Die Synthese erfolgte mit Hilfe der phosphoranalogen Mannich-Reaktion ausgehend von den heterozyklischen Aminen 2-Aminopyridin, 2,6-Diaminopyridin und 2-Aminothiazol. Ausgehend vom neuen Liganden N,N-Bis(diphenylphosphinoethyl)aminopyridin (pyNP2) konnte ein Distickstoffkomplex dargestellt werden, der spektroskopisch und kristallographisch untersucht wurde. Die Protonierung des pyNP2-Komplexes führt zu einem Molybdän-NNH2-Komplex, der am Pyridinring sekundär protoniert ist. Im letzten Abschnitt der Arbeit wird die Reaktivität von niedervalenten Molybdän-Butadienkomplexen gegenüber Austauschreaktionen mit Phosphinliganden untersucht. Dabei konnte durch eine oxidative Substitutionsreaktion ein neuer gemischter Mo(I)-Butadien-Phosphinkomplex isoliert und umfangreich charakterisiert werden.
