BACKGROUND: Frozen shoulder (FS) is characterized by progressive shoulder pain and a limited range of motion. Recently, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection is a newly developed treatment option for patients with FS and its efficacy needs to be examined. OBJECTIVE: By conducting a systematic review and meta-analysis, this study attempted to evaluate the efficacy of PRP injection in the treatment of patients with FS. METHODS: PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, Elsevier, The Cochrane Library, WanFang Data and CNKI databases were searched up to May 31, 2020. This study included randomized controlled trials as well as prospective cohort studies. Two reviewers independently screened the title, abstract and full text in order to extract data from qualified studies. The main outcome was pain visual analogue score (VAS) while the secondary outcome was range of motion (ROM) of the shoulder joint that consists of four parts: internal rotation, flexion, external rotation and abduction. RESULTES: Three randomized controlled trials and one prospective cohort study met the inclusion criteria. Accordingly, a total of 359 cases were analyzed and followed up to 3 months. The control group included corticosteroids (CS), ultrasound therapy, and stellate ganglion block. Compared to other groups, VAS was statistically significant after 1 month and 3 months of treatment (SMD: -0.46, 95% CI: -0.75 to -0.18, P= 0.002; I=2 43.2%), (SMD: -0.87, 95% CI: -1.23 to -0.50, P= 0.00, I=2 61.9%). Compared to the control group, only flexion of the patients treated with PRP demonstrated no significant improvement at 1 month, whereas internal rotation, flexion, external rotation and abduction of the shoulder were found to be improved following 3 months of treatment. CONCLUSIONS: The corresponding findings illustrate that compared to other non-operative treatments, local injection of PRP can effectively improve pain and shoulder motion in patients with FS. However, due to the short follow-up time and limitations regarding the quantity and quality of studies, the above conclusions require further elucidation by performing additional high-quality studies.

Stock price volatility is influenced by many factors, including unstructured data that is not easy to quantify, such as investor sentiment. Therefore, given the difficulty of quantifying investor sentiment and the complexity of stock price, the paper proposes a novel LASSO-ATT-LSTM intelligent stock price prediction system based on multi-source data. Firstly, establish a sentiment dictionary in the financial field, conduct sentiment analysis on news information and comments according to the dictionary, calculate sentiment scores, and then obtain daily investor sentiment. Secondly, the LASSO (Least absolute shrinkage and selection operator) is used to reduce the dimension of basic trading indicators, valuation indicators, and technical indicators. The processed indicators and investor sentiment are used as the input of the prediction model. Finally, the LSTM (Long short-term memory) model that introduces the attention mechanism is used for intelligent prediction. The results show that the prediction of the proposed model is close to the real stock price, MAPE, RMSE, MAE and R2 are 0.0118, 0.0685, 0.0515 and 0.8460, respectively. Compared with the existing models, LASSO-ATT-LSTM has higher accuracy and is an effective method for stock price prediction.

To evaluate potential viral contamination on the surfaces of personal protective equipment (PPE) in COVID-19 wards.Face shields, gloves, the chest area of PPE and shoe soles were sampled at different time points. The samples were tested for the presence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) by PCR, and the cycle threshold (CT) values were recorded.The positive rate was 74.7% (239/320) for all PPE specimens. The CT values of the samples were ranked in the following order: face shieldschestsglovesshoe soles (37.08±1.38, 35.48±2.02, 34.17±1.91 and 33.52±3.16, respectively; P for trend.001). After disinfection, the CT values of shoe soles decreased compared with before disinfection (32.78±3.47 vs. 34.3±2.61, P = .037), whereas no significant effect of disinfection on the CT values of face shields, chests and gloves was observed. After disinfection, the CT values of specimens collected from shoe soles gradually increased; before disinfection, the CT values of shoe sole specimens were all less than 35.SARS-CoV-2 can attach to the surfaces of the PPE of healthcare professionals in COVID-19 wards, especially the shoe soles and undisinfected gloves. Shoe soles had the highest SARS-CoV-2 loads among all tested PPE items.

Previous studies have shown that the type I IGFR (IGF1R) suppresses apoptosis when it is autoactivated by coupling its extracellular domain to a matrix adhesion receptor complex consisting of syndecan-1 (Sdc1) and αvβ3 or αvβ5 integrin. We now report that head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) relies on this receptor complex. Disruption of the complex in HNSCC cells in vitro with a peptide mimetic of the organizer site in Sdc1 (called SSTNIGF1R) inactivates IGF1R, even in the presence of IGF1, and relieves the suppression of apoptosis signal-regulating kinase-1 (ASK1), dramatically reducing tumor cell survival. Normal epithelial cells do not assemble this receptor complex, require IGF1 to activate the IGF1R, and are refractory to SSTNIGF1R. In vivo, SSTNIGF1R reduced the growth of patient-derived HNSCC tumors in immunodeficient mice by 85%–95%. IGF1R's assimilation into the matrix receptor complex, which is detected in these tumors using the proximity ligation assay (PLA), is quantitatively disrupted by SSTNIGF1R, coinciding with ASK1 activation. PLA also detects the IGF1R-containing receptor complex in the archival sections of tonsil carcinomas, whereas the adjacent benign epithelium is negative. Likewise, PLA screening of oropharyngeal and adenoid cystic tumor microarrays demonstrated that over 95% of the tumors contained this unique receptor complex with no detectable expression in benign tissue. These findings suggest that HNSCC upregulates and is highly dependent on IGF1R signaling via this adhesion receptor complex. Targeting this mechanism with novel therapeutics, including highly specific SSTNIGF1R, is likely to offer promising outcomes for patients with carcinoma. Significance: A newly developed biomarker reveals upregulation of an antiapoptotic IGF1R-integrin-syndecan receptor complex in head and neck cancer and documents disruption of the complex in patient-derived tumor xenografts (PDX) treated with the inhibitor SSTNIGF1R. A corresponding blockade in PDX growth in the presence of this inhibitor demonstrates that therapies designed to target this mechanism will likely offer promising outcomes for patients with head and neck cancer.

Event extraction is an essential task in natural language processing. Although extensively studied, existing work shares issues in three aspects, including (1) the limitations of using original syntactic dependency structure, (2) insufficient consideration of the node level and type information in Graph Attention Network (GAT), and (3) insufficient joint exploitation of the node dependency type and part-of-speech (POS) encoding on the graph structure. To address these issues, we propose a novel framework for open event extraction in documents. Specifically, to obtain an enhanced dependency structure with powerful encoding ability, our model is capable of handling an enriched parallel structure with connected ellipsis nodes. Moreover, through a bidirectional dependency parsing graph, it considers the sequence of order structure and associates the ancestor and descendant nodes. Subsequently, we further exploit node information, such as the node level and type, to strengthen the aggregation of node features in our GAT. Finally, based on the coordination of triple-channel features (i.e., semantic, syntactic dependency and POS), the performance of event extraction is significantly improved. Extensive experiments are conducted to validate the effectiveness of our method, and the results confirm its superiority over the state-of-the-art baselines. Furthermore, in-depth analyses are provided to explore the essential factors determining the extraction performance.

This study analyzed the respective advantages and disadvantages by comparing volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) and intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) on the dose distribution and position verification distribution characteristics in esophageal cancer radiotherapy, in order to provide the reference for the clinical radiotherapy technology optimization of esophageal cancer.A total of 56 cases of patients with esophageal cancer were selected and applied to the Pinnacle three-dimensional radiation treatment planning system (TPS), in order to design a VMAT plan and IMRT plan under the guidance of image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT). The dosimetry and position verification difference were compared between the two groups.Revealed that the target dose distribution of the VMAT plan and IMRT plan meets the requirements in clinical dosimetry for all 56 patients in this study. Under the premise of similar target coverage, the conformal index (CI) of the VMAT plan, homogeneity index (HI), target volume, BODY-PTV radiated volume and spinal cord DCBCT guided VMAT is a potential effective treatment for esophageal cancer and may be more effective and safer than IMRT.

Humans with inactivating mutations in growth hormone receptor (GHR) have lower rates of cancer, including prostate cancer. Similarly, mice with inactivating Ghr mutations are protected from prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia in the C3(1)/TAg prostate cancer model. However, gaps in clinical relevance in those models persist. The current study addresses these gaps and the ongoing role of Ghr in prostate cancer using loss-of-function and gain-of-function models.Conditional Ghr inactivation was achieved in the C3(1)/TAg model by employing a tamoxifen-inducible Cre and a prostate-specific Cre. In parallel, a transgenic GH antagonist was also used. Pathology, proliferation, and gene expression of 6-month old mouse prostates were assessed. Analysis of The Cancer Genome Atlas data was conducted to identify GHR overexpression in a subset of human prostate cancers. Ghr overexpression was modeled in PTEN-P2 and TRAMP-C2 mouse prostate cancer cells using stable transfectants. The growth, proliferation, and gene expression effects of Ghr overexpression was assessed in vitro and in vivo.Loss-of-function for Ghr globally or in prostatic epithelial cells reduced proliferation and stratification of the prostatic epithelium in the C3(1)/TAg model. Genes and gene sets involved in the immune system and tumorigenesis, for example, were dysregulated upon global Ghr disruption. Analysis of The Cancer Genome Atlas revealed higher GHR expression in human prostate cancers with ERG-fusion genes or ETV1-fusion genes. Modeling the GHR overexpression observed in these human prostate cancers by overexpressing Ghr in mouse prostate cancer cells with mutant Pten or T-antigen driver genes increased proliferation of prostate cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. Ghr overexpression regulated the expression of multiple genes oppositely to Ghr loss-of-function models.Loss-of-function and gain-of-function Ghr models, including prostatic epithelial cell specific alterations in Ghr, altered proliferation, and gene expression. These data suggest that changes in GHR activity in human prostatic epithelial cells play a role in proliferation and gene regulation in prostate cancer, suggesting the potential for disrupting GH signaling, for example by the FDA approved GH antagonist pegvisomant, may be beneficial in treating prostate cancer.

We construct a Chinese Economic Event Treebank (CEETB) , focusing on revealing economic and finance events and their relations. Investigating economic event relations will benefit academic research and practice in not just economics but many other scientific areas. The characteristics of economic-related texts (e.g., abundant longer enterprises names and terms) and the Chinese language speciality (e.g., component ellipsis in long sentences) have resulted in challenges in the event relation extraction task. Existing Chinese corpora containing economic event relations mainly focused on finance areas (e.g., the equity market) and only covered a few event types. To support research that may involve economic text analysis in Chinese, our CEETB is constructed following a carefully designed process. First, based on practical and research requirements, we summarize nine different types of event relations and four types of component ellipses in economic texts. Then, an excellent annotation scheme is presented to hyalinize the model, strategy, and process in annotation, followed by statistical analysis and quality evaluation for the CEETB corpus. Finally, to demonstrate the strengths of the constructed corpus in practical applications, we conduct experiments on five SOTA models for event relation extraction.

The aim of this study was to explore the symptom experience and self-management strategies of adult hematopoietic stem cell transplantation patients during hospitalization.This was a qualitative descriptive study. A heterogeneous sample of 19 patients who underwent hematopoietic stem cell transplantation from May to October 2021 were enrolled in the study. Semi-structured interviews were conducted at four time points during hospitalization, providing a total of 64 interview datasets.Four themes and 11 subthemes reflecting the symptom experience and self-management strategies of adult hematopoietic stem cell transplantation patients during hospitalization were observed. The four themes were (1) unexpected symptom burden: dynamic, disturbing, co-occurring, and correlative; (2) emotional complexity at different periods; (3) internal predicament: ineffectiveness of symptom management; and (4) external strength: desire for support from multiple sources. Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation patients experienced a complex and dynamic array of symptoms from admission to discharge, and they experienced the dual forces of internal predicament and external strength in symptom self-management during hospitalization.The findings of this study emphasize the need for a deeper understanding and precise management of the symptom experience of adult hematopoietic stem cell transplantation patients during hospitalization. Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation nurses need to assess symptoms on an ongoing basis; educate patients on ways to perceive, express, and self-manage multiple symptoms; and develop patients' self-symptom management skills to enhance their symptom relief and quality of life.

Organophosphorus flame retardants (OPFRs) are widely used in various industrial manufacturing processes; thus, their environmental impact in agglomerated industrial areas is of great concern. In this study, seventeen kinds of OPFRs and five kinds of organophosphate diesters (Di-OPs) in water and upper sediment samples from two urban rivers in the agglomerated industrial area of Shenzhen city, China, were investigated. The results showed that the total concentrations of detectable OPFRs ranged from 3438.83 to 12,838.87 ng/L with an average of 6494.94 ng/L in water samples and from 47.16 to 524.46 ng/g (dry weight, dw) with an average of 181.48 ng/g dw in sediment. The values were higher than those in other rivers worldwide. Tris(2-chloroethyl) phosphate (TCEP) is the predominant OPFRs in water and upper sediment, up to 10,664.23 ng/L in water and 414.12 ng/g dw in sediment. The total concentration of OPFRs of sediment samples in the Maozhou River was around twice as high as in the Guanlan River. The results indicated that the level of OPFRs was associated with the industrial activity intensity. Di-OPs exhibited lower concentrations than their parent compounds, and can be attributed to the degradation/metabolism of their parent compounds in the river. Electrochemical nanotags with strong signal input are necessary for a ratiometric electrochemical sensor to overcome the drawbacks of inaccurate detection results. In this paper, the metal-organic framework (MOF) UiO-66 was utilized as an electrochemical signal tag. A stable and strong current response at +0.9 V can be detected in neutral conditions. MicroRNA (miRNA) was employed as the model analyte. Herein, an enzyme-free DNA-walker-based ultrasensitive ratiometric electrochemical biosensor in combination with Zr MOF (UiO-66) signal tags to detect miRNA was demonstrated. In the presence of miRNA, the autonomous walker movement can be initiated by miRNA, leading to the release of biotin-modified fragments. Thus, streptavidin-labeled UiO-66 nanomaterials were not bound to the electrode, generating a low signal response of UiO-66 at +0.9 V. However, the current signal of electrolyte solution as reference at +0.2 V was increased due to the enhancement of electrode conductivity. This ratiometic sensor demonstrated high sensitivity, selectivity, and reproducibility. It can eliminate the disturbance of environmental factors and basic electrode characteristics, providing more accurate signals. A limit of detection (LOD) of 0.17 fM was achieved. Moreover, the method was also used to detect miRNA-21 spiked in real serum samples.

Objective. This study was designed to explore the role and mechanism of eukaryotic initiation factor 3C (EIF3C) in the proliferation and apoptosis of lung cancer cells. Methods. EIF3C expression in clinic lung cancer tissues was detected by immunohistochemistry assay. Cell transfection with lentivirus EIF3C short hairpin RNA (shRNA) was performed with Lipofectamine 2000. Cell proliferation was evaluated by Celigo and MTT assays. Caspase-3/7 activity was assessed using caspase-3/7 assay kit for cell apoptosis detection. The apoptosis rate of lung cancer cells was assessed by flow cytometry. A transplanted tumor nude-mouse model was established to clarify the role of EIF3C in lung cancer. The potential mechanism of EIF3C was explored by mRNA microarray analysis. Among the top 30 up- and downregulated mRNAs selected for RT-qPCR, 5 were chosen for western blot analysis. Results. EIF3C was abnormally overexpressed in lung cancer cell lines and tissues. Silencing EIF3C suppressed the proliferation and promoted the apoptosis of lung cancer cells. In vivo experiments using transplanted tumor nude-mouse model suggested that EIF3C promoted lung cancer tumorigenesis. Further, mRNA microarray analyses identified 189 upregulated and 83 downregulated differentially expressed mRNA between the KD and negative control groups. After validation by RT-qPCR and western blot, three downstream genes (APP, HSPA1A, and LMNB1) were confirmed. Conclusion. EIF3C overexpression may facilitate the proliferation and hamper the apoptosis of lung cancer cells by regulating the APP/HSPA1A/LMNB1 axis.

Multi-sensor-based wearable human activity recognition (WHAR) is a research hotspot in the field of ubiquitous computing. Extracting effective features from multi-sensor data is essential to improve the performance of activity recognition. Despite the excellent achievements of previous works, the challenge remains for modelling the dynamic correlations between sensors. In this paper, we propose a lightweight yet efficient GCN-based dynamic inter-sensor correlations learning framework called DynamicWHAR for automatically learning the dynamic correlations between sensors. DynamicWHAR is mainly composed of two modules: Initial Feature Extraction and Dynamic Information Interaction. Firstly, Initial Feature Extraction module performs data-to-feature transformation to extract the initial features of each sensor. Subsequently, Dynamic Information Interaction module explicitly models the specific interaction intensity between any two sensors, and performs dynamic information aggregation between sensors by the learned interaction intensity. Extensive experiments on four diverse WHAR datasets and two different resource-constrained devices validate that DynamicWHAR outperforms the SOTA models in both recognition performance and computational complexity.

Introduction. Neuropathic pain is a commonly seen symptom and one of the most intractable comorbidities following spinal cord injury (SCI). Acupuncture has been widely used for neuropathic pain after SCI in clinical settings. There is no systematic review or meta‐analysis evaluating the efficacy of acupuncture in the treatment of SCI-induced neuropathic pain. Thus, this study aimed to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the efficacy of acupuncture on SCI-induced neuropathic pain. Methods. Seven databases were comprehensively searched, including PubMed, the Cochrane Library, the Web of Science, the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), the Chinese Biomedical Literature Service System (SinoMed), the Wanfang Database, and the Chinese Scientific Journals Database (VIP) from their inception to 30 September 2021. Two independent reviewers evaluated the eligibility of the data retrieved based on the pre-established eligibility criteria and assessed the methodological quality of the included studies using the Cochrane Risk of Bias Tool. The outcome indexes in this study included the visual analogue scale, the numeric rating scale, the present pain intensity, and the pain region index. Sensitivity and subgroup analyses were also performed to specifically evaluate the intervention effects. In addition, publication bias was analyzed. Results. Six randomized controlled trials (145 participants in the experimental groups and 141 participants in the control groups) were identified that evaluated the application of acupuncture for neuropathic pain after SCI and were included in this study. The results of our study revealed that acupuncture had a positive effect on the pain severity (standardized mean difference (SMD): −1.40, 95% confidence interval (CI): −2.23; −0.57), the present pain intensity (MD = −0.61, 95% CIs = −0.98; −0.23), and the pain region index (MD = −3.04, 95% CI = −3.98; −2.11). In addition, sensitivity analyses showed that these results were robust and stable. Subgroup analyses indicated that electroacupuncture (EA) had better effects on SCI-induced neuropathic pain. However, a publication bias was observed. Conclusion. Available evidence appears to suggest that acupuncture may have a role in SCI-induced neuropathic pain management, but this remains to be determined.

The rapid, sensitive, and selective detection of ascorbic acid (AA) is of significance in medical assays and diagnostics. In this work, a new aminoperylenediimide (APDI) derived ratiometric fluorescent probe based on the specific redox reaction of cobalt oxyhydroxide (CoOOH) and AA was constructed. APDI exhibited dual fluorescence emission peaks at 549 and 596 nm with an excitation wavelength of 494 nm. In the presence of CoOOH, the dual fluorescence could be quenched. Context is the environment that forms discourse and is one of the key factors influencing discourse comprehension. Language communication is not conducted in a vacuum but a specific language environment. Context plays a vital role in discourse analysis. This paper investigated the development and categories of context and analyzed the disadvantage of the traditional way of discourse analysis without considering the context. Based on Hu's classification of context, this paper analyzed many discourse examples from textbooks, grammar books, and articles, and concluded the functions of each type of context in discourse analysis. Linguistic context can eliminate ambiguities, indicate the reference of endophora, predict ensuing content, help guess word meaning, and supplement omitted information in discourse analysis. Situational context plays the role of understanding illogical sentences, supplementing omitted information and filling the semantic vacancy, and understanding illocutionary force and reflecting speech acts in discourse analysis. The cultural context has the functions of explaining cultural connotations, filling the semantic vacancy, and building consistency of discourse in discourse analysis. Finally, enlightenment of functions of context in discourse analysis to language teaching and learning is provided.

Objective. To observe the protective effect of gynostemma glycosides on retinal ganglion cells in rats with chronically high intraocular pressure. Materials and Methods. A total of 60 rats were randomly divided into group A (the blank group, 10 rats) and chronic high IOP model group (50 rats). The IOP model group (IOP above 22 mmHg) was then randomly divided into an additional 5 groups (10 rats per group): group B (negative control group) treated with normal saline; group C treated with gynostemma glycosides 25 mg/(kg-d); group D treated with gynostemma glycosides 50 mg/(kg-d); group E treated with gynostemma glycosides 100 mg/(kg-d); and group F (positive control group) treated with VitB1 and VitB12. The eyes of each rat were monitored from day 1 to 14 (D1–D14). On day 14, rats were euthanized, after which retinal tissue and optic nerve were examined using real-time PCR, western blot, HE staining, LFB staining, and TUNEL assay. Results. Groups A, C, D, E, and F had significantly lower expression of CD11b, GFAP, Brn3α, and more TUNEL cells than in group B (all P < 0.05 ). Moreover, the relative expression of STAT3 mRNA and JAK2 (mRNA and protein) in groups A, C, D, E, and F was significantly lower than in group B ( P < 0.05 ), while in group E, the expression was lower than in group D ( P < 0.05 ). Conclusion. Gynostemma glycosides protect retinal ganglion cells in rats with chronically high intraocular pressure possibly associated with the STAT3/JAK2 signaling pathway.

Lanthanide-doped upconversion nanoparticles (Ln-UCNPs) are a new type of nanomaterials with excellent fluorescence properties, which are well applied in fluorescent biosensing. Herein we developed a multifunctional probe based on the surface engineering of core-shell structure UCNPs with polyacrylic acid (PAA). The developed PAA/UCNPs probe could be highly selective to detect and respond to Cu2+ at different pH. Cu2+ could easily combine with the carboxylate anion of PAA to quench the fluorescence of UCNPs. Therefore, we creatively proposed a fluorescent array sensor (PAA/UCNPs-Cu2+), in which the same material acted as the sensing element by coupled with pH regulation for pattern recognition of 5 thiols. It could also easily identify the chiral enantiomer of cystine (L-Cys and D-Cys), and distinguish their mixed samples with different concentrations, and more importantly, it could be combined with urine samples to detect actual level of homocysteine (Hcys) to provide a new solution for judging whether the human body suffers from homocystinuria.

Salivary gland intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (SG IPMN) is a recently proposed entity characterized by a papillary-cystic proliferation of mucin-producing cells. Because of overlapping histologic features and a clonal AKT1 p.E17K variant, SG IPMN has been presumed to be a precursor or a low-grade subtype of mucinous adenocarcinoma. NKX3.1 is a tumor suppressor gene located on chromosome 8p and is a known immunohistochemical marker of prostate epithelium and mucinous acinar cells of the intraoral salivary glands.We retrieved 12 SG IPMN cases, and performed histologic and genetic analysis. Given the association of SG IPMN with mucinous acinar cells, we also investigated the performance of NKX3.1 as a marker of this tumor entity.Diffuse and strong NKX3.1 expression was observed in all SG IPMN cases (12/12, 100%) as well as in normal mucinous acinar cells. In contrast, mucoepidermoid carcinoma and pancreatic IPMN cases as well as normal serous acinar cells were negative for NKX3.1. Genetically, 11 of 12 cases (92%) harbored an AKT1 p.E17K variant. A novel PTEN frameshift deletion (p.G36Dfs*18) was detected in the other single case. At least one of the histologic features implying malignant tumors, such as severe cellular atypia, brisk mitotic activity, high Ki-67 proliferating index, lymphovascular invasion, and lymph node metastasis, was detected in 6 SG IPMN cases (50%).The findings suggest that SG IPMN is a low-grade subtype of mucinous adenocarcinoma which may be derived from mucinous acinar cells of the minor salivary gland.

Among the factors affecting rock mass failure, the stress state has the greatest influence on the mechanical behavior of rock. The mechanical behavior of rock depends on the change of stress path, and the stress of rock mass is closely related to deformation and failure. In order to study the influence of surrounding rock stress state on the failure mode of surrounding rock, based on the theory of elastic mechanics and fracture mechanics, this paper analyzed the stress state of surrounding rock element and crack propagation of surrounding rock, and estimated the potential failure mode of surrounding rock in different areas of a phosphate mine in Yichang. The results showed that: the surrounding rock element is affected by the gradient stress, and a larger stress gradient corresponds to a larger principal stress ratio and variation direction of the surrounding rock. The failure mode of surrounding rock is affected by the coupling effect of principal stress ratio and principal stress direction. Under the action of certain crack angle and appropriate confining pressure, different fracture mechanisms may occur in the surrounding rock compression. But the partition of surrounding rock failure mode region can predict the surrounding rock failure mode to a certain extent.

The prevalence and incidence of atrial fibrillation (AF) significantly increase with age. Catheter ablation is already recommended in the guidelines for this selected elderly population. This study aimed to explore the safety and effectiveness of AF catheter ablation in patients aged ≥80 years.The data were based on the China-AF study. Patients with AF aged ≥80 years who received catheter ablation from August 2011 to December 2020 were selected. Catheter ablation included bilateral circumferential pulmonary vein antrum isolation with or without additional linear ablation. Patients were followed up every 6 months. Arrhythmia-free curves were generated using Kaplan-Meier analysis. Cox proportional hazards regression models were used to analyse the predictors for post-ablation recurrence.A total of 270 patients were included in the study. Many patients had comorbidities: 73.7% had hypertension and 29.3% had diabetes mellitus. All patients achieved successful bilateral circumferential pulmonary vein antrum isolation. Total complications were noted in nine of 270 (3.3%) patients and nine of 286 (3.1%) ablation procedures. After the first ablation procedure, 74% of the whole cohort-78% patients with paroxysmal AF, and 66% patients with persistent AF - were free from atrial tachyarrhythmia at follow-up to 12 months. Patients with persistent AF, longer AF duration, and history of ischaemic stroke were more likely to have AF recurrence.Patients with AF aged ≥80 years, although with many comorbidities, had low complication rates and favourable outcomes after catheter ablation. Catheter ablation was a safe and effective treatment to achieve sinus rhythm in the selected elderly patients.

In the network economy domain, urban competitiveness refers to the comparison between cities in terms of competition and development. It is the ability to gain competitive advantage under different factors. The evaluation of urban competitiveness will help cities to learn from each other, and provides reference for the government to enhance urban competitiveness. Unlike various studies in the literature exploiting only the non-linear characteristics of urban competitiveness, this paper selects BP (Back Propagation) network as the main framework for evaluation. A Genetic Algorithm BP (GABP) network based on genetic optimization is utilized. The weights are optimized besides the crossover mutation of GA algorithm. To compensate the slow prediction in the stand-alone mode, this work proposes a MapReduce (MP) based method; MR-GABP via cloud computing. The model ensures effective urban competitiveness evaluation with improved convergence speed and threshold generation speed. The systematic experiments conducted verify effectiveness of the method while the results obtained reveal that performance of the method is better than the other methods in terms of accuracy and recall yielded as 95.1% and 92.6% respectively.

Deep-sea oxygen concentrations reflect combined effects of air-sea exchange in high-latitude surface waters, ventilation through ocean circulation and the organic carbon remineralization at depth. Reconstruction of past bottom water oxygen (BWO) concentrations has been challenging due to limitations of each existing BWO proxy whose fidelity may be complicated by diagenetic or depositional factors. Therefore, evaluations on BWO changes with multiple-proxy approach are always preferred. In this study, we exploit the authigenic uranium content on mixed planktonic foraminiferal coatings as a BWO proxy by presenting new foraminiferal U/Ca and U/Mn ratios of the Holocene and last glacial maximum (LGM) sediments from 54 sites throughout the Pacific Ocean, covering a range of modern BWO from 8-210 μmol/kg. As expected, foraminiferal U/Ca and U/Mn are influenced by sedimentation rates and organic carbon fluxes. Nevertheless, we also observe a negative correlation of Holocene U/Ca and U/Mn with BWO, with decreasing sensitivities towards higher BWO, suggesting the control of BWO on foraminiferal U/Ca and U/Mn variations. Based on the comparison of our foraminiferal U/Ca and U/Mn ratios between the Holocene and LGM and existing redox proxy data, we provide new constraints on Equatorial and South Pacific oxygenation changes during the LGM. First, the boundary between better oxygenated upper ocean and less oxygenated deeper ocean in the Eastern Equatorial Pacific was limited to a narrower water depth range between ~0.6 and 0.7 km. Second, our data imply better oxygenation in the upper and bottom waters of the Pacific Ocean and mid-depth deoxygenation, which contrasts with findings in the deep Atlantic and Indian Oceans. After excluding influences from other factors such as sedimentation rates and productivity, our study demonstrates foraminiferal U/Ca and U/Mn provide a useful proxy for BWO reconstruction in the Pacific, thus helping to constrain the glacial-interglacial oceanic carbon cycle.
