To assess the frailty level among ESRD patients maintaining hemodialysis. By using“ EDMONTONFRAIL SCALE”. STUDY DESIGN: The participant will be included in the study based on their Inclusion and exclusion criteria after obtaining informed consent. The study is an analysis of the Cognition, General health status, Functional independence, Social support, Medication use, Nutrition, Mood, Continence, Functional performance. PLACE AND DURATION OF THE STUDY: The study was conducted at Department Of Nephrology .Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (DU). Period of the study: 3months. METHODOLOGY: A Patient who are all undergoing hemodialysis increases the frailty level. It helps to find the frailty related to hemodialysis patients. It helps to assess early railty in physical and mental l status. The participant will be included in the study based on their Inclusion and exclusion criteria after obtaining informed consent. Concrete is the most commonly used material in the field of construction. The main complication of using concrete is that it loses its flexibility nature when it is hardened. To overcome this difficulty, a new type of construction material is introduced called the concrete canvas. Concrete Canvas is faster, easier and cost effective to install and has the benefit of reducing the environmental impact of concreting works by up to 95%. This study focuses on the uses and the applications of concrete canvas and the practicality of manufacturing concrete canvas in India.

Utilization of the waste products in the agricultural industry has been the focus of Research for economic, environmental, and technical reasons. Sugarcane Bagasse Ash (SCBA) is one of the promising material, with its potential proved to be used as a partial replacement of cement as well as mineral admixtures for producing concrete; properties of such concrete depend on the chemical composition, fineness, specific surface area of SCBA. An experimental investigation will be carried out to examine the impact of replacing cement by bagasse ash to the mechanical and physical properties of pastes and mortars, fresh and harden concrete such as consistency, setting time and workability, compressive strength. Sugarcane Bagasse Ash powder used by replacing fly ash at 40%, 50%, and 60%. Compressive strength and water absorption test will be carried out for evaluating the performance of the material.

Multiple primary malignancies in a cancer patient are not a rare occurrence. The most common presentation of multiple primary malignancies is dual malignancies. The usefulness of different positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) tracers in the evaluation of dual synchronous primary malignancies is not well documented. Here, we present a case series, where two patients, referred for PET/CT, after being diagnosed with one primary malignancy were found to be having a second primary malignancy, diagnosed incidentally in PET/CT, further validated by PET/CT with another tracer.

The present work accentuates the aspects of electrochemical analysis determined by Cyclic Voltammeter(CV), especially enhancement in Supercapacitor's specific capacitance and energy density. In this work, Nickel Oxide (NiO) and Nickel Oxide @ reduced Graphene Oxide (NiO@rGO) nanocomposite materials using as electrodes synthesized by the Microwave irradiation method. Performance of the synthesized material further characterized using X-Ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Field-Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FE-SEM), BET(Brunauer–Emmett–Teller) specific surface-area, Thermo Gravimetric Analysis (TGA), and CV. Electrochemical performance of active material at three different molarities (2M, 4M & 6M) of potassium hydroxide (KOH) as an electrolyte is analyzed and observed decline in specific capacitance for synthesized nanocomposite materials in a lower state of electrolyte concentration. Accordingly, Specific capacitances at 1A/g are 270F/g, 395 F/g at 1A/g current density, and Energy densities of 10.2Wh/Kg, 17.55Wh/Kg are observed for NiO and NiO@rGO respectively at 6M KOH.

Visualising the result of any proposed treatment, not only guides us in each part of the journey towardthe final result but also to assess if the treatment objectives are met. Any adverse effects can be easilydetermined, before the start of the treatment, and necessary alterations to the treatment plan can be made.Various methods in which the result of an orthognathic surgery can be visualised are – overlay tracing,template tracing, cephalometric prediction tracing, computer prediction, feasibility mock surgery, etc. Howto carry out these predictions are discussed in detail in this article.

Background: Therapeutic hypothermia (TH) may improve neurological outcome in comatose patients following out of hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA). The reliability of clinical prediction of neurological outcome following TH remains unclear. In particular, there is very limited data on survival and predictors of neurological outcome following TH for OHCA from resource-constrained settings in general and South Asia in specific. Objective: The objective was to identify factors predicting unfavorable neurological outcome at hospital discharge in comatose survivors of OHCA treated with hypothermia. Design: Retrospective chart review. Setting: Urban 200-bed hospital in Chennai, India. Methods: Predictors of unfavorable neurological outcome (cerebral performance category score [3–5]) at hospital discharge were evaluated among patients admitted between January 2006 and December 2012 following OHCA treated with TH. Hypothermia was induced with cold intravenous saline bolus, ice packs and cold-water spray with bedside fan. Predictors of unfavorable neurological outcome were examined through multivariate exact logistic regression analysis. Results: A total of 121 patients were included with 106/121 (87%) experiencing the unfavorable neurological outcome. Corrosive poisoning, typically with household chemicals, is a common problem in children and adults. As ingestion by adults is often intentional, they are usually associated with larger volumes of strong agents and have the potential to create more severe injury than that observed in the accidental ingestions commonly seen in children. The goal of acute care in these cases is to stabilize acute compromise of haemodynamics and to ensure patency of the injured airway. Blind placement of nasogastric tubes and attempts at dilution or neutralization of the ingested chemical are potentially hazardous and should be avoided. Early identification of oesophageal or gastric perforation by clinical evaluation and radiological testing will lead to early and appropriate surgical interventions for these complications. The primary focus after initial stabilization is to evaluate the extent of gastrointestinal injury by early endoscopy. The application of a standardized score to grade the injury allows risk stratification, the planning of nutritional support and referral for appropriate management of the chronic sequelae of scarring and stenosis of the injured gastrointestinal tract. No specific medical therapy can attenuate the extent of damage acutely nor alter the progression of chronic changes.

Generalized status myoclonus following out of hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) has been associated with poor prognosis1. Many patients die and majority of those who survive remain in a vegetative state2. There is paucity of data on the clinical characteristics and outcome of patients with status myoclonus treated with hypothermia from resource-limited centres in South Asia.

Sudden and staged reperfusion after experimental coronary artery occlusion was studied in relation to recovery of cardiac function and postreperfusion arrhythmias. Eighteen closed chest dogs with 3 hour intracoronary balloon occlusion of the proximal left anterior descending coronary artery were studied using two-dimensional echocardiography over a period of 3 weeks after reperfusion. Nine dogs had sudden reperfusion by abrupt balloon deflation. In nine other dogs reperfusion was staged with partial reflow (20 ml/min) for 2 hours through the central lumen of the catheter during persisting intracoronary balloon inflation, followed by balloon deflation and full reperfusion.Within the first 30 minutes of sudden reperfusion, ischemic zone end-diastolic wall thickness increased significantly, from 6.8 ± 0.3 mm at 3 hours of occlusion to 10.2 ± 2.6 mm (p < 0.05). In contrast, at 30 minutes of partial reflow, wall thickness was 7.5 ± 0.7 versus 6.8 ± 0.7 mm at 3 hours of occlusion (NS). A small temporary increase in end-diastolic wall thickness was noted when full reflow was established after 2 hours of staged reperfusion. However, wall thickness was normal on the first day in the staged reperfusion series, while sudden reperfusion delayed recovery to 7 days. Function of the ischemic zone failed to improve substantially until day 3 after sudden reperfusion, whereas it improved consistently starting as early as 30 minutes after institution of the staged reperfusion. After day 3, ischemic zone systolic function was significantly improved in both groups, though a small difference in function between the groups with sudden and gradual reperfusion was apparent on day 7 (19.0 ± 8.8 versus 29.0 ± 4.3%, 0.05 > p > 0.1). Sudden reperfusion caused a much higher frequency of premature ventricular complexes than was the case with staged reperfusion (3 hours postreperfusion, 227 ± 167 versus 14 ± 23 premature complexes per 5 minutes, p < 0.01).Thus, compared with sudden reperfusion, staged reperfusion accelerated improvement in cardiac function and reduced arrhythmias in the early reperfusion period.

The effect of intravenous nifedipine (5 micrograms/kg) on the recovery of myocardial function after occlusion of the left anterior descending coronary artery was studied in 18 closed chest dogs. Using computer-aided analysis of two-dimensional echocardiograms, systolic and diastolic function of ischemic segments in low papillary left ventricular cross sections were characterized, respectively, as holosystolic fractional area change and early diastolic velocity of luminal area change. The time required for systolic function to return to preocclusion values after a 1 minute untreated control occlusion (n = 12) was 5 to 10 minutes, and after a 2 minute occlusion (n = 6) it was 20 to 30 minutes. When nifedipine was administered during the occlusion, recovery after a 2 minute occlusion was accelerated slightly to 10 to 15 minutes. Recovery times of early diastolic function were substantially longer, and nifedipine effects were more pronounced. After a 1 or 2 minute control coronary occlusion, 60 to 75 minutes or 90 to 105 minutes were needed to return early diastolic function to normal levels. Nifedipine administered during a 1 or 2 minute coronary occlusion improved these recovery times to 10 to 15 minutes. When the dogs were treated with intravenous nifedipine before coronary occlusion, recovery after 1 or 2 minutes of acute ischemia was apparent as early as 2 minutes after reperfusion. Thus, intravenous nifedipine accelerates the recovery of myocardial function after brief periods of ischemia, and when administered before coronary occlusion, it assures very prompt recovery of function.
