Abstract

PurposeIn order to understand the status of the bridge reinforcement process, the construction process monitoring of the reinforced bridge is carried out. The T-beam bridge was tested using the truck loading test. The displacements and concrete strains of the bridge at mid-span were measured during the test.Design/methodology/approachThis paper describes an innovative technique, external prestressing, used to strengthen a 36-year-old prestressed T-beam bridge. This paper introduces the construction process of the prestressed reinforcement method, and makes a theoretical analysis of the reinforced bridge through the establishment of the reinforcement model.FindingsThis study showed that the structural capacity and performance of the bridge were enhanced with externally prestressed steel strand strengthening.Originality/valueThe innovative reinforcement method of prestressed T-shaped bridge is put forward, which has guiding significance for similar bridge reinforcement and maintenance.

Abstract

Cylindrical microlens arrays (CMLAs) play a key role in many optoelectronic devices, and 100% fill-factor CMLAs also have the advantage of improving the signal-to-noise ratio and avoiding stray-light effects. However, the existing preparation technologies are complicated and costly, which are not suitable for mass production. Herein, we propose a simple, efficient, and low-cost manufacturing method for CMLAs with a high fill-factor via the electric-field-driven (EFD) microscale 3D printing of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS). By adjusting the printing parameters, the profile and the fill-factor of the CMLAs can be controlled to improve their optical performance. The optical performance test results show that the printed PDMS CMLAs have good image-projecting and light-diffraction properties. Using the two printing modes of this EFD microscale 3D-printing technology, a cylindrical dual-microlens array with a double-focusing function is simply prepared. At the same time, we print a series of specially shaped microlenses, proving the flexible manufacturing capabilities of this technology. The results show that the prepared CMLAs have good morphology and optical properties. The proposed method may provide a viable route for manufacturing large-area CMLAs with 100% fill-factor in a very simple, efficient, and low-cost manner.

Abstract

Emissions Trading Systems (ETSs) as cost-effective methods to facilitate emission abatement are raising more concerns. This paper implements different scenario analysis and simulates the establishing of a conceivable global emission trading system with China, USA, Europe, Australia, Japan and South Korea included using the computable general equilibrium model——CGEM. To investigate the interaction between China and global emission trading system, we analyse the impact on industrial structure, energy structure and international trade of China and clarify the role of China in context of global emission trading system.

Abstract

Gas–liquid flow in serpentine micro channel with different surface properties exhibits drastically different flow behavior. With water and air as working fluids, the method of numerical simulation analysis is based on CLSVOF (coupled level set and volume of fluid method) multiphase model. After verifying the reasonability of the model through experiment, by changing wall properties and Re number, influences of contact angle and surface roughness on flow regime and Po number were discussed. Meanwhile, we compared gas–liquid two-phase flow pattern in serpentine microchannel with a combination of different number of hydrophobic and hydrophilic wall surfaces under several typical flow conditions, and in-depth analyzed the influence of curved channel on gas liquid phase distribution and interfacial fluctuation. Beyond that, the combined effect of curve channel and wall properties on flow resistance was analyzed. This paper finds that wall properties have great influence on gas–liquid flow in micro channels not only on flow regime but also flow characteristics. It is more beneficial for fluid flowing when the straight part of micro channel is hydrophilic smooth wall, and curve part is hydrophobic wall with larger roughness.

Abstract

This paper analyzed the process of the LCD and the industrial structure in the typical countries to reveal the Causality Relationship between LCD and Industrial Structure. First, most of the developed countries industry have experienced the high-carbon period. When the economy evolved to a certain extent, the base level of the LCD increased. And In developing countries, especially in China, the tertiary industry shared a much smaller part in the whole economy system comparing with that of the developed countries. Then, Based on the output of regression analysis, the appreciable correlation between the LCD and the industrial structure was found. Finally, the results of Granger causality tests lead to the conclusion that the tertiary industry of China is the Granger cause of the LCD within 98 percent confidence intervals. It suggests that the industry structure should be adjusted before the LCD, especially the development of tertiary industry.

6. Study of the secondary metabolites of black Aspergilli from Canadian vineyards

Abstract

Ochratoxin A (OTA) and fumonisin are mycotoxins produced by black Aspergilli that contaminate wine in many countries around the world. Both OTA and fumonisins are possible carcinogens to humans. There is limited data about the occurrence of OTA and fumonisins in Canadian vineyards. Therefore, a survey of the black Aspergilli from 2012-2014 has been conducted. In the mycotoxin study, high performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry was used to screen and quantify OTA and fumonisins from both black Aspergilli isolated on artificial media and grape samples. OTA was only detected from one fungal isolate and not on any grapes. Fumonisin B2, B4, and B6 were detected from both isolates and grapes, but in very low concentrations. Therefore, the risk of wine grapes contamination with OTA and fumonisins is low. In the metabolomics study, the principal component analysis and the Kruskal-Wallis test was carried out on the metabolomics data obtained from the black Aspergillus extracts. Thirty-three potential metabolite markers were found to discriminate black Aspergillus species isolated from Canadian vineyards.
