The nanostructure cadmium doped cobalt oxide nanoparticles were prepared by microwave irradiation techniques. The prepared nanoparticles were further characterized using Powder X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and UV-Vis spectroscopy. The Powder X ray diffraction results shows good crystalline nature. The Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy conforms stretching and bending vibration of metal oxygen groups. UV-Vis spectroscopy results show absorption edges are 204 nm, 220nm prepared nanoparticles additionally optical parameter skin depth, extinction co-efficient, reflectance, refractive index is calculated.

The cadmium doped aluminium oxide (CdAl2O3) nanoparticles were prepared by reverse precipitation method. The prepared CdAl2O3 nanoparticles were characterized by Powder X-Ray Diffraction in order to confirm the crystalline nature of the sample and found average crystallite size in the range 27.6 nm. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy confirms the presence of metal oxygen bonds in the CdAl2O3 nanoparticle.

Pneumonia is one of the largest killers of children under five years of age around the world. The present study was done to study the clinical features, outcome, bacteriological profile and radiological features of pneumonia in children. This was a descriptive study of pneumonia conducted on 100 children in the age group of 1 month to 12 years, with clinical features of tachypnoea as per WHO criteria and chest indrawing, who got admitted in pediatric wards of Rajah Muthiah Medical college, Annamalai University, Chidambaram during November 2014 to August 2016.Study showed that 82% of the children belonged to the age group of 1-month - 5year, male to female ratio was 1.17:1. Rapid breathing/ respiratory distress (100%), cough (100%) and fever (99%) were the most common symptoms. Refusal of feeds was present in 24% cases. Tachypnoea (100%), chest retractions (100%) and crepitations (82%) were the most common signs. Diarrhoea (7%), meningitis(3%) ,CCF(1%)were the associated illness. 71% were breast-fed and 29% were given bottle feeds. 55% were anemic. 62% had grade 1 and 2, 30% had grade 3 and 4 PEM. From the study, it was concluded that pneumonia is one of the major causes of morbidity and mortality in children. Blood culture will not give much information regarding etiology of pneumonia. Chest X-ray is valuable aid in the diagnosis of pneumonia in children.

An anomaly east of Great Slave Lake in Northern Canada was selected to test the applicability of linear filtering to aeromagnetic data. Since the anomaly is linear, we have considered two parallel but widely separated profiles across the anomaly. The aeromagnetic anomaly observed along these profiles was filtered using Strakhov’s filter operator. The filtered signal was matched with the computed field of a dike model with an average susceptibility in the range 1.7 to [Formula: see text] CGS Units. Furthermore, from the suppressed noise component, an estimate of the variance of the random magnetization has been made. The estimated variance is in the range 0.61 to [Formula: see text] cgs units. Although there is no available geological information about the value of these parameters, the calculated values seem to be reasonable.

Covariance and spectral density functions of all three components of random potential fields are mutually related. The spectra of any one component on two different levels are related through an exponential function of the separation of the levels. If, starting from the earth’s surface, we continue the observed random field downward, we find that at a certain level the field becomes unstable. Such a limiting depth can be estimated from the spectrum of the observed field. The spectrum of the random field is related to the spectrum of random density or intensity of magnetization. The random sources are assumed to be confined to a thin sheet or a thick, infinite sheet, or to a semi‐infinite medium. In all these cases, a relation connecting the spectrum of the random density or the intensity of magnetization and the spectrum of the random field has been established.

Following a study of the statistical properties of a random potential field, which is often encountered as a background noise in observed geophysical potential fields, and particularly a study of conditions under which the random process is homogeneous and gaussian, an approximate analytical method has been developed to evaluate the correlation functions and the power spectrum of the random process when the mass density is locally uniform but varies randomly over an entire semi‐infinite space. The method is particularly convenient for it gives a unified approach to evaluating the statistical properties of gravity as well as magnetic fields. The relationship between the autocorrelation function of the random potential field and the random mass density is quite involved, but by assuming that the mass density in successive cells is completely uncorrelated the relationship can be simplified. It is a matter of considerable interest to estimate, from the autocorrelation function, the size of cell characteristic of the random medium which reflects the geological characteristics of the rocks.
