The purpose of this study was to highlight the problem of low groundwater levels and water shortage by analyzing how Sweden's management and adaptability capabilities work in comparison with risk management strategies. The collected result was analyzed against the so-called 4-E Strategies (Enforcement, Engineering, Education, and Economic) as the main framework. In addition, the study aimed at investigating how the ability can be created through these strategies and which of these the municipalities consider to be most effective. The data collection took place through individual semi-structured interviews with representatives from 5 municipalities. The answers from the interviews were then analyzed with qualitative content analysis, where responses generated from the qualitative content analysis were set against the 4-E strategies. The result shows that the interviewees believe that all prevention strategies may be useful depending on the context and when it is used. In addition, they must also be adapted to the local conditions in the current geographic area. The result also shows that all 4-E strategies are needed to create efficient handling and adaptability for drinking water management. The study's results show that the Swedish municipalities' management and adaptability to these strategies is satisfactory. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanner is one of the most important tools in clinical diagnostics. MRI scanners are associated by strong vibration which results in unpleasant and disturbing acoustic noise. The primary source of this vibration is the Lorentz force produced by fast switching of the currents inside the gradient coils of MRI scanners under a strong static magnetic field. During an MR-imaging scan the switching is controlled in order to spatially code the hydrogen nuclei that will generate the signal, which is reconstructed into anatomical images. Faster switching of the currents allows for shorter scan times and/or higher image resolutions. Consequently, the clinical quality has motivated the drive for shorter switching time and higher currents. This development, however, has also caused an undesired increase of MRI vibrations. The overall vibration phenomenon of an installed fully functional MRI scanner system becomes unique because of the installed location and ambiance. This vibration can potentially degrade the image quality and hence the diagnosis. Apart from the vibration produced, the associated annoying acoustic noise may not only affect the patients under examination and the clinical staff, but may also be transmitted to other parts of the building and causing discomfort for the personnel working there. In order to devise an effective isolation plan or improve an existing one both for vibration and acoustic noise it is important to study the noise and vibration transfer paths. This paper concerns an investigation of vibration transfer paths for vibration excited by an installed functional MRI scanner at a medical facility. The vibration transfer paths have been investigated experimentally. The obtained results are presented and discussed.

Barn boende i familjehem är en utsatt grupp som får stöd från samhället. En kvalitativ studie genomfördes där fyra barn boende i familjehem samt en familjehemssekreterare intervjuades. Deltagarna fick fyra öppna frågor, svaren redovisas i resultat delen där barnen uttryckte sina behov. Syftet är att studera vilka behov av stöd barnen själva själva lyfter fram och om det skiljer sig från det socialtjänsten erbjuder barn boende i familjehemmen. Genom meningskoncentrering tolkades barnens svar till trygghet och tillhörighet i familjehemmet. Stödet som socialtjänsten ger barnen uppfyller också ett behov, enligt barnen, men trygghet och omtanke i familjen var det som värderades högst av barnen som deltog i studien.

It is a great challenge to develop a computer game. Today many games are developed in large game studios where lots of skilled people are working together. Everyone has to know what the final game should look like. Game designers are responsible for how the game should feel and look like. This also means that they decide if a programmer has to develop new techniques or not. Sometimes the game designers require lots of new techniques to be developed. Such a new technique may be rendering particle systems with a lot of particles in it. This is where this report will focus. To render particle systems it is necessary to know about the limitations there are in both hardware and software. Until today particle systems have been updated and calculated using the Central Processing Unit of the computer. With Microsoft Direct3D 10 there are new ways to render particles using Geometry Shaders. Geometry Shaders runs on the graphics card. This thesis focuses on testing rendering performance between using Geometry Shaders and not using Geometry Shaders. A questionnaire was sent to Swedish game developers to get more information about relevant topics for investigation. A general answer was that Geometry Shaders always increase particle rendering performance. This thesis investigates if and when the statement is true or not. The hypothesis was obtained from the answers to the questionnaire. Two test applications were used to investigate if the hypothesis was true or false. One test application has particle calculations on the CPU of the computer. The other test application has particle calculations on the GPU of the graphics card. Six different tests were done and the Geometry Shader approach went out to be the fastest in five of the tests. Since not all tests were faster than the CPU approach the hypothesis is not always true.

I denna uppsats exploateras möjligheten att med hjälp av statistiska modeller skapa relativt tillförlitliga prognoser över framtida varians-, kovarians- och avkastningstermer för en portfölj av riskfyllda tillgångar. Prognoserna används som inputvariabler i Markowitz’s portföljoptimeringsalgoritm som i sin tur bygger upp en aktieportfölj vars riskjusterade avkastning är långsiktigt bättre än sitt jämförelseindex, SBXCAP. Resultaten visar att tradingstrategin lyckas uppnå en 26 procent högre Sharpekvot än portföljernas relevanta jämförelseindex. Denna relativt stora, men inte statistiskt signifikanta, förbättring är möjlig genom att göra månadsvisa rebalanseringar och minimera den förväntade volatiliteten snarare än att försöka maximera den förväntade Sharpekvoten. Detta i sin tur beror på de stora svårigheter som är förknippade med att göra tillförlitliga avkastningsprognoser. Än större skillnader bör rimligtvis vara möjliga att uppnå genom att släppa de restriktioner som finns för svenska aktiefonder och därmed strukturera portföljens mandat som en hedgefond.

The aim of this Masters thesis is to examine how two novels written by the Swedish author Pär Lagerkvist have been received by the critics in the Swedish daily press concerning their contemporary anchorage. During the time these novels were published, Pär Lagerkvist, through his authorship, expressed a conception of and an attitude towards contemporary political directions. The first of the two novels, The Hangman, was published in 1933, and the second, The Dwarf, in 1944. A second aim is to examine how the two novels contemporary anchorage is reflected in the reviews. The final aim is to examine whether the criticism differs depending on the ideological view of the newspapers. This qualitative study is based upon a total of 25 reviews from the Swedish daily press. The theoretical approach mainly comes from two Swedish professors in Sociology of Literature, Lars Furuland and Johan Svedjedal. My method of analysis is a textual one, analysis of ideas and ideology, focusing on the aspect of signification of a text. The conclusion of this study shows that the critics in many ways appear to be quite similar in their critic. It is, however, not possible to detect any uniform line in their criticism. When it comes to The Hangman, the critics show a tendency to discuss the element of contemporary anchorage to a greater extent than in the case with The Dwarf.
