1. Dark Matter Phenomenology in 2HDMS

Abstract: The constituents of dark matter are still an unresolved puzzle. Several Beyond Standard Model (BSM) Physics offer suitable candidates. In this study here we consider the Two Higgs Doublet model augmented with a complex scalar singlet (2HDMS) and focus on the dark matter phenomenology of 2HDMS with the complex scalar singlet as the dark matter candidate. The parameter space allowed from existing experimental constraints from dark matter, flavour physics and collider searches has been studied. Abstract: During the preparatory phase of the International Linear Collider (ILC) project, all technical development and engineering design needed for the start of ILC construction must be completed, in parallel with intergovernmental discussion of governance and sharing of responsibilities and cost. The ILC Preparatory Laboratory (Pre-lab) is conceived to execute the technical and engineering work and to assist the intergovernmental discussion by providing relevant information upon request. It will be based on a worldwide partnership among laboratories with a headquarters hosted in Japan. This proposal, prepared by the ILC International Development Team and endorsed by the International Committee for Future Accelerators, describes an organisational framework and work plan for the Pre-lab. Abstract: In the future the International Linear Collider (ILC), a helical undulator-based polarized positron source, is expected to be chosen. A high energy electron beam passes through a superconducting helical undulator in order to create circularly polarized photons which will be directed to a conversion target, resulting in electron-positron pairs. The resulting positron beam is longitudinally polarized. Since the photons are produced with an opening angle and pass through a long superconducting helical undulator, some of these photons will strike the undulator walls. Therefore photon masks must be placed along the undulator line in order to keep the power deposited in the undulator walls below the acceptable limit of 1W/m. The baseline design of the ILC is focused on 250 GeV center-of-mass energy and upgrade to center-of-mass energies of 350 and 500 GeV is foreseen. 11. Application of Plasma Lenses as Optical Matching Device for Positron Sources at Linear Colliders

Abstract: In the baseline design of the International Linear Collider (ILC) an undulator-based positron source is foreseen. The proposed luminosity of the recently chosen first energy stage with √{s}=250 GeV requires an improvement by a factor of 2500 to the world’s first linear collider, the past SLC experiment. This ambitious luminosity goal can only be achieved, if all technological boundaries are being pushed. One such area is the captured positron number, which is primarily determined in the capture section within the positron source and specifically by its optical matching device. It is responsible for transforming the phase-space of the outgoing particles produced in the target for the succeeding accelerator sections. The plasma lens is a new candidate for this task. It being an especially adequate method due its magnetic field being azimuthal. Optimizing an idealised tapered active plasma lens for the ILC led us to a design with improved captured positron yield, outperforming ILC’s currently proposed quarter wave transformer by approximately 50%. 15. Phenomenology of a Supersymmetric Model Inspired by Inflation

Abstract: The current challenges in High Energy Physics and Cosmology are to build coherent particle physics models to describe the phenomenology at colliders in the laboratory and the observations in the universe. From these observations, the existence of an inflationary phase in the early universe gives guidance for particle physics models. We study a supersymmetric model which incorporates successfully inflation by a non-minimal coupling to supergravity and shows a unique collider phenomenology. Motivated by experimental data, we set a special emphasis on a new singlet-like state at 97 GeV and single out possible observables for a future linear collider that permit a distinction of the model from a similar scenario without inflation. We define a benchmark scenario that is in agreement with current collider and Dark Matter constraints, and study the influence of the non-minimal coupling on the phenomenology. Measuring the singlet-like state with high precision on the percent level seems to be promising for resolving the models, even though the Standard Model-like Higgs couplings deviate only marginally. However, a hypothetical singlet-like state with couplings of about 20% compared to a Standard Model Higgs at 97 GeV encourages further studies of such footprint scenarios of inflation.

Since the photons are created with an opening angle and traveling through a 320 m long undulator, it is expected that the superconducting undulator vacuum will be hit by the photons. Photon masks are needed to be inserted in the undulator line to keep the power deposition in the vacuum below the acceptable limit which is 1W/m. A detailed study of the power deposition in the vacuum and masks is needed in order to design the photon masks. This paper describes the power deposition in the undulator vacuum due to secondary particles assuming an ideal undulator. Abstract: The particle discovered in the Higgs boson searches at the LHC with a mass of about 125 GeV is compatible within the present uncertainties with the Higgs boson predicted in the Standard Model (SM), but it could also be identified with one of the neutral Higgs bosons in a variety of beyond the SM (BSM) theories with an extended Higgs sector. The possibility that an additional Higgs boson (or even more than one) could be lighter than the state that has been detected at 125 GeV occurs generically in many BSM models and has some support from slight excesses that were observed above the background expectations in Higgs searches at LEP and at the LHC. The couplings between additional Higgs fields and the electroweak gauge bosons in BSM theories could be probed by model-independent Higgs searches at lepton colliders. We present a generator-level extrapolation of the limits obtained at LEP to the case of a future $e^+e^-$ collider, both for the search where the light Higgs boson decays into a pair of bottom quarks and for the decay-mode-independent search utilising the recoil method. We find that at the ILC with a centre-of-mass energy of 250 GeV, an integrated luminosity of 500 fb$^{-1}$ and polarised beams, the sensitivity to a light Higgs boson with reduced couplings to gauge bosons is improved by more than an order of magnitude compared to the LEP limits and goes much beyond the projected indirect sensitivity of the HL-LHC with 3000 fb$^{-1}$ from the rate measurements of the detected state at 125 GeV.

Abstract: The design of the positron source for the International Linear Collider (ILC) is still under discussion. The baseline design plans to use the high-energy electron beam for the positron production before it goes to the IP. The electrons pass a long helical undulator and generate an intense circularly polarized photon beam which hits a thin conversion target to produce $e^+e^-$ pairs. The resulting positron beam is longitudinally polarized which provides an important benefit for precision physics analyses at the ILC. In this paper the status of the positron target design studies is presented. Focus is the positron yield for center-of-mass energies of 250 GeV and also the Z peak. Abstract: International audience; The International Large Detector, ILD, is a detector concept which has been developed for the electron-positron collider ILC. The detector has been optimized for precision physics in a range of energies between 90 GeV and 1 TeV. ILD features a high precision, large volume combined silicon and gaseous tracking system, together with a high granularity calorimeter, all inside a 3.5 T solenoidal magnetic field. The paradigm of particle flow has been the guiding principle of the design of ILD. In this document the required performance of the detector, the proposed implementation and the readiness of the different technologies needed for the implementation are discussed. This is done in the framework of the ILC collider proposal, now under consideration in Japan, and includes site specific aspects needed to build and operate the detector at the proposed ILC site in Japan.

Abstract: International audience; The International Large Detector, ILD, is a detector concept which has been developed for the electron-positron collider ILC. The detector has been optimized for precision physics in a range of energies between 90 GeV and 1 TeV. ILD features a high precision, large volume combined silicon and gaseous tracking system, together with a high granularity calorimeter, all inside a 3.5 T solenoidal magnetic field. The paradigm of particle flow has been the guiding principle of the design of ILD. In this document the required performance of the detector, the proposed implementation and the readiness of the different technologies needed for the implementation are discussed. This is done in the framework of the ILC collider proposal, now under consideration in Japan, and includes site specific aspects needed to build and operate the detector at the proposed ILC site in Japan.

The detector has been optimized for precision physics in a range of energies between 90 GeV and 1 TeV. ILD features a high precision, large volume combined silicon and gaseous tracking system, together with a high granularity calorimeter, all inside a 3.5 T solenoidal magnetic field. The paradigm of particle flow has been the guiding principle of the design of ILD. In this document the required performance of the detector, the proposed implementation and the readiness of the different technologies needed for the implementation are discussed. This is done in the framework of the ILC collider proposal, now under consideration in Japan, and includes site specific aspects needed to build and operate the detector at the proposed ILC site in Japan.

Abstract: The International Large Detector, ILD, is a detector concept which has been developed for the electron-positron collider ILC. The detector has been optimized for precision physics in a range of energies between 90 GeV and 1 TeV. ILD features a high precision, large volume combined silicon and gaseous tracking system, together with a high granularity calorimeter, all inside a 3.5 T solenoidal magnetic field. The paradigm of particle flow has been the guiding principle of the design of ILD. In this document the required performance of the detector, the proposed implementation and the readiness of the different technologies needed for the implementation are discussed. This is done in the framework of the ILC collider proposal, now under consideration in Japan, and includes site specific aspects needed to build and operate the detector at the proposed ILC site in Japan.

Abstract: Seminar, In the baseline design of the International Linear Collider (ILC) an undulator-based source is foreseen for the positron source in order to match the physics requirements. The baseline parameters are optimized for the ILC at $\sqrt{s} =$ 500 GeV, that means an electron drive beam of 250 GeV. Precision measurements in the Higgs sector, however, require measurements at $\sqrt{s} =$ 250 GeV, i.e. running with the electron drive beam only at 125 GeV, which imposes a challenge for achieving a high yield. Therefore the baseline undulator parameters have to be optimized as much as possible within their technical performances. In this bachelor thesis we therefore present a theoretical study on the radiation spectra of a helical undulator, based on the equation for the radiated synchrotron energy spectral density per solid angle per electron in the relativistic, far-field and point-like charge approximation. From this starting point the following undulator properties are examined: the deposited power in the undulator vessel, which can disrupt the functionality of the undulator magnets, the protective property of a mask on this disturbances and the number of positrons produced by the synchrotron radiation in a Ti-6Al-4-V target. Those quantities were evaluated for various values for parameters as undulator period, undulator length and magnetic flux in order to find optimal baseline parameter sets for $\sqrt{s} =$ 250 GeV.

Abstract: In the baseline design of the International Linear Collider (ILC) an undulator-based source is foreseen for the positron source in order to match the physics requirements. The baseline parameters are optimized for the ILC at sqrt(s)=500 GeV, that means an electron drive beam of 250 GeV. Precision measurements in the Higgs sector, however, require measurements at sqrt(s)=250 GeV, i.e. running with the electron drive beam only at 125 GeV, which imposes a challenge for achieving a high yield. Therefore the baseline undulator parameters have to be optimized as much as possible within their technical performances. ILD features a high precision, large volume combined silicon and gaseous tracking system, together with a high granularity calorimeter, all inside a 3.5 T solenoidal magnetic field. The paradigm of particle flow has been the guiding principle of the design of ILD. In this document the required performance of the detector, the proposed implementation and the readiness of the different technologies needed for the implementation are discussed. This is done in the framework of the ILC collider proposal, now under consideration in Japan, and includes site specific aspects needed to build and operate the detector at the proposed ILC site in Japan.

Abstract: The design of the positron source for the International Linear Collider (ILC) is still under consideration. The baseline design plans to use the electron beam for the positron production before it goes to the IP. The high-energy electrons pass a long helical undulator and generate an intense circularly polarized photon beam which hits a thin conversion target to produce $e^+e^-$ pairs. The resulting positron beam is longitudinally polarized which provides an important benefit for precision physics analyses. In this paper the status of the design studies is presented with focus on ILC250. In particular, the target design and cooling as well as issues of the optical matching device are important for the positron yield. Abstract: The positron source of the International Linear Collider is based on a superconducting helical undulator passed by the high-energy electron beam to generate photons which hit a conversion target. Since the photons are circularly polarized the resulting positron beam is polarized. At ILC250, the full undulator is needed to produce the required number of positrons. To keep the power deposition in the undulator walls below the acceptable limit of 1W/m, photon masks must be inserted in the undulator line. The photon mask design requires a detailed study of the power deposition in the walls and masks. Abstract: Seminar, The positron source of the International Linear Collider is based on a superconducting helical undulator passed by the high-energy electron beam to generate photons which hit a conversion target. Since the photons are circularly polarized the resulting positron beam is polarized. At ILC250, the full undulator is needed to produce the required number of positrons. To keep the power deposition in the undulator walls below the acceptable limit of 1W/m, photon masks must be inserted in the undulator line. The photon mask design requires a detailed study of the power deposition in the walls and masks. This paper describes the power deposition in the undulator wall due to synchrotron radiation.

Abstract: Seminar, The design of the positron source for the International Linear Collider (ILC) is still under consideration. The baseline design plans to use the electron beam for the positron production before it goes to the IP. The high-energy electrons pass a long helical undulator and generate an intense circularly polarized photon beam which hits a thin conversion target to produce $e^+e^-$ pairs. The resulting positron beam is longitudinally polarized which provides an important benefit for precision physics analyses. In this paper the status of the design studies is presented with focus on ILC250. In particular, the target design and cooling as well as issues of the optical matching device are important for the positron yield. Some possibilities to optimize the system are discussed.

Abstract: A high-energy $e^+e^-$ Linear Collider has been considered since a long time as an important complement to the LHC. Unprecedented precision measurements as well as the exploration of so far untouched phase space for direct production of new particles will provide unique information to advance the limits of our understanding of our universe. Within this project, the physics prospects of such a collider as well as their interplay with design of the accelerator and the detectors have been investigated in a quantitative way. This kind of study required a close collaboration between theory and experiment, always taking into account results of the LHC and other relevant experiments. 36. Automatised ILC-Bounds on Dark Matter Models with CheckMATE

Abstract: The public collider phenomenology computing tool CheckMATE (Check Models at Terascale Energies) was originally designed to allow theorists to quickly test their favourite BSM models against various existing LHC analyses performed by ATLAS and CMS. It offers an automatised chain of Monte Carlo event generation, detector simulation, event analysis and statistical evaluation so that it can automatically determine whether a given parameter point of a BSM model is excluded or not. Currently, it contains more than 50 individual ATLAS or CMS analyses whose several hundred signal regions target various final states as they typically appear in theories beyond the Standard Model. In this study, we extend this functionality to allow sensitivity studies for the International Linear Collider. As an example, we implemente a dark matter monophoton search and use it to analyse three benchmark scenarios with different assumptions about the interaction between dark matter and Standard Model particles. We scrutinize the allowed parameter space of Little Higgs models with the concrete symmetry of T-parity by providing comprehensive analyses of all relevant production channels of heavy vectors, top partners, heavy quarks and heavy leptons and all phenomenologically relevant decay channels. Constraints on the model will be derived from the signatures of jets and missing energy or leptons and missing energy. Besides the symmetric case, we also study the case of T-parity violation. Abstract: In the baseline design of the International Linear Collider (ILC) an undulator-based source is foreseen for the positron source. In this study the energy deposition in the pulsed flux concentrator (FC) of positron source is calculated for the ILC at 250 GeV center-of-mass energy. The peak energy of 33 J/g deposited by one beam pulse in the current design of the FC is above the limit for copper material. Several promising options were considered to solve the issue of overheating the FC: the quarter wave transformer (QWT) has a significantly bigger aperture and is considered as an valuable and safe alternative for the FC. 44. Euclidean mirrors: enhanced vacuum decay from reflected instantons

Abstract: Journal of physics / G G, Nuclear and particle physics 45(5), 055007 (2018). doi:10.1088/1361-6471/aab5c4, We study the tunneling of virtual matter-antimatter pairs from the quantum vacuum in the presence of a spatially uniform temporal electric background composed of of a strong slow field superimposed with a weak rapid field. After analytic continuation to Euclidean spacetime we obtain from the instanton equations two critical points. While one of them is the closing point of the instanton path, the other serves as an Euclidean mirror which reflects and squeezes the instanton. It is this reflection and shrinking which is responsible for an enormous enhancement of the vacuum pair production rate. We discuss how important features of this mechanism can be analysed and understood via such a rotation in the complex plane. Consistent with previous studies, we consider certain examples where we apply weak fields with a distinct pole structure in order to show that the reflection takes place exactly at the poles. We also discuss the effect of possible sub-cycle structures. We extend this reflection picture to fields which have no poles present and illustrate the effective reflections with explicit examples. An additional field strength dependence for the rate occurs in such cases. We analytically compute the characteristic threshold for this mechanism given by the critical combined Keldysh parameter. We discuss significant differences between these two types of fields. For various backgrounds, we present the contributing instantons and perform analytical computations for the corresponding rates treating both fields nonperturbatively. The validity of the results is confirmed by numerical computations.
