Generic models in Galileons or Horndeski theory do not have cosmological solutions that are free of instabilities and singularities in the entire time of evolution. We extend this No-Go theorem to a spacetime with torsion. On this more general geometry the No-Go argument now holds provided the additional hypothesis that the graviton is also subluminal throughout the entire evolution. Thus, critically different for Galileons' stability on a torsionful spacetime, an arguably unphysical although arbitrarily short (deep UV) phase occurring at an arbitrary time, when the speed of gravity $(c_g)$ is slighlty higher than luminal $(c)$, and by at least an amount $(c_g\geq \,\sqrt{2\,c} )$, can lead to an all-time (linearly) stable and nonsingular cosmology. As a proof of principle we build a stable model for a cosmological bounce that is almost always subluminal, where the short-lived superluminal phase occurs before the bounce and that transits to General Relativity in the asymptotic past and future., Comment: 7 pages, 4 figures

We consider the Quartic Horndeski theory with torsion on a FLRW background in the second order formalism. We show that there is a one parameter family of Quartic Horndeski Cartan Lagrangians and all such theories only modify the dispersion relations of the graviton and the scalar perturbation that are usually found in the standard Horndeski theory on a torsionless spacetime. In other words, for the theories in this class torsion does not induce new degrees of freedom but it only modifies the propagation. We also show that for most Lagrangians within the family of Quartic Horndeski Cartan theories the dispersion relation of the scalar mode is radically modified. We find only one theory within the family whose scalar mode has a regular wave-like dispersion relation.

In this paper we have constructed the unconstrained action for the perturbations above Bianchi I type background in the most general scalar-tensor theory of gravity, the Horndeski theory. The result could be used now in the context of anisotropic early Universe models, no-go theorems and general stability and in anisotropic probes of current cosmological perturbations.

We consider the issue of stability at the linearized level for static, spherically symmetric wormhole solutions within a subclass of scalar-tensor theories of beyond Horndeski type. In this class of theories we derive a set of stability conditions ensuring the absence of ghosts and both radial and angular gradient instabilities about a static, spherically-symmetric background. This set of constraints extends the existing one and completes the stability analysis for high energy modes in both parity odd and parity even sectors, while "slow" tachyonic instabilities remain unconstrained. We give an example of beyond Horndeski Lagrangian admitting a wormhole solution which complies with all stability constraints for the high energy modes., 30 pages, 2 figures

It is known that the construction of a completely stable solution in Horndeski theory is restricted very strongly by the so-called no-go theorem. Previously, various techniques have been used to avoid the conditions of the theorem. In this paper a new way of constructing stable solutions are shown in the general Horndeski theory. We considered the situation in which the unitary gauge studied earlier turns out to be singular. On this basis we construct a spatially flat, stable bouncing and genesis Universe solutions which are described by General Relativity with non-conventional scalar field.

We study the Mana and Magic for quantum states. They have a standard definition through the Clifford group, which is finite and thus classically computable. We introduce a modified Mana and Magic, which keep their main property of classical computability, while making other states classically computable. The mechanisms of transformation of a globular-lamellar structure into an ultra-fine grained structure are analyzed. It was shown that, in the course of rotary swaging, the evolution of the globular-lamellar structure of the alloy is controlled by temperature-rate conditions and is characterized by the formation of deformation boundaries. It was shown that the process of spheroidization of the lamellar component of the alloy is regulated by the mechanism of splitting the boundaries, the formation of global particles, alpha and beta phases with a size of 0.3 microns. We show that Josephson $��$ junctions with the half-metallic (HM) weak link coupled to the superconducting (S) electrodes through the ferromagnetic (F) layers host collective excitations of magnetic moment and the Josephson phase. This results in the shift of the ferromagnetic resonance frequency, anomalies in the current-voltage characteristics and the appearance of additional magnetic anisotropy in the F layers. In contrast to the previously studied S/F/S junctions, the coupling between magnetic and plasma modes emerges even in the long-wavelength limit. Such coupling is shown to enable the controllable magnetization reversal in the F layer governed by the d.c. current pulse which provides the effective mechanism for magnetic moment manipulation in the devices of superconducting spintronics., 7 pages, 2 figures

We demonstrate that a Josephson junction with a half-metallic weak link integrated into the superconducting loop enables the pumping of magnetic flux piercing the loop. In such junctions, the ground state phase $��$ is determined by the mutual orientation of magnetic moments in two ferromagnets surrounding the half-metal. Thus, the precession of magnetic moment in one of two ferromagnets controlled, e.g., by the microwave radiation, results in the accumulation of the phase $��$ and subsequent switching between the states with different vorticities. The proposed flux pumping mechanism does not require the application of voltage or external magnetic field which enables the design of electrically decoupled memory cells in superconducting spintronics., 5 pages, 5 figures

The effect of laser radiation polarization on the photoionization of lutetium is studied using three-stage scheme 5d6s2 2D3/2-5d6s6p 4Fo5/2-5d6s7s 4D3/2- (53375 cm-1)o1/2. It is shown that in a number of cases, there is a limitation of photoionization associated with the features of coherent photoexcitation. Keywords: laser selective photoionization, lutetium-177.

Analytical solutions of the Schr?dinger equations for coherent excitation of an atom in the scheme of two- and three-stage photoionization are obtained as applied to the problem of laser isotope separation. A feature of the study is the introduction of laser excitation from an additional initial state to increase the fraction of the atoms involved in the separation process. The optimal from the points of view of photoion ratios of radiation intensities at individual photoionization stages are found. Key words: laser photoionization, laser isotope separation.

FIELD: manufacturing technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of high-alumina cement, in particular to production thereof in complex use of products of combined wasteless dressing of low-quality bauxites. In the method of producing high-alumina cement, involving mixing bauxite, coke, scrap metal and limestone with obtaining a crude mixture, during melting of which there formed is cast iron and alumina slag – clinker of alumina cement, crude mixture contains high-alumina autoclave concentrate – a product of chemical enrichment in a autoclave of bauxite which is not burnt with content of pyrite and silica, alumina and anthracite AM at the following ratio of components, wt%: high-alumina autoclave concentrate – 40–65, alumina – 5–20, anthracite AM – 0.9, metal scrap – 4, lime is the rest, and the raw mixture is melted in an electric arc furnace at temperature of 1,450 °C. EFFECT: possibility of using bauxite with high content of harmful impurities, obtaining high-alumina cement with high early strength and stability during long-term hardening of cement stone. This essay is a brief review of the recent studies of non-singular cosmological scenarios with bounce and Genesis and their stability in a subclass of scalar-tensor theories with higher derivatives -- beyond Horndeski theories. We discuss the general results of stability analysis of the non-singular cosmological solutions in beyond Horndeski theories, as well as other closely related topics: 1) the no-go theorem, which is valid in the general Horndeski theories but not in their extensions, 2) singularities in disformal transformations relating beyond Horndeski theories with general ones, 3) healthy behaviour of the scalar sector in the unitary gauge despite divergencies of coefficients in the quadratic action for perturbations ("$\gamma$-crossing"). We show that a wide class of layered superconductor-ferromagnet (S/F) hybrids demonstrate the emergence of the Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov (FFLO) phase well below the superconducting transition temperature. Decreasing the temperature one can switch the system from uniform to the FFLO state which is accompanied by the damping of the diamagnetic Meissner response down to zero and also by the sign change in the curvature of the current-velocity dependence. Our estimates show that an additional layer of the normal metal (N) covering the ferromagnet substantially soften the conditions required for the predicted FFLO instability and for existing S/F/N systems the temperature of the transition into the FFLO phase can reach several kelvins., 10 pages, 8 figures, 3 tables

It is known that beyond Horndeski theory admits healthy bouncing cosmological solutions. However, the constructions proposed so far do not reduce to General Relativity (GR) in either infinite past or infinite future or both. The obstacle is so called $��$-crossing, which off hand appears pathological. By working in the unitary gauge, we confirm the recent observation by Ijjas [arXiv:1710.05990] that $��$-crossing is, in fact, healthy. On this basis we construct a spatially flat, stable bouncing Universe solution whose asymptotic past and future are described by GR with conventional massless scalar field., 23 pages, journal version of the article. Ptilonyssus degtiarevae, n. sp. belongs to the newly established orthonychus species complex, and Ptilonyssus lovottiae n. sp. is referred to the hirsti species complex. The species content of the hirsti complex0, originally defined by Fain and Bafort 1963 is enlarged comparing to the concept of previous researchers.

The current trend in the development of electric drive systems is the replacement of mechanical transmissions and kinematic connections by electric ones, that is, the fusion of an electric motor with a working element (actuating element). The main advantage of a stepper motor is the ability to realize precise positioning and speed control without applying feedback (speed, position). The limitation in the use of stepper motors is power and speed, but in practice, their use is entirely justified in inexpensive machine tools having a CNC system designed for processing wood, plastics, light metals and other materials of medium speed, the need for manufacturers of CNC machines for accuracy and speed. A conveyor line was developed on a system of stepper motors without feedback for the pharmaceutical industry.

We show that the peculiarities of the electron band structure strongly affect the spin-valve effect in heterostructures consisting of a superconductor (S) and two ferromagnetic layers F1 and F2. For the S/F1/F2 systems the energy shift between the electron bands in the S and F2 layers determines wether the critical temperature $T_c$ of the superconductor increases or decreases as a function of the angle $\theta$ between the magnetic moments in the ferromagnets. In the case of half-metallic F2 layer the type of the spin-valve effect becomes dependent on the position of the only occupied spin-band and the minimum of $T_c$ may correspond to the anti-parallel, parallel or non-collinear orientations of magnetic moments. Also, for the first time, we analytically demonstrate the possibility of the triplet spin-valve effect in the F/S/half-metal structures., Comment: 10 pages, 5 figures

GENUS Michaelia TROUESSART, 1884 Type species: Freyana (Canestrinia) bihamata MØgnin and Trouessart, 1884 (= Dermaleichus heteropus Michael, 1881, synonymy by Trouessart, 1884: 527), originally described from Phalacrocorax aristotelis (Linnaeus, 1761) (= P. cristatus [Gmelin, 1798]). Males of the feather mite genus Michaelia are so bizarrely distorted that, when the first species " Dermaleichus heteropus Michael, 1881 " was discovered, the author was reluctant to describe it based on a single male found, fearing it might be an abnormally distorted specimen (Michael 1881). He was only encouraged to describe the odd mite after he collected more specimens in the next year, and realized that all were identically asymmetrical. Michaelia species are large sized freyanids (females 600 – 750 µm, males 800 – 1090 µm in length). There are two male morphs in these mites, homeomorphs and heteromorphs; both morphs have asymmetrical anterior legs, but the opisthosomal lobes are asymmetrical only in heteromorphs. Females and immatures are absolutely symmetrical and are relatively wider and shorter than both male morphs. All five species of Michaelia including a new species described herein are associated with cormorants (Pelecaniformes, genus Phalacrocorax) (Dubinin, 1953; Gaud, 1970; Gaud and Atyeo, 1982). Besides all these valid species included in the key below, Dubinin (1953) recognized three more species without formal descriptions of them (Michaelichus americanus, M. javanicus and M. malaicus). These species, as noted by Gaud and Atyeo (1982), are nomina nuda. Taxonomic remarks — Gaud and Atyeo (1982) correctly indicated that Michaelia Trouessart, 1884 preceded Michaelichus Trouessart and MØgnin, 1885 and therefore the former genus name has priority. They also emended the spelling of the subfamily from Michaelichinae Gaud and Mouchet 1959 to Michaeliinae, which was an unjustified emendation. According to article 40.1 of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN), the junior synonymy of a type genus should not affect the subfamily name. Experience in diagnosis and treatment of 32 athletes, ballet dancers and circus actors aged from 15 to 25 years with lumbosacral spine spinous ligaments pathology is presented. In 12 cases pathology of subspinous and in 24 cases of interspinous ligaments was diagnosed. Acute injury of spinous ligaments and ligamentopathy was diagnosed in 6 and 26 patients, respectively. Complex diagnosis included clinical-neurologic examination, ultrasonography and thermography. All patients were on conservative treatment: therapeutic physical training using special individual complex, massage, curative-analgesic blockades, injections of platelet-rich plasma, injections of sclerosing solutions in Baastrup syndrome, injections of nitrogen-oxygen mixtures into paravertebral muscles, use of vascular drugs and stimulating therapy. Analysis of the obtained results confirmed high efficacy of the proposed methods for the diagnosis and treatment of lumbosacral spine spinous ligaments pathology in athletes and ballet dancers.

Experience in diagnosis and treatment of lumbar vertebrae apophysitis in 29 athletes and ballet dancers aged from 13 to 29 years is presented. In 25 patients pathology of thoracolumbar and upper lumbar spine was diagnosed. In 4 patients S1 apophysitis was detected including 3 patients with combination of S1 apophysitis and L4-L5 spondylolysis. Diagnosis consisted of clinical-neurologic, roentgenologic (standard including functional tests) and ultrasonographic examinations. In combination of apophysitis and spondylolysis radionuclide examination was performed. All patients were under conservative treatment which included individual complex of exercise therapy, massage, intramuscular, sympathetic trunk, ilipsoas muscle blockades, ozone-oxygen mixture injections into paravertebral muscles, use of vascular drugs, chondroprotectors and stimulating therapy. Analysis of the results confirmed high efficacy of the proposed methods for diagnosis and treatment of lumbar apophysitis in athletes and ballet dancers.

The effect of cryogenic deformation on the structure refinement of copper was studied.

The experience in examination and treatment of 92 patients (athletes and ballet dancers) with lumbar pain syndrome caused by pathology of intravertebral joints, so-called faset syndrome is presented. Curative diagnostic blockade of a joint has an important significance for exact diagnosis side by side with clinical and roentgenologic examination. Treatment included analgetic blockade and transcutaneous radiofrequency destruction of facet nerves. Comparative analysis of conservative and operative methods of treatment of athletes and ballet dancers with facet syndrome was carried out.

We demonstrate that contrary to the common belief the critical temperature Tc of clean F1/S/F2 spin valves can depend non-monotonically on the angle between the magnetic moments of the ferromagnetic F1 and F2 layers. Depending on the system parameters the minimum of Tc may correspond to parallel, antiparallel or non-collinear mutual orientation of magnetic moments. Such anomalous behavior can reveal itself only provided the ferromagnetic layers differ from each other and it completely disappears in the dirty limit., Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures

Calcium is an ubiquitous second messenger that triggers a plethora of key physiological responses. The events are initiated in micro- or nano-sized compartments and determined by the complex interactions with calcium-binding proteins and mechanisms of calcium clearance. Local calcium increases in the vicinity of single channels represent an essentially non-linear reaction-diffusion problem that have been analysed previously using various linearized approximations. I revisited the problem of stationary patterns that can be generated by the point calcium source in the presence of buffer and obtained new explicit solutions. Main results of the analysis of the calcium buffering are supplemented with pertinent derivations and discussion of respective mathematical problems in Appendices. I show that for small calcium influx the calcium gradients around established around channel lumen have quasi-exponential form. For bigger fluxes, when the buffer is saturated, the model predicts periodic patterns. The transition between the two regimes depend on the capacity of buffer and its mobility. Theoretical predictions were examined using a model one-dimensional system. For sufficiently big fluxes the oscillatory calcium patterns were observed. Theoretical and experimental results are discussed in terms of their possible physiological implications.

Excessive stimulation of glutamatergic receptors (GluRs) can overexcite neurons. This can be dampened by KATP channels linking metabolic and neuronal activities, but the cross-talk has not yet been examined on the single channel level. In the brainstem and hippocampal neurons, GluR agonists augmented the open state probability (Popen) of KATP channels with relative efficacy: kainate AMPANMDAt-ACPD. Inhibition of calcium influx and chelation of intracellular calcium did not modify the effects. Kainate did not augment production of reactive oxygen species measured with roGFP1. H2O2 slightly increased Popen, but GluR effects were not modified. GluR actions were abolished in Na(+)-free solutions and after blockade of Na(+)-K(+)-ATPase. KATP channels in open-cell patch-clamp measurements were inhibited by ATP, stimulated by ADP, and kainate was effective only in the presence of ATP. GluR stimulation enhanced ATP consumption that decreased submembrane ATP levels, whereas metabolic poisoning diminished bulk ATP. Modelling showed strong ATP depletion and ADP accumulation near the membrane, and both effects contributed to Popen increases after GluR stimulation. Kainate and hypoxia activated KATP channels in the functional brainstem slices. Inhibition of aerobic ATP production and GluR stimulation were about equally effective in KATP channel opening during hypoxia. Induction of seizure-like activity in hippocampal slices with Mg(2+)-free solutions was accompanied by ATP decrease and KATP channel opening. We propose that KATP channels and GluRs are functionally coupled that can regulate long-lasting changes of neuronal activity in the CNS neurons.

In the recent paper (2011) Faas and co-workers claimed that calmodulin could directly detect Ca2+ signals by acting as extremely fast calcium buffer. However the results and their interpretation raise serious doubts about this conclusion.

In recent years, deformation at very low (cryogenic) temperatures has been considered as a promising approach for radical grinding of the grain structure. In this connection, it is of interest to estimate the thermal stability of cryogenically deformed materials. In this work, the evolution of the structure during low-temperature (50-250 ° C) annealing of copper subjected to preliminary cryogenic rolling to 90% reduction was investigated. It was found that recrystallization in the material begins at room temperature and ends after annealing at 150 ° C. The recrystallization process is accompanied by intense formation of annealing twins.

The described method for analysis of misorientation distribution in terms of a specific grain-boundary surface has been used. It was found that this approach was effective for study of grain structure evolution during deformation, recrystallization and grain growth.

In present paper we develop the description of massless fields on the basis of space-time algebra of sixteen-component sedeons. The generalized sedeonic second-order equation for unified gravitoelectromagnetic (GE) field describing simultaneously gravity and electromagnetism is proposed. The second-order relations for the GE field energy, momentum and Lorentz invariants are derived. We consider also the generalized sedeonic first-order equation for the massless neutrino field. The second-order relations for the neutrino potentials analogues to the Pointing theorem and Lorentz invariant relations in gravitoelectromagnetism are also derived., 18 pages

We demonstrate that in a wide class of multilayered superconductor - ferromagnet structures (e.g., S/F, S/F/N and S/F/F') the vanishing Meissner effect signals the appearance of the in-plane Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov (FFLO) modulated superconducting phase. In contrast to the bulk superconductors the FFLO instability in these systems can emerge at temperatures close to the critical one and is effectively controlled by the S layer thickness and the angle between magnetization vectors in the F/F' bilayers. Influence of cryogenic conditions of deformation on refining the structural Cu components in case of initial large grain structure. It has been found that deformation at cryogenic temperature intensifies process of forming the strain origin boundaries and activates mechanical twinning, however, does not make it possible to obtain nanocrystalline structures.

The production of submicrocrystalline and nanocrystalline materials with desired properties is an important task of modern materials science [1]. One of the promising directions in this area is deformation at a cryogenic temperature [2-5]. However, the effectiveness of this approach is not yet completely clear, and therefore the urgent task is to study the microstructure after cryogenic deformation, as well as the mechanisms of its formation.
