The Position Paper was developed by the SHERPA Multi-Actor Platform (MAP) based in Sofia, Bulgaria. In this paper, it discusses several key elements at the basis of the social dimension in rural areas of Bulgaria, with a particular attention to social infrastructure. Having in mind the broadness of the concept for the social infrastructure, this Position Paper opted to prioritize and focus on few key elements that nowadays really matters and determine the rural development: health care, education system, social cares and administrative services. The Paper underlines that social infrastructure in rural areas lags behind the same in urban areas and some of the cause for it is the limited public funding.

The study of land relations (LR) is part of the process of studying the nature and state of economic relations and changes in the economic environment in which agriculture operates. The nature of LR is determined by their direct symbiosis with production and economic relations in the industry. The processes in land relations and the topic of land have been considered since the birth of economic theories. This is due to the fact that land is the main factor of production in the land - labor - capital system. The dissertation research is based on the need to analyze the problems that arose after the land and agricultural reform in the 90s, as well as due to changes in the institutional environment for the functioning of Bulgarian agriculture after the country's accession to the common European economic space. At the forefront is the need to solve problems related to the failed land and agricultural reform on the one hand, and some of the new processes arising from land use in the EU CAP, on the other, which, due to incentives, distort the real processes in the economic system. There is a desire to meet the conditions for the absorption of subsidies. Изследването на поземлените отношения (ПО) е част от процеса на изучаване характера и състоянието на икономическите отношения и промените в стопанската среда, в която функционира селското стопанство. Характерът на ПО се определя от пряката им симбиоза с производствените и икономическите отношения в отрасъла. Процесите в поземлените отношения и темата за земята се разглеждат още при зараждането на икономическите теории. Това се дължи на факта, че земята е основният производствен фактор в системата земя - труд - капитал. Дисертационното изследване се извежда от необходимостта от анализ на проблемите, възникнали след проведената поземлена и аграрна реформа през 90-те години, както и поради промените в институционалната среда за функциониране на българското земеделие след присъединяването на страната към общото европейско икономическо пространство. На преден план е необходимостта от решения на проблеми, свързани с неуспешната поземлена и аграрна реформа от една страна, и част от новите процеси, възникнали от ползването на земята в условията на ОСП на ЕС, от друга, които, поради заложените стимули, изкривяват реалните процеси в икономическата система. Проявява се стремеж към изпълнение на условия за усвояване на субсидии.

The concept of this report is based on the fact that for many years small farms have been important for the survival of rural areas and have a socio-economic function, namely providing income, employment and food for families for whom agriculture is their only livelihood. For many years we have witnessed the desolation of Bulgarian villages. The COVID-19 pandemic has led many people to flee the bustling city and seek more peace and clean production on the small farm. It has been proven that the personal farm and the connection of generations of Bulgarians with agriculture is related to solving crisis periods in the life of the population. Whether the 2027 CAP will become more social is a matter of scientific, socio-economic and political interest. Through a wide range of modern research methods, such as representative results of comprehensive censuses of agricultural holdings over different periods of time, structural surveys, results of empirical sociological research, desk research, Internet sources, graphical method, etc., we prove that in times of crisis phenomena, the small farm is proving to be a stabilizing factor for both food producers and consumers. Returning part of the younger generation to active farming will recognize the paramount importance of small farms for sustainable rural development, especially in the areas of social, cultural and environmental activities, as well as the promotion of healthy lifestyles. Концепцията на този доклад се базира на това, че именно малките стопанства години наред са важни за оцеляването на селските райони и имат социално-икономическа функция, а именно осигуряване на доходи, заетост и прехрана на семействата, за които земеделието е единствен поминък. Дълги години бяхме свидетели на опустяването на българските села. Пандемията от COVID-19 накара много хора да избягат от шумния град и да търсят повече спокойствието и чистото производство в малкото земеделско стопанство. Доказано е, че именно личното стопанство и връзката на поколения българи със земеделието, е свързано с решаване на кризисни периоди от живота на населението. Ще стане ли по-социална ОСП 2027 г. е въпрос от научен, социално-икономически и политически интерес. Чрез широк набор от съвременни методи за изследване, като представителни резултати от цялостни преброявания на земеделските стопанства през различни периоди от време, структурни анкети, резултати от емпирични социологически изследвания, кабинетни проучвания, интернет източници, графичен метод и др, доказваме че в условията на кризисни явления, малкото стопанство се оказва стабилизиращ фактор както на производителите, така и на потребителите на храни. Връщане на част от младото поколение към активна земеделска дейност ще доведе до признаването на първостепенната важност на малките стопанства за устойчивото развитие на селските райони, особено в областта на социалните, културните и екологичните дейности, както и до насърчаване на здравословния начин на живот.

In 2009 Studio LAIKA’s released their much anticipated adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s book Coraline. The makers of this film went to great lengths to create a believable world that was a perfect and accurate scaled down miniature version of our own. However, the film also contains a plethora of explicit and implicit reminders of the real world scale and materiality of its puppets, props and sets. This chapter utilizes advances in neuroscience, and in our understanding of the visual processes of the human brain, to shed light on the ways in which these real world reminders function alongside the narrative of Gaiman’s original book. The chapter argues that these reminders of real world existence of the puppets and sets assists in creating a heightened sense of bodily threat and jeopardy, within the safe space of stop-motion animation.
