Aim of the Review. This study aims to summarize the therapeutic effect of luteolin on the pathogenesis of viral pneumonia, explore its absorption and metabolism in the human body, evaluate the possibility of luteolin as a drug to treat viral pneumonia, and provide a reference for future research. Materials and Methods. We searched MEDLINE/PubMed, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and Google Scholar and collected research on luteolin in the treatment of viral pneumonia and related diseases since 2003. Then, we summarized the efficacy and potential of luteolin in directly inhibiting viral activity, limiting inflammatory storms, reducing pulmonary inflammation, and treating pneumonia complications. Results and Conclusion. Luteolin has the potential to treat viral pneumonia in multiple ways. Luteolin has a direct inhibitory effect on coronavirus, influenza virus, and respiratory syncytial virus. Luteolin can alleviate the inflammatory factor storm induced by multiple factors by inhibiting the function of macrophages or mast cells. Luteolin can reduce pulmonary inflammation, pulmonary edema, or pulmonary fibrosis induced by multiple factors. In addition, viral pneumonia may cause multisystem complications, while luteolin has extensive protective effects on the gastrointestinal system, cardiovascular system, and nervous system. However, due to the first-pass metabolism mediated by phase II enzymes, the bioavailability of oral luteolin is low. The bioavailability of luteolin can be improved, and its potential value can be further developed by changing the dosage form or route of administration.

Background. Ingrown nails are a type of nonspecific inflammation of nail folds. Intralesional injection is a rarely reported nonsurgical therapy for ingrown nails. Objective. To observe the efficacy of treating ingrown nails with intralesional injection, and to evaluate at which stage ingrown nails are applicable for this therapy. Methods. Ingrown nails were randomly divided into treatment (n = 87) and control (n = 37) groups. The treatment group received local injections combined with basic nursing, whereas the control group was only treated with basic nursing. Patients were followed up at 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months after the first treatment. Results. A statistically significant difference of the efficacy rates was observed between the two groups ( P P = 0.019). Conclusion. Intralesional injection is an effective therapy for ingrown nails, especially in the short term. This therapy is more applicable for Martinez-Nova stage I and IIA ingrown nails and can be used as a symptomatic treatment to relieve the acute inflammation of ingrown nails at stages IIB, III, and IV.

We aimed to investigate the comfort, safety, and endoscopic visibility during esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) afforded by a modified 4-hour semifluid and 2-hour water ("4+2") fasting protocol.In this parallel group, endoscopist-blinded, randomized controlled trial, outpatients undergoing unsedated diagnostic EGD from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. were randomly assigned to either a "4+2" protocol group or a conventional fasting group. The participants' comfort during the fasting period and procedure was measured using the visual analog scale, and mucosal visibility was measured by endoscopists using the total visibility score. Satisfaction was defined as a visual analog scale score of ≤3. The primary outcome was the participants' comfort during fasting.One hundred and six and 108 participants were randomized to the "4+2" protocol and control groups, respectively. Participants' comfort before EGD was significantly higher in the "4+2" protocol group measured by both the proportion of satisfaction (86.8% vs 63.9%, p=0.002) and the visual analog scale score (median [interquartile range]: 1.0 [1.0-2.0] vs 3.0 [1.0-4.0], p0.001). The proportion of satisfaction during EGD also significantly improved (59.4% vs 45.4%, p=0.039) in the "4+2" protocol group. The total visibility score was unaffected by the fasting protocol (5.0 [4.0-5.0] vs 4.0 [4.0-5.0], p=0.266). No adverse events were observed during the study.The "4+2" protocol was more comfortable and provided equal mucosal visibility and safety compared with conventional fasting for unsedated EGD.

The nail apparatus is the largest and most complex skin appendage. Defects in this unit can result in significant functional insufficiency and cosmetic disfigurement. Common nail deformities include split nail, short nail, onycholysis, nail malalignment, hooked nail, and absent nail. Currently, surgical repair is the primary treatment for such deformities. Based on the etiological and anatomical classifications, one or more appropriate operations can be selected to repair nail unit deformities. These include autologous fat grafting, longitudinal cicatrectomy, Z-plasties, nail bed elongation, split-thickness sterile matrix grafting, volar V-Y advanced flap reconstruction, sterile matrix particle grafting, germinal matrix flaps, and germinal matrix grafting. This review discusses the fundamental classification of nail unit deformities, common reconstructive surgical techniques, and their features.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common type of liver malignancy with high incidence and poor prognosis. Transmembrane protein 147 (TMEM147) has been implicated in the development of colon cancer. However, the role of TMEM147 in HCC remains unclear. In this study, data of 371 HCC tissues, 50 adjacent nontumor tissues, and 110 normal liver tissues were retrieved from the TCGA and GTEx databases. TMEM147 expression was found to be increased in HCC tissues. High expression of TMEM147 was related to poor prognosis, and TMEM147 was confirmed to be an independent prognostic factor for HCC patients. A receiver operating characteristics (ROC) analysis was performed and showed that the diagnostic efficacy of TMEM147 was significantly higher than that of AFP (0.908 versus 0.746, p < 0.001). Furthermore, TMEM147 promoted tumor immune infiltration, and macrophages were the immune cells that predominantly expressed TMEM147 in HCC. Further analysis revealed that TMEM147 mainly impacted the ribosome pathway, and CTCF, MLLT1, TGIF2, ZNF146, and ZNF580 were predicted to be the upstream transcription factors for TMEM147 in HCC. These results suggest that TMEM147 serves as a promising biomarker for diagnosis and prognosis and may potentially become a therapeutic target for HCC.

Dictyophora indusiata is one of the most famous edible mushrooms in China. D. indusiata polysaccharide (DP) has attracted increasing attention because of its multiple beneficial effects. In this study, the in vitro simulated digestion and microbial fermentation were designed to reveal the potential catabolic property of DP and its impacts on the modulation of gut microbial composition. The results showed that the reducing sugar content, total polysaccharides content, molecular weight, and rheological property of DP were not significantly altered under in vitro simulated digestive conditions. However, the molecular weight, apparent viscosity, and total polysaccharides content of indigestible DP (DPI) significantly decreased during in vitro fecal fermentation, and the reducing sugar content and the release of free monosaccharides notably increased, suggesting that DP could be degraded and used by gut microbiota. Additionally, the relative abundances of several beneficial bacteria, such as Bacteroides, Catenibacterium, Parabacteroides, and Megamonas, increased significantly, indicating that DP can regulate the composition and abundance of gut microbiota. Moreover, DP could also promote the production of SCFAs, thus changing the acid–base environment of the large intestine. The results of this study are beneficial for deeply clarifying the catabolic behavior of DP in the gastrointestinal tract, which can provide a theoretical basis for developing microbiota-directed products based on DP.

In this work, the effects of Lactobacillus fermentation on the nutrient content and hypoglycemic ability of chickpea milk were studied. Specifically, the fermentation of Lactobacillus acidophilus ATCC 4356 (LA) and Lactobacillus plantarum subsp. plantarum CICC 20279 (LP) reduced the contents of soluble sugar and protein in chickpea milk. But both single bacteria fermentation (SBF, LA or LP) and mixed bacteria fermentation (MBF, LA and LP) significantly increased the contents of some bioactive substances, such as dietary fiber, free amino acids, total polyphenols and total flavonoids. Moreover, LA fermented chickpea milk showed the best inhibition of α- glucosidase (highest inhibition rate up to 92.91%) and the MBF samples showed the best inhibition of α-amylase (highest inhibition rate up to 33.33%). In addition, free phenolics, conjugated phenolics, and total phenolics were all remarkably increased in chickpea milk after LA fermentation. The three types of phenolic compounds (free, conjugated, and bound) showed greater inhibition of α-glucosidase than α-amylase, and the conjugated phenolics exhibited the best inhibitory effects on both enzymes. From the results, Lactobacillus fermentation process may effectively improve the nutritional values and potential hypoglycemic activity of chickpea milk. Cancer chemotherapy potentially increases the risk of myocardial ischemia. This study assessed myocardial microvascular function by cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) first-pass perfusion in patients treated with chemotherapy for gynecologic malignancies.A total of 81 patients treated with chemotherapy for gynecologic malignancies and 39 healthy volunteers were prospectively enrolled and underwent CMR imaging. Among the patients, 32 completed CMR follow-up, with a median interval of 6 months. The CMR sequences comprised cardiac cine, rest first-pass perfusion, and late gadolinium enhancement.There were no significant differences in the baseline characteristics between the patients and normal controls (all p0.05). Compared with the normal controls, the patients had a lower myocardial perfusion index (PI) (13.62 ± 2.01% vs. 12% (11 to 14%), p = 0.001) but demonstrated no significant variation with an increase in the number of chemotherapy cycles at follow-up (11.79 ± 2.36% vs. 11.19 ± 2.19%, p = 0.234). In multivariate analysis with adjustments for clinical confounders, a decrease in the PI was independently associated with chemotherapy treatment (β = - 0.362, p = 0.002) but had no correlation with the number of chemotherapy cycles (r = - 0.177, p = 0.053).Myocardial microvascular dysfunction was associated with chemotherapy treatment in patients with gynecologic malignancies, and can be assessed and monitored by rest CMR first-pass perfusion.• Chemotherapy was associated with but did not aggravate myocardial microvascular dysfunction in patients with gynecologic malignancies. • Rest CMR first-pass perfusion is an ideal modality for assessing and monitoring alterations in myocardial microcirculation during chemotherapy treatment.

Background: Onychocryptosis is a pathologic condition and accounts for many clinical consultations. Selection for a suitable and effective treatment is crucial according to patients’ particular situation. To compare the efficacy and safety of S-shaped partial nail fold resection combined with lateral groove reconstruction versus matrix phenolization in patients with onychocryptosis. Methods: A total of 107 onychocryptosis participants at stage IIb and III were divided into 2 groups: 75 nails of 73 patients were treated with S-shaped partial nail fold resection combined with lateral groove reconstruction (S-shaped group) and 42 nails of 34 patients were treated with matrix phenolization (Phenol group). Clinical cure rate and post-surgery complications were evaluated. Besides, the new procedure was performed in 31 nails of 29 participants at stage IV in order to evaluate its efficacy. Results: After 6 months, in the remain 102 patients (110 nails), there was no statistically significant difference in clinical cure and satisfaction between two groups (P = 0.62 and 0.506, respectively). Fewer patients showed complications, including narrowed nail width and onycholysis, in the S-shaped group than the Phenol group (5.88 % vs. 45.2 %, P < 0.001). Besides, shorter healing time was observed in S-shape group (13.5 ± 1.4 vs 27.6 ± 2.3 days, P < 0.001). Postoperative pain was obvious in the S-shape group at the first postoperative day (P < 0.001), while a clear decrease in pain score was observed at 2 weeks after surgery (P = 0.407). Moreover, this nail-sparing surgery was successful used in stage IV patients with 100% cure rate. Conclusion: The new surgery has both benefits and drawbacks. The advantages are normal width nail plate and short healing time. The drawbacks are severe postoperative pain and complicated in operation. Therefore, matrix phenolization is recommended to cases at stage IIb and III, our new surgery is recommended to those patients with high demands of esthetic. Additionally, our new surgery is suitable to stage IV patients, with hypertrophic tissue completely covers lateral, medial, and distal nail plate.

The emergence of flexible AC transmission technology provides a new technical means for ensuring the reliable grid connection and stable operation of wind farms. Among them, the static reactive power generator has a fast response speed, which can accurately compensate for the reactive power of the wind farm and improve the power factor; this is widely used in wind farms. To obtain accurate static var generator (SVG) parameters to meet the reliability requirements of a power system, we propose an adaptive estimation method that considers the wind speed fluctuation of wind farms. First, analyzing the dynamic SVG characteristics allowed us to establish a mathematical model. Then, the corresponding relationship between the sensitivity values of the parameters to be identified and the fluctuating wind speed was established, and low and high wind speed models were constructed. Finally, for accurate estimation considering wind speed fluctuation, the parameter initial values are obtained by combining the low wind speed and high wind speed model identification parameters, and we introduce the multimode hybrid estimation of the SVG parameters, providing a new method for accurately identifying the SVG model parameters. The simulation results of the parameter estimation demonstrate the accuracy and stability of the proposed method.

Remote sensing image (RSI) scene classification plays an active role in many application areas. Due to the excellent performance of the convolutional neural networks (CNNs), which have widely applied in RSI scene classification in recent years. However, most existing methods improve the classification accuracy by improving the model parameters or fusing the features of CNNs. This will make the whole model very complicated and unable to extract multiscale features at a more granular level. This letter proposes a novel and lightweight multiscale depthwise network (MSDWNet) with efficient spatial pyramid attention (ESPA), namely ESPA-MSDWNet, with low model parameters and high accuracy in solving this problem. The ESPA-MSDWNet uses MobileNet V2 as a backbone. We represent multiscale features at a more granular level and expand the receptive fields by multiscale depthwise convolution (MSDW Conv). We also propose the ESPA module to extract dependencies between channels. The ablation experiment verifies the effectiveness of our proposed MSDW Conv and ESPA module. Experimental results on three public RSI datasets show that ESPA-MSDWNet has advantages in classification accuracy and execution efficiency over current state-of-the-art (SOTA) methods.

BACKGROUND: Neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) is an important treatment for locally advanced breast cancer (LABC). However, there are no effective biomarkers to predict the efficacy. Therefore, there is an urgent need for new biomarkers to predict the response of LABC to NAC. LncRNA BCAR4 has been detected in a variety of malignant tumor tissues and used as a new biomarker for diagnosis and prognosis. However, LncRNA BCAR4 predicts the response of LABC to NAC is unclear. OBJECTIVE: Explore the predictive effect of LncRNA BCAR4 on the efficacy of NAC for LABC in three different evaluation systems. METHODS: First, the TCGA database was used to analyze the expression of LncRNA BCAR4 in 33 kinds of malignant tumors, and further explore its expression in breast cancer and its impact on the survival and prognosis of breast cancer. Furthermore, quantitative methods were used to measure the expression level of LncRNA BCAR4 in cancer tissues of 48 LABC patients, and the correlation between LncRNA BCAR4 and clinicopathological status and response to NAC under the evaluation system of 3, RECIST1.1, Miller-Payne (MP) score and whether it reaches pCR,was analyzed. RESULTS: TCGA data analysis found that LncRNA is highly expressed in a variety of malignant tumor tissues, including breast cancer. And relatively low expression, the shorter the overall survival time of high expression patients. The high expression of LncRNA BCAR4 is related to the size of the tumor, and there are differences in expression between stage I and other stages, but there is no obvious correlation with the positive lymph node and hormone receptor status. Among the three evaluation systems, only in the RECIST 1.1 evaluation system LncRNA BCAR4 has a predictive effect on NAC for LABC. The expression of LncRNA BCAR4 has no significant correlation with clinical stage, Ki-67% and hormone receptor status, and has no significant correlation with whether patients with locally advanced breast cancer obtain pCR during neoadjuvant chemotherapy. CONCLUSION: LncRNA BCAR4 is highly expressed in LABC tissues and may be an effective marker for predicting the efficacy of NAC for LABC.

Assessing collective drug consumption based on the species and concentrations of illicit drugs and their metabolites in wastewater is an objective, real-time, accurate, convenient and effective monitoring technology. In order to establish a rapid screening and confirmation method for the abuse of opioids, amphetamines and benzodiazepines in wastewater, solid phase extraction was used to pretreat the wastewater sample, and ultra-high liquid chromatography tandem high resolution mass spectrometry was used to screen and confirm 36 kinds of analytes. Moreover, the method was applied to real wastewater samples collected from different wastewater treatment plants. Different HPLC columns and mobile phases were tested for optimization of the method. The peak shapes, retention time, separation and sensitivity of the chromatographic procedure were evaluated. Finally, an Accucore Hypersil Gold column (100 mm×2.1 mm×1.9 μm), and the mobile phases of ultrapure water with 2 mmol/L ammonium formate 0.1%-formic acid (A) and acetonitrile-methanol (1∶1, V/V) with 2 mmol/L ammonium formate and 0.1% formic acid were applied because of good peak shapes and separation. TraceFinder software was selected for rapid screening, and retention time, molecular mass, fragment ions and isotope distribution were collected as the screening basis. A substance could be judged as positive if it all met these 4 screening conditions. Therefore, the results obtained were more authentic and reliable. The LODs ranged from 5 to 20 ng/L. The extraction recoveries were higher than 70% for all compounds in wastewater, and the matrix effect ranged from -24.4% to 21.2%. In the real wastewater samples, 4 opioids of morphine, codeine, pethidine, tramadol, 1 amphetamine of methamphetamine and 4 benzodiazepines of diazepam, nordazepam, estazolam, alprazolam were detected, and the error of all compounds were less than 5×10-6. There are many kinds of abused substances in wastewater, and the regional prevalence is also different. The method established in this article can be used for rapid and accurate screening and confirmation abused substances in wastewater.

Phosphorus removal is a promising means to effectively prevent and control the eutrophication of natural waters. Coagulation can achieve phosphorus removal with high efficiency, and therefore the preparation of coagulants has recently garnered increasing attention. Ferric chloride, aluminum chloride, and titanium tetrachloride were used to prepare polyaluminium ferric titanium chloride (i.e., PCAFT) by changing the molar ratio of trivalent iron, trivalent aluminum, and tetravalent titanium and adjusting the alkalization degree. The resulting compounds were characterized via X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) to clarify their phosphorus removal mechanisms. Single-factor and orthogonal tests were conducted to determine the optimum conditions for phosphorus removal, after which the phosphorus-removing properties of the proposed material were assessed in actual wastewater. The optimum conditions for phosphorus removal were the following: coagulant dosage of 40 mg, wastewater pH of 9, and phosphorus wastewater concentration of 2 mg · L−1. Our proposed method could reduce the total phosphorus concentration of the secondary sedimentation tank effluent to below the detection limit. Moreover, the characterization results indicated that the synthesized PCAFT was a complex hydroxyl polymer of aluminum, iron, and titanium bridged by a hydroxyl group with good crystallinity and a cluster structure on its crystal surface, which enhanced the coagulation and phosphorus removal properties of the material.

ObjectiveReliable electrophysiological indicators are urgently needed in the precise evaluation of Parkinson’s disease (PD). It is still elusive whether oculomotor performance is impaired or has clinical value in early PD. This study aims to explore oculomotor performance in newly diagnosed, drug-naïve PD and its correlation with clinical phenotype.MethodsSeventy-five patients with de novo PD, 75 patients with essential tremor (ET), and 46 gender-and age-matched healthy controls (HCs) were included in this cross-sectional study. All subjects underwent oculomotor test via videonystagmography. Visually guided saccade latency, saccadic accuracy and gain in smooth pursuit eye movement (SPEM) at three frequencies of the horizontal axis were compared among the three groups. Patients with PD also received detailed motor and non-motor evaluation by serial scales. The association between key oculomotor parameters and clinical phenotypes were explored in PD patients.ResultsBoth de novo PD and ET patients showed prolonged saccadic latency and decreased saccadic accuracy relative to HCs. SPEM gain in PD was uniformly reduced at each frequency. SPEM gain at 0.4 Hz was also decreased in ET compared with HCs. However, there was no significant difference of oculomotor parameters between de novo PD and ET patients. Furthermore, prolonged saccadic latency was correlated with long disease duration, whereas decreased SPEM gain was associated with severe motor symptoms in de novo PD patients.ConclusionOcular movements are impaired in de novo, drug naïve PD patients; these changes could be indicators for disease progression in PD.

Abnormal neovascularization is an important cause of blindness in many ocular diseases, for which the etiology and pathogenic mechanisms remain incompletely understood. Recent studies have revealed the diverse roles of noncoding RNAs in various biological processes and facilitated the research and development of the clinical application of numerous RNA drugs, including microRNAs. Here, we report the antiangiogenic activity of microRNA-29a (miR-29a) in three animal models of ocular neovascularization. The miR-29a knockout (KO) mice displayed enhanced vessel pruning, resulting in a decreased vascularized area during retinal development. In contrast, miR-29a deletion in adult mice accelerated angiogenesis in preclinical disease models, including corneal neovascularization, oxygen-induced retinopathy, and choroidal neovascularization, while the administration of agomir-29a ameliorated pathological neovascularization. Furthermore, miR-29a exerted inhibitory effects on endothelial cell proliferation, migration, and tube formation capacities. RNA sequencing analysis of retinas from miR-29a KO mice and RNA interference experiments identified platelet-derived growth factor C and several extracellular matrix genes as downstream targets of miR-29a involved in regulating ocular angiogenesis. Our data suggest that miR-29a may be a promising clinical candidate for the treatment of neovascular diseases.

ObjectiveMyocardial edema is an early manifestation of chemotherapy-related myocardial injury. In this study, we used cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) T2 mapping to assess myocardial edema and its changes during chemotherapy for gynecologic malignancies.MethodsWe enrolled 73 patients receiving chemotherapy for gynecologic malignancies, whose the latest cycle was within one month before the beginning of this study, and 41 healthy volunteers. All participants underwent CMR imaging. Of the 73 patients, 35 completed CMR follow-up after a median interval of 6 (3.3 to 9.6) months. The CMR sequences included cardiac cine, T2 mapping, and late gadolinium enhancement.ResultsMyocardial T2 was elevated in patients who were treated with chemotherapy compared with healthy volunteers [41ms (40ms to 43ms) vs. 41ms (39ms to 41ms), P = 0.030]. During follow-up, myocardial T2 rose further [40ms (39ms to 42ms) vs. 42.70 ± 2.92ms, P < 0.001]. Multivariate analysis showed that the number of chemotherapy cycles was associated with myocardial T2 elevation (β = 0.204, P = 0.029). After adjustment for other confounders, myocardial T2 elevation was independently associated with a decrease in left ventricular mass (β = −0.186; P = 0.024).ConclusionIn patients with gynecologic malignancies, myocardial edema developed with chemotherapy cycles increase, and was associated with left ventricular mass decrease. T2 mapping allows the assessment of myocardial edema and monitoring of its change during chemotherapy.

Numerous studies on cancer, biopharmaceuticals, and clinical trials have necessitated comprehensive and precise analysis of protein O-glycosylation. However, the lack of updated and convenient databases deters the storage and utilization of emerging O-glycoprotein data. To resolve this issue, an O-glycoprotein repository named OGP was established in this work. It was constructed with a collection of O-glycoprotein data from different sources. OGP contains 9354 O-glycosylation sites and 11,633 site-specific O-glycans mapping to 2133 O-glycoproteins, and it is the largest O-glycoprotein repository thus far. Based on the recorded O-glycosites, an O-glycosylation site prediction tool was developed. Moreover, an OGP-backed website is already available (http://www.oglyp.org/). The website comprises four specially designed and user-friendly modules: Statistic Analysis, Database Search, Site Prediction, and Data Submit. The first version of OGP repository and the website allow users to obtain vast O-glycoprotein related information, such as protein accession numbers, glycopeptides, site-specific glycan structures, experimental methods, and potential glycosylation sites. O-glycosylation data mining can be performed efficiently on this website, which can greatly facilitates O-glycosylation studies.

The desorption of U(VI) from minerals by microorganisms and their extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) was characterized with Shewanella putrefaciens (S. putrefaciens) as a typical bacterial strain, while kaolinite and α-Fe2O3 as typical minerals. Based on the results, EPS contributed significantly to U(VI) desorption from minerals. Two kinds of mechanisms should be mainly involved in U(VI) desorption, including the competition for the adsorption sites of minerals between U(VI) and bacterial cells or EPS, and the formation of stable U(VI)–bacterial cells or U(VI)–EPS complexes. Desorption kinetics indicated that the desorption process of U(VI) on minerals was a complex heterogeneous diffusion and chemical desorption process.

The influence of chief executive officer (CEO) entrepreneurial orientation (EO) on firm performance and the underlying mediating mechanisms are worth studying because CEO EO may have a double-edged sword effect on firm performance. Drawing on the social information processing theory and social cognitive theory and using multilevel, multi-source data from 198 Chinese firms, this study found that CEO EO affects firm performance by triggering middle managers’ confidence in the organization’s prospects or workplace anxiety, moderated by middle managers’ entrepreneurial self-efficacy. It explicates the CEO EO–performance relationship and the vertical pervasiveness of EO in organizations.

BACKGROUND The pathophysiological changes in the remote myocardium after acute myocardial infarction (MI) remains less understood. PURPOSE To assess the inflammation in the remote myocardium post-MI and its association with left ventricular (LV) remodeling using T2 mapping. STUDY TYPE Prospective. PurposeCorporate entrepreneurship is an important way for organizations to gain competitive advantages and achieve sustainable development. However, few studies pay attention to the influence of CEO strategic leadership on corporate entrepreneurship. Drawing on social identity theory and uncertainty-identity theory, this study aims to investigate whether CEO relationship-focused leadership impacts corporate entrepreneurship through middle managers’ (MMs’) organizational identification and whether the indirect effect is moderated by environmental uncertainty.Design/methodology/approachUsing 192 Chinese samples with 192 firm-level and 716 department-level observations, this study uses multilevel structural equations modeling by Mplus 8.0 to test the theoretical model.FindingsThis study finds that CEO relationship-focused leadership positively predicts MMs’ organizational identification and corporate entrepreneurship, and MMs’ organizational identification mediates the relationship between CEO relationship-focused leadership and corporate entrepreneurship. In addition, environmental uncertainty moderates not only the relationship between CEO relationship-focused leadership and MMs’ organizational identification but also the indirect effect of CEO relationship-focused leadership on corporate entrepreneurship through MMs’ organizational identification.Research limitations/implicationsThis study enriches the understanding of process and contextualization of CEO strategic leadership influencing on corporate entrepreneurship.Originality/valueTo the best of the authors’ knowledge, this study is among the first to explore the influence of CEO relationship-focused leadership on corporate entrepreneurship.

Oncoprotein AML1-ETO (AE) derived from t(8;21)(q22;q22) translocation is typically present in a portion of French-American-British-M2 subtype of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Although these patients have relatively favorable prognoses, substantial numbers of them would relapse after conventional therapy. Here, we explored whether reinforcing the endogenous differentiation potential of t(8;21) AML cells would diminish the associated malignancy. In doing so, we noticed an expansion of immature erythroid blasts featured in both AML1-ETO9a (AE9a) and AE plus c-KIT (N822K) (AK) murine leukemic models. Interestingly, in the AE9a murine model, a spontaneous step-wise erythroid differentiation path, as characterized by the differential expression of CD43/c-Kit and the upregulation of several key erythroid transcription factors (TFs), accompanied the decline or loss of leukemia-initiating potential. Notably, overexpression of one of the key erythroid TFs, Ldb1, potently disrupted the repopulation of AE9a leukemic cells in vivo, suggesting a new promising intervention strategy of t(8;21) AML through enforcing their erythroid differentiation.

Although sweet tea is rich in bioactive polysaccharides, the knowledge regarding their structures, bioactivities, and gut microbial metabolism is still limited. Therefore, in order to promote the application of sweet tea polysaccharide (STP) in the food industry, the pressurized hot water extraction (PHWE) of STP was optimized, and its structural properties and biological effects as well as microbial fermentation characteristics were investigated. The maximum extraction yield (4.64 % ± 0.03 %) of STP extracted by PHWE was obtained under the optimal conditions. Both homogalacturonan and arabinogalactan might exist as major polysaccharide fragments in STP. Additionally, STP exerted obviously in vitro antioxidant, anti-diabetic, and immunostimulatory effects, which might be related to its chemical properties, such as uronic acids, conjugated polyphenolics, and esterification degree. Furthermore, STP could be consumed by intestinal microbiota, and its fermentability was about 54 % at the end stage of fecal fermentation. Indeed, STP could modulate the microbial composition via improving the growth of several beneficial microbes, causing the release of beneficial short-chain fatty acids. Collectively, the findings indicate that the PHWE is an efficient method for extracting bioactive polysaccharides from sweet tea, and results can also provide a scientific basis for developing STP into functional foods or functional ingredients.
