Seizièmes journées françaises de posturologie clinique; National audience; L'objectif de ce travail est de déterminer si et dans quelle mesure le système nerveux central (SNC) est capable d'intégrer une information artificielle linguale pour compenser une altération proprioceptive de la cheville induite par une fatigue musculaire. Pour ce faire, deux études évaluant respectivement le sens de la position et le sens de la force au niveau de la cheville ont été menées. Dans la première étude, 11 sujets ont participé à une tâche de positionnement comparé actif de la cheville dans 2 conditions " Non fatigue " et " Fatigue " des fléchisseurs plantaires et 2 conditions " Non biofeedback " et " Biofeedback ". Dans la seconde étude, 11 autres sujets ont participé à une tâche de force comparée dans les mêmes conditions expérimentales. Les résultats obtenus dans ces deux études montrent des erreurs absolues supérieures en condition Fatigue comparativement à la condition Non fatigue. Cependant, cet effet est supprimé lorsque l'information artificielle linguale est disponible. Dans leur ensemble, ces résultats suggèrent que le SNC est capable d'intégrer une information artificielle linguale pour compenser les effets délétères de la fatigue musculaire sur le sens de la position et le sens de la force au niveau de la cheville.

International audience; The upright stance of persons with unilateral lower limb amputation is characterized by weight bearing asymmetry with more weight on the non-affected limb. Over the long term, asymmetric weight bearing can lead to complications, such as pain and premature arthrosis of the non-affected limb, as well as additional blood flow deficits in persons with vascular disease. Within this context, training for symmetrical weight bearing represents an important issue in the rehabilitation of unilateral lower limb amputees. The purpose of this study was to assess the effectiveness of an insole pressure sensor-based electro-tactile biofeedback system in improving weight bearing asymmetry in lower limb amputees. To achieve this goal, the limb load asymmetry, representing the ratio of body weight fraction put on the more loaded limb to the less loaded limb, was measured in 20 unilateral lower limb amputees (10 transtibial and 10 transfemoral) and 10 able-bodies persons, when standing upright with their eyes closed in two conditions of No-biofeedback and Biofeedback. The No-biofeedback condition served as a control condition. In the Biofeedback condition, participants used an insole pressure sensor-based electro-tactile biofeedback system.

Background: Physical inactivity has been identified as one of the major risk factors for mortality causing an estimated 3.2 million deaths in the world per year. To reduce mortality risk, adopting physical activity (PA) most days is considered a public health guideline for physical activity participation in adulthood. Here we assessed the predictive value of childhood socioeconomic position on the likelihood to reach the PA guidelines and examined whether adulthood socioeconomic position explains this association. Methods: Data were retrieved from 18,467 (40,228 observations) adults aged 50 years and older across 12 European countries of the longitudinal and cross-national Survey of Health Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE). The associations between childhood socioeconomic position (assessed using retrospective life course information) and the self-reported PA recommendations attainment were estimated using mixed effects logistic regression. Model was adjusted for potential confounders and for the mediating effects of education and main occupation class. Findings: Participants born in the most disadvantaged (OR=1.18), disadvantaged (OR=1.29), and neutral (OR=1.16) childhood socioeconomic position had a greater odds of not reaching the PA recommendations, compared with participants born in the most advantaged socioeconomic position. The effect of the most disadvantaged childhood socioeconomic position strengthened with ageing (OR=1.02). Education attainment and, to a lesser extent, main occupation class, mediated 76% of these associations. Discussion: These findings suggested that education and main occupation class largely explained the deleterious effect of childhood socioeconomic position on the odds of reaching the PA recommendations. Potential implications for public health policy will be outlined.

The aim of this study was to better understand the motor behaviour of hip disarticulated (HD) subjects using a Canadian type prosthesis, and to assess the effects of a new exoprosthetic hip joint system (Hélix3D, Otto Bock®) on balance, gait initiation and gait of HD subjects.; Cette étude vise à mettre en évidence les spécificités posturales et locomotrices des sujets désarticulés de hanche (DH) utilisant une prothèse canadienne, et à évaluer l'effet d'une pièce de hanche récemment développée (Hélix3D, Otto Bock®) sur la posture, l'initiation de la marche et la locomotion de ces sujets DH.
